We stopped into Makitto Sushi and I'm already planning my next visit--and telling everyone about this place! It is magic. We tried two rolls: The Birdgang Roll - unique, super flavorful, and had the perfect little zing. I didn't even need soy sauce, which never happens! The Fire Dragon Roll - the kick combined with the eel sauce was incredibly well balanced. So good. We also ordered sashimi and nigiri, and this is where Mikito really won me over. I don't normally eat sashimi because I usually find it too fishy, but the quality here was on another level. * Bluefin Sashimi: melt-in-your-mouth delicious. * Yellowtail Sashimi: super light and clean. * Salmon Nigiri: not fishy at all--just buttery and delightful. Everything tasted unbelievably fresh. We sat at the bar and chatted with Jay, the owner and chef, and he was fantastic. Great conversation, clearly passionate about what he does, and the service overall was friendly and prompt. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend!! If you love sushi--or even if you think you don't--give Makitto a try. It's truly a standout.

I don't know why it's taken me so long to go inside this tucked away gem at Mesa Riverview. Excellent customer service, casual dining area and some delicious food. I enjoyed the quality and presentation. We will definitely be back to explore more menu items.

I came here with my son after his swim class next door. I have known about this restaurant for a while but had not stopped by previously to check it out! The restaurant was not crowded when we came at noon. Service was very fast and I really appreciated some thoughtful things they did that made the visit special. They brought out a plastic piece to put on my son's chopsticks to make them easier to use. The other really cool thing is that we ordered some sushi and they brought it out on a small sushi boat! The sushi menu is pretty standard. The fish is fresh and the sushi quality was very good. The ambiance is nice too.

It's good. Not over the top or anything weird going on just better than average sushi for AZ. Took the family and they all agreed...delicious. I'm Japanese born and raised, my mom worked part time in a Japanese restaurant when I was growing up. A family owned and run place just like this one, that makes it more special. Service was a little slow but for a small family owned place it was great. We ordered several rolls, appetizers and dishes which all were very good. Live in California but we visit often enough, so this could be revisited. Last word...nice.

Excellent sushi options at this locally owned gem. The Spicy Tuna roll, Lollipop roll and Candy Cane roll were superb. Great atmosphere and service also offering a special holiday menu.

We visit from Chicago several times a year and we wanted to try some Sushi since it's my favorite food to eat. We ended up finding this place. There is not very many Sushi spots to choose from in the area. We arrived with no reservation and were greeted immediately and sat down. Their menu was easy to read and well put together. They don't offer all you can eat but I noticed that's not really offered in the Phoenix Metro area. We tried several of their menu items. The Miso soup and Edamame are pretty good. We tried 4 different rolls and out of the 4 only one was to my liking. The 3 did not look good and did not have good flavor. The HEATSTROKE roll was the only one that looked fresh and had plenty of color and just the right heat. The place was empty but after a while the rust came in. The inside of restaurant is clean but not fancy just basic looking. Out server was very nice and took care of our needs. Me personally I think it's over priced for the quality and Ambiance you get. Normally what I get is half the price in Chicago and it's much better quality. I know we're not in Chicago but I love Sushi and I'm rating on my experience so that other sushi lovers get an idea what they are getting. Would I come again Yes.

Service was fine. However , the sushi was not it. Was hoping for a good sushi spot in mesa. but unfortunately we still don't have one yet. Below are the pics of our fishy and slimy not fresh sushi. The gyozas and egg rolls taste like they came out of the freezer and were like EXTRA fried. if you're looking for good sushi you'll have to travel to tempe.

I can roll with Makitto Sushi! I was in the area and stopped by to order food to-go. I came in on a Wednesday, shortly after they opened and was pleasantly surprised they already had a few customers dining. I was greeted and assisted right away. I briefly looked over the menu and decided on the agedashi tofu as well as a couple of sushi rolls. It was ready within 10-15 minutes. I was so hungry and the food smelled so good. I went in my car and scarfed down a few pieces of tofu and rolls before moving on with my day. Everything was delicious and fresh! Really enjoyed everything. Would definitely return. They offer a really good happy hour from 4:30-6:30pm with food specials starting at $5 and drink specials starting at $3!

The best sushi in the scottsdale area! Very fresh fish and casual vibe. The owner is wonderful!

The spice levels felt pretty accurate, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the meat was tender, and the noodles had a great texture. Each bowl had its own flavor profile, but both were equally delicious. We also tried the takoyaki (octopus balls). I was already getting full, so I wasn't as excited about them, but my boyfriend described them as a BBQ pancake bite. My oh Maisen Katsu!…read more It's been a while since I ate at the H-Mart market eatery food hall, and not for lack of trying. I've been to H-Mart a couple times recently and wanted to eat there but it was closed, I went too late. Today I went for lunch-- And I'm glad I did, it was SO delicious. The food hall was busy on Thursday around noon, however still plenty of open seating available for me. Sometimes on the weekend you might be waiting for people to finish before finding a spot. Today was easy, peasy. My food was quick, took around 10 minutes. The orders were flying out of the katsu kitchen!! They call it out and you can see on a small monitor when your number is ready. I walked around the food stalls before deciding I wanted katsu. I'm very happy with my choice. The person in front of me was picking up their order and it looked really good. So I copied them-- #8 cheese katsu!! The woman taking orders was very friendly and helpful. I told her I would eat there but wouldn't finish it due to big portions so I tried to order it to go, she advised I get it regular and then box up the leftovers. She was so right! The presentation alone is fun like fajitas and she said it's all packaged separately when ordered for take out. Great tip from her. She could have just let me do that but she understood what I had told her. I chose the pork katsu, you can get chicken also. The #8 dish is served with katsu sauce/gravy, and mozzarella cheese sizzling on a skillet. On the side is rice and cabbage, and a clear broth. It was absolute heaven. This is a very decadent dish with all the cheese and sauce. And it changes the texture of the katsu, I could tell it was crispy but it also was covered in cheesy goodness so less crispy than the other katsu options. On the bottom of the skillet is the most crunchy cheese bits that you can scrape off to get that fried cheese goodness. And the portion was big, 2 pieces of meat! Enough that I had half of it to take home. This is definitely enough to share. Next time I'll try the katsu & udon combo or the katsu sando so that I get more of the crispy katsu texture. The cheese version is more smothered and covered, but very yummy though! On the menu they also have noodle dishes with soba, ramen, and udon. I can't speak on those since I didn't try them. There are lots of other noodle options in the food hall though, so I would definitely recommend getting the katsu, and if you also want noodles, the combo option. I'll definitely come back to this food stall when craving some katsu.

There was enough seating as well and customers didn't linger either so plenty enough tables and seats to go around. The wait wasn't long either. They also announce the number on your ticket as well as display it on the screen. The chicken katsu was fried golden and continued to retain its crunch thoughout the meal. They were quite thoughtful in their serving and adds a tray on the plate for continued freshness. WOW they've thought of everything! The dish is plated with a bowl of white rice with sesame and black seeds sprinkled on top. It also comes with coleslaw that was incredibly fresh. The mayo tasted home made while the shredded lettuce was crisp. The miso soup and pickled radish also added to the great flavor of it all. Cannot forget the sauce for the katsu as well. If you've never tried this dish or this restaurant, don't wait any longer. Don't walk, run!

The restaurant has a cute atmosphere, the music wasn't too loud, and they even had the FIFA World Cup on the TVs, which made for a fun place to sit and eat. If you order one of the sizzling plates, it comes with a bowl of miso soup. The miso was really good and didn't have that overly fishy flavor that some places have. We also tried the fried pork dumplings, which were pretty standard potstickers, but they were done well. The sweet and sour dipping sauce had just a tiny bit of spice that made it a little more interesting. The pork soup bao were another good choice, with plenty of filling and really good flavor. I ordered the Wagyu sizzling plate, and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. It comes out on an extremely hot plate, which gives some of the rice a nice crispy texture. Everything was cooked well, and the overall flavor was really good. The service was excellent too. There were two servers taking care of the dining room, and both were friendly, answered our questions, and stayed on top of refilling our water throughout the meal. First, Sizzling House sits around a plethora of amazing food options in the Mesa Asian District. It is a small eatery and very casual. We started with the dumplings and karage. These were where the rating dropped. I didn't find anything memorable about either... My friend ordered the tokontsu ramen with think noodles. I had a taste, and while I'd order it if wanting ramen, this was what I expect of good ramen. It hit the right notes on taste and the noodle s were cooked well, just nothing that would make me perk up if someone wanted to get ramen. The highlight, which would have made this a debate between 4 and 5 stars, and which I will go back for (already excited!), was the sizzling Angus beef plate with thick udon noodles. This was one of the better dishes I have had of late, and I am glad I got extra beef and opted for the black pepper sauce. The thinly sliced beef with the thick udon noodles was a perfect pairing, and I ate this much faster than I meant to, not leaving any leftovers despite the add ons. Food came out quick. Staff was friendly.
