Cheeseburger combo
Kathleen L.

My boyfriend and I were visiting NOLA for Mardi Gras and his birthday. Our Airbnb was nearby Rainbow Grocery and when we landed, we just wanted something quick to eat. I saw that Rainbow Grocery had hot food, so we went over here. I wanted a po-boy, but they ran out of hoagie rolls, so we opted to get a cheeseburger with fries. My boyfriend and I were actually amazed that the cheeseburger and fries were good! From a liquor store?! Since our first night ordering from Rainbow Grocery, we probably went there every night, just for drinks and snacks. Workers were nice!

Great hidden away spot. Great selection of booze too. The deli is light on choices, but it makes up for it in taste.

Turkey And The Wolf - Collard Green sandwich! Packed full of flavor, toasted perfectly.

The bologna sandwich and the collard green melt are two of the most creative, satisfying things you can eat anywhere in this country. They sound simple on paper and then they absolutely blow you away. The kind of food that makes you genuinely angry that you don't live closer. We love it here so much we bought the cookbook. That is the level of devotion this place inspires. If you have not been, stop what you are doing and go. If you have been, you already know. There is nothing else to say except that Mason Hereford is a genius and Turkey and the Wolf is a treasure.

Ordered: - Collard Green Melt - I was unsure about this one at first but honestly the flavors work really well together. - Fried Bologna - this one was also very yummy. I think if i reordered I would probably do not mustard (but that's just a personal preference since I don't like mustard). This sandwich had a lot of height to it, my TMJ was not happy but it was good. - Crinkle Cut Fries Both of the sandwiches were good but they're quite rich. I wouldn't be able to finish one by myself I got a little flavor fatigue by the end. Having a hard time picking between the two sandwich which one I prefer more so I would just get both and split it with others. Wait Time: Arrived around 1PM on a rainy Saturday, line was out the door. It was about a 30 minute wait until we ordered and got seated. Restaurant had slight nostalgia vibes to me, it almost felt like the sandwiches were something someone made after school with leftover ingredients and it works.

Fabulous! Service is beyond great. Everyone looks like they truly enjoy working here…read more Food 1000000/10

Street parking or walking. I've been to new orleans a bunch lately ive visited been here twice…read more There are always conventions or festivals going on so it can be busy and hard to find a seat. You find your own table inside or outside. Sides are separate order and price unless you order the special of the day amd it'll say what it comes with. 1st time ordered le pig. It was good, a little salty. But its not as tender as a beef burger. It was a nice change up. The pickles were good. We ordered some to go. ( take with you or they can ship to your house). The burger itself was filling to me. Rest of my party bbq pork and fish platter. Hush puppies were okay, they give so much. I could honestly do without it. Everyone was satisfied. 2nd visit ordered the porchetta . That was really good. Ordered a mac and cheese. It has breadcrumbs on top it comes in a small dish that i feel like is shareable. It wasn't bad actually ( ive had worse lol). One of the workers did really suggest it. I was willing to try it. It was edible, no cheese pull but also not just buttered noodles. Depending on my mood I might get it again. Porchetta and the leadership pig, I think the porchetta was better but both are great and filling.

I struggled with putting a 5-star review on a pretty basic menu (no offense), but dang it,…read moreeverything we've eaten in our last 3 visits (in 2 months) has been 5-star fresh, tasty and plentiful. Give credit where credit is due. And the servers have really stepped it up. Very nice! Have not had to deal with huge crowds on any of our three visits, just a steady stream of in and out guests and to go orders. Drinks are always brought promptly, and only once has one gone dry. (They are $3.79 ea, so drink up!) One visit involved Pesto Bites and a Savory Cannoli w/a pasta salad side. The Pesto Bites were to die for, and don't believe the picture on the website - the cannoli was huge and looked more like a very big calzone, but it was packed with ingredients and flavor. The pasta salad was seasoned with just the right amount of Italian dressing. Another visit involved Mozzarella Sticks, Pesto Bites, wings and a Combo pizza. It also involved a large to go box. :) The wings were very good - not bready or slimy, which I often encounter when wings aren't the sole business of the establishment. Loved the crust on the pizza. The 3rd visit involved 3 people and Pizza Bites, Seafood Bites, Savory Cannoli w/pasta salad, Spaghetti & Meatballs w/2 extra meatballs and a 14" Hawaiian Pizza. There were some to go boxes and to go drinks with this meal too. I was pleasantly surprised with the Hawaiian pizza, not something I would ordinarily try, the Pizza Bites were amazing, and I don't eat shrimp but am told the Seafood Bites were very good. I wish I had taken pictures, but each time we were sitting down starving; that's never good for the photo business. :) Try it, you'll like it.

So, I was looking at my previous review to see what I wrote compared to now. I can definitely say…read morethat they have improved well with their pasta dishes now as they were seasoned nicely. All of the portions remained plentiful which we ordered a few things and shared amongst 6 people. Hummus was great and refreshing as hummus should be. The boudin egg rolls were also great as it was made with cheese inside as well. As for me, the pizzas were ok. It didn't really stand out or wowed me, but they were good nonetheless. The best part of the food was that they all came out very hot and fresh. I think this is what we always ask for when we go to restaurants. Aside from the food, the service remains great as our waitress did wonderful on checking up on us and refilling drinks as needed. Seating remains the same as I remembered it from last time with a New Orleans vibe in the benches. Overall experience was great and would definitely return to this restaurant if i'm craving Italian!
