A friend and I stopped by here late evening. It's nice that there's a spot open later in the area. The water was friendly and attentive. It was a perfect spot to catch up over food. The King Creole was a great appetizer to share with big shrimp in a Creole sauce. Without the garlic bread, it was slightly saltier than I'd like but with the bread it was a bit more balanced. Obviously a local dive bar. Or wanna be sports bar. Monday at 3:30 I was one of eight patrons, 1 of 5 at the bar. I ordered a beer and was served right away. Sat at bar for 30 minutes, 10 minutes with an empty glass. The bartender knew everyone else in the bar but me. All of her attention was given to those others and after walking past me half a dozen times without asking if I wanted to eat or have another beer I left $5 on the bar and went somewhere else to have a meal. read more

Large variety of food to choose from on the menu, daily specials and happy hour. Prices are reasonable. Indoor, bar and patio seating available. I like the patio seating area with the stringed lights. We stopped in for dinner after driving in from Vegas not knowing that this restaurant has a Vegas theme, thought it was cool. Friendly and attentive staff. It took us a while to decide what to eat cause there's so many choices. On the menu: Pierogi's "Potato and cheese pierogies sautéed with bacon, and onions. Served with a side of sour cream." Clam Chowder Soup (cup) - it was the soup of the day. Fish Fry - 3pc Fish, Fries and Coleslaw Buffalo Chicken Wrap no tomatoes with Onion Rings The food was excellent! The Pierogi's were delicious the bacon and sautéed onions were perfect and the sour cream made it so much more delicious. The Clam Chowder made just how I like it creamy and tasty. The Fish Fry was good lightly battered and not too greasy. The French fries and onion rings were good. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap without tomatoes was the bomb.com! The right amount of buffalo sauce and the breaded chicken portions was perfect. I am actually craving it right now as I'm writing this review. Haha. First time at Lucky Lou"s in Mesa. Had a casual weekday dinner with friends. This is described as a Vegas themed American Sports Bar. The place looked a bit aged as I was sitting in the parking lot. Saw an old guy carrying a take out order. Looked like the Professor in Back to the Future. He looked pretty casual, must have forgot his dentures. He had trouble opening the door to the car, set off the alarm but finally got in. As I entered the restaurant, did a quick walk around and noticed the place was busy. My initial reaction after walking around was to leave. Place looked old, smelled like a grungy bar with lots of old people from a movie set. I then recall, I too was also an old person, and the hostess asked if I was dining in so I said party of three. I took my seat at a large overstuffed worn booth. Menu had a large selection of sandwiches, burgers, salads and entrees. I had a ribeye steak with two sides. Steak was good, fries were tasty. Coleslaw was ok. Prices very reasonable. Service was good. Place is popular. They have other locations in Chandler and Queen Creek. Don't think I will be back, unless in the area and want to step back into Old Vegas. read more

Gluten free eater here. Atmosphere is like a local bar restaurant joint. It felt comfortable. Sports on. Outside full. Local joint. I ordered water first before a drink. My water had a lemonade taste. It must have come from the same spout. my friends water was fine. I ordered a spicy showgirl and it was terrible. Worst drink I've ever had. She didn't charge me for it. Says most people don't like it. I got a margarita instead. It was okay. Seemed pretty watered down. I asked if the peanut sauce was gluten free. The waiter forgot and I asked they go back and find out. It is not gluten free. I ordered a southwest chicken sandwich without bread. Wait staff wasn't sure if the fries were battered, but thought they were. I took a risk and ordered the sweet potato fries. I'm pretty sure the sweet potato fries were battered. But that was on me since didn't ask. My husband was not impressed with his burger. And my friend ordered a Cubano which he didn't finish it all. He said he's had better. Came here on a weekday around 6:30pm and there were 3 people waiting for a table. There is a large "PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED" sign in the front. We could see the cooks through the cutout but no host appeared. The server saw us waiting. 10 minutes later, 4 more people had showed up. So now 10 people are waiting to be seated, per the sign's request. The server saw us, continued to ignore us. Finally one of the people waiting asked a cook if there was a host and he said to seat yourself. Huh? If the service was this bad already, imagine how bad it would continue to be. Four of us stopped in to this location for lunch on Saturday. Our server, Jozelyn, was friendly, energetic and happy to serve us!! We ordered the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, and two different wraps, with fries and tots. All of our meals were delicious!! Cooked to perfection and piping hot. I see where I reviewed Lucky Lou's 11 years ago and gave it 4 stars, well now that I've been going there for 11 years I definitely think they deserve this 5 stars rating. It's a small sports bar with a very comfortable vibe. The inside has bar seating, high top tables, low tables, and booths...seating that'll make everyone happy. They also have a nice patio that's dog friendly. They even bring water for your dog. The patio has heaters and misters, good for any season. I normally only go there for lunch during the week and try to avoid busy times. Seating is limited it's good to get there early or later, especially on Friday or the weekend. They have a great selection of foods on their menu, appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and always a daily special. We've enjoyed everything we've tried. Their prices are very reasonable as well. My husband likes the French dip, hot pastrami, or club sandwiches. If you're a vegetarian then I'd recommend their hot vegetarian Philly sandwich. My go to meal is their house salad, it's large and includes all the good stuff including cheese and croutons. Sometimes I get the lunch special of a house salad and wings. The servers are awesome, very friendly and efficient. They keep an eye on you and are ready with another beer when you run low. Since we normally go for lunch during the week, Kathy and Shannon are regular servers. These two ladies have worked here for as long as we've been coming and that's over 11 years, that says a lot for management. Like I said in my original review, the place has a "Cheers" feel. I came to Lucky Lou's for dinner on a Sunday. They were busy. Most of the 7 televisions had football on. I didn't have a horse in the game so I didn't care much about what was on TV. The dining area is small and got noisy with the games and fans in the confined area. They offer a full bar with several draft beers and typical bar and grill food. I ordered one of their signature burgers. The Bottle Capper is a thick juicy charbroiled burger grilled to order served on a toasted bun with breaded deep-fried jalapeño slices, pepper jack cheese, and green chili sauce. All burgers come with lettuce, a tomato slice, an onion slice, and dill pickle. I chose French fries as my side. The order came out within 20 minutes. The burger was grilled to perfection. I was not crazy about the breaded deep-fried jalapeños, which breaded deepfried was not specified on the menu. The green chili sauce was a nice compliment to the burger. The burger was pretty good. All the toppings made it hard to hold while eating. Jalapeños were falling out and the lettuce and tomato kind of slid to the side. The fries were great. They had some kind of coating on them and deep-fried to a crispy golden brown. I enjoyed this meal and would come back to try other menu items, just not during a football game. read more

I don't know how many years I've driven past Lucky Lou's on my way to run errands or to go to other restaurants. It's just not on our radar. My husband and I finally decided to stop in. It's typical bar food but they have a good selection of items. We decided to split the High Roller burger, with my husband adding a bowl of chili for himself. The burger was great: cooked to order with a nice smoky taste, fresh bun, and crispy bacon. (Plenty of fresh produce too.) We both enjoyed it. I would give the wings a 7/10 and fries a 9/10. Not sure what I was expecting as I've never had Parmesan garlic wings before but it was a sauce instead of a dry rub which was different. The bar is loud most of the time, but it's because everyone is talking and drinking and eating...so basically everyone's speaking loudly. This is a good place to hang out and chill, it's a bit 'divey' but in the best way, which is what I like in a bar. Service at the back booths where we sat today was by Ashley, who was very helpful and checked often if we needed anything, so great service thanks!, and she was also super helpful and understanding when I -sadly - had to remark that the Chicken Fettucine Alfredo was ... well, it looked like it was all the leftovers from previous customers thrown in a pile on the plate. It used to be my go-to, silky-creamy and the chicken was in properly cut pieces; today it was scraps and some pieces looked like they were, well, not pretty... Anyway, the place is good for beers and hanging out; the appetizers are what we sometimes share, like the pierogi with plenty onions and bacon, fried pickles, a small wheel of baked brie and plenty more to choose from. We used to go there a lot with work friends, when it was lovely outside, now the heat is atrocious everywhere but inside the restaurant it's pleasantly cooler. Hubby enjoyed his chicken sandwich "The Pit Boss" and a side of mushrooms, a bit too much black pepper for me, but nice. I also had one of my fave cocktails, the Lemon Drop, and he had a Manhattan I think, both were quite more-ish. The bathrooms are separate for women and men, so I can only speak for the girls: it is wheelchair accessible although the sink may be a tad hard to reach from a wheelchair because it has a wide border around it; the facility itself and it was clean and tidy. Lucky Lou's is in our neighborhood and has been on our radar for quite a while now. We had just arrived back to Mesa on a Sunday afternoon from a long drive and didn't want to cook so we decided to have Lucky Lou's do that for us. This place has a sports bar vibe with lots of large screen TV's playing football games. We found a seat and our waitress was by to get our drink orders. After reviewing the menu, I decided on a classic cheeseburger and fries, because sometimes you just crave a classic burger. It wasn't too long after ordering that our food arrived and because we were hungry from the trip we dug right in. The first bite was so good! The burger was cooked medium well-just how I ordered it. It was topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and I chose provolone cheese. The burger came with a pile of hot, crispy fries. After finishing everything on my plate, I was stuffed and ready to go home and unpack from our trip. Since we moved to the far east valley, we have been enjoying new spots for dinner. This place is just a few miles from our house. The patio has misters, so a hot spring night with a slight breeze is an absolute dream! We waited for a table to be available, and the first was on the patio. Smoking is allowed out there, however, we were not bothered by it. Two TVs are easily viewed, and there is music playing from the speakers mounted outside of the building. I can't speak to anything inside, as we never went in, but I am sure it is just as pleasant! My husband had a Jack and Coke, I tried a Royal Berry. Both drinks were excellent!!! I ordered the Box Car burger with fries and it certainly did NOT disappoint! My husband had a pork tenderloin and macaroni salad. He said it was one of the better ones he has had. Both sandwiches were super huge and we could only eat half of them. One of our favorite parts was people watching, which is easy to do while sitting outside.
