Happy Sunday Evening, on a few errands we ran earlier in the week Jen noticed Icons Sports Grill had a sign out displaying 70's & 80's music on Sunday so instead of sitting around we headed on down to check Icons out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wow, I'd say this place is one of the coolest inside, the decor is done very well[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the staff was very friendly and prompt on our drink orders, the food menu looked pretty good but it was just drinks tonight. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music was really good, nice just sit and relax while the band played song after song of the 70's & 80's[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We had a couple of our good friends join us for drinks, Jen & Andra did some dancing and looked to be having a great time. Love seeing good live music and decided to drop in Saturday night with some friends. We had stopped coming for a while. We live close & liked to come here occasionally on weekends to see the bands. We hoped it improved but was disappointed. The food is high-priced & mediocre for bar food. The wait staff is friendly, but since they're stretched across too many tables it becomes a struggle to get their attention for service. And as a further letdown, Icons still has the same overplayed, tired bands on rotation that play the same unchanged, worn‑out sets list since the last time we were there .....and who also apparently think it's 'cool' to for them to bring 5 friends on stage for courtesy performances ....or constantly throw birthday parties that are disruptive & limiting to the rest of the patrons. Tonight was no different. Are they there to perform for the bar or their friends coz that's what garages & backyards are for. Maybe its the few groupies they draw that haven't let go of yester-year .....or worse, the elderly crowd -from what we can determine - are either swingers or passed the age of caring that NO ONE wants to watch 65-75yr olds bump & grind on the dance floor that appeals to Icons. Every venue has it's demographic but it might be time to change the 'record player'. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall atmosphere feels medicinal, the dance floor is awkward, & the place still clears out around 9:30 - 10:00 and left us wanting to go elsewhere[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Moved in recently within walking distance of this place. We got a coupon in the mail so we decided to give it a shot. WOW. Pretzels were great, burger was remarkable and service was very friendly. One of the best burgers I have had in recent memory. Juicy and cooked great. When I ask for a medium burger when dining out, very rarely is it cooked right. These guys were on point. Our child really liked his chicken nuggets too and he's a picky eater. Great prices for happy hour too. We will DEFINITELY be coming back soon!! read more

This place is a HUGE disappointment. Catching flights had quality food and good portions. Now everything is clearly frozen and haphazardly plated. This place is a MUST for Sports fans, live entertainment, epic customer service. My husband and I came here to watch the Cubs game and get something to eat. 9/29/24: Well, despite the earlier review from 7/16/22 (I said we wouldn't be back), we came back -- although we didn't know it was a return trip until we pulled into the lot (my sister picked the restaurant and neither of us remembered being there before). Ah well. As we walked in, though, it started coming back: that we did not remember being overwhelmed by the previous visit. I must say though, this go around was much better. The food was hot, with a few different items on the menu. the two pretzels were huge, as well as burn-your-fingers-hot, plus the wanton-wrapped deep fried pickles were a nice addition. We did not have any cocktails this time so I cannot say if there was an improvement since out last visit. Went here last night, first time trying it. The pizza was decent, I feel like it needed more cheese. With more pizza topping options. Hubby loved the street tacos. Service was good. So let me start by just saying the new owner is a tool. I hope you guys tank, hard. We had been going to catching flights for years. They recently announced a name change so we decided we should use our $20 gift card and told by both the server and bartender that "the owners" are not allowing the gift cards to be used. So your receipt still says catching flights yet you won't honor a $20 gift card under the same name? Bro it's still 2024, you hadn't officially changed the name yet. So we definitely won't be back. We went here for lunch after a good weekend hike. This place used to be Hanger 9 and then became Catching Flights. We were told it is under new management recently and that it was a welcomed change by the staff The place is nice and clean. The bar has plenty of seating and the TVs are all in great locations for views. The wait staff was on point. Never giving but always available. The most impressive part was that the bar keep (Kelly)knew how to make a good old fashioned. Great service, great food and great drinks = I'll be back again. read more

First timer! The food was really good. My friend and I sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the Nütrol girl giving away free drinks- that was awesome because their seltzers are yummy! For food we ordered the CBR (chicken, bacon, ranch) quesadilla and half order of hot wings and shared them. The Sunday football games were on and the atmosphere was loud and fun! Our bartender was mildly efficient even though it was super busy at the bar top, he also had tables and was running the bar well by himself (making drinks for the restaurant & servers). HOWEVER his sarcastic demeanor and extremely rude attitude was un called for. I had to repeatedly tell my friend "that's just him it seems like" and he said "okay...sure if we were regulars or knew him personally but not for first time guests you've never met". I agree. At one point he completely ignored our side of the bar and when we FINALLY flagged him down for a drink he said SUPER LOUD for us to hear "god dammit you made me forget what I was doing" and my friend said "sorry bro" and then he slammed my friends drink down and walked away. If I could give zero stars I would. Can't speak for the food quality since we never got it but if you want a summary of the review below it's this... don't waste your time and money here, with so much good food within a couple miles of this place you'll thank me (Helluva Brewing Co, The Perch, Moonshine Grill, Fat Willy's all hands down better). I'd be shocked if this place is open in another year anyway. We arrived at Icon's a couple minutes before 7pm. No wait, waitress took some time to get drinks going but understandable as she was literally the only server for the entire floor. Only other employees were one bartender and the manager who apparently thought his time was best spent meandering around changing TV stations than running his business. Got food ordered and noticed a large group that came in after us but sat nearby. We ordered one pizza and two sandwiches (both sandwiches were the same). Food order was in to the waitress around 7:15pm, around 7:45pm waitress apologizes and says the large group caused our food to go in late. Again still not a huge deal as we were in no rush but a little annoying. By 8:10pm, more than an hour after our arrival and after watching the manager literally play with the TV controls for 10 minutes I had enough. I approached him and told him the situation and asked that he close us out and cancel any food as we had been waiting an hour. Instead of even a token apology he unprofessionally proceeds to dismiss my concern and try to show me how my food order did not reach his kitchen until 7:20pm, no kidding as again there was ONE server! Keep in mind it is still 8:10pm, it does not take 50 minutes to make a single margarita pizza and two French dip sandwiches when your restaurant is half empty. To top it all off our bill for 2 draft beers and one very small glass of wine over our entire 1hr and 15 minute stay was $30! I tipped the waitress her 20% and called it a night. Again, save yourself the bad experience and spend your hard earned money somewhere else. You'll thank me for it! read more

I really wanted to like Icon Sports Bar, but my experience was a complete letdown from start to finish. We came in on a Saturday night expecting a lively atmosphere and decent food--what we got instead was a 50-minute wait just to be acknowledged by a server. The place wasn't even packed, but it seemed like there were only two people working the floor. One of the servers looked overwhelmed and the other server acted like we were an inconvenience every time we asked a question. No smiles, no apologies, just an attitude like we should've known better than to show up. When we finally did get to order, our food took over an hour to arrive--and when it did, it came out cold. My friend's burger was missing toppings, and my wings were dry and lukewarm. We tried to get someone's attention to fix the order, but they avoided our table like the plague. Not sure if it was an off night or if this is just how they run things, but between the slow service, unfriendly staff, and mediocre food, I won't be coming back. There are plenty of better spots in town where they actually care if you're there. read more

I decided to go to this restaurant to get some fish dinner and my wife wanted to try their beef sliders . This restaurant and bar had the name change to Icons Sports Bar. Well they were busy but not full of customers. My fish was ok for the fish that they used. The fish was like the frozen fish that you get at the store. They were oily and mushy. Not firm like they should be. I did eat the fish because I was hungry. My wife sliders came out and looked like they used a flamethrower on them. I had several employees come by and asked about our dinner. I showed them the sliders and if they think that they would eat them this way. The first two just said that they were sorry about the sliders. Nothing else was said. Then we had Michelle from the bar area come over and she went out of her way to make it right. First she had two more sliders made and talked to someone to get the cost of the sliders removed from our ticket. I wanted to be sure that the owners of the restaurant and bar know that you have a fantastic employee that knows how to take care of issues with their customers. Thanks you for your help and service to us. I have lived in the Islands Community for over 32 years and tried to help out our local restaurants and businesses. I will come back only due to Michelle going out of her way to help out. I will still ask everyone to try this location due to every restaurant could have a bad night in the kitchen. Arrived on a Saturday evening to watch a good band they had playing. Ordered my first drink, a Long Island ice tea at 7:18pm, according to my receipt. Enjoyed the show and had six more Long Island's. I normally only have 3-4 on a night out, but felt completely fine all evening, not really even a buzz. Didn't order any food and my bill was $78.47. Closed my check at 10:18pm and got a ride home. Went next door to my neighbors who works in law enforcement and asked to try his department PBT. I measured out to a 0.027 at 11:24pm. How could have this happened? My Humpday Happy Hour Crew came here to check it out based on a recommendation from a family member. It was a sit where u want, casual type of place. Even in this COVID BS the place was hoppin. Bar was going off with lots of regulars. There is also a dining area if ur not a fan of high top tables and lots of people. I was greeted right after I sat and served a cold beer immediately while I waited for the rest of my party. We ordered the fried avocado to start which was pretty good. Mixing the good fats with the bad ended up quite tasty! Many of the food items were available in a 'flight' so u can have a taste of multiple items which I love. I had sliders - Buffalo chicken, pulled pork and Philly cheesesteak with tots. The sliders were a little on the salty side but delicious. The pizza was good but could use a more flavorful sauce and my hubs said the side salad was the bomb. The Chicago dog was good, the bun was lame. Awesome they used dill relish instead of sweet relish tho. SoCo dry rub wings looked amazing and my father in law made multiple comments on how good they were. I loved the fantastic music! They played everything from 70s to Miranda Lambert to Static X to hip hop. It was so energizing. Sean the GM was super cool, running food and talking to tables. You can tell when a manager sincerely cares if the patrons are having a good experience and he delivered our food from the kitchen and checked on us a couple of times. Totally awesome dude, you can just tell. The servers were hit or miss, coming around when all was good but then seemed to disappear when we needed refills etc. That being said it was their first night back open and they were busy so no fault there. What a great theme and fun concept. Flights are offered in categories like margarita, mojito and martini. Nicely presented with proper garnish. The flight is about equal to 1.5-2 drinks so it's priced fairly. The menu has options for full meals, burgers, sandwiches, pizza and entree salads or special flights of tacos and more. They're just getting started so even though there were some small errors in our orders they were cheerfully corrected. The staff was fun and friendly. We would love to see more airplane theme items throughout, I think it would be a lot of fun. (Update - the owner let me know they will be adding more themed items, perfecting what they have now. Was very shocked by this place, it was recommended by a friend. First off we went at 4:00 on a Friday and it was pretty packed. There was a live band which was nice. Now the cubano was absolutely amazing everyone has to try it. The cheese dip was so good. The grilled chicken was cooked perfect with good seasoning. Fish and chips was also pretty good. It wasn't terribly busy, the waitress checked on all of the surrounding tables, but nobody ever stopped by our table. Walked out with zero service or recognition of our existence. One of mine and my husbands favorite places to go! We bring all our family/friends who visit us here. The food is always good and the service is amazing! Especially Vi, she is the best! This place has SO MUCH potential. Im here to watch a playoff hockey game that I follow religiously. I have been here for over 2 hours and asked probably 10 times to simply have one tv changed to the game. The first time I asked they changed it but accidentally put it on the wrong channel, which is understandable and fine because as they were looking for it I saw the correct channel right above it, since then I have asked 9 or so times to have it changed. That's one thing, the other is that my waitress NEVER comes to check on us. The restaurant is probably 25% full yet im rarely seeing my waitress. Food was very subpar, id give it a 6 out of 10. When I say this place has a-lot of potential I really mean it, super cool and nice bar but the staff is ridiculous. EDIT: As I was leaving, 2 of the waitresses were outside with their boyfriends, one was leaving and the other was just very unprofessionally standing there hugging and kissing her boyfriend against the wall with his hands on her ass.
