I never got the guy's name but he's the younger gentleman with glasses. He took his time and made my boy super happy. This place doesn't get nearly enough reviews because it's frequented by men that are just dropping by and running out again. But it's sooo underrated. I asked for a mid fade comb over. Throughout the cut I said "not too high" but I guess he had his own agenda since he proceeded to give me a high military fade and didn't square up my sides. At that point it was too late. He knew it too and tried to save it. Sides were uneven and it rounded on one side. At the end when I looked at it with a mirror I said "it's too round on this side." I handed him $20 and he snatched it from me. I enjoyed bringing my son here and also getting a straight forward mid fade but not anymore. Takes one screw up and I've learned my lesson. Hair is temporary but bad service sticks forever. All the other barbers seem cool but the one I'll avoid from now on is the older guy with glasses. read more

We've come here for my husband and both my sons' haircuts for years but it's gotten to the point where I'm convinced they don't care what you want. My son was there on Sunday and left crying so hard he threw up in the parking lot. My poor son grew his hair out for 6 months so that the top would be long enough to get the hairstyle he wanted. He even brought a photo and showed it to the lady who was cutting his hair. He asked for just the sides to be shaved and the top left long so he can style it like a fauhawk. What he got was pretty much a long buzz cut. Terrible just so terrible- I pissed my husband tipped her after what she did. Just look at the photos of what he asked for vs what he got. I love coming to this barber shop - it took me a few visits to figure out which Barber cut my hair to my liking and now when I arrive, I take a number, say hello to my preferred barber and sit and wait until he is able to take me. I read people complaining about being charged a few more $ to wait for your preferred barber - never happened to me. And I've read complaints about a lousy haircut - if you don't work with your barber on how you want your hair to look, then that YOUR fault, not the barber's. read more

I have half my head shaved. Jack is my normal barber, last chair, he does a great job everytime. He was on vacation, so I went to the older lady in the first chair. The rest of my hair is long to my chest so I clip it up tightly so it's out the way when they are cutting the shaved side. Today was the only time I ever have had a complaint and that's bc the lady cut into my hair on the long side. She acted like she didn't know what I was talking about, no apology, showed the guy working the chair next to me and he just smiled. So I guess it's funny to cut off someone's hair when you weren't supposed to. $20 for a cut, you get what you get I guess. Did I mention my birthday is tomorrow so this just sucks all around. The 3 stars is for the crap service I got today. If you go get cut by anyone, let it be the younger people behind the chair, or specifically Jack. My brother has always been a frequent at this barber shop, and my boyfriend recently came here too. It's interesting to see a price change from $7 to now $9...guess that's what happens when you have publicity word of mouth! Pros: -quick! I love how they seat you down quickly. (Or maybe we just have good timing) -friendly! All the staff members are super nice and if you talk to them, they try their best to smile. -good listener! Back up place to get my hair did when my primary too packed for me and they consistently do a decent job. I have come here at least very few months or so and the do me right. When I come here I just take whoever is available and I have not been disappointed. My primary place I use the same barber that I've gone to for years. My younger brother has been going to this shop for over 8 years - ever since he was in middle school! The prices have definitely increased over the years (now $11 for men's cut), but the service and quality is still the same. All the hairdressers are quick to seat you, and do a decent job with a standard cut. I've also gotten my hair trimmed here a couple of times, and it's pretty good for easy styles (layers, bangs). For the price, you can't beat this place! Located next to lots of eateries and a Lucky Seafood, so great for squeezing in a trip while doing errands. Lots of free parking in the plaza lot. Basically your get-in and get-out barber shop where cuts take about 15 mins. Typically I get my haircut at another barbershop, but I go here strictly just to clean up the fades after 2 weeks. For $11 haircut that's pretty decent if you have no expectations and just need a light clean up. I've had about 6 different barbers and all had fairly good medium high fades. I prefer this place than Lee's in Miramar. I went from cleaning up my own fades by myself then getting angry when I mess up to not being mad over $11. Get your main haircut somewhere else and clean up the fade here when it grows. read more

No consistency. Hit or miss depending on who you get. Even after you sort of figure out who the good barbers are, your favorite one has good days and bad days. I'm not picky. I have boring straight Asian hair. All I want is the clippered sides to be smoothly blended with the top and the bangs not to look like a bowl cut once the gel wears off. When they gel your hair, you leave feeling like you got a Hollywood haircut, only to be totally disappointed at home when the gel wears off. I keep coming back for lack of finding a better and more consistent place. read more

I've been coming here for a few years. A little out of my way but usually stop at the Asian grocery right next store to pick up items I can't find nearby. There is also a good smoothie place nearby as well so can do that too. I don't have that much hair in "right" places and more in the other areas so being able to specify 3, 5, round (for example) to any of the employees with same results each time is great. Very deterministic process and great people here. Just noticed they have outdoor service now so going to give that a try ... the other area hair around the ears is starting to bug me and last DIY effort resulted in a fail so best to support the experts here! read more

Have been having my haircuts here in the last several years. -parking: plenty since it is located on a big plaza @ the corner of Black Mountain and Mira Mesa. -I loved to having my haircuts done by the owner, but recently she charges you few more bucks for waiting for her (?) on top of regular haircut price, so in the last few times, I had my haircuts by random person. -today, I had a haircut by the lady in her late 50's or early 60's on station number 2 next to the owner's whom is always on station 1. She did a very lousy haircut. I wanted to have my haircut short on the back and 2 sideways, and keep medium on top. She kept asking me again, and again, and again...which was so annoyed. Even after multiple asking, she still could not do it right. Even she did a lousy haircut on me, I still gave her 3 bucks for a tip + 11 bucks for a haircut which was a total of 14 bucks. With this price and lousy haircut, I could get somewhere else which would do much better job than the lady whom did my haircut today. So disappointed! read more

Simple no fuzz, good communication! The lady even make sure it's 1" off the top, cut 1", not keep 1", and she make sure of that. This is my new found place to replace that other one. So far every single one of the professional barber did great jobs and I don't need to wait for a specific one. This place is very quick and a reasonable price. Got into the shop around 5:15, and seated in a barber's chair within 5 minutes of waiting. Barber got straight to the point and cut my hair per my request. No sidebar, just a haircut. Done within 15 mins. $11 per cut is very reasonable. Definitely coming back! read more

I go here on lunch sometimes for a quick cut. i even have some of the guys I work with trying it out after seeing my hair in a reasonable state, which is unusual for me. I really like Moon, she does a good job trimming my beard (taught me some tricks!) and she's cute! The Good: Cheap ($8 for my hair, $6 for my beard), fast, and there is usually an open chair. The Bad: Don't expect a shampoo or anything fancy.. "The View" is always on the TVs. The Ugly: I saw a 90+ year old dude here getting the wisps of hair he had left trimmed. I have come in twice. Once an older Asian lady cut my hair, the last time an older Asian male with glasses. I need to start remembering their names, because the haircuts have been phenomenal. Especially the older Asian man who cut my hair last time - gave me the best haircut I've ever had and 2 weeks later, the hair do is still amazing. Not only does he listen to exactly what I want, he has this intuition about how to cut according to how I part my hair. I've been to these "hair salons" that were $45 to $55 for a haircut. Trash! Great barber shop! I've been going here for the last three years. Before that, I would hop from barber shop to barber shop trying to find a place that cuts my hair just the way I like it. Low prices with plenty of good barbers. My go to barber here is John, he's the last barber at the chair closest to the bathroom. Hooks it up with the fades and gets my haircut right every time. I've come in a few times when he wasn't working and tried my luck with a couple other barbers and each time the results have been just as good. This place does get busy on weekends but there's usually a barber at every chair so the wait isn't too bad! read more

What is there not to like about this place. Quick, friendly and inexpensive. I have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes at this place. My hair is simple, 2 on the side and back, hand trimmed on top. Clean up around the ears, and tapered. I am a former Marine and am used to places like this. Cheap, fast, and no one speaks English. But, does their language really matter? Nope...it's a haircut, get over yourself. I am picky, but after a few cuts here I'm satisfied enough to keep going. I used to go to the fancy shops, but there are none up here in Mira Mesa. They also have a ton of barbers, and even though I go on Sundays around lunch time, I have never actually had to sit down and wait. They pump people out like crazy, and still do a good job. I've had 4 of the barbers by now and each one has been good. If the price was any higher, I'd give them 4-stars, but for how cheap and fast they always are, 5-stars. read more

Health risk? Came in for a haircut in early June and the barbers were wearing face masks. (I should have exited immediately.) But, I had the haircut anyway. That night and for weeks afterward I have had wringing-wet night sweats which awaken me in the middle of the night. Here's my honest opinion: If you speak Vietnamese and/or want to look like you just got out of bootcamp yesterday, this is the place for you. On multiple occasions I have told them not to fade it too high and today was the last straw, cutting it so high that my hand can almost make my hair disappear under it, regardless of me SHOWING them where to cut prior. Not sure how hectic it gets when packed, but I came in around 4pm on a Tuesday when they had a few people waiting. They called me up almost immediately and completed my buzz cut in less than 10 minutes. A plus was that no hairs where sticking out like I've had at other barber shops. There was a slight unevenness on a small part of my hair though but not significant. None of those conversations that salon people tend to initiate, which was another plus for me. All-in-all, will definitely be coming back for a quick and relatively cheap cut. read more

Took my 3 yr old son here for a trim and left with an abomination of a haircut. He has beautiful blonde hair and it was in need of a slight trim but I left with it nearly all shaved off. The 70+ yr old male barber wearing a surgical mask seemed to just cut and use the clippers in no sort or organized pattern. There were patches of hair longer than others and the sides were longer than the top. My son sat in the chair with his hair already combed with a clear part and it combed over in a wave type hairstyle. The part was ignored and instead he received a buzz cut until I had to physically pick my son out of his chair and removed him to another lady. I asked her to salvage it and fix the hair length. She attempted to fix what was unfixable but I more or less just accepted that it was botched and we'd have to wait until we went back home to Texas and our usual barber could reconstruct his hair after it grows back. This place is fine I assume for adults who want a mediocre haircut but for God's sake do not bring your children here. read more
