We had quite a few areas of yard that were overgrown with weeds - they needed to be cleaned up and replaced with weed barrier and mulch. Then we had a large area in the backyard that needed pavers where we will be installing a cedar shed. You can see from the Before and After pictures what a transformation it has been! We did Installations for them and they still us over $26k in past due invoices for installs we completed months ago. They owe another subcontractor over $200k. Their license is suspended and has been for months. They legally cannot contract work but still do so unlawfully. The owner Matt Watkins does not live in CA and doesn't have a grip on what he's doing. Good luck with trying to get them fix any warranty work as this falls under the subcontractor. They don't answer calls or emails if you have an issue or anything post install related. We've began a formal complain with the Contractors License Board and have began legal proceedings against Bay Area Turf. Due your due diligence and do not hire this company. You have been warned!

Unlike some others, he was never pushy and that made me feel more comfortable about working together going forward. He estimated that the entire project (leveling the backyard, building a short wall, French drain, and adding gravel) would take 2 weeks and they finished ahead of schedule. I am so happy to finally have a usable, outdoor space! If I ever want to do more with the hill, I will use KB Landscape for sure.

The crew installed all the plants, decomposed granite, and irrigation perfectly. Our architect also commented that she really liked the crew and that Juan in particular was very knowledgeable. Not to mention Juan is just a really nice guy and was open to the small changes we had to make as we were doing installation. In total it took three weeks to complete the entire project. His crew was great and Juan also works with them, he doesn't just only project manage. He was here all day nearly every day with the crew. It's a small company but they do great work, pay attention to detail like grading, and clean up after themselves every day. They did such a good job, after he finished we asked him to help redo a fence later as well and also continue to come biweekly to maintain the yard.

Most areas are great but main area turf was damaged within days of install. I have been patiently waiting for over 6 months and still no resolution. They believe my daughters sit me up chair caused the damage (see pics- impossible) or "maybe" the windows. Even if it did, what kind of turf can't have a child's seat placed on it OR how do such experienced installers not flag that window reflection can be an issue (note: brand new high end windows with low glare installed in 2019)? Now they want to charge me to repair or replace the turf that I originally paid for and have yet to receive. As a paying customer, especially having paid a material premium to go with SWG, I should be treated as such. I should have the turf and quality I purchased and whatever Micki / Jose need to do in the background with their respective corporate office should be behind the scenes. They keep pointing fingers back and forth and I'm stuck in the middle. I will update this post should they engage professionally and deliver what we paid for. I will also reaching out to 7 on your side and the Better Business Bureau should we not have resolution immediately.

We wanted a low cost but good installation for our dogs who would be constantly on it. They came out the next day to provide a quote. They were the only team to give a quote on the spot and correctly measure our yard. They also were the only team that wouldn't charge us extra for our weird shape/unused turf. There was an option for gopher wire, we declined but nice to know it was an option. All quotes were in the range of $12-$18 per sq ft. I signed the quote easily through their tracking system and communicated with Jason via yelp messenger. One week later, they came out and did the install from 8am-2pm and as promised, they cleaned everything and even fixed some wire plant fencing the dogs messed up. They had asked me about water lines but I wasn't sure and they ended up accidentally punching a nail into one. They very quickly patched it up and continued on. That is totally my bad for not knowing, they informed me immediately, and they were very professional about the mishap. Payment was easy through their payment portal and a text came with the link to pay just as the team finished their work. We are so happy with the finished product and couldn't be happier with the quality of the team. The efficiency was unreal. We thought this would be a much longer project but 1 week later, here we are! Bonus: some things we learned about turf - turf comes in 15ft wide rolls which determines if you'll have seams - most installers are using the same turf and they all cost the same price - larger installer companies will charge you more because they outsource to smaller and medium sized companies like Turf World so you might as well go right to the source. - whoever you get to install can recommend the best type of turf for your use case (ours was need for lasting turf for dogs) - there are layers to turf, not just the grass on top so the cost includes gravel, sand, siding, staples, weed tarp, hauling away dirt, etc. you can't just roll out turf you buy yourself and have the same result. - the reason for the layers is partly because of drainage, you don't want soggy turf! If you look at the underside of the turf, you can see the drainage holes and depending on what you want, you may want a turf with more drainage holes.

We just completed a drainage/landscape/hardscape project with Prestige Landscaping. Our house sits on a 45 degree slope, but has a flat lawn in the back that had significant drainage issues (the soil was clay and compacted over years, all the water coming down from irrigation and rain was accumulating on the lawn, which was constantly soggy). We had an drainage plan implemented for the house when it was built, but it was clearly not functioning properly. We hired an engineering company to propose a solution, which probably would have worked, but was very extensive and expensive. To compound the issue the access to back yard was only by foot, which had resulted in high cost of labor in proposals by many contractors. Prestige Landscaping work with their own architect with engineering background who was able to suggest a reasonable addition to the drainage system and re-work of the soil that would solve our problem. In addition, to bring down labor costs, they suggested to build re-inforced cardboard down-shoots to transport gravel and dirt for drainage and soil work. We hired them to do the job. We are so happy we did. In addition to many ingenious ideas and insights, from building a reinforced cardboard shoot (see above), to lifting a flagstone path over tree roots to allow both the foot traffic and the tree to continue to co-exist, to suggesting a self-hardening re-set mix for flagstones, to even etching a tennis ball out of a roof gutter that was preventing it from working properly. In addition we were so impressed with the crew's work ethic and the quality of their work that expanded the project well beyond its original scope. The summary of work performed Lawn: -new drainage pipes to tie in with existing drainage and city drains -Rework/add soil -Level yard -New drought-tolerant sports field variety sod - Reworked, cleaned and added to existing landscaping -New sprinkler line through center of lawn, new water saving sprinkler heads for the lawn -Change faulty and leaky existing drip system for the slopes and front to a new drip system Paths: -Clean, fix and re-stain wooden steps -Clean and re-set existing flagstone, add new flagstone paths. -Build an approach and base for a tool and lawn mower garden shed in the back yard -this turned out much prettier than I expected. If had little kids, would have considered putting a swing set there! Very happy and would recommend Prestige Landscaping to anyone who needs a drainage, landscape, or a hardscape project in the backyard. read more

Hired Prestige Landscape for a general clean up after 2 other quotes the price seamed very reasonable plus they also do full landscape construction so I gave it a try clean up went great he did a lot of extra pruning at no additional cost. The scope was extensive: a large, engineered two-tier retraining wall, large French drain all around my backward, new patio, backyard fence, fire pit with guilt in gas line, front year leveling, front yard fence (curved), new sprinkle system, all new planting including several trees and integrated lighting. The work was intense, requiring months of jack hammering and meticulous concrete work. During the time, Gerardo was a true professional. He sought feedback and guidance when useful, but also of course took care of everything as issues came up including handling countless very detailed and tedious permit reviews.
