My first visit to Ideal Dental - Addison was a very surprising and pleasant experience. I was greeted pleasantly and did not have to wait long since my paperwork had been previously submitted. Kennethia Jones took my x-rays and even offered me her coat when I mentioned I was cold. After meeting with the dentist (also a pleasure), I met with Amber Watson for a cleaning. ADDISON, TX LOCATION: I highly recommend going elsewhere!! They are all about $$$$ and upselling. My daughter went for a routine cleaning and after waiting 20 - 30 minutes to be seen, they took a quick look followed by all the x-rays and she was then presented with a dental plan that included several "Phases". She was told she needed a deep cleaning (???), two fillings and spacers removed which was very odd because she had never been told that by any dentist before. After asking her to sign a paper agreeing to fees that were not explained, they did the deep cleaning (100% out of pocket because it's not something insurance recognizes). It literally took less then 10 minutes to complete & it didn't sound like anything more than a routine tooth polish. Then they tried to get her to do the fillings also. Thankfully, my daughter didn't have time for that or the spacer removal & whatever else they added to that "phase", so they attempted to schedule another appointment for her to come back. After hearing about it all, I called their office for an explanation of what a "deep cleaning" meant & why all the recommendations. The person who answered was the one who presented the "Dental Plan" to my daughter. When I asked for explanations, she was immediately defensive & repeatedly told me "I explained everything to your daughter, & she signed the paper agreeing to it all". I could hear someone in the background telling her what to say but after asking several times, they were unable to explain what a "deep cleaning" meant and why any of what they suggested was needed. Magically the Dr. was not available, & she said someone would have to call me back to explain. Needless to say, my daughter isn't planning to go back and I'm betting I don't get a call back. :-) SO BAD!!!!! They completely take advantage of people & should be ashamed!! read more

I didn't get a good feeling walking in. Appt for X-rays and cleaning. Girl who did X-rays could not be understood so I had no idea what she was saying, hygienist was ok. Asked dentist how long she'd been one and she said 6 years. Asked if she like it and she said no. They said I needed a deep cleaning that came to over $5000 without insurance. Didn't clean my teeth and said I had to come back for the deep cleaning. Never mentioned my crowns or other things. I got a second opinion and nothing about a deep cleaning. Literally the most worthless dental office period. I took my stuff and ran as far as possible to a private dental office. It wasn't the first time they mis schedule or mess stuff up. Ideal Dental Addison - Front waiting area - General Dentistry Near Me - Dallas, Texas

I had a wisdom tooth removal scheduled for April 12th. And the communication from Tina, a rep for the Ideal Dental oral surgery team was HORRIBLE from beginning to end. 1st issue - Tina calls me on April 7th (which is the first time I've ever spoken to her) to go over pre op instructions and my 7am appointment. So my appointment time was changed from 6am to 7am, without me being made aware. And when I mention this to Tina, she tells me "it's only an hour. You would've been there until 7 anyway. 2nd issue - On Saturday (April 8th), I call and text the only number I have ever been provided to get in contact with the oral surgery team, with no response to ask a follow up question. Understandable, as it was the weekend, so I figured they were closed. On Monday (April 10th), Tina texts me and (very dryly) says she tried to go over all of the instructions Friday and to give her a call. I believe it is a reasonable expectation that a person preparing for surgery could follow up with the surgery team for additional questions but I guess that is not Tina's mind frame, since she acted as if I was inconveniencing her. Third issue - Tuesday, April 11th, she texts and calls me at 3pm to confirm pre-op instructions, mentions a $250 price difference for oop costs, and then tells me I have until 4pm to respond or else my appt will be cancelled and deposit forfeited. I call and text her back at 3:20pm and again at 3:40pm. In my texts I mention that I had just called her. She calls back at 4:45pm and tells me she doesn't know which number I called. When there had only been 1 number she has ever called from and provided to me. And that we have communicated on. Tina then tells me the reason for the price change and that the initial costs were just an estimate and the surgeon looks everything over and determined a final price. Understandable. I would like to then cancel my appt and get my deposit back since I wasn't made aware of this price change within a reasonable time frame. We proceed to get in a screaming match as she tells me if I cancel my appt less than 24 hours beforehand, I lose my deposit. I tell her - you told me hours before my appt of a $250 difference in price. You didn't give me a chance to cancel 24 hrs beforehand. She says she tried to contact me on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. We spoke Friday, no mention of a difference in price. She never tried to call me Saturday. And the only reason she contacted me Monday was to respond to a text I sent Friday asking about the last day I could have an alcoholic beverage. She NEVER mentioned anything about price. She then offers to reschedule me and take $100 off the oop costs to "meet her half way". I again say, I would like to cancel my appt and get my deposit back. She tells me she cancelled my appt and says I have to speak with the office for my deposit back and that she is just a messenger. When I ask her for a place to write a complaint about her she repeatedly tells me she is not going to debate with me and threatens to disconnect the call. I ask two more times where I can write a review and then she tells me to call the office. I call the office the next morning and the immediacy offer to refund my deposit with no issues and concerns. I am still currently waiting for the refund. I WOULD LIKE TO BE VERY CLEAR. LITERALLY EVERY OTHER PERSON HAS BEEN EXTREMELY KIND, RESPONSIVE, AND EASY TO WORK WITH. A member of their leadership team has already reached out to me to apologize and try to rectify the situation. He was extremely nice. I recommend Ideal Dental Addison unless you have to get any oral surgery procedure and have a chance of speaking with Tina. I hope this is a learning experience for Tina to try to become a better messenger. read more

I'll start off by saying that the dental hygienist and dentist were nice. I went in a few weeks ago for my initial visit. I was given a dental plan that included a deep cleaning and the need to have two cavities refilled and two new cavities filled. I thought this was odd because I didn't have a need for fillings with my last dentist, but it had been a few years since I was seen last so I guess I got cavities in that time. I was quoted $455 for the deep cleaning. When I was speaking to the financial person, I made sure to ask, "so I will only be paying the $455 for the deep cleaning for my next visit?" I was told yes. I went in for my deep cleaning expecting to pay that amount. A bit much if you ask me, but what can you do? It took less than an hour for my deep cleaning and when I went to pay, I was told it was going to be $982. This is nearly double what I was quoted, and when I said that the receptionist had to look at my account. Turns out, I was quoted for a deep cleaning for only half of my mouth. Why would they only quote me to clean half my mouth, I don't know. When I called back to confirm, I was told that on the paperwork, it clearly shows that the quote was for half my mouth. I reviewed the paperwork and to my own eyes, I'm not seeing where this 'half' comes from. I will not be returning because of this. I think that's shady business practice to quote one thing and then have the patient pay nearly double that amount. If you are going to create a dental plan, and the patient asks for confirmation, maybe actually explain that the price being quoted is only for half the mouth. Or better yet, I have a full mouth of teeth, tell me what I'm going to be paying for my whole mouth. Honestly, this is a bummer because the hygienist was really nice, but the financial person completely ruined my experience. I'd honestly leave zero stars if I could because of this experience. My coworker went to another ideal dental location in the metroplex and is paying less than what I paid, and we have the same insurance. read more

Do not come here if you want a staff that truly cares about your health. All the "managers" care about is money. This barely gets a 2 star because of 2 individuals that I encountered who were great. The rest, not so much. I normally don't go near these types of dental establishments, but unfortunately my work insurance is PPO and only covers a VERY limited amount of dentists in my area. I had 2 appointments. The first was a consult to evaluate all my needs. Everyone I encountered that day was amazing. I hate getting dental work done and the woman doing all my tests was very kind and reassuring. One of the front desk assistants was also very kind in explained the costs of all my procedures they wanted to perform. I really wish I could remember their names to give thanks to on here. I then came in a couple of days later planning on doing a tooth extraction. The dentist begged me not to pull, but to do a root canal and crown instead. (I have had a failed one before and had to pull anyway. $2k went down the drain...and that was why I would just rather it be pulled) but he convinced me otherwise. Then they sent someone from billing to go over cost before they would do the procedure. The price of course was shocking even with insurance. Was informed that I had to pay in full before they could do any work. I asked if I could pay it out (because who has $1500 just sitting in their bank account for a tooth these days!) I let her know that I had almost $600 on my HSA card to be a down payment to start the procedure. She came back with "either at least half of the payment today, and the other half in 2 weeks, or pay in full today" She showed absolutely no empathy for the situation and clearly just cares about collecting money. She tried to get me to call around to my existing credit card lenders to ask for credit increases! I then just decided to leave even though I'm in a considerable amount of pain. (They didn't even try to help with that either.) Please avoid this place if you can and spare yourself the trouble. read more

Scam. I went in for routine dental exam and cleaning. I have never had dental problems and take great care of my teeth. They took all kinds of pictures of my mouth(to get money from my insurance-is my guess). The dentist poked around in my mouth for less than a minute, the hygienist did the same. They came back with a "dental plan" with an out of pocket fee of $625. I told them no thank you I just want a cleaning. They refused to clean my teeth unless I agreed to the plan. At the end of the day y'all can do much better. After moving to Texas I needed to find a dentist for my routine cleanings. Prior to moving here, I have had routine cleanings at least every 6 months. This time I was 3 months overdue for a cleaning due to COVID. I came across ideal dental as it is near my house. Scheduling was easy and when I arrived the office they made sure to follow new cdc guidelines. What I was disappointed in was the cleaning and the dental exam. The dentist spent a couple minutes looking in my mouth and recommended I have 4 fillings but reassuring me that "4 fillings is not bad" ahhh what? NOT bad? Zero fillings is not bad but 4. Then she quickly said well you would be a great candidate for Invisalign, they put on this video and walked out of the room. After the video was over I waited for a while, then the office receptionist came into the room with all these charges printed out of "recommendations" that I had to sign. What I did notice was "free dental whitening" at the bottom of the charge sheet. I had asked the receptionist a question about the fillings and she said she would have to go get the dentist back. The dentist came back and said "I heard you have questions" in an irritated demeanor. I inquired again about the fillings and she said "I wouldn't recommend something I didn't think needed to be fixed" Next the hygienist comes back for my cleaning. This was the fastest cleaning I have ever had in my life. Probably took the hygienist at most 10 minutes while commenting on how my teeth "have barely any plaque" yet I have 4 fillings right? And where is this free dental whitening that I signed off on? Who knows! At this point something seemed very off about this place and I asked for my xrays. The following week I got a second opinion (which I have never done) from Another dentist based off the Xrays and I'm Glad I did! The supposed "fillings" are more or so areas that could be watched. I'm taking my business elsewhere. This place looks great on the outside but Has a one track mind of trying to make as much money as they can. I have insurance, not much would come out of my pocket, but at the end of the day I don't trust their motivation. Issue #1 - The ladies that work in the office are nice and the location is very clean. But, almost EVERY TIME I go into that office, whether it's for myself or for my son I wait at least 20 minutes after the appointment time to be seen. It's very irritating to make sure I arrive on time, but then to have to sit and wait that long to be seen. Issue #2 - I have a crown that has fallen off and the tooth underneath needs to be pulled. My original treatment plan included pulling this tooth first with no other services needing to be provided at that time. It generally doesn't hurt, so I decided to wait to have it pulled. Well, one day it was hurting, so I made an appointment and took off work to get it pulled. Once I got there (to their credit my wait wasn't long this time), they took x-rays and The dentist, Betances, told me I'd also need a bone graph, which would cost me an additional $200. I've had teeth pulled before and have never needed that service, nor was that service on the original treatment plan. And from the research I've done, this procedure is not required to have a tooth extracted. Betances would not extract my tooth, as one of the assistants said she 'wasn't comfortable' doing it without doing the bone graph, as well. Nice to know that her comfort is more important than my pain. Very nice to know... She prescribed something for the pain . I guess they'd rather me risk becoming addicted to those. I really don't feel that she should be a dentist. She seems to lack empathy and places her perceived 'comfort' above the very real discomfort of her patient. My insurance carrier even expressed disbelief that she refused to do the extraction unless the bone graph was done, also. I wonder if I can file a formal complaint? I did call to change the dentist I was assigned to and will not return there for myself if I can help it. Too bad I have to wait to change my dental plan through my job. I really hate that my current insurance plan only seems to cover these 'chain' types of dental offices (it's this or another brand butterfly that seems as money hungry). I miss going to what I think of as real dentists that care about the patient. All the ladies, including the dentists, in this location are also young. Not that it matters, but it's something I've noticed. At least the ones I've seen so far. read more

So, I'll be objective about my experience. I live in the Addison area and wanted to go somewhere close by, so I chose this place because they have Saturday appointments. I was able to get in the day I made my appointment, which thrilled me, and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice they were when I walked in. The dental hygienist was very nice and did a good job. I was confused when they didn't do they cleaning I was there for, but instead had the dentist come out to talk about my X-rays. He said I had numerous cavities (3), one that needed a crown, and my wisdom teeth removed. Not being a dentist and never having been to dental school, I trusted him. They brought out someone who seems to handle their billing and she showed me an estimate of what would be out of pocket--which I agreed to foot. A doctor tells me I need something--I trust them. They prep me for the fillings, and then I wait for 45 minutes before any of the work begins. Truly--45 minutes. After 3 hours at the dentist having work done, they finally finish up. "You're good to go! Here's your bill." So I'm confused at this point, and I'm like...I came here for a cleaning. Can we please do my cleaning as well?" They wouldn't do it then and said they would do it at my next appointment when I get my crown fitted. I was pretty shocked, but honestly, my mouth was so sore at that point that I wasn't sure I could handle it anyway. Fast forward to my next appointment. On the schedule: wisdom tooth extraction, crown fitting, and cleaning. Cleaning comes first, and it is the worst cleaning I've ever had. It lasted five minutes and involved the dentist using metals tools to scrape my gums and then packing my mouth with gauze to stop the bleeding. Then comes the money maker--they set my crown and finish my fillings. Granted, they did a great job on this one! Crown is perfect and fits nicely; fillings are smooth. Finally, my wisdom teeth. They partner with an oral surgeon who came in, prepped me (btw, the assistant to the oral surgeon, Dr. Roberts, made it clear he thought the dentist was an idiot--literally told me he didn't work for them so he couldn't account for the idiotic things they do--nice!). When the surgeon came in to start my IV, he tried 7--count them, 7!--times to start it on both arms. Blew out my veins in 3 places, leaving huge bruises, and then proceeded to chastise me when I started crying. As I walked out after paying, the billing specialist said, "You're a great patient. We'd love for you to leave us a review online." Sure thing, lady. $1100 and this kind of experience later, you can count on it. Today, my wife went and the exact same thing happened to her--they prescribed 4 fillings and a crown, and quoted $1300 for all of it (after insurance). This comes after she had a dental appt through the army which are mandatory and they said she had no cavities. Interesting. In conclusion? I wouldn't recommend. The oral surgeon they recommend is horrible and they make a pretty penny off of working with him. They are more concerned with money making procedures than dental care. Bedside manner is less than desirable. Billing is ridiculous. And quality of treatment, overall, is a joke. EDIT: I think it is very important to distinguish the operation from the dentist. Dr. Hattaway was kind, skilled, engaged--he remembered me personally, as well as my wife, and even called me on a Saturday to make sure I was feeling well after I had the work done. Great experience. Was a new patient, didn't wait in the waiting room for longer than 5 minutes. Dr. Holmes is very nice, always smiling and does a great job of explaining your situation. His assistants are great too! Love that they constantly ask how you're doing to help make the uncomfortable situation of getting fillings a bit better and show they care. I was very nervous to go to the dentist just based on bad past experiences in my childhood. The front desk staff (especially Stephanie) put my mind at ease and made me feel much more comfortable even just from the phone call when I made my appointment. Unfortunately, that feeling of ease did not continue once I was back in the chair. I felt that my dentist was very inexperienced. He kept stumbling over what my problems were and then when it came time to get 4 tiny fillings, he spent way way way too long doing the first filling, which after being re-numbed, he realized he was using the wrong size tool for my mouth. My husband had a similar but less painful experience a week later when he went. He did not have work done apart from his cleaning but he did feel that his dentist (who was different from who I saw) was also inexperienced. We will not be going back. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. I went in while pregnant for a cleaning. They kept pushing me to do X-rays and I told them I was not comfortable with this. I went in after having my son to get checked out. First thing they wanted to do was take X-rays. Of course I magically ended up with 5 cavities. I have only ever had one cavity before. They kept pushing me to get them filled. FIVE CAVITIES?! I was really uncomfortable considering they wouldn't show me X-rays or explain where they were. I ended up going to a great practice. Woodhill Dental Associates. They took X-rays and were completely blown away when I told them that ideal dental said I had 5 cavities. I had ZERO cavities AND my teeth were healthier than the average patient. If you want to continue fraud, go here, and have your mouth and teeth ruined. If not stay far, far, away. The absolute worst visit to a dentist I have ever experienced. A team that has no concern for your time. On my very first appointment they took more than 30 minutes to take xrays that take other dentists 5 minutes at most. Do not go here if you have other options. read more

Do I even have to give it one star? HORRENDOUS experience. Absolutely no communication going on here (except with the insurance company so they can collect the money....then they know how to communicate). Details here do not matter. You never see the same dentist. 3 hours to take a cap off and put a temporary on. Yes, 3 full hours. Why? Because they have one dentist running/juggling 6 (yes, 6) patients at the same time. Is this even safe? I highly doubt it. The dentist himself was absolutely wonderful....if he were in private practice I would use him. The poor kid is probably only working there to pay off his school loans so I hope he gets out of there real fast....he's too good for the likes of this place. I could say more but what is the sense? Nothing is going to change. The bottom line is money, and this is a prime example of greed overruling customer service. And this is why businesses have no business in medicine. read more
