She crab soup: lots of crab and served with a side of sherry!
    Cindy H.

Awesome, just AWESOME! We were looking for someplace new, and discovered this little gem! Huge place with two different dining areas: A sports- and gaming bar, and a slightly quieter, slightly more formal area. We were greeted as soon as we arrived, and the waitress, Deb, let us wander about to determine where we wanted to sit. We chose the bar area. We were there just about noon on Sunday, so very small crowd as we arrived. The menu(s) we're pretty comprehensive and offered choices for most any diet. We wanted to test several items: The She Crab Soup: Thick, rich, served temp hot with sherry...the way she crab should be served, and it had a LOT of crabmeat, too! The Fish/Chips platter: perfectly fried w a side of potato wedges and creamy coleslaw. Huge portions! Chicken Wings. Fried perfectly, we tried the ranch, blue cheese, parm/garlic, and mango habanero sauces on the side:all delish! Fries: the thicker cut with a coating, but they were piping hot, not greasy, and tasty! Looks like they'll be crowded for the NFL playoffs, too, so if you're local, looks like a great place to hang! Look forward to returning, hopefully next time for oysters and tuna bites! Great experience!

I love this. They were doing the beers for the fallen soldiers.

My family (husband, 16yr old, 3 yr old and Me) went here for dinner last night. As soon as we walked in I was pleased to see nice friendly faces and then I saw they had the beers on the bar for the fallen soldiers. I love that. We were seated at a comfortable booth. We ordered the artichoke dip and it was very good! My husband actually said that twice. My 3 yr old got chicken tenders, my 16yr old got a chicken sandwich, my husband got the monte cristo and I got the sirloin. Everyone seemed happy with their food. I would say if you're looking for fancy plating this isn't the place. I got premium Mac and cheese with my steak. It was okay and was just kind of plopped on my plate like you do at home but other than that everything was good. My daughters chicken sandwich was huge and delicious. I was sad to see It wasn't very busy. It doesn't ever seem like it is when we drive by. I hope it picks up for them because they are a good place to go. We would go back!

Surf & turf NY strip & steamed oysters. Those are THE BEST fries too!

Burgers were awful. Overcooked and just overall bad. All three of us had a burger with same assessment.

In most restaurants the servers don't even look at customers they are not working with. Our server, Darien E, was very smiling, kind and helpful. He added to our already good experience at Fat Tuna. Darrien is a William and Mary Student and I feel like he is going to add good things to our world. She was friendly, attentive, and the food came out pretty quick and nice and hot. They brought out some little hush puppies when we sat down, which was a nice little extra. I started with the calamari, and it was really good. Nice and crispy, good-sized portion, and came with a little lemon. For dinner I got the Williamsburg-style shrimp and grits. It had jumbo shrimp with a tasso ham gravy over creamy cheddar stone-ground grits, with a garlic crostini. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. The grits were really good too. The whole dish was flavorful without being spicy or too hot. Overall, I really enjoyed the place. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere. Definitely two thumbs up and I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Williamsburg.

The service was friendly and very informative, which was nice as we made decisions. The ambience was also excellent; we sat outside, but would've been happy to sit inside in the lively dining room. The standout dish of the meal was the baked Chincoteague clams. These were flavored with Thai green curry and were excellent bites. The smoked pork taco was also very much a stand out, the smoked flavors contrasted well with the freshness and it relief belt as if this taco provided bang for buck. The other dishes were well executed. A crab gazpacho with grape and other aromatic flavors as the base was well done but there was not much crab and so did not feel as if it was a particularly worthwhile dish to get. The grape flavor was also somewhat too prominent for my liking, but the dish was refreshing and light as promised. The brussels sprouts were solid but not particularly memorable. The oyster taco was slightly overburdened by slaw and proved somewhat more tangy than what was called. I would definitely come back for the clams and the smoked pork taco and would be interested to taste the raw preparations as well as the fried chicken taco next time.

Thanks to Yelp for leading us to Casa Pearl!…read more We were charging our car for a roadtrip at the Wawa next door and was looking for something a little more elevated than a sub to tide us over for dinner. The high reviews and the bumpin' scene outside led us to Casa Pearl. A quick look around, we thought that we might have to find a place more kid friendly but the lovely hostess assured us that they were in fact welcoming to the under ten set. So with a few kids menus and crayons in hand, we all ended up having the best rest stop dinner of our life! Everything was served tapas style and service was extremely quick so we were able to get fully fed during out 45 minute charging session. Truly a win. Kiddos loved the chicken tenders, chicken quesadillas, and tostones. I loved my margarita (no super sweet mix here, this was some good stuff), brussel sprouts, and chargrilled oysters. My husband LOVED the chicharrones and pimento cheese dip as well and was happy by how GF friendly everything was. We would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

It's still quite wonderful and price comparable with Berrett's, which is equally excellent. I started with the compressed watermelon and feta salad. I had the salmon which was exactly the right size, perfectly cooked and accompanied by roasted asparagus. My husband had the crab soup which was delicious. His entree was shrimp bucatini that he enjoyed but found the portion much too large. Service was outstanding, and my rather complex food restrictions were treated with respect and caution. Situated right under the York River bridge, not far from the Yorktown museum, is the cutest village. I'm sorry, they can't claim it as part of the original Yorktown but it is cute. There is a lovely river walk...hence the name of the restaurant. They have some of the BEST views in the area being right there. We had reservations however it being the busiest day for restaurants, we had to chill our heels for a few moments before being taken back. I was more than ok with this as we ended up getting a window seat (see above for reference). Thank heavens they put the name of the server in the receipt cuz y'all know my Swiss cheese brain. Cara was the wonderful server who took care of us. She was always there ready for me to get my mum good & spoiled. Super friendly and very helpful. The buffet, it was impressive for a buffet and while not a big buffet, it was specialized. First up were 3 different kinds of salads, then a fruit platter, and bagels & cream cheese. They had a raw bar with shrimp & oysters next, then breakfast stuff (eggs, potatoes bacon etc) mac & cheese, garlic mashed taters & then a carving station with turkey, ham & lamb. Finally a small but respectful dessert table. If you couldn't find something to fill you, you weren't looking. The single sour note of the buffet was the salmon and Mac & cheese. I'll know better next time. Overall the River Walk has come back with perfect timing and style. I highly recommend a visit. Parking is a pain but patience will help

After agonizing over places to go in a tourist town, we chose Ember for our anniversary dinner…read more The food was amazing, the options were perfect. One part safe bet, two parts interesting options. After reviewing the cocktails, and asking waitstaff for recommendations, I ordered the Liquid Sword. This cocktail was a unique combination of flavors that accentuated and complimented each other to make something more than the sum of its parts. For my meal, I ordered the safe bet: the Prime Ribeye. My wife took the adventurous route (not normal for her) with the Gochujang Bolognese. Everything was amazing. The steak stood on its own, but the compound butter (Black Garlic) took it over the top. The Bolognese had amazing flavor with a little bit of a kick, which she was nervous about, but wanted to try something she couldn't get anywhere else. In a tourist town, there are many mediocre restaurants that survive on one time tourist visits. Ones that would quickly be out of business in any other town. Ember is not one of them. It was obvious to me that the waitstaff had respect for the guests and the guest experience, which is so rare and so refreshing. You could tell they actually genuinely cared. I noticed several small details that may have went unnoticed to some, such as pipelining solutions to possible issues to improve guest experience. Don't sleep on this restaurant. We came into town and didn't realize that most of the "nicer" restaurants close early (8:30p) and that you need a reservation. I'm so glad we looked at other places and found Ember. It was a wonderful experience and we look forward to going back the next time we're in town. Ember, if you are reading this: keep on keeping on. Do not turn into the status quo of tourist trap restaurants. Keep a menu that has approachable items and continue to keep the unique interesting items like you have, while empowering your staff to help the guests to connect with the dishes that they will enjoy.
