System is 22 years old, and everything was found functioning properly at the time of the visit. $85 for the service call felt reasonable for the level of inspection performed. This is about the 3rd time we have Gladiate Air Conditioning come out to our home and they are always prompt , reliable, courteous, reasonably priced and all around great attitudes by everyone we communicate with. I want to point out that another company we had come service our unit previously (about a year ago), right away told us we needed a new AC unit. We weren't ready to spend that kind of money and being that our unit seemed to be working fine we declined to have them install a new one. The next time our unit needed to be serviced (right before summer 2023), we called Gladiate. Not only were they great but the guy who came out told us our unit was fine. As long as we keep up with the services we should be ok. They weren't trying to sell us a new unit like the other company and they seemed to really care about their customers! Appointment scheduling is easy and painless which is nice these days! This last time we had them come out it was somewhat urgent as our AC motor went out and although the weather is starting to turn it was still too hot to be without AC. This company was referred over to me by my church, unfortunately he assessed the AC, gave me the potential diagnosis and never came back for a follow up. He determined on his own that this might be charity work. Whereas, free service or reduced rate was not requested or presumed. I am very disappointed that the owner David, coming highly recommended assumed something different. Unfortunately, he lost a lifetime client today. Response to you: You are incorrect. He did not know my response to the $825, because, he walked out the door and never came back to determine the next steps. He assumed we did not have the funds and proceeded with providing a small 1 450sq ft unit for 2700 sq ft home (when he offered two) . A simple I cannot or will not do the job would have sufficed. His statement of "I do enough charity work" because we were a referral from the church is what makes no sense to me. Then noon came without anyone showing. Then 1pm. Called several times, left several messages, no call no show. Never got a call back and no one ever showed up. I have been meaning to write a review for Dave for some time. My air conditioner broke down after 7 years of operating with no issues after buying the home. I had an archaic/obsolete model sitting on my roof that Dave would periodically maintain (My Mom gave me his contact info.). On the rare occasion that Dave didn't just trouble shoot issues I was having over the phone for free, any charges that I received for his work were not significant. The AC broke down in the middle of August, and this was the first time that Dave had to do real work and he got it all done extremely fast. The fortunate side of my bad luck was that the unit broke down on a Friday, and Dave had my system installed and running by Monday evening. He made every effort to get the job done first thing in the morning, which is unheard of given the quick procurement of a model that fit in a confined working space, but unfortunately couldn't get the crane on time to have things back to normal on Monday morning. Really minor hiccup that Dave actively communicated with me on. Given the expediency and efficiency that was delivered, I really feel that Dave over-delivered. Of course a new AC unit and cost of labor for this kind of job isn't going to be cheap, but in hindsight and having scoped out comps from time to time since, he was VERY AFFORDABLE. So glad I found Gladiate! We were told we needed our AC coil and blower cleaned by a technician from another company after a tune-up. The price they quoted was insane and they tried very hard to scare me into having it done on the spot. I got quotes from half a dozen other places. All of them were way less than what the initial company wanted to charge, and Gladiate's was by far the best. I appreciated the quick response from Gabriel and the immediate availability. When he came out he was punctual, professional and personable. I instantly knew Gladiate was going to be our go-to HVAC contractor from now on. I told him how dirty our equipment supposedly was before he started. A less honest person could have come back and said, "Yeah, it's worse than I thought. I'm gonna have to charge more than I initially quoted." But Gabriel confirmed with before and after pictures that our system was nowhere near that bad. That other technician was exaggerating to justify overcharging us. With Gladiate we paid for only what was needed to get the job done right--an hour of labor and some coil cleaner.
