They have a great variety of Hispanic items and regular items. They have a hot food place. Sometimes they barbecue out front. The meat, fish ,chicken and pork section is great. But they don't have Adobe chili powder of all things, I needed for a copy cat Chipotle adobo chicken burrito bowl recipe. I come here about once or twice a year, it's a great place to get those ingredients you need to make that great Hispanic dish. Definitely try it out. read more

Ideal Market pt. 2 I'm keeping this short because I usually just head straight to the back for the meat section. If you know even the slightest bit of Spanish, you have to try this spot. It makes Walmart's meat pale in comparison. 11/10. The rest of the place is a tidy, organized supermarket. Checkout is quick and easy even if you only know about 50 words of Spanish tops. read more

I was excited to find this market in Gretna. I lived in Miami for many years and learned to cook Cuban food. The store is colorful with expensive produce. I don't mind paying more than other local stores when it is good food. I was very uncomfortable by the experience however. The cashiers were so unkind. I don't need people to reciprocate kindness... but I expect a hello or an acknowledgment of my hello. We don't have to be friends. I expect to be treated cordially. Other staff that I passed looked at me like they hated my presence. I have never experienced this type of treatment before. I should have left my purchase and just left. I regret spending a penny there. I don't recommend this store. read more

The only only reason why we go here is because other places are closed otherwise we don't go here because the cashiers " the girls" are such rude people unless you are a guy that they think they might get money out of they'll treat you like crap, as if one is getting the stuff for free. They forget they get paid thanks to us. And it never fails they're rude all the time they should have them all go to a training to be nice to customers and realize they get paid thanks to us. read more

I love the food at IdealMarket on Terry Parkway. The pork shank in the gravy with their yellow rice is unbelievable.Its my favorite. Their cakes and pastries are delicious. I had been wanting to check this place out for a while, but I never really knew what it was. Then when I asked on facebook where I could get plantain chips, I was tipped off to this place. As soon as I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. It's a Latin American grocery store! Not only do they carry the things that a normal market would carry, but they also carry a bunch of Latin American treats! I saw all kind of things from different candies and snacks to soft drinks. They had coconut water and juice and, of course, that really good Coca Cola with the real sugar in it! I picked up a bag of plaintain chips and it only cost $2. In the back, they have a section where you can get hot food to go, so I will definitely have to try that. They also have a huge butcher section with a HUGE meat selection, including whole pigs! Now, I don't really have a current need for a whole pig, but they are there if you need them. The store is just packed with stuff and I will definitely be going back and picking up some goodies that aren't as easy to come by at a Winn Dixie or Rouse's. read more

Review for the hot food. Ideal Market is most ideal when I am hungry and need a quick meal to go. They offer an extensive variety of cooked items. The cooked items seem to vary on a day to day basis. I've enjoyed a variety of items. Most hot plates have costed me 9.99$ but can last me 3-4 meals. A huge language barrier exist between the employees and myself. Even so, it has not been a problem pointing out what I want on my plate. However, I have noticed rude facial expressions when I pick out certain items. For example, they do not like it when I do not want rice but would rather the large compartment filled with beans. read more

Great food, me and coworkers go there to eat lunch but the customer service from the cashiers and cafeteria are really bad.

Oh My. If there was a Wanka factory for produce, this would have to be it. It's beautiful. It's well priced and it's clean as a whistle in this store. We stopped by this Sunday, and since I was still hungry from a failed breakfast at Huddle House, this was even more impressive and drool-worthy than I'd hoped. The meat prices are better than Rouses but not as good as La Morenita 5 but comparable and to be honest, they have a better selection. They also have a wonderful food bar that is also clean as you could ask for. They also have a bakery and their selection is also better than La Morenita for those. I'm really glad we decided to stop in here and I'm really looking forward to going back. One thing. You may want to skip the carts. In order to put so much stuff into such a little space, they had to skimp on isle spacing. It's really hard to get two carts through any isle. Some isles are too small to get 2 people through. read more

Went in for just Guacamole wound up getting that plus 3 meals ( breakfast and lunch for today & breakfast for tomorrow plus a mango juice) had to get out before I did damage to my credit card. My only problem is finding someone to understand me maybe that's a good thing if I could speak Spanish or the people there could speak or have someone there that could translate. I stopped to eat at this market and it was really clean and organized. The floors seemed shiny and they had a good bit of everything there. The food was ok, the rice with beans was dry and they serve you mostly rice on every plate you buy and only leave a small portion of the plate to serve you the meat you choose. I did had a hard time finding prices on a lot of items as well. Good store, I was just a little disappointed with the food, they really have a great opportunity to "knock it out of the park" but stay short. Buen mercadito, muy limpio y hacen lo que pueden con el espacio que tienen. Los pasillos de la tienda son muy angostos. La tienda tiene de todo y muy bien acomodado, daba la impresin de todo estar bien organizado. Sali un poco desepcionado de la comida porque el arroz con frijoles estaba muy seco. Queria pedir la carne guisada con coco pero al ver como lo servian preferi cambiar de carne y me pedi pollo asado. La manera en que sirven el plato es muy curiosa porque llenan el plato al mas no poder de arroz, luego te dan la opcion de ensalada o frijoles y al final solo dejan un pequeño lugarcito para la carne. Creo que tienen una gran oportunidad de ser una gran tienda de comida si no fueran tan raquiticos en las cantidades de carne. Cada plato lo veden por cerca de $10 asi que no veo como dejarian de ganar si tan solo dan una racion un poco mas generosa. Visited this market today! I was impressed by the selection in such a small location. Some of the produce prices were nice and low, other items were just as expensive/equal as your standard Grocery store (bananas $0.69/lb, apples $1+/lb). Very clean inside. The cooked foods in the back were mouth-watering! They looked amazing! Their bakery section had your standard Latin/Hispanic dulce pan, very good! Vast selection of meats in the butcher area. I was a little upset I couldn't find locally made floor tortillas in bulk (though I didn't ask about it, I'll have to inquire the next time we visit). It was your standard Guerrero brand. I might have to make my own. In CA, at El Super, I could always find the freshest tortillas made in house at $0.99/10 pack instead of buying the "name brand" items. I also wasn't impressed on their bulk beans prices. I did find red beans in a container to scoop what I wanted, but the bagged Pinto beans were marked kind of high with the largest bag being only 5lb. I was excited to find nopales in the produce section. I didn't get the food bargain shopping experience I was looking for (aka, El Super produce prices). We'll possibly return again. read more

I agree with other posters that this store is clean, well-organized and offers an excellent selection of packaged as well as prepared foods. BUT...Watch the cashiers!!! Especially with unmarked goods such as produce. A specific example is, today, I attempted to purchase some nicely priced fruits and vegetables. That is, I thought the price was good until I got to the register. The first item, Green Leaf Lettuce, was priced on the shelf as $1.19. The cashier rang it up as Romaine at $1.29. The second item was a set of three small avocados, which the shelf AND the circular showed as being 3/$1.00 were rung up as $0.99 EACH! I did not wait to find out what surprise prices would be randomly assigned to the next items. I left. Now, if it was the first time that it had happened, I would have tried to correct the mistakes but on the last four visits there, I was overcharged on at least one item each time, always produce. So, if you have the energy to play the price game or simply do not care how much you spend, go for it! There are so many yummy things to find in the store. Me, I refuse to pay more than the posted price. I give up. There are plenty of other markets of this type. read more
