I was absolutely amazed at the food we received! We were staying at Bass lake and wanted to go out to dinner. Going to a little town we weren't sure what we would get, but whoever runs this place and the chef is definitely care about quality of food. We had a pretty big party and called ahead to let them know. Everyone had something different, but everything tasted amazing. Great clam chowder Steak cooked perfectly with good flavor Salmon was delicious Wings were cooked perfect Kids finished both kids meals which if you know kids it's usually a couple of bites and "I'm done" I would recommend this place to anyone traveling through here. Oakhurst is a tourist town outside of Yosemite. The options in the area are fairly limited so places like Oakhurst Grill capitalize on this. We decided to try Oakhurst Grill because it was one of the only places still open when we rolled into town. (Places close early here) Service- 2.5/5: Both times I've been here the waitresses have been polite and somewhat attentive. We were seated within 20 mins but had another 15min wait to actually place our order. It seemed like it took awhile to just get started with drinks. They do a high volume here with a large staff so the service is likely inconsistent. Food quality: 3/5 My burger was actually very good, with 1/2lb of quality beef. I would get it again. I've had the chicken Alfredo which was ok, but nothing extraordinary. Steak tips for an appetizer were ok and the crab cakes were flavorful. My vegan friend had the Al Fresco (Tomato, artichoke heart, Mediterranean olive blend, garlic, onion, spinach and mushrooms, balsamic vinegar, served over penne pasta with a side of ciabatta bread.) He barely touched it because it just didn't taste good. Everyone at the table tried it and agreed we wouldn't recommend it. The cheesecake "bites" for dessert is more like a slice of previously frozen cheesecake cut into 2 pieces, with a drizzle of syrup on top. Atmosphere- 4/5: The interior is dated but had a rustic vibe that fits the environment. The outdoor seating has a nice view but the exterior is rather narrow for the size of the tables. Value- 3/5: Pricing is higher but what I would expect near a national park. The potions were generous. Overall- 3/5: I would eat here again if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to. Arrived early for this visit around 4:30pm to beat the dinner crowd. Chose to be seated in the main dining area which was still empty with only a couple tables taken. We ended a lovely trip to Yosemite with a delicious dinner on the patio at Oakhurst Grill & Whiskey Lounge. What a beautiful restaurant and the food was delicious. I ordered the salmon skewers with grilled pineapple. Loved the teriyaki glaze on it. Then my friend ordered the chicken piccata subbed with pasta instead of rice. Fresh and good ingredients. Our waiter was super nice! He also recommended us what kind of drink we would like and he knows his whiskeys and tequila for sure! The ambiance was great! On our last day of family vacation in the Yosemite area we had dinner at Oakhurst grill. The restaurant was filled with the paintings landscapes and florals from the original owner and founder. We had a nice photo op with a huge wooden bear before coming in . Our party consisted of 5 adults one in a wheelchair and two young kids . This place was spacious , comfortable, and could easily accommodate all our needs. The food was good and the menu selection had something for everyone. We ordered pastas , burgers, appetizers, salad, soup, and also kids meals. Everything was good and came out in a timely manner. The service we received was exceptional and very much appreciated . Our server Robert was great and did an excellent job. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He made sure we had everything we needed and didn't miss a single thing. This is a nice and convenient restaurant if you're staying at Best Western. We had immediate seating and it has a very homey and cozy vibe inside. Our waitress was nice and attentive and got our orders in quickly. I ordered the Californian sandwich with garlic fries and it was refreshing. came here for dinner two nights in a row. we stayed at the fairfield just 2 minutes away so it was perfect location. We brought our dog with us and we were able to be seated on the patio right away both nights. warm heaters were turned on right after seating too. so peaceful and quiet on the patio. As for the food and drinks, the first night we got the jumbo shrimp, old fashioned, shrimp alfredo, fries, apple salad and the toffee pudding. Everything was delicious and all portion sizes were great. Our second night we got the artichoke dip, island cocktail, margarita, schnitzel, vegetarian naan and cheesecake bites. The artichoke dip was a tad spicy but still delicious. The naan was like a pizza and was sweet from the jam, while also being cheesy. Our favorite items were the fries, jumbo shrimp, toffee pudding, cheesecake, mashed potatoes, asparagus.... it was all great! no complaints on food. all the workers were kind and fast. We decided to stop in for dinner and drinks after hiking at Yosemite that day. The drinks were great and the food was very good too, we sat at the bar and our bartender/server was very attentive. The paintings throughout the restaurant are beautiful and we learned they were hand painted by the owner's grandmother which made it even more special. TLDR: Blackened Salmon, Pork Schnitzel After a long winter day at Yosemite (about 1.5 hrs away), we got to this place around 6:15pm and there was a line. I like how you don't have to give your name, they will just give you a beeper. By the time we finished around 7pm, there wasn't much of a wait. We first ordered Buffalo Wings as an app. The sauce we got, May Ploy, tastes Thai... sweet and a hint of spicy. The wings are crunchy, and I like the sauce a lot. My wife ordered the blackened salmon, with rice and steamed veggies. It came with some kind of green picante sauce. The salmon was cooked very well. Smooth, moist, buttery. Nothing worse than dried salmon. Luckily this wasn't it. I had schnitzel. I LOVE schnitzel! It's too bad that it isn't more popular in other restaurants. I like the breading, but the meat was a little dry... probably because it's so thin. But I really liked the gravy and the mashed potatoes. I'm not sure how this place has an average of four star rating. Maybe we just caught them on an off night. Let's start with the positives. We were seated immediately in the bar room eating area. The ambience is comfortable and nice. Chairs were comfortable and the table was clean. They have a large variety of whiskeys that you can sample in different taster sizes. After this, it's all downhill. There were two servers working a room with approximately 10 tables and they were clearly overwhelmed. It took them at least 10 minutes to come over and take our drink orders. At this point, we had already decided what we wanted to eat so we placed our order right then and there, fearful we were in for a long wait time. As an appetizer, I ordered the Romain wedge salad. It arrived 30 minutes later. I know they were busy, but how long could it possibly take to make a salad? On top of that, there was barely any blue cheese dressing on it. And the waiting continued... We watched two other groups come in significantly later than us, both of which had three people each, get their food before us. By the time we got our food, it had been an hour and a half. I thought maybe it was because we ordered something from the menu that wasn't their normal fair and it took them longer. That wasn't the case as I watched other tables eating the same thing that we were eating. My wife had the chicken piccata and her food was cold. While it was OK to the taste, it was nothing spectacular. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo with penne pasta. It came with five shrimp on a skewer on a bed of penne pasta with arguably the most bland, watered down Alfredo sauce I've ever tasted. To say it was below average would be a compliment. While the shrimp was OK, it was nothing worth ordering again. On top of this, we ended up paying $80 for two meals, a salad, and one beer. This was before tip. The two waiters, while nice and pleasant, were unable to come back to our table at any point and ask if we want to drink refills until we were clearly ready to go. On top of that, I saw one of the servers on her phone and chatting it up with another customer at the bar. What little food my wife had left over, we'd asked for a box, which we had to ask for a second time just to get it. All in all, we were there for a total of two and 1/2 hours, which was about an hour and a half longer than we needed to be there. Needless to say, we will not be returning here nor would we recommend this to anyone who is interested in eating a descent meal in a reasonable time, having attentive servers, and feeling like you got your moneys worth. Maybe the fact that they have a variety of whiskeys is what makes this place get the four stars average it does. read more

It seemed like everyone was in Oakhurst the day after Christmas! First, we went to a bar at the chateau we were staying, but it was so crowded that there were no seats left! Next, we went to another bar/restaurant and it was just as hectic! The server suggested we sit outside since there were no available tables inside. After we checked it out, we were turned off by the mess. There was also a ridiculously long line at the famous barbecue place nearby, so we ended up at this place. When we arrived, there were so many people waiting in the lobby that I thought we would have to find somewhere else to eat. Fortunately, the wait was only 15-20 minutes! Hooray!! The atmosphere was okay, and people were loud, obviously having a good time. The host was a little frazzled, which was understandable given the crowd. However, our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. My man and I shared two items: A French Dip and a big-ass pretzel. The French Dip was edible, but we've had better. The pretzel, on the other hand, was ginormous! It was about the size of my head! It was delectably salty and fun to eat! I'm relieved we found a place to have dinner!
