Two other dentists were pessimistic about their ability to fix it with bonding, without substantial removal of tooth structure. As I am blessed with overall healthy and pretty teeth, I resigned myself to just live with it. While it was barely noticeable to others, it was a substantial source of frustrating, near-constant physical discomfort for me. After moving to San Antonio, I wondered if this practice could help me out. Dr. Beckel saw me for what I assumed would be just a preliminary consultation, and he convinced me to let him fix it right then and there! I got the sense he could tell it had really been bugging me a while, and wanted to make it better. I felt his communication was good and his bedside manner really excellent. He gave the problem a lot of thought personalized to my specific case, and was optimistic--but realistic--about his ability to fix it with as microscopically minimal enamel removal as possible. After just a few minutes, I got handed a mirror and was stunned to see a tooth that looked genuinely as good as new. It was actually a bit shocking, in a good way. I am truly amazed by the appearance of this bonding. I feel that not only was the natural look of my teeth fully appreciated, but the complex manner in which light moves through the thin edges of my enamel, creating a range of shades, is continued seamlessly throughout the restoration. I was fully expecting to see some kind of subtle boundary or shading difference there, but it actually looks perfect. This must have taken a high level of skill and a profound understanding of dental aesthetics. Of course, the next test will be to see how it holds up long-term. Overall, I came in with what I understand to be a fairly challenging request. I was met with enthusiasm, consideration, and compassion.

Normally dental visits are very 6 months for me, have been since I was a kid. but they cut them into 3x visits every 4 months. Kicker they didnt tell me my insurance only covers 2 visits a year. (My old dentist would always lay out how many visits per year to avoid out of pocket, especially to new patients) So that 3rd one was a hefty out of pocket I wasn't aware of. I paid it, moved on. Being in my late 30s they made it a stressing deal for my wisdom teeth to come out on account of cavities they couldn't get too. Were they bothering me? Nope. Even going to the dentust back home all my life and they never mentioned them coming out. But they were pressing me on the issue here and the front desk personnel told me what I would owe for the surgery since my insurance wont cover all of it. I made sure I got a total bill after my surgery so I could pay and be done with it. I got the surgery done, they took all 4. And it was the most miserable experience and 8 months of excruciating pain I dont wish on anybody. Since lucky me, I had complications. I went back for my check up in july (wasnt covered, wasnt told) and paid my minimum like always. Fast forward to november i get a bill in the mail for over 500$ that I owe since my insurance denied a huge portion of my surgery. Confused I called the front desk and asked what this was. I told her I paid up front for the amount i was given after my surgery. And she told me "it's an insurance thing, I'm handling it" so december comes around i get another bill in the mail, same amount. And i went in for a cleaning and checkup. I asked in person if this was still being handled since I'm getting mailed statements now. And she said "yes, they're calling me today". So i figured they were handling it. In feb 2023 I got a call from the dental billing department that said they were sending my bill to collections to due to neglectful payments!!! I flipped out and told them what i have been told. So the collections lady said she would "look into it" and to call the dentist office and see what they're doing from their side with insurance. So of course I called back and the lady who said she was handling it I guess up and left? there's someone new in charge handling all her work she left behind. So I explained the situation and all I got was "I will look into it". Its now April, nothing has been solved, I keep getting pushback from the billing agency, the office will not return my calls or figire this out, and my insurance says they "dont have enough Information to look into this further." This is straight up obnoxious!! And the kicker was when I went back in feb for my cleaning the doc checked my mouth and said "I dont see any cavities back there". But you said there were and that's why I went though that traumatic painful surgery??? I'm so tired of the runaround and lies. Completely awful way to do business. I canceled my appointment and I will never be going back there. I do not have that cash just lying around and I should have been quoted the actual amount upon my surgery A YEAR AGO, so I could get a better idea an a payment plan set up. Incredibly upset. I have to continually take time out of my day to call the collections and billing to see if anything had changed. And they just keep saying "there are notes on here, and we are working with your insurance". So what am I supposed to do? If your insurance wont cover the procedure, make sure you check the whole thing before the person receives the surgery. Seeing a breakdown of only a portion and bolling them for more later on an "oopsy error" is very deceitful!

I cracked a molar last week while on a trip. Local Dental was recommended by my neighbor and I'm so glad I called. First, the phone was answered by a very polite and helpful real person. Second, they were able to get me in the next day. Went back one day later for placement of a temporary crown. Third, the place is clean, modern, technologically advanced and the staff are wonderful caring people. Doctor Lee showed me on a large screen what was going on with my tooth and how it would be treated. The procedure was painless and he took his time to make sure it was done right. I love this place!

I have been coming to ideal dental for two years. I have always received very good care. The staff…read moredoes a wonderful job. My issue is with the corporate nature of a healthcare business where nobody who is there has any control over the actual patient experience. Instead, corporate overlords design and furnish with a primary goal toward cost savings. This is obvious by the chair. I have gone to half a century of dental visits all over the world and I have never experienced such a miserably uncomfortable dental chair. It is not adjustable for comfort, barely has an armrest, which is poorly positioned, and was clearly purchased by corporate overlords because it was cheapest, not in order to optimize the experience of the patient. I have mentioned it to the staff on multiple visits and they just apologize. Clearly the furnishings are just provided by the employer. And clearly the employer's main concern is making money, not making the patients comfortable.

I started seeing him when he was located in that strip mall off O'Connor and Nacogdoches. He is probably the best dentist in San Antonio bar none. And I have been seeing Dr. Long since he started working there. This review is directed at (you guessed it) the office staff that handles the dental claims and communicates with it's patients...the ones responsible filing claims in a timely manner and communicating this process clearly to the patient. Definitely was not done in this case. In December of 2025 I had 2 tori removed. I was pretty sure insurance was not going to cover this. They (Riley) gave me a treatment plan that reflected my cost was around $1400 dollars. After the procedure when I went to pay I was told I owe $1701. I thought well they have overcharged me in the past but I always got a refund in a timely manner (after the insurance claim was filed). Also in all the many years i have been using them they have always filed to my dental insurance in a timely manner. And insurance immediately sends me a statement saying yes it's covered or no it's not and this is what you owe. Well that never happened in this case. The only thing that was filed initially was the sedation medication used. And it listed no surgical procedure. So insurance denied it saying basically what was the procedure? And I couldn't get an answer on why the office did that. They did file another procedure which was not the tori removal and my insurance paid it ($219) but it had nothing to do with the tori removal. And it was not performed on me. Bottom line: they never filed the tori removal to my dental insurance. Yes, most likely it would have been denied. But, now I could have appealed it. I would have to have shown it was medically necessary. Confusing the matter was that I called in late January 2026 asking about the filing of the claim and was told that I might be due a refund. I'm thinking why would I be due a refund? Now I'm totally confused. So I finally decided to just talk to one person (Riley) so I dont get conflicting info every time I call. She said she is working (communicating with corporate office) on my claim. That totally confused me again. Told her I just want my tori removal to be filed to insurance. She gave me a cryptic answer that she either does not get involved or has no control over the dental insurance part. But after several phone calls she said she would call when she knows something. Nope. That didn't happen. Fast forward about 4 months. I got a text from the office saying I owed another $337. When I called Riley I said I thought you were going to call me when this was resolved. She answered something to the effect she had a lot of people to call.

My wife, had GEHA High dental insurance and made an initial appointment. This service is listed as April 2, 2025 with a balance of 103.00 owed. Once again the problem is this.. It was covered in full by GEHA. I have called, disputed, and there doesn't really seem to be an interest in resolving this.. I guess the next step would be to call government agencies that handle this sort of mess.. Why? Because issues concerning something of this nature should be handled professionally and quickly. The VA, and GEHA have paid and I don't owe anything.. I'm posting this in hopes no one else falls into this mess.
