Very disappointed with my visit today to Little Tokyo. The young guy tried his best; however, he was pulled in so many directions. He cleaned the tables, he swept, he greeted and sat people, etc. He also eventually took my drink order when a waitress never came & I asked him to get our drinks. Then I had to ask to order. Our drinks remained empty for our meal. We were there 43 minutes before receiving our order & it was just me and my child. The waitress never visited the table until the end when I stacked up the plates & put at the end. It was a very disappointing visit. read more

My first impression of this place was that it pretty small, but seems traditional. They do have some outdoor seating but when you get inside they have more tables, booths, their "island" of a sushi bar, and then to the right of that is traditional seating where you would be sitting on the floor and you're required to take your shoes off. You order and pay once you arrive, then once they seat you, your order comes. Their menu is actually pretty large. They don't just have sushi, they offer hibachi, bento specials, Donburi, noodles, and dessert. I have to say it was very different for me but I did enjoy myself. It was pretty quiet, it seemed like they were a bit short staffed but everyone was polite and I thought my food came out it a timely manner. I ordered their miso soup, Fire Fighter roll, and Lauri's Shaggy Dog roll. The miso soup was good, nothing different from the ordinary, I'm just glad it wasn't watered down. The Fire Fighter roll, which was my favorite of the two, had a lot of flavor. It has tuna, yellowtail, crab, eel, spicy tuna, salmon, and topped with spicy teriyaki sauce and green onions. Their Lauri's Shaggy Dog roll wasn't too impressive, I thought it was dry, but it has crab, super white tuna, shrimp tempura, mayo fish eggs, topped with green onions and wrapped in soy paper. Overall I enjoyed my experience here and I'm excited that they have such a different variety of sushi rolls! I'll have to come back to try the others and even some of their non sushi dishes, I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for some Japanese food. read more

It's been years since I've been back to Little Tokyo, but the quantity of food, especially the sushi, has greatly expanded! The décor in one section of the restaurant makes you feel like you're eating at a stall in Japan. Little Tokyo allows companies and other establishments to advertise their business at their restaurant. They can even place their business cards there for visiting customers to take with them. They don't charge for that either. Unfortunately, that's all I can say that's positive about Little Tokyo. First, the location is difficult and easy to miss. We ordered food to go, but the long wait was ridiculous. It was past lunch, the restaurant wasn't packed, yet they made us wait for almost 40 minutes cooking our food. We didn't order a lot and our orders were simple. Unacceptable! Their fried rice lacked seasoning, and my friend said her Teriyaki shrimp was terrible. My chicken katsu curry rice was SUPPOSED to be like actual Asian curry rice, but NO, it tasted like plain Indian curry to me! It wasn't even spicy. Does this establishment not know how to properly prepare authentic curry rice!?! They also gave us wonton strips by mistake, thankfully they didn't charge us for it. I'm not coming back to Little Tokyo unless they improve the quality of their food. My brother and his wife may come here for their expansive sushi menu. They're both sushi fanatics. read more

This used to be the place to go. It's garbage now. Slow uneducated service, order up front, low quality sushi, enjoy your first drink because it won't get filled. This is the best sushi place in the SE Houston area! That's why it's always busy. The menu is huge. Sometimes I can't even find what I'm looking for but the excellent staff are helpful. Often I order Pyramid Rolls which are actually oniguri. Absolutely delicious! The place is cute inside. They even have a traditional Japanese table. They also have a private room with a long table which accommodates a big family or group. I never posted a yelp review for a restaurant before but the food here was VERY disappointing . I was wanting to try it out and try something basic from their menu to see if it's good because of all the good ratings it got. And you can tell the quality of a Japanese restaurant by how good they execute their simple dishes like tempura and chicken teriyaki. And for $18 for a dish, they must be VERY Confident in their abilities. I got the bento Box A and the portion of the chicken was very small and SUPER dry. The tempura batter was stale, undercooked, and bland even with the tempura sauce. The weird bean sprout veggie dish was not seasoned at all. The California roll I had was okay but all you could taste is the cucumbers because of the ratios were way off. The rice was over cooked with a bunch of hard overcooked rice bits were mixed in. And to top it all off, it was $18.16 for this "bento box". 0/10 experience. Believe me or not but I've been to countless Japanese restaurants and this is or is close to being the worst Japanese restaurant that I've EVER been to. Try it for yourself if you want but for my recommendation is that there are FAR better restaurants near by for better prices. This is not a $15+ quality restaurant in my opinion (I wouldn't even get this bento again even if it was below $10). However, the service of this place was good, the store was clean and had a nice vibe, the workers did a good job but the food I got is no where near worth $18.16. Service 7/10 C;Food 0/10 F. Absolutely terrible. It's really hard to mess up teriyaki chicken. But this place has the absolute disgusting plate of teriyaki chicken I've ever had. First off, for the price point, for $15 I would expect more than BOILED chicken!!! No seasoning, the one piece of broccoli they give you is cold and nasty. The sushi we got taste like such low quality, it's amazing that this place is still in business. Had the experience of this restaurant for the first time today with my partner and a friend for lunch today. They had been here multiple times before this and had nothing but good things to say about this place. But for my experience, it was completely AWFUL. We were seated in a closed off area because they claimed to not have had any other seats for us. We were barely checked on for anything at all. Not even for a refill on our drinks. It took over 45 minutes AFTER ordering the food to even get it. We had to keep asking for updates since none were being given. Our server left us and went into another section and had someone else take over. When I got my food (Box D), it was awful. The chicken was dry and rubbery with the sauce just poured on top of it. The rice was hard and plain with no flavor. The shrimp was fried and flavorless as well along with their vegetables being disgusting. We got our ticket and realized that the original server added an 18% tip of almost $17. To add gratuity when it was only three of us is ridiculous. We should have gotten to choose our own tip. When we asked about the tip on there, the server gave multiple excuses. "It's policy" (we asked to see the policy and she removed the tip), "it's because of where yall were sitting" (she told us we had to sit there because there was no other place for us to sit and the place wasn't even packed and then the room has a camera directly on us just listening and watching us), "it's because no one tips" (maybe it's because of the poor service and disgusting food being given to us when we're paying a crazy amount for it). Went we walked into the welcoming Sushi bar area of Little Tokyo last week, my husband & I were immediately impressed. The restaurant is very clean and truly a little gem in the area. We had miso soup, shrimp tempura, hibachi kama, and Sushi A, which included a combination of different fish. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The food quality is excellent. Given its proximity to Clear Lake and Pasadena, I think this is the best Japanese restaurant in the area. read more

I ordered a bento box. I would stick to the sushi if I ever returned. The fried rice upgrade was okay. The salad was very watery. The tempura was overcooked with a thick hard dry coating. The dumplings were fried beyond recognition, even the filling was hard. And the chicken serving was too dry to eat although it was covered in a sauce. Once upon a time we LOVED this place. We live in Alvin and when the Pearland location closed, we started going to LTP. Top notch food. Even my 12 year old loves it. Until last Tuesday. Celebrating my daughter's birthday at LTP and dinner became a disaster. The salads were good. The edamame was good. Heck even the sushi was good. My wife got the chicken lettuce wraps and there was only one chicken macnugget sized bite of chicken swimming in a soupy trough of vegetables and sauce. My wife asked about the seemingly missing chicken and the server said that is the portion size - 'half a chicken'. I tried to take a pic of half of the worlds smallest chicken but my wife was to embarrassed. We will find another sushi spot. You should too. read more

Unfortunately, this will be the last time until they have full service staff. You have to go thru the menu and pay before ever being seated. It now has a very fast food feeling. There used to be a wait to be seated but now it's a wait on people to place their order. We went on a Friday night and I think there were maybe 5-6 tables occupied when normally they would be filled up. In my opinion, I think the new way of ordering has caused a decline in business. It's a little bit overwhelming to try to figure out what column you have ordered from. The staff is very friendly and doesn't mind doing to the kitchen when you ask them questions. Due to Covid on the day we visited recently, we had to order and pay before being seated. Study the menu carefully before you visit, otherwise you will be in the waiting area for a while. Summary: Terrible, No Service, Save Your Money! I have been a long time supporter of Little Tokyo. My first time was early 2008 at the pearland location. I always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Since the pearland location closed down I haven't found a new sushi home. My family had a bit of cabin fever and decided to go out to dinner. I decided to surprise everyone and drive the almost 30 minutes to the Pasadena location. When we arrived we were told to look at a menu decide what we want they order and pay. I was confused, I thought for a minute I had walked in to a low end fast food restaurant. You know the ones where you feed the whole family for $25 and get no service and no smile. This couldn't be Little Tokyo where I constantly spend over $100 to feed 2-3 people without alcohol. Not sure what the thought process was. Was it for covid? Because cramming multiple families in a small entry space while the entire party tries to look over the menu while standing in close proximity to several other families seems counter productive. So you order your food like its to go pay then sit down. No one comes to check on you. No one comes to see if you need more to drink. Heaven help you if you need a box to go or more napkins or might even like to order desert. I had to get up and walk to the sushi bar to request a box to take my leftovers. Dont waste your time driving here, its not even as good as the pearland location was. Little Tokyo has died another victim of covid 19. I wont be back there are several sushi options in the clear lake area. I left the restaurant annoyed that I drove 30 minutes for a crappy experience and even more annoyed that I gave them my money. Oh and so you know if you place a phone order to go they will charge you an automatic 18% gratuity if your bill is over $75 which is not hard to do with $15+ rolls. read more

I used to LOVE Little Tokyo! It used to be my favorite sushi restaurant in the area. It is not the same place it used to be, food and service is not the same. We waited about 15 minutes until someone came by to take our drink orders. Then it took an hour just for 1 roll to come out and it didn't even taste the same.
