Really nice little hole-in-the-wall spot with great food and a cozy atmosphere. We went for an early lunch, so it was surprisingly quiet and we practically had the place to ourselves. Everything we ordered was delicious and clearly made with care. It is a bit on the pricey side, but the quality of the food and service helped make up for it. One of the sweetest touches was when she brought out free ice cream for the kids. Totally unexpected and such a kind gesture that made the experience feel extra personal. Last Friday, I traveled to Hayes for a gathering as part of a social group. I've only been in this area once during a trip to Tangier Island. The area is small but they do have places to go. As a matter of fact, this restaurant is located behind a church so chances are you'll blink and miss it like I did. Let's see how the visit went, shall we? The restaurant is spacious where you have a bar section on one side with a gaming area and hi-top tables and another section with a bar area, pool tables and seating tables where we were located. The decor is really nice (didn't get a chance to take pics) and spotless. Definitely a place where you can catch sports games and such. After our party arrived, it was time to place our orders. I selected their fish and chips (rockfish was the protein) along with red crispers and I replaced their coleslaw with green beans. Overall, the dish was really good. The fish was crispy and well seasoned and the red crispers tasted wonderful with their homemade tarter sauce as the dipper. I wasn't a big fan of the green beans as I prefer mine to be soft though. But I was plenty full with the dish overall. The reason why I gave them 4 stars was service for our group. It wasn't bad as we were attended to by the welcoming staff, but it was 3 total servers which was a little weird. One server was new and messed up some of the orders. And for one person, their dish came out a little different than how she imagined so she sent it back and paid nothing. Again, not bad service but much needed training for the new guy. Very nice bar and grill, with some pasta selections and a decent choice of beers. I usually get some very nice local oysters on the half shell, steamed shrimp or crab cakes. The crab pitchers app are like miniature round crab cakes with lots of lump crab meat, and not overspiced. read more

This is a nice restaurant and really like how they have moved things around in the last 1-2 years. Saturday night and only 2-3 tables seem really slow. The waitress was ok, not real friendly but the manager did stop by and was amazing. Steamed shrimp was good, tuna bites(seasoning was good) we ordered them medium and half were but the other half were well done. Fried rockfish had no flavor and the bun was burnt like real black burnt. Steamed oysters were good. Crab cake sandwich arrived partially cooked and had to be sent back. I'd say the cook could use some training, serving uncooked seafood is not good and a bun should never leave the kitchen that burnt and hard. Awesome, just AWESOME! We were looking for someplace new, and discovered this little gem! Huge place with two different dining areas: A sports- and gaming bar, and a slightly quieter, slightly more formal area. We were greeted as soon as we arrived, and the waitress, Deb, let us wander about to determine where we wanted to sit. We chose the bar area. We were there just about noon on Sunday, so very small crowd as we arrived. The menu(s) we're pretty comprehensive and offered choices for most any diet. We wanted to test several items: The She Crab Soup: Thick, rich, served temp hot with sherry...the way she crab should be served, and it had a LOT of crabmeat, too! The Fish/Chips platter: perfectly fried w a side of potato wedges and creamy coleslaw. Huge portions! Chicken Wings. Fried perfectly, we tried the ranch, blue cheese, parm/garlic, and mango habanero sauces on the side:all delish! Fries: the thicker cut with a coating, but they were piping hot, not greasy, and tasty! Looks like they'll be crowded for the NFL playoffs, too, so if you're local, looks like a great place to hang! Just recently visited IDK Cafe and was impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere. I ordered the Buffalo Shrimp for an appetizer and the Special Thanksgiving dinner of Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs and Sweet Potato pie. To say it was delicious was an understatement. Loved the servers and the staff who made our meal awesome. Even won $50 on the machines. read more

We came on Easter to relax after working a busy brunch shift and me and my friend absolutely adored this place. The people are very sweet and the food was delicious. The food came out in perfect timing and the presentation was mouth watering. We had the Seafood Dip which was heavy and delicious. It had a nice touch of spice and a comforting warmth. The bread paired with was as delicious as it looked! My friend got the Bacon Mushroom Swiss and was nervous about the burger but left full and excited for more! I got the Shrimp and Scallop Scampi and it was absolutely delicious. The prices were great for the quality and taste of the food. Highly recommend if you want a tasty bite for a great price! The atmosphere was welcoming and full of many options for groups of friends. And the event list was very exciting. We will be coming back to experience more. I had crab cakes that were over done, the crust was burnt underneath. The cakes seemed to have more breading than crab and for being in that area of the state there should have been a little more crab in it. The fried shrimp was good but I thought the coating was a little overcooked. I was very disappointed in the oysters casino, It has been years since I had some, but never with buffalo sauce on them. My husband ordered a loaded backed potato but the it was also not cooked well. Also if someone orders only a potato like that the least you can do is put it on a plate that is a little larger, He could barely spread it out to mix the potato and toppings. read more

My family (husband, 16yr old, 3 yr old and Me) went here for dinner last night. As soon as we walked in I was pleased to see nice friendly faces and then I saw they had the beers on the bar for the fallen soldiers. I love that. We were seated at a comfortable booth. We ordered the artichoke dip and it was very good! My husband actually said that twice. My 3 yr old got chicken tenders, my 16yr old got a chicken sandwich, my husband got the monte cristo and I got the sirloin. Everyone seemed happy with their food. I would say if you're looking for fancy plating this isn't the place. I got premium Mac and cheese with my steak. It was okay and was just kind of plopped on my plate like you do at home but other than that everything was good. My daughters chicken sandwich was huge and delicious. I was sad to see It wasn't very busy. It doesn't ever seem like it is when we drive by. I hope it picks up for them because they are a good place to go. We would go back! read more

I've not visited this restaurant before and I'll be honest... I'm super picky about what I eat and how it's prepared. I was pleasantly surprised. I was there for a local meeting with a group I'm part of and I need to eat gluten free. I just told the waitress what I really wanted that wasn't on the menu. A fillet of wild caught fish broiled with ONLY sea salt, real butter and fresh diced garlic and a side of something healthy. She recommended a fillet of Rock Fish (one of my favs) and asparagus: It was perfect. I started noticing the dishes being served among the group and how they were plated and called the waitress over for the ultimate question: Do you have a real live CHEF in the kitchen or just a cook. She said "We have a real Chef". I thought so.... you could see it on the dishes coming from the kitchen... beautiful... not skimpy and I'm sure full of flavor. The gentleman next to me had the appetizer Steak Bites. He said they were wonderful and he didn't need a thing. He said it melted in his mouth. The burger someone else got was HUGE and look like it was hand made. She loved it. Big surprise here. Recommended they add Gluten free Burger buns and bread and other GF options and they would own the area. read more

Was looking for a place to watch the game on Sunday. Ended up here. This place has lots of room to entertain and plenty of TVs. But the real reason for this 4 star review is the cheap prices for food and drinks. The crowd that goes to this place is fun to be around as well. Great bartender Rena. We sort of stumbled upon this place accidentally after failing to get a reservation for a large party -- at first glance we had pretty low expectations but were absolutely delighted by every dish!! The steamed shrimp and tuna bite appetizers were both great, as were the steak tips, shrimp and sausage skillet, and the fish and chip entrees!!! Ate there for the first time and I knew as soon as I entered the building that it probably wasn't going to be right, it wasn't! First, they ate a raw bar and they tell us they're out of shrimp secondly the oysters are $1.80 a piece, very expensive and they were very small. The waitresses knew nothing about the menu so if you have questions about it just try to figure it out. The food took forever to come out and when it arrived it was not seasoned well at all. You could see people at the other table we're having similar experiences. One table never got their drinks till the end of their meal. Another had to wait for silverware while their food sat there getting cold. When we went to pay we gave them our credit card and they totally forgot that they had it and we waited and waited and waited finally had to say something. Needless to say we will not be returning. I don't know how long this place will last but I don't look at it as a restaurant I look at it more as a bar in the making that is the only way it will survive. read more
