5 Stars I visited Miga Sushi in Livingston, NJ at the end of May, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. A friend and I decided to try the all-you-can-eat sushi, and it was one of the best dining values I've found in a long time. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Every dish we ordered tasted fresh and high quality, and honestly, we ended up ordering more than we could finish because everything looked so good. What impressed me even more was the service. We arrived around 4:00 PM and stayed until almost 8:00 PM catching up and enjoying our meal. Spending four hours at a table is not something every restaurant appreciates, but the staff was incredibly patient, welcoming, and never made us feel rushed. They continued to provide excellent service throughout our entire visit. To top it off, we even had dessert, and the total bill for two people was around $80. Considering the amount of food, the quality, the desserts, and the excellent service, I thought it was an incredible value. It's rare these days to find a restaurant that delivers great food, great service, and great value all at the same time, but Miga Sushi absolutely does. I have been going here for probably the last 2 1/2 years and every time I want to use your hand for or five or the afternoon every time I can get a booth about three weeks ago the last time I went there because there was two or three booths available and I was only gonna be there for 30 minutes and I was a regular but they told me that they had a policy that if you're only one person you have to sit in one of the chair Spots I have never heard that policy before my life I didn't make an argument about it. I said thank you. I will be leaving. Because the fact that not once in three years they did that to me and now there is suddenly a new rule that they say it's always been a policy when it really wasn't so the food is good yes time waiting on foods not too bad, but hospitality wise, especially people have been a regular customer for years is lacking in my opinion. Extremely solid Japanese restaurant with a spacious menu, authentic ingredients, and reputable brand in the area. There are plenty of restaurants in this shopping strip but Miga is great for takeout or dine-in. The miso soup is frothy and delicious. Got a bunch of nigiri for myself on a Friday night and a roll and handroll for someone else. First red flag- no gluten free soy sauce so I had to stop at ShopRite on my way home. Snapper is lackluster and has no flavor. Scallop was alright. Yellowtail was nothing special, seemed like it was dried out a little. Salmon was fine... but again just minimal flavor. I was craving AYCE sushi one weekday night and decided to stop by the newer Miga Sushi location in East Hanover. I had only been to Sakana nearby, and the Miga location in Denville so I was excited to try this location. When I arrived, there was only two other tables eating which was surprising but we were happy to sit in a booth and enjoy our time together peacefully. The waiters and waitresses were very responsive and service was very good from when we ordered to when we asked for second and third rounds and got fillups on our water and tea. The sushi came out fairly quickly as well as the hot food and everything tasted fresh. Hot food came out hot and sushi was not fishy. Especially enjoyed the salmon sashimi! The AYCE price was reasonable for the quality of food in my opinion, and overall I had a pleasant meal. I would definitely come again to fulfill my AYCE cravings. Having had a great experience at the Denville location of Miga Sushi, I was excited to see that they expanded their business to Livingston. They offer all you can eat sushi (have not tried), and regular non AYCE menu. I've been here twice since they opened, and this is the most reasonably priced sushi place I have ever been to. They do not skimp out on portion size. My friend that I came here with recently, we ordered a couple of rolls and ate family style. I am wary of sushi restaurants, as it is pretty easy to get food poisoning from sushi. The fish quality was top tier, and I had no stomach problems! I think the bill (not split) was less than $50. Very surprising. I feel like if I ever go to a sushi place, I end up with either an angry wallet or not full stomach (sometimes an upset stomach!). We had sashimi (salmon, yellowtail, white tuna, red snapper) as well as an array of standard and specialty rolls. Some included salmon avocado and California rolls, spider, dragon, rainbow and Denville King rolls. Everything was very fresh. The rolls were tightly and neatly constructed. My family and I decided to dine-in because my father wanted to try their katsu. We made reservations so we were seated pretty quickly despite it being busy. The decor was nice. We were seated in a booth so it cut down on the noise. My dad ordered the fish katsu. He liked it. I ordered the yummy maki, ama ebi, squid, and red clam. My mom had the spider roll, and my sister and her husband had the hibachi chicken. We all enjoyed the food. The only thing was that the servers don't check in on you so if you needed anything you have to flag them down, but otherwise it was okay. I will continue to go here to get take out. read more

I've stopped by the Miga Sushi in Denville before and excited to see more chains pop up of this restaurant! I would recommend making reservations for a group ahead of time. I did the AYCE sushi and it is a bit more expensive than other AYCE sushis I've had in NJ, but the sashimi pieces are the biggest I've ever seen, which definitely helps to justify the more expensive price point of $33 per person. We tried a few appetizers, special rolls and traditional rolls and they were all good and fresh! I wouldn't say anything there was anything that I really liked that stood out to me here though. Aesthetically, a nice upgrade from the previous tenant at this location, Ninja. Pleasant, relatively large, nicely appointed dining area. Clean and well lit. We were there on a Saturday around 5:30PM and the room was jamming. Very busy. Although, I'm not completely sure why? We started with an appetizer of edamame. It was served burning hot. It was apparently left in the microwave too long. Mushy and not very appetizing. I ordered Chirashi for my main course. Chirashi is typically served as sashimi over rice in a bowl. Miga serves theirs plated. Which is fine. However, I found the fish to be bland, watery, flavorless and served at an improper temperature. The consistency and texture of the fish wasn't quite right. This typically occurs when fish is thawed too fast. Additionally, the rice was all wrong. Sushi is supposed to be served over sticky rice. This rice was falling apart and didn't stick together at all. Lastly six of the pieces were cheap fillers. 2 pieces hake, 2 pieces scrambled egg, 2 pieces mock (fake) crab. There were also 2 pieces of what is advertised as white tuna which in reality isn't tuna at all. My wife ordered the sushi deluxe which she didn't finish. Which speaks volumes. I've been looking for a decent AYCE sushi spot and I think this has to be it. Big fan of their selection and their specialty rolls are really good. I found the fish for the sashimi to be a bit too cold for me, but happy with the sushi/nigiri and the rolls. Its also BYOB and they don't take reservations so make sure you get there at a decent time otherwise there will be a wait. We arrived 6:30pm on a Friday night and we're able to be seated immediately at the sushi bar because there was just 2 of us. But if you have a larger group, it will be tougher. It looked like around 7pm is when it really started getting packed. Love that it's also BYOB. They'll provide an ice bucket upon request. Green tea is $2.50 each but they bring you a tea pot. I've been to the location in Wayne a few times and always enjoyed it, and Livingston is much closer to my house. We went last night for all you can eat sushi. For $32.95 it's a good price for all you can eat. They have great rolls and a lot to choose from. I really enjoy their special rolls. I like their all you can eat because they don't add extra rice or make the rolls bigger to get you to order less like some other places. AYCE dinner at Miga is literally my favorite dinner of all time. The sushi and apps are so fresh. Pricing is reasonable. The owner is the sweetest and remembers my family because of how much we come in. We've even received special dishes not on the menu because we come in so frequently. I could eat this every day of the week for every meal. Restaurant is nice inside too! So happy that Miga opened a location in Livingston because we used to drive 30 minutes each way to Denville. We recently got a chance to try Miga Sushi's new restaurant in Livingston. We've been to their Denville location several times and have always enjoyed it, so we had high hopes. For the most part we were not disappointed. The restaurant is located in a strip mall near the Livingston Circle on Route 10 that also houses an Aldi supermarket and a Paris Baguette (which is also new). The interior is very similar to their other locations but somewhat larger. It's both pretty and comfortable, with a decent amount of space between the tables. So, you never feel crowded or cramped. It's also well lit, which is something I appreciated. The service was attentive and very friendly, which is something you don't always get at other AYCE sushi restaurants. At no point did we feel rushed, and the restaurant seemed to run like a well-oiled machine, which is also something that you'll appreciate if you've been to other AYCE sushi restaurants. Like Miga in Denville, the sushi is a cut above the other AYCE sushi restaurants I've been to in NJ, although it's still not what I'd describe as great sushi. Just like any AYCE restaurant, whether it's sushi or Korean BBQ, you sacrifice quality for value. That's not to say it isn't good. We enjoyed it and it was fresh, but definitely manage your expectations, especially if you're a sushi purist. One added plus is they offer sashimi on the AYCE menu without any quantity restrictions. As with most other AYCE sushi restaurants Miga offers two menus. One is for sushi and sashimi and the other is for salads, soups, appetizers, tempura, desserts, etc. They are both included in the AYCE price. The non-sushi food seemed a bit less consistent in quality than the sushi. Most notably, any fried item was very oily. My guess is that they let the oil temp drop from frying too much too quickly. It didn't make anything inedible, just a bit greasy. Perhaps it was just the night we were there. It's not something that would prevent us from returning. The selections that weren't deep fried we enjoyed more, and we especially liked spicy seaweed crab salad. To sum up, Miga in Livingston is a welcome addition to the area and the AYCE option is a good value and a lot of fun, especially if you go with a group. read more

Really amazing sushi restaurant. I unbeknownst to me have been working right around the corner from this spot and have never tried it and today I did...and oh am I glad I finally did. Absolutely delicious, fresh sushi. I really can't ask for more but it's in a great location with plenty of parking, the inside of the restaurant is like most sushi restaurants but has a nice modern vibe.
