I have been coming to ideal dental for two years. I have always received very good care. The staff does a wonderful job. My issue is with the corporate nature of a healthcare business where nobody who is there has any control over the actual patient experience. Instead, corporate overlords design and furnish with a primary goal toward cost savings. This is obvious by the chair. I have gone to half a century of dental visits all over the world and I have never experienced such a miserably uncomfortable dental chair. It is not adjustable for comfort, barely has an armrest, which is poorly positioned, and was clearly purchased by corporate overlords because it was cheapest, not in order to optimize the experience of the patient. I have mentioned it to the staff on multiple visits and they just apologize. Clearly the furnishings are just provided by the employer. And clearly the employer's main concern is making money, not making the patients comfortable. read more

Get a second opinion! I was shocked to learn from a second dentist that I did NOT need the thousands of dollars of work that ideal dental stated I did. Office staff seemed so nice, but scared me in to believing I had severe issues that required immediate attention. None of it was true. Just saying...get a second opinion. read more

They're going to try to scam you so beware! I went in for my first appointment and it took them and hour and a half just for x-rays. I had to leave and reschedule my regular cleaning but when I talked to them about my next appointment I found out they were going to try to charge me for things I hadn't even agreed to! Like hundred dollars worth! And I have a great insurance! Apparently my dad had been here too and they told him he needed a deep cleaning, and he ended up going to another place who told him he definitely did not need a deep cleaning. Fake diagnosis! It was the last straw when I told her I wasn't going to come in anymore because they were charging me an insane amount for a cleaning and she said that they could clean half of my mouth for half of the cost? Dr. Mellinger is a wonderful dentist. She addresses all my concerns and explains things throughly. She is patient and caring. That kind of caring is reflected in her staff as well. The entire office staff is profesional, informative, warm, kind and always greet me ​with a smile. I just wish I would have found them sooner! I'm on my way to better dental health because of them. My son had braces thru the orthodontist with Ideal Dental. The whole experience wasn't great, even though the orthodontist is nice. He was always having trouble with wires being too long. But the most frustrating is he got his braces off 2 days ago. They forgot to remove the back braces and the permanent retainer they put on top is already falling off... but the worst thing is no one will call me to make an appt to fix this. I've left 6 voice mails and heard nothing back. Calling all hours of the business day. Because the ortho is all over the city, i can't just show up and get it fixed. Who knows where they are in the city. This was supposed to be a great day for my son getting off his braces... now it's just more stress. Don't use the ortho here. read more

I went I. For a broken crown. They were very accommodating at the location on 281. They referred me to the bulverde location to a specialist. I went in, they said they could extract the broken tooth and would have to put an implant in. Day of extration: went to the front they told me it would be $900. Paid the amount up front. Was placed under anesthesia, then they brought my family member back and told her it would be more. She ended up paying to pay an extra $1,000 after I was sedated and knew i nothing about it. Mind you she is on a fixed income and felt bad because it was a front tooth and knew I needed it done. Didn't find out until I received the credit cards statement. I was not given any additional receipts that day of additional payment and had no idea what I had paid for. Called the office for over a week and they told me because it was a traveling specialist they did not have access. Kept giving me someone's cell number to call who never answered. Here I am feeling scammed. Finally called every office I could and that person finally called me back. I feel if you are having a procedure in a specific. Office they should have all of your records. Fast forward to post op. It was never explained to me from the get go that it would be 4.5 months after the extraction before I could get the post put in then another 3 months after that the crown could be put in. So that is a total of almost 8 months start to finish. At no time was an entire breakdown of costs presented to me. And of course they require payment up front. During post op I was measured for a flipper tooth. Another $300. They said it would take 2 weeks. Here we are at 2 weeks and now they have pushed it back another 2 weeks. It's ridiculous to be told a date and if something is delayed there is no follow up. I would like to see how they would react to no front tooth. I requested the contact Info for the lab that makes them and of course I was not provided the Information. Several of the dentists that I have spoken to have told me they could make it in office. I have never had such a bad experience with a dentist office. Not up front and not helpful. Watch out for extra charges. read more

The first appointment went well. Checkout took way longer than expected. I paid $500 down for my son's braces and signed up for the monthly payments. However, now, trying to call back to make follow-up appointment, was on hold for 8 minutes with no check-in, just tried calling back and got voice mail with Christmas music playing in the background. I just moved here from Phoenix and needed a new Dentist. I happened to pass this place a checked out the reviews and they were excellent, so I made an appointment. I went in for my 6 month cleaning but they found two tiny cavities. They did my cleaning and filled my teeth on the same visit. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They even have a cozy blanket for you if you get cold. This place is awesome! I'm so glad I found them. read more

Dr. Pan and his dental team are top of the line, best dental clinic I've ever visited. The receptionist was very flexible with working with my schedule and was very polite. Dr. Pan's plan was conservative and met my needs. Polite and respectful bedside manner and the pain was minimal. I have been coming to this office for over a year now and I must say that I have had nothing but great experiences. Dr. Amin is very thorough when doing the exam. He goes through all the X-rays and cool pictures of your teeth with you when explaining what your treatment needs are which makes it easier to understand. Great dentist office! I had a tooth emergency and they were able to see me almost immediately. I called at 8:30 am and they got me in at 9:40 am. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Great place to get your dental work done. I had an afternoon appointment and was surprised I didn't have to wait. They were ready for me when I arrived which I really appreciated. The technology is great. They show you all your X-rays on the tv in front of you. You can watch shows while in the chair between them working on you. The staff is funny and friendly! read more

Worst dental experience ever. Scheduled my cleaning and whitening after I heard the radio ad. My appointment lasted 2 hours and they had only done my xrays. I felt the dentist was just trying to find something he could charge me for and said i had 2 very small cavities on the sides and needed fillings. I couldnt wait any longer for cleaning so i rescheduled. 2nd appointment they assumed they were doing the filings when i hadn't even gotten my cleaning! I asked for just the cleaning and whitening while i got a second opinion on the cavities. Dentist refused to do whitening unless I did the filings first. Waste of my time. Ideal hires a really high caliber of dentists, assistants and reception staff. I have been to a few dentists and Ideal surpasses them all. Their staff is extremely well trained and knowledgeable. It is very apparent that they spend time finding the best of the best. I have seen 2 of the dentists in the office and both times had a cavity filled. They were gentle, concerned and very experienced. I was disappointed when I couldn't get in to see the same dentist for the second filling but I had an equally good experience with both. Ideal obviously takes a lot of pride in who they hire and what their experience is. Great place to take care of your teeth! read more

Went for my second cleaning today. Had a few little cavities to be filled and they were able to do them today! I'm generally very nervous about dentist's appointments but they make me feel calm and do everything with little discomfort at all!
