Very bad experience! My breaker was tripping when I turned on my air - they had good reviews. Tech came out but was very high pressure sales - said I had to buy this $500 thermostat and more work for $700 - he only seemed interested in selling. I wanted another estimate so I got the thermostat but not the other work done. Unit was working when he left, stopped working later - blank screen - had another company come out who said the thermostat was installed incorrectly and cause damage to my unit of $1000s of dollars. I reach out to Mountainside and explained what I was told he said he would not do anything not even come see what the issue was - very rude and unprofessional! read more

Our 20+ yr old A/C unit finally bit the dust. We contacted Mountainside and they came out within 24 hours to temporarily fix our old unit so we wouldn't be sweating it out, and came out within a week to install a new unit. Installation included the entire HVAC system- heat pump, A/C unit, vents, air handler, thermostat... Mountainside had impressive communication. They were professional and courteous. Their text messages on the day of the install included the names and photos of each technician, contact info, and a map tracker to indicate their ETA. Every tech on site was very professional and attentive to any questions about the project. The project itself included widening the attic access. They did such a stellar job that you can't even tell the access was ever altered. In fact, it looks better than when they arrived. They also patched and painted around the new thermostat so it looks like it was there all along. We obtained multiple quotes from a few different businesses for this project. Mountainside was right within fair market value and they offered an awesome Veteran discount (they offer discounts to active duty military, veterans, and first responders). The financing process was incredibly easy and the financing company has been great to work with as well. BONUS- this organization is Veteran owned! My elderly mother lives alone in Peoria and my son lives down the street from her. Recently, within a matter of days of each other, both of their 3-year old air conditioning units went out. Given the extreme temperatures in the region right now, it was imperative that both A/C units get fixed asap. Steve and Tom fixed my mother's A/C unit within two hours of being called, then when when my son's unit went out as well, they came back and fixed his, also within a matter of a couple hours. And the best part...they didn't over charge them! In this heat, with all the business they have it would have been very easy to charge a premium but they didn't. They came prepared, had all the tools and supplies they needed, and fixed both units. They even gave some helpful hints about the air filters. If I could thank them personally I would, but I'm not in the area so I'm thanking them publicly on Yelp for their honesty, integrity and for taking such excellent care of my family members. My AC stopped working a few days ago. Mountainside had a technician out within an hour of me calling them. The technician replaced a blown fuse and advised me that the compressor was about to go. It was time to replace the unit. Not surprising because the unit was very old. We talked about options and pricing on new units. I chose one and they were able to install it the very next day!!! Update: Updating review to reflect the service and communication from the kind owner Tom. AVOID at all costs. Replaced AC motor for $1,121 on Wednesday 10/4. Three hours later AC was randomly turning off. They came out again and said it was a separate wiring issue. 36 hours later AC is blowing hot air. Find it really hard to believe that 3 separate things broke as a coincidence within that timeframe. Seems logical that the wiring was jostled during the multiple hours fixing problem #1, especially given the fact that the tech commented that it took longer than expected. That's really reassuring. Save yourself the headache and additional expenses and book a better HVAC company. read more

I have used this company four times in the past few months including replacing my two very old a/c units on my home and work on two different units at my rental home. Each time the office staff, technicians and owner has gone above and beyond to make sure the work happens quickly, efficiently, communication and actions are communicated well and prior to work beginning. They were a very good family-owned company a few years ago, and I have always been happy with their service. However, things have changed today I was charged $400.00 to change a capacitor. I have a service contract so they were here to tune up my system, this was covered under the service contract I bought, and would not have had to pay anything, except I needed a new run capacitor that should not have cost $400.00. I am a 70-year-old disabled veteran and live on a fixed income. Thanks to Yelp, when I needed to find a company to fix my HVAC unit, I found Mountainside Air. I actually called them for a second opinion after my regular Heating & Air quoted me a very high price to replace the blower on my unit. Steve and Raoul came out and checked all systems. Blower did need replacing and I was quoted a price that was much lower than the other company. 2 hours later I had a new blower and all systems were working well. I am very impressed with the company as well as with Steve and Raoul. Steve and Tom came out and put a couple mini split systems at my house a few months ago and they did a really great job! The mini splits are great for only cooling my living room during the day and my bedroom at night and I'm really enjoying the cheaper electric bill that I had last month. I had read through most of the user reviews from heat pump owners at: https://www.furnacecompare.com/heat-pumps/reviews/. Bosch and whirlpool heat pumps got the best reviews from actual owners. I was able to determine that a Bosch heat pump had the highest customer satisfaction rating. Then I got a list of Bosch installers in the North Valley and checked their ratings at www.yelp.com. Only three Bosch installers got consistent 5-star reviews. I e-mailed all three describing my project, and only Tom at Mountainside Air got back to me, actually on the first day, too. That was last Saturday. They came out to my house on Thursday, and after inspecting my current Trane heat pump setup from December 2000, told me that to get a rooftop unit where the air handler and condenser unit were both on the roof, which was my current setup, there was only one Bosch complete rooftop package to choose from. That was the Bosch 19-seer variable-speed blower, Inverter Ducted Packaged Heat Pump. I agreed to go with this packaged unit, and was told they could install it on Saturday morning, starting at 6:00AM. (Only one week after they contacted me). So the custom fabricated sheet metal ductwork, the stand, the loan application, the crane operator, and the new Bosch unit were all in place first thing Saturday morning, and just under four hours later, the new Bosch heat pump was installed and in operation. My old Trane unit was hauled off, and my house is now air-conditioned for the first time in a year. I am extremely satisfied, and I highly recommend the crack team at Mountainside Air.
