I've been coming here exclusively for the past 10 years because 1) it's affordable, 2) they "know how to cut Asian hair" and 3) it was convenient. They are a staple of the community and you'll often find the place filled with long-time customers like me. Their wait system can be confusing for new customers. You sign in at the front and have the option to specify a barber or leave it blank and you'll get the next available barber. If you do find a barber you like, be prepared to wait a long time, or you can pay extra to schedule an appointment. Though I've had pleasant experiences here, I will be looking for new barbershops because: 1) 10 years ago it was affordable at around $10 for a haircut. Now it's $25 for a standard cut plus tip. I'm happy for them to get paid what they deserve. I don't know what other places are charging but my feeling is that the affordability gap has closed. 2) There have been multiple times the past few years that I have left frustrated with the inconsistency of my hair cuts. When I request a specific barber, I can sometimes be left their waiting for over an hour, so I typically will take any barber. Obviously different barbers have different habits, but my big grievance is the inconsistency when asking for a half inch trim. There have been times when the barber cuts off 2+ inches. I can't spend time and money on a place, especially before a big event, not knowing if I will like the haircut or not. 3) I used to live and work in Mira Mesa, so going here was convenient. Neither is the case anymore so this is super out of my way, especially with the terrible traffic on Mira Mesa Blvd. Nobody's fault, but I'm not going to go out of my way to sit in traffic for a haircut that I'm not sure I'll like. If I need a haircut and I happen to be in the area, I'll happily stop by for a cut and I would still recommend them to anyone in the area. But for me, I finally decided to start looking elsewhere for something that works better for my situation. read more

Walked in to get a haircut. Staff seem friendly. The gentleman that cut my hair was very professional. He made sure, he cut my hair exactly how I instructed him. Paid $28 + tip since he did an awesome job. Definitely coming back. Thank you. read more

Icut has founded by a Vietnamese barber, and to me it has never been just another Asian barber shop around the Asian communities of Mira Mesa Neighborhood. It is truly an authentic Vietnamese barber for keeping the cultural image of Vietnamese men thru time with the artistic skills to create many wonderful crafts with very limited ingredients/ technologies/ or even with a fair ground, nothing but bare hands, artistic and intelligent brains, hardworking with the mindset to connect everyone together with each and every customer's own request to customize the best looking and unique styles sometimes provide a little touch of idea from the barbers themselves to archive the most perfect for customers when they leave the shop feeling the adrenaline pumping thru their body by their new haircuts. Terrible hair cut, lazy barber. When I asked the guy to fix the haircut he said it was fine. Guy had a tattoo on side of neck. Worst barber ever. Don't recommend. Looks nothing like the haircut example I gave. Lazy and tried to gaslight me that the haircut looked like a photo I showed him. read more

Let me just start by saying...this shop has always been good to me, my friends, and family. I've been a patron of this shop since they opened 10+ years ago, my barber is Hung. This past week I entrusted him to cut my hair for my wedding because I knew he could make me look my best for one of the most important days of my life! He even followed up the day before the wedding to line me up for that extra sharp hairline. Call ahead and get your appointment for an extra fee, well worth it for their busy Friday/Saturday time slots. Found this place on Yelp and called ahead so I could go on my lunch break. Told there was no wait. Showed up and there was but no big deal. Waited around 15 minutes and had my haircut for around 5-10 minutes...when he grabbed the mirror and asked what I thought that's when I was speechless . My sideburns and bottom back of my head got cleaned up with a tiny bit off the top but the rest of my head went untouched. It's not worth asking someone who thinks that was a complete haircut to finish cutting my hair so I paid and left. There were a lot of people around me getting solid cuts and fades but I seriously have no clue how I left and have the same looking dome I left work with. My coworkers and I have been cracking up about it but I had to come here and say something. read more

Checked this place out for the first time and walked right in on Sat afternoon despite it being busy (they had a lot of workers compared to other barbers and salons around the area that we also scoped around the same time) Male haircut was $18 and the guy did a great job at evening everything out and giving the desired cut. My SO was very happy. Appointments cost $3 more. $2 fee if paying with card. read more

My boyfriend has been coming here for about 2 years. He doesnt have a designated barber and but had been always happy with his cut. Last week, he got his hair cut by a new person and unfortunately it didint come out well. We came back today and Tung fixed it for free of charge. Highly recommended! read more

I stumbled upon this business by accident. They are terrific and give you a great cut. The vibe is very calm and chill but they crank out the haircuts. There is usually a little bit of a wait but it's worth it. I notice many customers seem to specify a certain barber. I always take whoever is available. I have never been disappointed. I was a little hesitant taking my one year old since he's a little bit of a wiggle worm but the barber (I couldn't remember his name) was so patient with him! I took my son here today for the first time. Jack cut his hair and I absolutely love the way it turned out! We've had a few barbers in the past but NONE of them were as efficient and as fast as Jack, in my opinion. We were in and out in less than 20min! And the price point is UNBEATABLE for the quality that you get. My son doesn't really like getting his haircut but Jack was super good with him! He was patient and friendly! I'm not here to bash on any shops I just want to post this for awareness for the people. First off the shop is a quick and easy place to get your haircut. In and out service but importantly I think they need to take their time and be more careful with client protection! Just make sure that the barber clean the clients and sanitize/disinfect their tool, station, and supplies. I went in there for my first haircut at this shop and I'm not happy about it. After the haircut i notice a burn with a bump on the back of my neck. It's been there over three days now and it is still Itchin and Burning. God I hope it's nothing serious.. check out the pictures below. I really hope this business take more cautious for the public. read more

Popped into this place in need of a cut while in town. All the barbers looked like they knew what they were doing, the wait wasn't very long (esp for a Saturday), prices were solid ($14) and the perks were good too (water and snacks). I highly recommend getting your hair cut by T but I've also been to any of the staff and still get a great cut. Amazing service as well. Wait times are moderately long(15-20 minutes walk in) only because so many people go here. read more

Perfect for low tapers and fades. I got a low taper and my hair is straight, once i got home, something was off. My hair didn't really look how it was supposed to look so I applied texturing powder and my hair was perfect, this barber shop is a 11/10 at fades read more

I have been bringing my sons here for the past few years and I love it here! Staff is awesome, I just recently took my very talkative 4 year old and Luke was so kind to my son! This was my first time getting a cut here. I usually go to a close friend of mine so I was a little nervous coming in to a new barber. I had a little wait time even coming in right when they open but it's not a big deal. The staff was very welcoming and I appreciate their diligence in practicing safety measures during COVID. They put chairs socially distanced outside for you to wait and everyone is wearing masks. I had Hung as my barber and he was a cool guy. He listened to what I asked for and got straight to cutting. He cuts very fast and efficiently which was impressive. He immediately knew what to do with my hair and the end result showed that he really listened to what I wanted for my cut. I got a 0-1.5 low fade with a trim on top and it came out very well. He has good attention to detail and paid attention to every strike with his clippers. I recommend coming to this barber especially if you're Asian as they have a lot of Asian customers so they know our hair well. read more

My go-to barbershop every time I'm back in San Diego. I started going when I was in high school and now I'm balding, and in all these years I haven't had a bad experience. I go with Peter when he's around, but it's not just him - every customer I've sat next to is always complimentary of their barber and their cut. I've been coming here for almost a year now. Jack is great at cutting hair and I find no trouble squeezing in for last minute appointments, the team is really accommodating. Fair prices and skilled team, definitely a great place for regular haircuts or more advanced styles in Mira Mesa. I haven't tried anyone other than jack in the shop, but other customers seem to be leaving with fresh cuts, so I vouch for all the barbers! read more

I love this barber shop! Everyone there definitely does a great job with fades. I personally go to Hung and he hooks it up every time! The price is also unbeatable. $16 is a price you don't see in San Diego for the quality they produce. Look no further if you're in the Mira Mesa are **COVID-19 Update** Since COVID their prices have gone up, but it's completely understandable due to the lack of work for months. They've increased by about $4 which isn't much. They HIGHLY recommend appointments due to the high demand of people in the morning and early afternoons. read more

SHAME! A friend of mine went to this barber shop and got COVID. There was another review on here about how the barbers were getting too close and the shop responded by saying something about "taking a risk." Now, this would make sense if there were proper precautions taken, but THERE WAS NOT. This may sound like a heated review, but this friend is now missing an important life event as a result of contracting COVID. There may also be an argument made for "how do you know they got COVID at this barber shop?," but my friend clearly remembers the barber having to STEP OUT AS A RESULT OF THE COUGHING FIT THAT THEY GOT. Not only is this unprofessional, but a health risk to the public. I also saw that there are children that visit this shop, this makes me wonder for the lack of health consciousness being shown. read more

I called to see if we could swing by, and they said we could with my son. We get there and they were so rude and there were so many people waiting! On the phone they said they were available and it would just be 5 to 10 minutes. They seem to be money hungry and wanted us to show up anyways because when we got there they told us the wait was about 30 minutes! Obviously we left and will not be back for the rude gentleman by the front. Edit: I find it funny he asks me "why didn't you make an appointment?" Well I was paying next door and trying to save a few moments. So in the time span of 5 mins, you're right... must've gotta so hectic...... regardless, pretty sure rude is not a good quality for a business. read more

I've been coming to this Barber Shop for about 2 years now and have nothing but great things to say. They have about 5 barbers working at the times I go, so the wait isn't too bad. I've probably had my hair cut but every one of the barbers and never had a bad experience. They're all very friendly, and they all do a great job. I've been to this barbershop twice now, and have had great experiences both times. I take pride in getting a good haircut and both barbers that I've had the pleasure of experiencing here have allowed me to continue to take pride in that. $14 for a standard men's haircut and $16 for a skin fade which is a bargain and well worth it for the area. I think I've found my new local San Diego barbershop. read more

Once the employee was done getting her hair washed she was obnoxiously rude & told us the establishment was closes at 7pm; it was two min after closing time, but I replied to her all doors were open and signs were out. Her tone of voice and demeanor was aggressive and didn't seem she wanted to serve us as customers. I left the product on the counter and ordered it on Amazon, which was much cheaper. Do better and tell employees not to do hair until the establishment is closed meaning all doors and signs are put away. Shop appeared to be clean, but customer service was hostile and aggressive.

If this is how repeat customers are treated over the phone it's clear long term business isn't a priority. They've lost a customer and I won't be recommending this place to anyone.

When my nail technician completed my manicure, she announced, "same!" as if she declared out-loud my powdered pearlescent nails are now magically transformed into the requested nude chrome color. I wish they would've told me upfront that this cannot be done. I would not request for anything out of the basic mani pedi here.

One star. Pretty shocking. I use to go here all the time when I was in High School and it was decent. I went in today was something different. It's says ten dollars for a regular hair cut explained to the barber thoroughly and clearly how I wanted it done. He was complaining why didn't you tell from the beginning which I did. Saying that he might have to start over again. When I was done he charged me eleven dollars which I didn't have when I only had ten. He said "next time its going to be eleven." There won't be a next time because in my experience today that's just bad customer service. Your experience might be different. However, I highly recommend Mira Mesa Barbershop in the mall. I use to go there all the time as a child. They do it good there for only nine dollars. Two more recommendations is Prime time Barbershop and the new barbershop Cut & Dry A Gentlemen Blend. its more to a younger appeal. It's pricey but worth it for the extremely good quality service.Fifteen at Primetime they have top of the line razors and styling products. $35 at Cut & Dry which features hair washes, hot towels, straight razor shaving and more. They use high end razors and styling products. Cut & Dry also has complimentary drinks ranging from Water and Coca Cola to Heineken and Jacks. Bring your ID's. I'm an aspiring barber and I believe that barbering is an art which takes time and patience, it's not all about making money and rushing it. I know a lot people say Vietnamese Barbers talk smack about there clients and some of them do. I also read another review on here and it stated that. I came here a few times and had a regular cut. It doesn't matter who my barber was, my sides and back never seem to get the finishing touch. They were left the way I came in. Do I have to specifically request to have the sides and back straight up? Take care of your customers w details one at a time go a long way. As another customer pointed out, take your time. I always come here to get my hair cut, its pretty cheap and they do a great job! They messed up a little bit once but it wasn't super noticeable. The workers are pretty nice and they tend to joke around a lot. read more
