Minny fresh from getting groomed. Looking pretty as ever.

This was my dog first time going there, usually she's scared but she seemed at ease. They were very friendly and professional and went over everything with you that they would be doing. Joie was her groomer and did a superb job. I will be going back.

My husband and I brought our Yorkie to IDEAL PET GROOMING for a haircut and a flea bath Saturday 9/28, like we would typically do and have done in the past. Apparently some time during the bathing process chemicals from what the owner told us was a medicated shampoo got into his eyes. Instead of stopping services and notifying us right away they proceeded to rinse, blow dry and cut his hair anyway. Upon picking him up the owner told my husband what had occurred, and after looking at him he noticed he couldn't open his eyes. The owner stated it's normal, as it can sometimes happen during the process. She told us they had rinsed his eyes out for 20/30 minutes, and to allow 24hrs for the chemical residue to subside from his eyes. Afterwards he should be able to open them again and everything should be back to normal. She told us if not, we could bring him back for his eyes to be rinsed again. As upset as we were my husband paid and we left. Within an hr after leaving his eyes started to leak badly. My husband called. The owner again assured that in 24hrs his eyes would get better. Within 3hrs his eyes begin to crust. At this point we're livid. Called the owner again notifying them of what's happening. The other owner states this is apart of the process as he has been a groomer for a long time. He and my husband got into a heated discussion in which he turned the phone over to his wife, and she nonchalantly states we told you before you left to wait it out, but you've called back twice already. She told us that If we wanted to take him to the vet we could and we would be held liable. They were only going to do again what they had already done. As it is stated in their disclaimer they are not responsible for any vet bills that would be acquired. Nor myself or my husband has signed any disclaimers at anytime prior to a service since first taking our dog to this place. Here it is well over 24hrs after his services and his eyes are crusted shut. The negligence of this whole situation could have easily been prevented during the initial process on yesterday had they communicated upon the initial chemical contact. Now I'm taking him to the vet as we should have after leaving. We entrusted this place to do a service, but instead of showing compassion she the owner so intrusively stated we are more than welcome to find another groomer to take our dog to in the future. Talk about integrity! "Touché" better believe this was his last time, because the botched haircut that came along with his chemically treated eyes is DIABOLICAL! Per the Veterinarian, due to the poor judgment decision made on behalf of IDEAL PET GROOMING, had we acted any later he was at risk of going blind. Check your pets folks! As of today 10/2 we have tried to make several attempts to reach out and have yet to get a response

Had taken my dog here before in past but was a little hesitant because of some recent bad reviews but was very pleased again. They did an excellent job grooming my dog and was done in less than 2 hours.

Our regular groomer is still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, we have been looking for someone to trim our 2.5 year old soft coated wheaten terrier for almost six months. After much research we decided to try Ideal. The groomer arrived in the oversized van right on time. He petted and played with Leia in the front yard for a few minutes. She seemed very comfortable with him, she jumped right in the van with him. Three hours later we had a clean, nicely groomed pet again.

They did a wonderful job on my baby, 23. She looks sickening just beautiful and her bows are too freaking cute.

Omg!!! What an awesome experience! I chose this grooming location based on the reviews and I'm glad that I did! I took my sister's fur baby in for a trim and the owner did such a great job. I was able to walk right in (although appts are prioritized, which is totally understandable). Nonetheless, the timing was perfect or something because he was all set in a little over an hour. When I picked Winston up he was having a blast with all his new little friends. My sister LOVED his adorable haircut and he smelled like a dream. I also found out she hadn't groomed him lately because some other place had cut up his poor lil belly and she was scared to trust anyone. Well Winston was as perfect when I picked him up as when I dropped him off! Needless to say, they have a new loyal customer. Thank you so much! Kris, Kam, and Winston

Horrible customer service!! They didn't do what was written on the check in form. They have EVERYTHING on video (supposedly) to verify my story but won't share the form or video in order to "prove" my story. My complaint and story isn't exaggerated. My dog was hurt during this abusive grooming appointment. I have pictures but can't attach them. My dog was sooooooo happy to see his family but started shaking when he got in the car. This is a 9 year old dog that has been to many grooming appointments and vets. VERY WELL cared for and LOVED. The owner and "manager" just said "if you are unhappy, don't come back". I'M UNHAPPY and WON'T be back. We were a return customer.

    Razor scrapes from grooming treatment

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My dog has long hair and likes to adventure in tall grass so he gets matting in his fur. I took my dog in for a bath and deshedding which I do regularly at other places. When I picked him up, he was completely shaved. I was shocked since this is not at all what I asked for. After looking at the dog further I noticed razor cuts in his skin! See picture. When I called back and spoke with the manager he says that he did what I asked for and if I wasn't such an abusive dog parent he wouldn't have needed to shave him. Will absolutely never do business with these people again. I paid $155 for this service and they won't even refund me. Don't let your dog get tortured here.

My morkie posing happily and groomed to perfection thanks to Ideal Pet Grooming. Wish this was a scratch and sniff pic- smells great!

There was young staff at the front who were clearly newer. They told me about 4 hours. I called around 3:30 just to make sure they were on schedule to be picked up and I had to tell them my dogs name 3x in order for them to "know who he was". They told me 4:30. I get there at 4:30 to my dog being "mixed up" with another dog and told me they haven't even gotten to my dog yet there was another dog ahead of me and it would be 90 minutes. They had already bathed my dog so I picked him up and paid $40 for a bath after they tried to charge me $62 for a freaking bath because they thought he was a poodle. He's a Bischon mix NOT a standard poodle. To top it off I drop my dog off at daycare near my job in galleria and was initially interested in possibly bringing my dog back for daycare since it's close to home if the haircut went good. The daycare area is a joke. It's a room with dogs barking like crazy just wanting to get out of the gated area, and no staff interaction at all. They had puppy pads down and poop on the floor. I'll continue to go out of my way to Camp Run a Mutt in Houston. I will never be returning here.

Customer service is a big thing to me so the fact they were so nice helped a lot in making me feel more comfortable about leaving my fur babies. They also gave me a card before I left and said I could call and check on them if I wanted too. They called me when they were ready and I went to pick them up immediately so they could come home. They were very excited to see me when I came to pick them up. As a matter of fact my smaller dog slipped her collar and came running to me. Rebekah told me they were so good and sweet. They even gave them little red bandannas. I will definitely be back again. Can't beat the service. They are a little bit pricey compared to the petco I used to take them too but to get treated well and have peace of mind to us my babies are ok is worth it to me.

I debated writing this because I actually liked the groomer and my puppy's haircut came out nice…read more But the overall experience was extremely stressful and poorly handled. I brought my puppy in for a routine groom with JAZMIN and was told he had a mat on his arm. I completely understand that mats happen--that wasn't the issue. The issue was how it was communicated and handled. Before I left, she checked his entire body in front of me and confirmed that was the only mat. Despite that, she began telling me that his entire body might need to be shaved down and that he could possibly be showing skin. As a dog owner, that's very alarming--especially when it doesn't match what was actually found. When I tried to ask questions and figure out a reasonable solution, instead of guiding me, her response multiple times was: "Do you want to just take him?" She repeated this several times--even after I had scheduled my day around this appointment and was clearly trying to move forward. Even when I came back to adjust the plan (just bathe him, hygiene cut, etc.), I was met again with: "Do you want to take him?" There was no reassurance, no clear plan, and no offer to simply proceed and call me if anything else was found--which would have resolved everything. Instead, I spent hours going back and forth, stressed and unsure if I was going to pick my dog up shaved down to the skin over one small mat. The final result? Exactly what I initially expected--only that small area was trimmed and the rest of his coat was perfectly fine. That confirms this situation was unnecessarily escalated from the start. I don't have an issue with the grooming result. But the communication, tone, and overall handling of the situation were disappointing and avoidable. When I spoke with a manager, I was told the groomer may have been "having a bad day." Respectfully, that shouldn't affect how customers are treated--especially when it involves their pets. Because of this experience, I won't be returning. I just can't go through that level of stress again over something so minor.

While we were not in the market for a cat when coming in to check out this place, we fell in LOVE with one of the kittens up for adoption. We had to file the paperwork through the Humane Society, so we couldn't leave with her that day but nonetheless, we got our little fur baby here. As for the store itself, I personally feel the prices are higher than elsewhere. The main thing I've gotten here was cat litter (which typically runs a few bucks higher than other stores.) I have only made these purchases when I've received 20-25% off coupons in the mail which brought the price down below competitors. There is a clearance rack near the cat adoptions. Here I've found cat treats for up to 75% off (depending on the expiration, sooner they expire, the less $ they'll be). Staff are usually pretty helpful and always friendly. Some of the guys offer to carry the 25-40lbs cat litter containers out to my vehicle for me which is super sweet of them. Lastly, while researching for this post, I wanted to look up the exact cost of the cat litter from their website... only their website is not very good. A simple search for cat litter came up with "no results found." Then I looked through the cats-supplies-litter and waste management tabs and again, "no results found." Very odd. So I don't have any actual price data to include. Their website needs a lot of work.

The receptionist who answered sounded anything but friendly when he scheduled me and took down my information. Told me I needed shot records, but didn't give any other information. I was already not impressed but I decided to give them a shot anyway. (Maybe he wasn't having a great day?) Come the day of the appointment, I get to the place and the receptionist there didn't even look up at me when I walked in. She seemed pretty lack-luster. Then she asked me what I wanted done for my dog. I explained that I've never brought a dog to the groomers before because my other dogs have all had short hair. She called the groomer in and they both kept asking me "what do you want?" I don't know how I could have said "I don't know" in any other ways. I just asked for what they would recommend as my dog had matted fur and needed a clean up. It was frustrating to say the least. When you have someone who doesn't know what to ask for, it doesn't make must sense to ask her what she wants, does it? My dog is a rescue and very nervous around new people, and even though I told the staff this, they were very aggressive in trying to get her to come to them. It was so hard to get her to come, that I had to leave the leash there with them so they could lead her back with it after I left. When I picked my dog up, they let her out of the back area into the small glass lobby area with no leash or collar. Just let her run out by herself. Almost as soon as they let her out, someone else came in and my leash-less dog ran out of the door and into the parking lot. She could have been hit by a car or ran away. Any number of things! Luckily she circled back to me and I was able to grab her. Why would you just let a dog out with no leash? If I had not been in a reasonable mood, I probably would have made a bigger deal of it. I doubt I will be back because this last thing was just the clincher after an already underwhelming experience.

His haircut looked an absolute mess as they left parts of him longer than others AND left choppy spots. Not only was the haircut a mess but they decided that he magically had hair knots in his ears so they decided to PLUCK it out which has resulted in my puppy developing an ear infection. When a groomer finds an issue with a pet they should be advised to talk to the owner about any "solutions" prior to them performing anything. This was not done....We also did not find out about this UNTIL after we visited the vet and called the groomers and that is when they informed us about the ear plucking. His ears were so irritated that his ear canal started bleeding and developing puss. You could only imagine how uncomfortable this is for a PUPPY. I do not recommend this place at all.

My mom brought our dog in, and while she may not have thought the experience was "bad enough" to speak up at the time, when she came home and told me about it, I couldn't just let it go. We've taken our dog to other grooming places before and have never had issues like this. The woman at the front desk--an older/middle-aged Black woman--wasn't the nicest. She seemed a bit unsure of what she was doing, which happens, but what bothered us more was her overall attitude. If you're dealing with customers and their pets, basic friendliness goes a long way--and that just wasn't there. What stood out even more was the woman who I believe is the owner. While I was waiting for my dog, I watched her talk endlessly to a customer--just rambling on about who knows what. It wasn't a warm or engaging conversation; it felt more like the customer was stuck listening, and you could tell they were trying to politely escape. But beyond the talking, what really rubbed me the wrong way was how she treated her staff. There was a vibe--like she wasn't the kindest or most genuine with them. It's not something you want to feel in a place where people are trusting you with their pets. And here's what really pushed me to write this review: my dog's tail was left looking choppy and uneven. It was the most noticeable part of his grooming, and it just wasn't done well at all. That's not something I expect from a professional grooming service. To top it off, a friend of mine went in a few days later and had her own odd experience. That same front desk associate offered her dog food that was about to expire. She took it but found it even more strange that the lady confidently told her it was about to expire and that was why she was giving it to her to try--and honestly, so did I. That's not the kind of customer experience that inspires confidence. Overall, between the poor grooming, the awkward energy, and the unprofessional vibe, we won't be coming back.
