If you're looking for a top of the line AC contractor, look no further. When our old AC unit finally died, we called Ideal Energy to come look at it and see if there was a fix. They sent out their tech quickly and texted and emailed us with a two hour window when to expect their tech to arrive. The text contained a picture of the technician, so we knew who to look for. When the tech was on his way, we got a second text letting us know he was arriving shortly. So nice!! The tech was knowledgeable and tried to repair the issue, but sadly, our VERY OLD unit was beyond help. Ideal helped us pick a new unit, discussing all the pros and cons of staying with a 5-ton unit instead of other options, which might be more energy-efficient. They even added a smart thermostat so our new AC unit would run as efficiently as possible. The new AC unit is whisper quiet and super efficient! Recently our 30 year old AC stopped working and I called Ideal Energy to come out an assess it. The sent a technician named Chris, who was very knowledgeable and trustworthy, diagnosed that the compressor was indeed dead. They quickly gave me a few different options and I chose to go with their recommended options, which was a much more energy efficient new unit. A few days later Chris came back with the new unit and installed it. I couldn't be happier with the results. The new unit works so well! It cools our house within minutes and doesn't make a sound! Ideal Air technicians (Joe, Camari, and their teams) did an amazing job with installing a mini split in my master bedroom and also blowing in more insulation into the attic. They were very thorough in their work. Before even beginning to do anything, they covered my floors with paper, covered the corner of the walls, and put plastic over any furniture that was around their work area. My attic was prepped before insulation was blown in by protecting around the can lights, insulating around electrical, etc. After all the insulation was blown in, they installed wood on the 3 sides of the attic hatch to keep the insulation in the attic and also insulated the attic door. As for the mini split, they communicated well and made sure I was onboard with the placement of both indoor and outdoor units before cutting through the wall. Everyone did an amazing job, communicated well, and took pride in their work. Everyone was so professional throughout the whole process, and I am so happy I went with Ideal Air. read more

Update to last review - After the energy audit was conducted, some serious issues were identified. It was determined that for all intents and purposes, I might as well have had a 14" hole in my wall, just pumping cool air to the street. I was provided with a full report and a very reasonable quote to bring all of my insulation and ducting up to standards. I was also given a reasonable quote for upgrading my pool pump to a more efficient model. Long story short, when the work was all done, I compared the previous month's bill to the current month. The savings was, well...take a look. August billing cycle: $467 September billing cycle: $297 And I haven't even had the pump replaced...yet! Also to note, they helped me get all of the available rebates that I qualified for with SRP. I'll be calling Ideal Energy when I'm ready to upgrade the pool pump soon! read more

So just to be honest we haven't technically gotten any services besides a free quote done by Ideal Energy but after having NUMEROUS air conditioning repair guys out I just had to review to say how thorough and professional Tanner was. Some of the guys today didn't even look in our attic, let alone measure our windows. Tanner, however, provided pictures and gave me more information than any other company. I wish I had the ladies name who called us from Ideal bc she was also thorough and professional but she mostly spoke with my husband. Having dealt with a home warranty who doesn't want to replace our unit, the multiple techs that they've sent out who also didn't want to do the work, and then the guys who have been out all day today giving us quotes, I can quite honestly say it was an absolute pleasure getting a quote from Ideal Energy. It seems like more than a few guys know we live in AZ and pretty much have no other choice (especially when your ac poops out and you're in a 89-94 degree house). Ideal Air Conditioning just amazed us. We had a new system put in several years ago but Ideal Energy and they did a great job installing the system at that time. But fast forward to Tuesday this week and our AC went out!! It is miserable in Phoenix right now and we were furious, stressed and miserable. We called Ideal Air and Adam came out Wednesday to fix the system he did some repairs they system was up and running! However, but the time we got home the system had gone down again. We called Ideal Air again and they said they were going to have to replace the compressor but that would take a few weeks due to ordering and shipping. We obviously can't wait 2 weeks for a compressor so we set up a call with the owner of Ideal Air Alex and we went over all the issues we were experiences and some were our fault (as the customer) not being timely replacing the filters but there was an error on the companies side as well with setting up maintenance. So we did have quite a few issues to work through, but we did and Alex wanted to make us happy, and he succeeded! He had Adam come out Thursday morning to replace the whole AC unit we have a brand new Tran AC unit and they (Adam and a few other technicians) installed in less then 4 hours. We honestly could not be happier with this outcome. Alex really made everything right for us. We will not be using another company again, we will be customer's for life due to the companies hard work and dedication to us customers. The receptionist stated they were a week out but when she sensed the desperation in my voice she took my number and said she would call me back. My house was built in 81. On the suggestion of my electric company I decided to get my ductwork inspected. Alex came out and suggested a decent overhaul of the old system. New registers, new flex duct work, removal of swamp cooler ducts and sealed throughout. While the job wasn't cheap, I am amazed by the results. Mike Weaver and his crew came out and had a very professional, yet relaxed demeanor. He brought a crew of 6 young men who were very knowledgeable and allowed me to ask questions throughout. My AC units efficiency has improved dramatically. The amount of air I was losing has left me regretting not getting this done sooner. The sheer amount of new air being processed is unreal. Moreover, the noisy unit has become very calm and quiet. I cannot wait to see how much this also improves the quality of air in my home, as they removed old insulation and blew in 1400 more sq ft. Couldn't be happier with our service from Ideal Energy. Less than 24 hours ago, I'd never heard of this company. Due to an issue with the sensor linked to one of our thermostats, I gave Ideal Energy a call yesterday, in the late afternoon. They were able to add us to the schedule for first thing this morning. Today, around 7:30 am, I received an email and text message to let us know that Chris, the technician, was on his way. These alerts included Chris' photo and key information about him, e.g., his professional background and experience, number of years with the company, ROC number, etc. I've never seen this done before, but it set the stage for a great service call and ensured that it was a familiar face standing on our doorstep a few minutes later. Chris was professional, friendly, and competent. He assessed the situation with condensation build-up near the sensor and also helped us with a separate issue we were having with another thermostat (linked to a different A/C unit) in the house. (For the latter issue, we knew that the thermostat would need to be replaced entirely, based on a lengthy phone call with the manufacturer a month earlier.) Chris gave us straightforward information about our thermostat replacement options, with details about pricing and the pros and cons of different models. He also offered to do touch up paint, if we happened to have any spare paint on hand, in the event that the model we chose took up less wall space than our previous one. He left to buy the thermostat that seemed like the best fit for our price point and home needs, as it was not one that he had on hand. Less than two hours later, we had a sensor replaced for one thermostat and a new thermostat installed in another part of our house. The total price seemed reasonable and in line with (loose) estimates that I'd received when calling a few other A/C repair companies the day before. The $95 diagnostic charge for the appointment was applied toward the parts and labor of the work that Chris performed. We received an electronic copy of our invoice a minute or two after Chris left, to keep on file, and everything about the service call, from start to finish, was outstanding. We couldn't have asked for a more competent and professional technician or a more positive experience overall. I'm happy that I reached out to Ideal Energy yesterday and trusted all of their 5-star reviews on Yelp. We couldn't have had a better experience. read more

Great service. Called them last night after my AC unit started to blow hot air and they were able to come by 6 am the next morning. The Tech, called on his way to my house to let me know he'd be there in about 20 minutes. He went through my system and was able to determine what the problem was..... a fuse blew out and also noticed that they had an improper fuse, luckily my compressor didn't go. He replaced both fuses made sure the system was running properly. He didn't try to bang me out for some unnecessary repairs. Sad thing is i had another company here the day before and asked them to look at that unit besides the one that also went out and they didn't catch the problem. We knew we needed more insulation when we bought the house. So we got the energy audit from one of the SRP approved contractors. And they also submitted a bid to do the work. Then we sought bids from two other companies. If you need to go down this route too, then do what we didn't do: check the licenses of the SRP approved contractors with AZROC. Because, of the three companies we dealt with, Ideal was the only company that had an HVAC license. If you're going to have major HVAC work done, wouldn't you want to be dealing with people that make the effort ot get licensed for it? Ideal was the only company that sealed the ducts the old-fashioned way -- with mastic and tape. The other two companies wanted to blow in some chemical product. You can read all about it online. You might like it. But it is more expensive. So what about Ideal? Everything went well from dealing with Brian, the salesman/estimator, to the work done by the crew. They handled all of the SRP rebates so I didn't have to wait for them -- they do! They added an extra air-return required by our heat pump. The other two companies didn't notice that. And they were half as expensive as the other companies that bid. The money we saved is being invested in xeric plants to shade the house and the yard. The money saved will also pay for sealing leaks around windows and doors. read more

I don't think anyone looks forward to having to replace their AC unit in the middle of the Phoenix summer. I talked to 5 other companies before Ryan came over to take a look at my house and needs. Needless to say, the job that he did surpassed everyone else. Ryan was extremely professional and genuine. He was also very thorough looking at my house as a system (including windows, insulation of walls and attic, etc), modeling my house, measuring static pressure of the system, and showing me how he worked out the load calculation to assess the best replacement for my central unit. Having a background in engineering, I really appreciated the process. The other advisers/consultants that came to my house went off my current unit for size, the sqft of my house and height of ceilings, or a ballpark from their past experience. It was clear that it's important for Ryan and Ideal Air Conditioning and Insulation to take the time to get the best option for their customers. Other companies also only showed me 1 or 2 options. Ryan showed me 3 to start and then showed me others he had left out based on my needs and price point. He explained the difference in systems, and by the end, I was left pretty confident in the choice I had made. I never felt rushed to make a decision or felt like I was in that typical/awkward/pressured sales situation. Thank you for your help, Ryan! We chose to have Ideal Energy bid on a project that included having an SRP approved Energy Audit completed, adding insulation and the possibility of installing a new HVAC system for our home based on the stellar reviews of previous customers here on Yelp. All I can say is WOW!!! First of all, this company knows how to communicate with it's customers and every single person I encountered via phone or person was always professional, courteous and attentive with any questions/concerns. Alex (Co-Owner) was always on time for appointments, very thorough when completing the energy audit and NEVER made myself or my wife feel pressured to buy ANYTHING. He explained how and what could be done but more importantly, what needed to be done to make our home more energy efficient. Elena (Co-Owner) was extremely helpful with setting up the SRP Rebate process which was streamlined and extremely easy, helping set up the funding PROMO for the project w/ local bank (0% APR 60mo - No early payoff penalty), and was able to get us scheduled 22 days ahead of our initial scheduled construction date. Chris (Construction Manager) and his crew ALWAYS showed up on time, displayed professionalism at all times and did a thorough clean up at the end of each construction day that went above and beyond what I've come to expect from most companies. Attitudes were great, they take pride in there work with keen attention to detail and NO CUTTING CORNERS ensuring a job done right. Construction was completed a day ahead of schedule because every single employee on the construction site busted his/her tail to get the job done right the first time. After construction was completed, Chris gave a relaxed (not rushed) tutorial of how to use the new thermostat (which is the "brains" of the system). Chris also advised my wife and I that it isn't uncommon to have small adjustments made to a new system install as each customer or project has different demands that aren't realized until after the new system is up and running. After a few days of testing out our new HVAC system it was determined that a few minor tweeks needed to be made to the on board computer system which controls air flow, fan speed, how much etc. It's a smart system that has set parameters that only technicians can access. Chris and another technician came back the next day, on time and quickly was able to change certain parameters and verify. PERFECT! We used to have a few "hot rooms" and a "cold master bedroom" upstairs with no control as our old thermostat was located in the hall. Our master bedroom would be consistently 2º cooler than the temp at the thermostat and our "hot rooms" easily 8º warmer than the temp at the thermostat. What a waste of energy... NOT ANY MORE! Now we can control the temperature in individual rooms so nobody is too hot or too cold. It truly has been a wonderful experience having Ideal Energy as our contractor. read more

My experience with Ideal Energy was exceptional. I would highly recommend any home/condo owner to contact IdealEnergy for a $99 home energy audit and then to follow through with IdealEnergy to conduct repairs. Here my story: My home was initially evaluated by a 'certified' contractor for the APS/SRP home energy program and rebates. The resulting data/report/estimate that was presented to me was confusing, and the proposal for repairs and service was limited in detail and difficult to understand...even though I consider myself an intelligent consumer, especially as it relates to energy conservation and being 'green-aware.' As I did not have 100% confidence in my initial contractor - I contacted Foundation for Senior Living (the group that oversees the SRP & APS rebate program) and asked for three other 'certified' contractors. I asked each contractor to review the existing data collected, inspect my home, and submit a bid for repair. Based on the three new bids and again interviewing each contractor, I learned there are big differences between contractors' knowledge of A/C, air handling, insulation and what it takes to repair and maximize efficiency under a roof. IdealEnergy provided the most thorough assessment of A/C and air-handling efficiency and then identified and explained in simple terms the best way to maximize efficiency and minimize A/C cooling loss. Their proposal included pictures of MY home (not another person's home/attic) and explained how each repair would contribute toward efficiency- energy wise. Further - Alex - was easy to reach when I called to ask any question...I ask a lot of questions - I called Alex at least 3 times after getting the IdealEnergy proposal and each time he was patient and answered questions thoroughly. I even price-checked Alex's estimate with another contractor friend - IdealEnergy's pricing was in range. I asked Alex for a discount as I had a referral in my back pocket....Alex did not waiver - he stated that he gives his best price the first time and that his margin is slim, mostly because he pays his crew a good wage on account of the difficult work they perform. Seriously after 3 minutes in any attic during summer months in Phoenix (crew members spent 2 hours at a time in the attic)- they deserve a just wage. After all this research and knowing that my home desperately needed efficiency attic/duct work, I chose IdealEnergy. FYI, my home is 1990s build - part of a larger community of 1,2,3 bedroom units. Back then, the builder installed the SAME split unit (handler/coil) into each unit...of course the builder skimped on the A/C and air handler quality ...the duct work was pretty shoddy too...needless to say - nearly every unit in my development could benefit from IdealEnergy's assessment. In my case, the most important lesson, was understanding the air handler needs to 'breathe' and, as is often the case in older buildings, the A/C air return is too small or impeded (by small grill), or both. Thus, there is the need to open more return vent space for A/C air return is needed (plus they have the test numbers to prove it). If , for example, you neglect increasing the A/C air return - you will find that despite resealing all duct work to keep out 'attic air' it will cause the air handler work harder and will ultimately create additional/more leaks in the duct system - and you're back to an inefficient unit in no time. Prior to having the work completed - I met each of the crew members who worked on my home...they were attentive to my concerns as they prepared to come into my home. They clearly stated the work they would perform and why....everything matched up with the proposal. The work took 2-full days (6 am - 2 pm) and was a bit messy, but the crew did their best to partition off the area where they worked and cleaned up before they left each day. It has been 2 weeks since about 1/2 of attic insulation was removed, duct & A/C handling repairs were performed, another energy audit showed the duct work is delivering cool air (and not attic air) and new cellulose blown in over the top of duct repairs and ceiling. During the past week (115, 113, 112 and expected 110+), the weather has really tested the improvements of my A/C system. The temperature in my home is balanced - there are areas that remain cooler than others - but there is not the extreme change in temperature as was the case before IdealEnergy did their work. Overall - I am very satisfied with IdealEnergy and would highly recommend Alex and his crew to address energy efficiency within your home or business. Final FYI - I am a social worker - I do not make a lot of $$ - and I rely on others' recommendation for goods and services...and I will be a personal reference for anyone who needs more information about Ideal - simply ask Alex for my contact info. Here's the short version: My experience with Ideal Energy was absolutely beyond my expectations. They were professional, on time, and I couldn't be happier with my home's new AC and Furnace. If you're shopping for HVAC services, don't hesitate to call these guys. If you want the details: We purchased an older home. Built in the 1980's and it had its quirks; its had things break. We've had multiple contractors to our house to fix and install various things around the home. Windows repaired, blinds installed, drywall repaired, patio installations. We had a few AC quotes prior to working with Ideal Energy. We needed new duct-work. Our house had add-ons that just weren't getting air properly. We voiced our concerns to other HVAC companies, but all they wanted to so was replace our AC unit. This would have left our 35-year-old furnace and 35-year-old duct-work in place to run a brand-new AC unit. In my mind that was like putting a new engine in a 35-year-old car, and not bothering to replace the worn-out tires. We said we wanted all of it fixed, but with other contractors it fell on deaf ears. "I can do the AC but we don't to ducts." I've had contractors come in with wild ideas to save money, including going and purchasing the AC unit myself, so I can save money with credit card points. I've got quotes written down on blank sheets of paper with no real explanation or break down for what I was buying. I've had contractors, in fact nearly all of them, fail to follow up when they said they would. My experience with Alex and Ideal Energy left the competition in the dark. Alex showed up not only in the window he had promised, he gave my updates as to when exactly he would arrive. He showed up with a power point presentation outlying MY HOUSE. My floor plan was in his power-point. He explained the problems with my current duct working. He explained several solutions we could implement with various price points. He calculates the exact tonnage required for my home, based on computer simulations. Not a generalized rule of thumb like every other HVAC company that showed up had offered. We settled on a state-of-the-art Zoned AC system. I can individually monitor and change the temperatures in various parts of my home. I can opt to cool infrequently used rooms less and keep the Master chilly at night without cooling my living room as much. While only using the single AC unit. It's absolutely incredible. (Ask them about it, its super cool... No pun intended) I didn't even know something like this existed. Alex's crew showed up on time with a convoy of trucks to remove my old system and install the new one. The task was a huge undertaking. His crew spent the better part of 3 solid days in the attic ensuring everything was good to go. I'm chilly in rooms of my house that have never been cold before. An AC is a big investment. Let Ideal Energy take care of you. This has been the most streamlined, turnkey process I've had done to my house. Which is amazing. Considering its by far the biggest project I've had done. They recommended removing 1/2 the insulation in the attic with no clear explanation why that was recommended (at a cost of over $2K). 2014- We had the energy audit done with a different company and when they quote their price for the repairs we started shopping around. We had more than a half dozen companies come review the audit and our house and decided to go with ideal energy. They did a fantastic job with everything up front. Alex and Chris were always professional and timely and we were promised that everything would be perfect when they were done. After the ac replacement and hvac repairs were completed was when the difficulty started. They were slow to respond to balancing the air flow around the house and replacing our gable vent (that they bent when they removed it) It was all eventually fixed but it took a lot of follow up calls etc to get it right. I'll be shopping around when we buy our next house. 2016 UPDATE- Since our last review we have bought and moved into a new (to us) home that was older and in need of a lot of "help". Alex and his team came in before closing and gave us a great idea as to what we were looking at and how we could phase the work, as it was a big project. We had a few others come in for estimates and decided to stay with IE because they seemed like the most knowledgeable at the the best price. We got started on the first phase and everything went very smoothly. His team is courteous and professional. When we r ready for the next phase they will be our first call. 2017- now we needed a new unit, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was right, for the actual u it to the instal and service. I held off on my review because I wanted to see the how well it worked in the hottest part of the year, and the results are in, it's fantastic. We have an older home (1940s) in central Phoenix and in looking at some solar systems, one of the companies discussed sealing our ducts and removing and replacing the insulation (with blown fiberglass). I wasn't convinced by them, but got Ideal Energy to come out and do an analysis. Wes came in November crawled all through our attics, and put together a very detailed proposal to replace the ductwork and insulation. The quote was not cheap, but reasonable considering the extent of the work involved. The things that sold me on the proposal were: the existing ductwork was put in when there was an evap cooler and were now too large for a modern AC system and no amount of sealing and external insulation was going to make them perform correctly. They used blown in cellulosic insulation which is what I preferred for environmental and health preferences. They sealed and insulated the vertical knee walls as well. We scheduled the insulation for the last week of December and Mike and the crew (6 guys in total) were fantastic. Prepping and cleaning the house every day they came out, fantastic communication, flexible when we needed to change something last minute, and polite. When I saw how much work went into the project, the cost became even more reasonable. The first thing I noticed was how quiet the house became, and that we could hardly tell when the heater came on (due to silence and infrequency). Now that we have made it out to 110+ days of real summer, every room in the house is now at a perfect temperature. Our main bedroom used to get hot at night in the summer, now it maintains a perfect temperature and our electric bill is at least 20% lower. Having a home that is now evenly comfortable and the energy savings is what we hoped for. Also a couple follow up questions I had (where to order the filters, and finding a source for the insulation boards for my workshop) were handled quickly and professionally. Ideal Energy has excellent customer service. I had my air ducts and insulation replaced and that went great. Everyone I worked with was great. The overall cost was pretty pricey but did fall in line with the other estimates I'd received. The only issue I had was after the air ducts and insulation had been replaced, by whole house smelled like gingerbread. They came out to check it out and said everything was fine. I'm not sure where the smell was coming from but I do know it wasn't there before the ducts had been replaced. It's since disappeared though so that's good. Every so often, when the air kicks on, I'll hear crinkling noises coming from the vents but I think that just the new duct work moving. I don't know how well I'll do on my electric bills as it's not peak time yet but time will tell if this was a good investment. read more

When we bought our house last year we knew that the Air conditioner was old, and that we could barely feel any air coming out of the vents. I called Ideal energy to do an energy audit after I read some reviews and visited their website. Alex arrived at our home on time and walked me through the energy audit process, after the audit was complete they gave me a full report including pictures of the ducts in my attic. They offered several different options to repair and improve the duct work and the AC system. The quoted prices were very competitive so we decided to fix our leaky ducts and add insulation to the attic. Three days after our audit they had a team replacing the old duct work, adding a couple new vents, adding insulation and most importantly installing it the correct way. They provided me with pictures of their work, and they ran another test on the house to see how much it improved. The test numbers showed huge improvement but the real test was that the house had an even temperature and the AC unit didn't run as often. They did an amazing job. Almost forgot, two days after the Audit my AC unit stopped working, Alex showed up less than an hour after I called and he was up on the roof replacing one of the motors. Had to mention that because it was great technical and customer service! So now a year and a half later my old AC unit finally completely broke down and I knew it was time to replace it and not fix it. I knew I wanted to go with Ideal energy but I also like getting a good deal so I got a couple quotes and Ideal energy not only offered the best price but they offered a better AC unit (Trane). I called Thursday afternoon and Alex showed up that evening to get measurements, by Friday afternoon I had a new AC unit completely installed, up and running. They're customer service was top notch. Everyone I spoke to was super responsive, friendly, and accommodating. The gentlemen that came over for my quote on the new AC was incredibly thorough, showed us pictures of problem areas in the attic, and walked us through all our questions. They had my new ac installed two days after the quote and got the job done quickly and cleanly. The four stars is because we recently noticed the ac runoff was placed directly above our electrical panel, which may be a problem in the future. read more
