There are never enough cashiers at this Pet Smart. There's a line of customers about 15 deep and there's little movement in the line to check out. Today I tried to buy some cat food, but the line was so long, and it was taking so much time just to buy a bag of cat food that I left it near the cash register and walked out. There are some positive aspects to this Pet Smart. Six months ago, I had a really bad experience with a groomer who was extremely rude and disrespectful, but the manager was professional and corrected the error by providing a refund for the grooming. That particular groomer is no longer at this location. I think the management is friendly and helpful, but they definitely need more cashiers. read more

This is the last time I will bring my dog here for grooming. I just picked him up and his haircut is choppy and uneven all over his face and body. I spent $90 on an absolutely terrible haircut. What a waste of money. Trained professionals should be able to do better, even if a dog is uncomfortable or slightly moving. Every time I take my pets to this location they cannot follow directions no matter how much we tell them exactly what we want. Today I asked that my dog have his stomach and eyes trimmed around but nothing else cut. They charged me $70 to total screw up his face. Cats are expensive. At least mine are. I typically order online as it's cheaper but I do occasionally stop in case I urgently need something (like a third food for my cat to try as she currently in protest). It's usually well stocked, but consistently, the sales labels are outdated, the prices are inaccurate from shelf to check out, or the line is LONG; they typically have reinforcements to help when they notice they have a lot of customers. Overall helpful if I'm in a bind, but I'll stick to online to save money. read more

I only gave 4/5 stars because the groomer we went to insisted that they cut all of our dog's nails (which we paid for), but it was clear that he did not and had missed quite a few. I go here often. I use that Banfield and shop there quite a bit. Today, I had booked a free Santa and your pet photo. Excited. Bought the little dog a Christmas scarf and off we went. It was in the training area by the registers. Zero signs stating where to go or stand. One other person in front of me with her dog. We were standing at the door to the photo shoot. The picture taker lady tells us to move so we don't block the aisle and to "move the line that way to get out of the aisle so people can pass through." So the lady and I go around to the other entry door. The door that happened to be in front of the cat adoptions. They are in a glass enclosed room. My little dog was looking at the kitties and I'd say "see the pretty babies". He was also wandering and sniffing around all over while on leash. There was absolutely no distress on the cats and I did not see a sign stating not to be there. Santa comes over with her crotchety self and says," y'all have to move. This area is not for dogs." She motions from one side to another and says this is not for dogs. The cats are here. Well, where were we supposed to go? The whole store is full of aisles. Moving puts us back in the original aisle we were told to move from. The lady in front of me was skeptical about this whole Santa experience as was I. The kicker was Santa and the picture lady then talking about us. I said I don't need this and left. THANK YOU picture lady and Santa with your bitter moods ruining what was supposed to be a fun experience. You can keep your free picture. I had an EXTREMELY unsatisfactory experience with Carmen, the groomer at this PetSmart location. She displayed unfriendly behavior, avoided eye contact, and had a low tone voice, making it clear she didn't want to help. Without even analyzing my dogs fur she made it clear she couldn't save any of it and she had to shave it all off. I requested to preserve my golden doodle's facial, head and neck hair because the hair was not severely matted as the rest of his body was. I was okay with his body, legs and tail being shaved due to the circumstances. In the end she shaved the facial/head and neck area completely bald without explanation. To make matters worse, a $40 dematting fee was added, contradicting the earlier assertion that the hair was beyond saving. On top of that his hair was patchy and uneven. How was he bald and uneven? Great question. Moving along, my dog was at this location, CONFINED from 1:30 pm to 6 pm, he wasn't taken outside to relieve himself and ended up deficating on himself. When picked up, he was visibly shaken and ready to get out of there (abnormal behavior from him) . I strongly advise against booking with CARMEN or anyone else at this location. read more

Every question my 79 year old father had, he answered why he couldn't or what they didn't have without even checking!!! Then when I told him what I wanted instead of getting the container to get it (not our first purchase) he went to help some dude with hissing roaches . He never finished! I have lived in the area for six years now and this is my home-away-from-home and the place that has taken quite a bit of money from our household. Our two doggies have used the grooming service for full service (bath, brush, nails) and a la carte services like a simple nail grind. Rachel is our go-to groomer and she is always courteous and I feel super comfortable with her and keeping our babies safe. The staff at Banfield is also courteous and professional in helping me get questions answered, etc. The store is normally clean and the checkout staff is normally fairly courteous. Speaking of ringing up, always check the online price for items in the store because they will do an online pricematch from petsmart.com . My only small critique is that the Rx food (wet and dry) is sometimes not available/stocked and I have to make a second trip to the store to get food for one of my dogs. read more

I have been taking my dog for years to the Pearland Petsmart Grooming Services. Every time I go they want a copy of his vaccines and rabies shots. If I don't have them, they want me to drive all the way home and drive all the way back to show proof of his vaccinations. When I called online support to ask them to create a way where I can upload a copy of his vaccinations, the lady kept saying, "that she can call the vet and find out if he is vaccinated." I kept asking her, "What if the vet isn't opened on Sunday?" She didn't have an answer. All I wanted her to tell me is if she could speak to technology and ask them to create an upload file to show proof of my dog's vaccinations so I am not running around like a crazy person - driving back and forth for an hour or more just to show proof my dog has been vaccinated. All she kept telling was to take a picture on my cell phone, that way I won't have this problem again. Last time, I dropped my dog off they did the same thing and I had to prove he had his rabies and vaccines last time as well. Why? Because the person behind the desk didn't update my dogs information and now the burden was placed on me again. With as large as a corporation as Petsmart is and all the money they put into purchasing signs for customers to stand 6 ft. apart, install all that plexiglass in between each dog groomer's area and all the masks, cleaners, gloves, etc. just because they feel like they are keeping everybody safe - I am sure Petsmart can come up with money to ask the technology department to allow customers to upload proof of vaccinations. I mean after all - they have a history on all the times I have taken my dogs in for grooming - I am sure uploading one file will not overload their system. read more

They just added a surcharge for Whoodles (Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers x Poodle). According to the cash register receipt, the charge is at the discretion of the groomer for dogs with exceptionally long coats requiring extra grooming. My dog's coat was 2 inches long but I was charged extra. When I questioned the groomer "H," she smirked and said "it was on the contract you signed." I protested that she should have informed me of the extra charge but her reply still was "it's your fault for not reading all the fine print on the page-long contract." I told her that her failure to inform me of the change was borderline misleading and she shrugged and said, "tell it to headquarters, they are the ones who created the surcharge." My problem isn't with the surcharge as I understand that some dogs are in need of extra grooming. My dog was not and the surcharge was a pure money-grab by the groomer. PLEASE READ ALL PET OWNERS My father brought his beloved dog to get his normal nail trim. Only to pick him up and our dog can barely breathe. He was brought to the vet the next day and we were told he had damage to his ribs and back. Now our dog is DEAD. A healthy 3 year old ridge back is now dead. The groomer went by the name Jess and the manager JAMES was no help and even called the police on my father. I have yet to see the footage from the grooming area ( they claim they have cameras) but have not yet shown me the footage. I am Not the only person this has happened to, do your research and you'll see other pets have died with in hours or days of visiting a PetSmart for grooming and died due to similar circumstances. I wish I could give no stars for the experience I just had. Whenever I'm in Houston I come to this location to get my dog groomed because it's closest to my parents home. I usually have a decent experience when I come here. Unfortunately today was not the case. I would advise everyone to not book with KATLYN J. She charged me $8 extra for "special handling" because my dog was difficult apparently. My pup is very intelligent and energetic, but I've never had this happen before. Apparently my dog kept trying to hump her? Which doesn't make sense because from my understanding there are restraints used on the dogs to cut their coat. Doesn't make any sense to me. I placed an online order for store pick up. I was told it would take 1-3 hours which is a pretty big window and I don't live all that near so I try to plan my trip out coupled with other errands. Decided to chance it and head out and burned off two hours and still no notification that my order was ready so I went home. The moment you walk in you are usually greeted by an employee and they ask you if you need help. I usually just say hello and ask questions when I really need help, otherwise everything is pretty much easy to find or get to. In the past couple of years they have reorganized a little and added more speciality food brands but that's a good thing. When you walk in the dog section is on your left and the cat section is to your right. The right side also has reptiles, birds, hamsters, fish, etc. I don't know much about the right side because I do not own any of those particular animals so I cannot really critique on the right side. The dog section: They have an abundance of treats, toys, collars/leashes/harnesses, and dry dog food and wet dog foods, grooming supplies, and storage. The dry dog food selection is majority of your well known dry food products. Great customer service! I called the 1.800-Pet Smart number and the customer service representative on my phone had to speak to the manager in order to remind him of the stores own return policy! After the manager was reminded - the return took all of 1 minute. Never, ever, again! I have been boycotting Pet Smart, and still have not received a response from the Pet Smart customer service as I requested regarding this incident. I go to Petsmart because it is close and convenient. I know not to expect amazing 5-star service everytime I go. However, I am pleasantly surprised when they do! I find myself at the groomers once per month. They usually make me wait all day, since I never make an appointment, but that's fine because frankly, I could use one day without the dog (I find she distracts me when I am trying to get things done around the house...she is high maintenance). I'll start with saying I've been taking my two goldendoodles to this PetSmart for a few years to get groomed and have only ever had minor problems, like a little skin burn rash or hair not being cut right in some areas. This past time - just shy of two weeks ago - was different though. Although my male dog had a fine groom with no issues and a very nice groomer (Jessica M.), my poor female dog did not have the same experience. She tends to mat very easily and they called asking if they could shave her ears down more than usual. I agreed since they advised it was safest. When my husband picked her up, he noticed that both of the bottom of her ears had little cuts. To top it off, her face wasn't groomed well and it didn't appear they really washed her face. This may have been out of caution on their part because we had expressed to them the importance of not getting water down in her ears since she tends to have issues with that. But the way her face looked compared to the rest of her body, with knowing how she looks when freshly groomed, was unacceptable. Additionally, my husband said her groomer, Jazmin O., was unfriendly and rude. Of course they still ended up getting and leaving water down in her ears because they became infected. We cleaned them everyday and they started to look better, but after a while, the scabs on her ears started to crack and we noticed some blood in different places. Shaking her head from the ear infection would not allow the cuts to heal. So we ended up taking her to the vet yesterday and they confirmed her ears still had a deep infection from water that needed to be treated and because of that they wanted to bandage her entire head so that she couldn't further harm the cuts from shaking her head. She's pretty miserable right now with the head bandage. And of course, the vet tech - who also has a goldendoodle - confirmed she had the same issue with PetSmart Pearland not too long ago where her dog's ears were sliced. This is unacceptable. We will not be taking our dogs back to this place for grooming. Before taking your dogs grooming here, do your due diligence and ensure you are comfortable with who will be handling your fur babies! read more
