She was warm, kind, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing experience. You can tell when someone truly enjoys taking care of people, and that was Kelly. I'm not even a huge sushi person, and I usually spend a lot of money on a very plain roll because I'm afraid to try anything different. Kelly encouraged me to add the crunchy topping, and I trusted her recommendation. It ended up being, without question, the best sushi roll I've ever had. I couldn't believe how delicious it was--and at such a reasonable price. She also let us take advantage of the two-for-one sushi special even though we needed our food to go, which was incredibly thoughtful. When I mentioned I didn't drink beer, she suggested sake. I don't normally like sake either, but once again, she was right--it was the best I've ever had. As a mom balancing work, life, and weekends spent at swim meets, moments like this mean more than people realize. Sometimes you're tired, stretched thin, and just hoping for an easy meal. The portions are not the biggest, and it's not the cheapest food around, but I have to say, the quality of the food is superior to other places in the area that serve this dish. I just ate a Sesame Chicken plate from another place in Roseville that was absolutely awful, and it made me want to kick myself for not paying the extra few dollars and eating at Tokyo Dori instead. I rarely give a 5 star review, but this place deserves it. Service was prompt and courteous. The server clearly knew the menu well and she made recommendations to us and accommodations for us. We were in a group, but she provided separate tickets. She didn't hover, but was watchful when we needed refills of their truly delicious green tea and boxes at the end of our meal. There is a wide variety of dishes on the menu. The lunch special is chicken teriyaki. A large serving of grilled chicken comes with white rice, a green salad, and your choice of potstickers or sushi roll. The chicken was grilled and served without sauce. Bottles of teriyaki, soy and sriracha were on the table so we could season our plate as we liked. Everyone was pleased with their choice and there were three clean plates at our table. Though this place is in a small strip mall across from Sierra College, it was very quiet inside. An absolute must for us aging diners! We have been going to this establishment for over 20 years. When we heard that the place had been sold, we were a little nervous at first. But the new owners have done such a great job with updating the decor. The service staff stayed on and they are wonderful. The menu is pretty much the same but they added some new items to the menu. The Calamari was tasty but, in my opinion, too much breading and not enough calamari. Our favorite was the Shrimp Katsu. Not overly breaded and large, plumb shrimp. I would order this again. The Sunomono Salad was OK. The cucumber was marinated in a sweet ginger sauce and snow crab. This salad was a little short in flavor. Prices were competitive. read more

Both were very good. The crazy rolls had this thousand island-like sauce but it worked. Both rolls tasted fresh. I will say that neither had much spice to them so the included wasabi was necessary. Miso soup came out pleasantly piping hot, not lukewarm like some other places. It was very flavorful, but I wish it had more seaweed. Those vegetables with noodles were the star of the show for me. They had a nice charred flavor with a delicious sesame side note. All the vegetables were cooked to perfection. If you're a noodle fan like me, make sure to order some.
