Tiny Lil gem! I heard great things about this restaurant which is only a few minutes away from my favorite magic studio in town, mystique. I popped in for a quick dinner tonight. The prices for a reasonable. The sushi pieces were small but fresh, customer service was friendly and kind and the sushi chefs were outstanding! I was so impressed that they were willing to adapt my chirashi to my taste. Loved the $4 option to add Soup and salad. The truffle ponzu sauce was incredible! Loved the wasabi octopus! Next time I would probably do one of the omokase options Seating was very tight so it was a tad uncomfortable feeling can find especially sitting at the bar and being so close to where staff enter and exit the kitchen. They're only a few tables so I imagine the place gets busy and fills up relatively quickly. Realistically I would give this experience of 4.5 stars and I'm going to go ahead and round up to five because staff were so warm and accommodating.

my favorite hidden gem sushi spot in Mesa!! Every time we come the food is so good and satisfies the sushi craving. The specials are always so good we love the madai sea bream and the scallop with crab hand roll (off menu). The restaurant is small and intimate making it the perfect place for a date night. The fish is fresh and good quality.

It's a small izakaya with warm atmosphere. We ordered several yakitori , tempura, and sushi. The food quality was good, but need to wait for a bit even there was not packed. I liked the light batter of the tempura, and also the yakitori was grilled perfectly. It's on the pricer side but the freshness of food and friendly staff made it worth it.

Clean open concept eating area with a sushi bar. We came in around 12:40 (shortly after they opened at 12:30-2 on Sunday's) was peacefully quiet, enjoyed our rolls. Noticed there's a lot of take out orders for those that are conveniently nearby, as for us we aren't as fortunate living in QC. Yellowtail Serrano was refreshing, Firecracker Roll was our favorite, we ordered another before leaving! We also had Kyoto Roll and Truffle Tide Roll. Service was friendly, it seemed pretty slow with our order being made for just being only use dining in the whole time we were there, maybe because of order take out being made in between our waiting? I'm sure the evening is decent timing with more chef at the bar, as there was only one guy for the 2.5hr opening for the first shift on Sunday. Will be back to try other rolls on the menu. Thank you.

It feels like I'm in Tokyo! Incredible selection of fresh fish! Never disappoints for lunch or dinner. Service is fast and friendly. Great hidden gem with an authentic feel in and out!

From the minute I got there entirely too early for my reservation, the staff made me feel at home. There was only one table available; it's a small venue but the tables aren't on top of one another which I love. The incredibly sweet hostess and server were attentive and helpful; and were able to work the busy room effectively while still being friendly and appearing non-stressed. Our hostess also recommended sone delicious options for our dinner. We had the yellowtail to start and it was just extremely fresh and bright. The fried chicken tenders were a revelation- the batter was flavorful and spiced with flavors Colonel Sanders WISHES he thought of. The chicken was tender and juicy and it was served with what was listed as a spicy mayo but it was really not spicy, more mayo but orange in color. I am a little bit of a sauce snob since I make very good sauces and aïoli at home. California rolls were a solid offering- good and fresh. We had the amberjack in truffle which I think was a special that day and it was literally melt in your mouth buttery and delicate. Incredible. I do enjoy the occasional raw, but I also love cooked fish and when I said that to the hostess, she let me know that they get their fish flown in daily from Los Angeles and that they are happy to cook whatever we wanted them to. I loved that! We tried so many different things. We tried the pork belly, which was excellent, incredibly tender and juicy. We had a shrimp tempura roll. I forget the name of it, but it was fantastic and again everything is so fresh that it was a delight, and I didn't worry about any of it being raw. At one point either a manager or owner came through the room and made sure everyone was OK and enjoying their meals. I love when restaurants do this. You could tell that everybody who worked there was happy and that it was well organized. This whole experience was wonderful. Love this place and the people who work here!!

Such a cute little restaurant Don't be fooled by the outside, inside is quite lovely. Only has a handful of small tables and the sushi bar so if you're coming in a large group, I would definitely call ahead. The service was very nice and friendly, but the food came out very slow. Honestly I didn't mind since I was catching up but I felt bad when all my orders came out and my friends didn't have any of her food yet. Maybe they thought it was meant to share? But honestly not a huge complaint. The food was delicious. Higher price, higher quality, but smaller portions. Definitely recommend the soft shell crab, scallop nigiri, and Kyoto roll! I'd come back here for a date night :) Environment: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 5/5

UHHHHHMAZING! Small intimate place. They offer omakase which is cool. I'll have to come back and try! Servers are attentive. Started off with miso soup. The quality of fish is very very good. Salmon was buttery smooth. Albacore yummy. Philadelphia roll was filling. Will come back for sure!

We did it! We finally found our go to, neighborhood Japanese restaurant! It is rare to find a spot that has delicious sushi and also some of the comfort dishes my husband grew up eating like Oyakodon. Every bite we had was incredible. They had so many specials like salmon Kama and omakase that make ordering a delight! Service was incredible! We have wanted to try this spot for over a year but they do have varying hours that make it tricky but worth the planning!!!! The inside is adorable. Best bite of the day was of the toro, always get the upgrade!!

A small cute sushi restaurant. There's about 8 seats at the sushi bar and maybe 7 dining tables. The chef was amazing at picking out our sashimi as I don't usually eat raw sushi. Everything was fresh and the fish melted in your mouth. Waitresses were all friendly & attentive.

This is the best place to have sushi for somewhat of a reasonable price. Still the best! The service is super great and the waitress is super sweet.

One of my favorite go-to sushi spots. The sushi always tastes fresh and delicious, especially their uni and toro. The sushi rice was an addictive complement to the fish. My friend and I recently tried their tier one fall omakase and upgraded to the uni rolls. It was such a great way to try many of their dishes for a great price. The sushi chef and owner is super nice and very accommodating to his customers. You can tell his passion for his food. It's small and cozy inside. I definitely like sitting at the sushi bar to see the chef at work. I highly recommend.

I come to AZ every year to visit my bestie. And every year I look for a new sushi spot. I'm never blown away and so I look again. I think I can stop looking now. Finally, a sushi spot worthy of my discernment! Everything here is just STUNNING! Superb! Chen (I hope I'm spelling his name right) was our chef and crafted everything with such care. You could tell he was trained by the best and really loved his craft. Our favorites were the amberjack so much so we ordered it twice. Caroline was our server and she was so fun! We ordered whatever was the specials since those were the freshest and were always changing based on availability. White tuna, scallops, yellowtail and amberjack all our favorites. Even the uni was super buttery and on point. Shawn even gave us tamago which was homemade. So different from what I've ever had; you could tell it wasn't artificial. Truffle yuzu chef's kiss! I loved the little bar set up just perfect for my bestie and me. As much as I want to gatekeep, I just can't. Mesa you have a beautiful addition. Don't let the strip mall fool you. Come here!

Reviews are very good and so we gave it a try on a Saturday evening. When we arrived there were 2 people eating at the sushi counter, otherwise it was empty. During our time there another couple came in, so it was not busy and easy to get a table. The server was very friendly and service was great. For that I'll push my rating to 4 stars. For me, this place is personally 3.5/5. Everything was decent but nothing I would rave about. And that might just be me, because people love this place in other reviews. It was possibly just a bunch of little things that made me think it's just okay. I thought the texture of sushi rice was a bit too soft, I know it's sticky rice but I felt like it was a little over cooked and too soft. I also thought both of my rolls tasted exactly the same. Which thankfully I thought were good tasting. The stuffed jalapeños were definitely a miss, they were so under fried so mostly a mush of ingredients in a jalapeño. And initially I liked the karaage but had a couple of tough pieces, so overall that was just okay. Miso soup was solid. And I realize that the appetizers are cooked in the back and not by sushi chef, and people rave about the chef. However like I said, both rolls seemed pretty similar tasting and one was supposed to be more spicy. All very standard flavors, like I would expect from AYCE sushi. I think I'm just looking for more delicate flavors with higher quality pieces of fish. I likely should have tried some of the special items listed on the rotating items board near the sushi bar. Next time we go back I'll try sitting at the sushi bar and trying some speciality items. People have said this is the best way to enjoy this place. We will likely come back during a lunch or happy hour special, if I like it better and I can upgrade my review I'd be happy to give this small, local family run business all the stars.

My oh Maisen Katsu!…read more It's been a while since I ate at the H-Mart market eatery food hall, and not for lack of trying. I've been to H-Mart a couple times recently and wanted to eat there but it was closed, I went too late. Today I went for lunch-- And I'm glad I did, it was SO delicious. The food hall was busy on Thursday around noon, however still plenty of open seating available for me. Sometimes on the weekend you might be waiting for people to finish before finding a spot. Today was easy, peasy. My food was quick, took around 10 minutes. The orders were flying out of the katsu kitchen!! They call it out and you can see on a small monitor when your number is ready. I walked around the food stalls before deciding I wanted katsu. I'm very happy with my choice. The person in front of me was picking up their order and it looked really good. So I copied them-- #8 cheese katsu!! The woman taking orders was very friendly and helpful. I told her I would eat there but wouldn't finish it due to big portions so I tried to order it to go, she advised I get it regular and then box up the leftovers. She was so right! The presentation alone is fun like fajitas and she said it's all packaged separately when ordered for take out. Great tip from her. She could have just let me do that but she understood what I had told her. I chose the pork katsu, you can get chicken also. The #8 dish is served with katsu sauce/gravy, and mozzarella cheese sizzling on a skillet. On the side is rice and cabbage, and a clear broth. It was absolute heaven. This is a very decadent dish with all the cheese and sauce. And it changes the texture of the katsu, I could tell it was crispy but it also was covered in cheesy goodness so less crispy than the other katsu options. On the bottom of the skillet is the most crunchy cheese bits that you can scrape off to get that fried cheese goodness. And the portion was big, 2 pieces of meat! Enough that I had half of it to take home. This is definitely enough to share. Next time I'll try the katsu & udon combo or the katsu sando so that I get more of the crispy katsu texture. The cheese version is more smothered and covered, but very yummy though! On the menu they also have noodle dishes with soba, ramen, and udon. I can't speak on those since I didn't try them. There are lots of other noodle options in the food hall though, so I would definitely recommend getting the katsu, and if you also want noodles, the combo option. I'll definitely come back to this food stall when craving some katsu.

They were quite thoughtful in their serving and adds a tray on the plate for continued freshness. WOW they've thought of everything! The dish is plated with a bowl of white rice with sesame and black seeds sprinkled on top. It also comes with coleslaw that was incredibly fresh. The mayo tasted home made while the shredded lettuce was crisp. The miso soup and pickled radish also added to the great flavor of it all. Cannot forget the sauce for the katsu as well. The restaurant has a cute atmosphere, the music wasn't too loud, and they even had the FIFA World Cup on the TVs, which made for a fun place to sit and eat. If you order one of the sizzling plates, it comes with a bowl of miso soup. The miso was really good and didn't have that overly fishy flavor that some places have. We also tried the fried pork dumplings, which were pretty standard potstickers, but they were done well. The sweet and sour dipping sauce had just a tiny bit of spice that made it a little more interesting. The pork soup bao were another good choice, with plenty of filling and really good flavor. I ordered the Wagyu sizzling plate, and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. It comes out on an extremely hot plate, which gives some of the rice a nice crispy texture. First, Sizzling House sits around a plethora of amazing food options in the Mesa Asian District. It is a small eatery and very casual. We started with the dumplings and karage. These were where the rating dropped. I didn't find anything memorable about either... My friend ordered the tokontsu ramen with think noodles. I had a taste, and while I'd order it if wanting ramen, this was what I expect of good ramen. It hit the right notes on taste and the noodle s were cooked well, just nothing that would make me perk up if someone wanted to get ramen. The highlight, which would have made this a debate between 4 and 5 stars, and which I will go back for (already excited!), was the sizzling Angus beef plate with thick udon noodles. This was one of the better dishes I have had of late, and I am glad I got extra beef and opted for the black pepper sauce. The thinly sliced beef with the thick udon noodles was a perfect pairing, and I ate this much faster than I meant to, not leaving any leftovers despite the add ons. Food came out quick. Staff was friendly.

It's definitely a place worth visiting, and I'll certainly be back to try the curry and ramen next time!
