I've been at this location several times and the managers are really friendly. I always enjoy coming to this location and eating their Udon. However, I decided to order something different and got really sick. I came in person to talk to them because I get along with the management so well and didn't want to write this review. I spoke with the waiter and kindly told them my experience and he looked at me I disbelief and said, "You sure it was us?" I told him I knew it was them as it was I hadn't eaten anything else. He didn't apologize or say anything to me. Unfortunately, I didn't see anyone on staff that I knew to talk to for today but I hope someone reads this review and considers that I did get sick. Took my brother and sister in law out for their birthday, it was their first time doing hibachi and they had an absolute blast. We went for lunch so the food was a lot less than dinner. We all got the chicken and steak combo we also had drinks and sushi which was really delicious. They sang happy birthday and got a fried ice cream. Also their first. Great Japanese food. Definitely recommend the bento box at lunch since you get miso and salad with the meal. The food comes out fairly quickly and hot. The lighting is perfect with the windows letting in some natural light and not harsh bright lights. My only issue has been with getting refills on my drinks as sometimes I get constant refills and other times I get none and have to suck on the ice left in my cup. read more

Still a great place to have dinner with the family. I personally hate the house salad (dressing is gross) that comes with almost everything and their tempura veggies (the choice of veggies they use + texture are gross) but everything is hella good! The service is always very good, the people/ staff are wonderful and really go the extra mile. For example, I order the Shrimp Katsu to change it up, it had been a while since i ordered from the menu & after i ordered i saw that what i wanted came with those nasty af tempura veggies and our server was able to quickly change it to grilled veggies. Ok experience. I love that the food comes out in small portions because it's hot and little to no waste. I love going out and love a clean pretty environment but they fell a little short on this part. Don't know exactly what it is but they have to do better with their tables and chairs, uncomfortable to me. BUT food was very good read more

Couldn't eat the food very hard and burnt meat terrible food asked for the manager the guy I spoke to said he was the owner and basically told me he didn't care that I had tried some of the food and for that reason he wasn't doing anything about it very rude... Was near Pasadena and needed some time to kill so I decided to come here for food. Came during happy hour and their menu seemed decent and cheap (yay!). I guess you can say the sushi I received directly reflected the price. I love California Rolls so I ordered a couple of them. The rice was really dry. I don't think there was any vinegar in the sushi rice. It was difficult to get through the many rolls I ordered. The spicy-mayo sauce tasted kind of off as well. It was a Saturday night and I was absolutely dying for some sushi. Two other places that claimed they had delivery actually didn't and it was getting late. I saw that this place was open until 10:30 pm and offered delivery as well. I thought I would give it one last shot before I gave up. I'm glad I tried them out! Though the prices are pretty steep, they did deliver to my home at around 10 pm (I had a 45 min wait time). And honestly, I didn't mind because where else could I get late night sushi? Everything was delicious! Since it was my first time eating from here, I didn't know what I would like so I ordered several items. It all arrived in neat little plastic containers. Out of everything I selected, I think I enjoyed the gyu tataki and the Tokyo Night roll the best. The Philadelphia roll was pretty standard and nothing impressive, as was my spicy salmon hand roll. I was a little disappointed that the snapper and salmon nigiri were served plain. I'm spoiled from my time in Reno, NV where those items are served with ponzu/sriracha and lemon slices, respectively. However, they still tasted good. The yellowtail was slightly on the fishy side. I'm used to it being mild and buttery. After tax, tip, delivery and service fees, my total was roughly $120. Ouch. I did order a lot, though. Now that I have an idea of what is good, I can order less. However, almost everything is at least $10+. I enjoyed ordering from here, but it will be quite some time before I splurge like this again. read more

First time trying Ichibons since moving to the area. I first came in to meet a friend (didn't order anything) and it all looked amazing. We decided to try it for date night and beats the hibachi grill where we are from. Everything is well worth the price and the quality is amazing and fresh. I must say this is my first time at this location and I will never come back. Their calamari was fried in dirty oil. The taste was just weird. Their food had absolutely no flavor although the food was hot when it came out customer service was good. I will not return and I don't recommend this place at all. Ordered through Uber eats and the restaurant gave my order to the wrong driver. Manager refused to remake my food for the correct driver, I called and the Manager seems to be too busy to speak to a paying customer over the phone. A tip to the Manager learn to treat your customers right and learn how to handle these types of situations!!! Remember without customers you won't get paid! read more

We were told 50 mins for our table so we sat at the bar to wait. We had a sushi roll and a drink while waiting, both were okay but our server was great. After an hour had passed we asked about our table (there was an empty hibachi table). Another 10-15 mins they finally sat us at our table. After being seated another 10+ mins had passed and we haven't even seen a server. There were three separate parties at this table and all we're getting restless. One party had to go to the bar to order their drinks. I went and asked our previous server if he could help our table and he was eager to help. He got our drink orders & soon after our food orders. Our cook came out to make our food he put on a good show but the food just was not it. The salad is delicious. The fried rice was sweet, I have never had a sweet rice at hibachi. Neither my husband or I were a fan of it. The veggies were different compared to other hibachi restaurants, I wasn't expecting stringy vegetables. The mushrooms were very good. But then comes the meat... the shrimp way over cooked, the chicken was dry & the steak was ordered to be medium & it came out well done. The original Ichibon I'm Kemah was a staple for me growing up and I was glad to experience the same taste at this location. I ordered the large chicken fried rice which came with their signature salad (soooo good) and a shaggy dog. I was craving a hibachi dinner and found Ichibon's. We were seating immediately at a table of 7 people total. I ordered a Shaggy Dog Roll and miso soup as an appetizer. For an entree, I had the hibachi steak and fried rice. The hibachi entrees come with a salad, vegetables, and rice. The salad is the size of a dinner salad and very filling. They put a lot of cheese on the salad as seen in the photos. The Shaggy Dog Roll is good, I like that it is not drenched in sauce and you can taste the crab. I didn't like the ginger sauce which is typically my favorite part of the meal. read more

We came here after helping my mom with her home after it was affected by Harvey. It was a Sunday evening and the parking situation was as good as it gets, plenty of it. We came in and from the beginning, the service was exceptional. The staff was very attentive. We opted for the hibachi experience and we seated with another family. There was plenty of room at the grill. The Noodle Samurai came in with full entertainment. We had such a great time, he was throwing food at our mouths, making jokes, and chopping up several yummy courses. I had the steak and calamari with the rice and veggies with an added side of noodles. The food was great as well, cooked to perfection and there was plenty of food! We both decided we wanted some fried rice so we came here. This was my second time at this location. It was on a Friday night and we were seated immediately at a regular table not around the hibachi grill. I ordered the egg rolls. They were OK but nothing special. Also, their sweet-n-sour sauce was so red, it looked like blood! It didn't look very appetizing. We shared the large combination fried rice. It was a very large portion. We had a lot leftover. The combination fried rice has shrimp, chicken and beef in it. It's probably enough to feed 3-4 people. Our server was very friendly. We were in and out in probably about 30 minutes or so. It was a quick dinner. We'll be back when we're in the mood for some fried rice. read more

This is a review going after just once. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Service was good (except for the hostess that greeted me, wouldn't get off the phone to seat me but in her defense I could tell she was talking to a customer). The fried calamari.....so delicious. The breading was just right: not too overwhelming, not too salty and didn't fall off the calamari. OMG, I want some just typing this! Lol. I ordered a few rolls: the snow crab roll, their "rock and roll" roll (I think that's what it's called) and a regular Cali roll. I absolutely am obsessed with crab meat so the snow crab roll was my fav. Overall it was a pleasant experience. I will be back. Food was good and the wait wasn't long at all. The food is great and the service is hit or miss depending on the server, but this review is focused on something else: take-out. My wife and I went there recently for dinner and forgot our take-out box on the table. She went back in like a minute later and the table was already cleaned off and the box was thrown away. WTH? A busboy must have jumped on that table before we were even out the door and he couldn't give us a shout? Ugh. Here's another option: they can set aside leftover boxes for about 5 to 10 minutes in case someone does come back in for it. To have it already be tossed that quickly is ridiculous. So future customers take caution; if you eat at this location DON'T forget your takeout box cos it'll be trash in moments. Ichibon, you seriosuly need to develop a system specifically for this situation. It's an innocent mistake to forget a takeout box; don't make it a waste. read more

What is so impressive about banging your utensils on the grill? The "chef's" go-to was making as many obnoxious loud noises as possible to distract from his lack of showmanship. The fried rice was crunchy and bland. The teriyaki chicken (which he cut into small, dry cubes) was also bland. Honestly, you would get more flavor at a Panda Express. I left with a headache, disappointed, and out $40 when I could have saved $20 and had a better experience at a fast food joint. Some people next to me ordered chicken nuggets and fries. Came here for the second time to celebrate my moms birthday. We ordered hibachi and, having never had our food cooked in front of us before, we were all very amused. The kids didn't touch their devices the whole dinner! And they actually ate their dinner. The streak was excellent quality and seasoned perfectly, shrimp was great and the few pieces of sashimi I tried were very fresh. If you haven't taken the kiddos here- do it! My hubby and I had a munchie for Asian food, but really didn't want to go out in the world; instead we chose to order take-away from Ichibon. I wouldn't call this regret, but it didn't really hit the spot and the take-away service was not good. We've been to this Ichibon before and enjoyed it. If you've never eaten there and watched the hibachi chefs do their show I recommend it. The show is fun, the service is good, the food is cooked before you, and it's definitely worth the money. The take-away service is really just meh. My husband said it himself, "They're just not meant for take-away" because it's left solely to the lone person working the front to put the orders in and then prepare the food (at least that's how it seems)....plus whatever else they do at the front, too. We tried to call in our order, but we were on hold for about 10 minutes. At that point I suggested he just drive there, order, and wait. He ended up putting the order in on the way there. But still, a 10 minute wait is a long wait to order food. We ordered Age Shumai (Japanese dumplings), Fried Spring Rolls, Gyoza (dumplings), and a Shaggy Dog Roll. I do not recommend the Age Shumai unless you've had them and loved them. They were a very weird texture and unenjoyable. It's one of those foods I wish I could take back. The Fried Spring Rolls and Gyoza were good, but the Shaggy Dog was the best. It's just a good roll. Honestly, the next time we eat here it will NOT be take-away, it will dinner at the hibachi with the chef cooking our food while we watch. I can vouch for that food and service; otherwise, what's the point? I can get ho-hum food and meh service for a cheaper price somewhere else. read more

The food is always yummy. The entertainment of the chef is great. We were a big party on Saturday with reservations. They are strict that your entire party has to be there before you are seated. We were all there on time, but they made us wait 45 min after our scheduled time. The waitresses just suck. They automatically added in gratuity and I'm sure that's why they didn't care. I had to always ask for my drink to be refilled. One time after asking, I had to wait over 15 min and then ask another waitress. To top it off, they put kids on their own tickets and my husband and I on another. That was odd and required our credit card to be charged multiple times. read more
