I want to give a 3.5 but am rounding up to a 4. Located in a very pretty hotel. While walking in, I thought to myself "it's gorgeous, why didn't we stay here again?" and then remembered because all of their low ratings as a hotel are due to poor service. The receptionist at the entrance is very bleh (didn't even greet us, she just looked at us so we said hello first ). We sat down and ordered. We were the only customers. The girl who took our order was nice enough but lacked professionalism. She just seemed out of it. She didn't write down our order, but a few minutes later came back saying "wait what did you for your entree again?". I'm glad she double checked, but for the price of the food and aesthetic of the restaurant, I expected better service. I ordered the wagyu burger but wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked - I assume they only cook it well-done because that's how it came. It didn't have the juicy buttery flavor of Wagyu, or really any flavor at all. The bread was good. The fries are phenomenal and I liked that more than my burger Carrots & whipped ricotta was good but not great - very flat flavor profile of ricotta, honey, and carrots. I think this dish could've been better with some acidity like a bit of lemon on the side. The chicken pesto penne pasta was good, but still flat. It would be better with cherry tomatoes or something to give it depth. The pasta was cooked perfectly Despite the chicken being absolutely tiny (approx 4"), it was juicy. Wish there was more of it I didn't care for the butternut squash soup but my husband liked it. It had good flavor but was very thin. Overall the place is pretty, but I wouldn't return as the food was very forgettable. It's a shame that the best thing was the side of fries. I'm giving a 4 due to the food tasting clean/quality. read more

The Hemlock Restaurant & Bar is located in the Inelle Hotel. This is where elite members get their free breakfast. The restaurant was just like the hotel. They were woefully shorthanded the Saturday morning we visited. They only had one gentleman working as a waiter for the entire restaurant that was filled with people. He seemed to do the best that he could. A couple of times, Claire from the front desk assisted when she could step away from the front desk. They have a pretty good menu. For some reason, I decided go Hawaiian and try their loco moco. The loco moco wasn't my thing. I didn't like it. If I visit this hotel again, I will definitely try a more traditional breakfast. read more

The Inelle was our home base for our 4 night visit to Yosemite. We had breakfast here each morning. Food was very good and the front of house staff Sam and Bob were fantastic. They got to know us over the four days and by the end, knew my family's order exactly. Bob is great to talk baseball with and Sam has great insights about the surrounding area. Back of house was a little inconsistent. I got the classic breakfast w/ sausage all four mornings. In that time, I was served three different types of breakfast sausage. They also have great breakfast potatoes that come with sautéed onions and peppers, again, they were delicious but inconsistent. A couple of times there was an abundance of onions and peppers, the others I had to search for them. Finally, they tended to lack certain menu items. My daughter loved their overnight oats. However on our final morning, they were not available because the kitchen didn't prep them the night before. read more

We had a large group of 12 and the staff was very accommodating and kind. They were able to get us quickly seated because we had a reservation. We were seated outside and it was dimly let, but from what I remember there were some outdoor games outside that looked fun. The burger was decent and the fries were cooked well. read more

Traveling for work and stayed at The Inelle located in Oakhurst Yosemite, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. The Hemlock Restaurant & Bar is the restaurant onsite. I ordered the Bleu salad add chicken and a piece of cheesecake. Delicious! Fire pit outside . I'm super happy that the owner supports the local breweries.. I'm also disappointed because I like a cold Modelo. I picked the location based on a restaurant and bar to avoid driving somewhere. Can the owner read this and add Coors light, Modelo and a white claw? Could be a fun local hangout. Everyone knows regulars keep the lights on. Sophia was awesome. Kept busy and the place was clean and tidy. It was nice to chat to her while I started to unwind from work before bed. I found it interesting because I had to work late a couple of nights that all the restaurants and places were closed. A few weeks ago I was traveling downtown Sonora and there was a restaurant there that actually opened at 7 PM. While traveling for work chitchatting to the folks, he learned that there was no place for people to eat. The place was packed because all of the people came from Yosemite and stayed in Sonora. In the past the had nowhere to eat. I heard it twice in the short time I was there! Also people who live in different countries don't always eat the same hours we do. The bruschetta was good but very chunky so it just slid right off the bread onto the table when you tried to take a bite. The garlic fries were better and a good portion. The Inelle is gorgeous and perfectly themed, being just outside Yosemite National Park. Hemlock is the lobby bar and restaurant. I did not eat there, but the drinks are lovely and the beer is cold. The bartender was kind and personable. Cozy seating, (although the lobby is quite small), amazing decor and ambiance, and the beauty of the Sierras make this a special little place. Even if you aren't staying here, it's worth it to stop by, have a cocktail, beer, or glass of wine, and enjoy the indoor or outdoor seating, including fire pits. read more

The seared pork belly was SO good. The sauce was phenomenal. Love the atmosphere, very cozy and rustic chic. I cannot emphasize this enough, the space smells incredible. Most hotel lobbies have that iconic hotel musk, but there's this light citrus-y scent that hits you when you come in and it was really pleasant to just sit and enjoy the room. The bartender and server were both really friendly and welcoming. It looks like when the weather is cooler there are patio seating options. Food was made fresh and the sauce, again cannot stress this enough, I wanted to walk out with a bottle of. It was on the pricier side, $28 for an entree so we only ordered appetizers. Robin and I went for the Thanksgiving Feast and had a wonderful time. We were greeted immediately by the host. The restaurant is very small and classy. Indoor seating is limited to about 12 at tables and another 15 at the bar. Outdoors seating was available for about another 20. It was a cool evening so we were offered a table indoors but we chose to sit outside where we were very comfortable sitting near a gas fire pit and patio tower heaters. We could tell that the staff weren't expecting people to sit outside because they had to light the patio heaters although they had a couple of big gas fire pits blazing. They offered us a seat at the bar and we had cosmopolitans while the table was made ready. While at the bar, Chef Mateo came and introduced himself and verbally presented his menu. Our waitress did comment that we must be locals because no one else preferred outdoor seating. The dinner began with pumpkin soup with toasted sage which was wonderful, followed by a traditional but exceptional roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, roasted Brussels sprouts and bread dressing. Chef Mateo came back to our table to see how we were enjoying the meal. We were all smiles. The turkey was WONDERFUL. Chef Mateo told us it was marinated for 3 days. I had only eaten Brussels Sprouts one other time and swore I would never eat them again. Chef Mateo turned me around on the Brussels Sprouts and I look forward to having his again. Desert was a simple but delicious cinnamon apple crisp with ice cream. The meal was made perfect by accompanying it with a Justin Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc, a California coastal wine that is Medium-bodied and dry. After dinner we relaxed with a classic Grand Marnier snifter and coffee. Epic meal and service. After having had holiday meals at the Ahwahnee and Wawona dining rooms, the Narrow Gauge Inn, the June Bug, Oakhurst Grill, and Ducey's I can say it was the best Holiday meal we have had from any area restaurant. We heard that the chef was serving a turkey dinner during Thanksgiving week. We are so glad we came! The food was delicious!!!! For starters, we were served the most delicious pumpkin soup I have ever had - savory with just a hint of spice! So so good!!!! The turkey was Devine! So tender and tasty, served on a bed of smooth and creamy mashed potatoes! Freshly made cranberry sauce, Brussel spouts and stuffing rounded out the menu! For dessert, we were served an Apple crisp a la mode! Yum!!!! This is a small restaurant inside a relatively new hotel. It is nice inside with only a few tables. There are more tables outside near a roaring fireplace. Wish we lived closer! We would definitely come more often! read more

Mateo, who is the Executive Chef, handled a busy night without any staff. He was a one man band. Not only did he cook amazing food he had to be the bar tender and dishwasher! I can only imagine the fine food he could make if he had the staff necessary to operate a kitchen the way it should be. This young man is going places. Follow him wherever he works. My wife and I tried the restaurant/bar last night before going to the movies. We sat at the bar and were served by Krisann who did a very nice job given that this was her 2nd or 3rd night serving/bartending solo. We ordered an Old Fashioned and one of their specialty drinks "Little Church on the Hill". Both were good but Krisann missed the muddled cucumber that was to be in specialty drink. She's still new and trying very hard. Later we ordered two IPAs. The beer selection is limited and they do not have draught beer. Our IPAs were served in a can, with a pilsner glass. For food we ordered the Mediterranean Platter and the Impossible Cigar (with Waygu beef). The Med Platter was awesome (fresh and plentiful). The Impossible Cigar was "okay" in taste but overpriced for only one roll, cut in half; recommend two rolls, four halves. The bar/restaurant area is nicely done. Obviously everything is new, crisp, clean. Restrooms are well done. There was one other guest at the bar when we got there so the atmosphere was a bit sterile. Got better after we suggested some ambient, overhead music. They did honor a "locals" discount which did not show on the bill, just the grand total. We suggested they make that adjustment so that guests can tip on the pre-discounted total. All in all, not a disappointing first experience and we will try them again! read more

Super good food! The portions were great, they all tasted amazing, and the atmosphere was fun. It's kind of like the lobby of the hotel, but when there's people eating, it gives off the restaurant vibe. Looks like there's a bunch of seating options outside, but it was too warm for that when we were there. The bar was stocked for any drink we would've wanted, however, we weren't drinking anything but soda on this trip. Maybe next time, we'll stay for the night at the hotel and enjoy some cocktails while we eat. Will be going here again and again! Love that it's not too far from us. read more

We ate here when they first opened and it was a good experience. Unfortunately we decided to go again for Sunday breakfast today and it was totally the opposite experience. Service was slow and took forever to get the food even though there was no customers, then when we got the food it was reheated droll. The southwest bowl seemed to be missing the chorizo, the potatoes were just horrible and the toast would better be described as croutons. To top everything off.... lukewarm coffee? We're local folks that try to support local businesses but I would rather eat fast food next time than give them my money read more

Hemlock is a nice place. Nice atmosphere. You can sit outside or inside. The inside is connected to the lobby of the hotel so it will feel a tiny bit lobby'ish but the furnishings are nice and there's a bar, tv, fireplace. I had the bruschetta as a starter and it was really tasty. I had the chicken penne pasta for my main entree and it was very tasty. The pasta uses a light Alfredo sauce and includes mushrooms and dried tomatoes. I really liked it. I decided to go full course and also had the molten lava cake. It comes with a sliced up strawberry and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was pretty good. The cake was really rich. The service was personable and friendly but as they are a newer establishment it seems like some of the communication kinks may need to be worked out as I did sit down unattended for about 5 minutes. Ultimately not a big deal and overall I really liked the place, the people working there and the food. read more

I want to give a huge shout out to Mateo over at the inelle hotel in oakhurst. After a really really hard day we realized we had not eaten and decided to head over and try the bar bites. We ordered drinks and wagu sliders along with mozzarella sticks and their fries. I must say I dont think I've ever had mozzarella sticks made fresh and from scratch before. They were amazing. The sliders fantastic and the twice baked fries were crispy and delicious! We enjoyed sitting at the bar while Mateo wore many hats as bartender and Souz Chef. Many hotel guests joined in and it was definitely a night of learning new people and forgetting the day we had had. Before leaving we went out to the patio where we enjoyed the huge fire pit and spoke with a lovely couple from London on sabbatical. Turns out he knew all about Mt. Chipotle. This is definitely a hidden gem and hope more locals will visit and bring business to them during this slow time. The vibe was easy and classy and should be enjoyed. read more

We have come here twice now and both times I loved sitting out in their little courtyard area. It is very nice and has a great ambiance. The food has been delicious. We've tried a little over 50% of the menu and everything has tasted delicious. I do wish they had more drink options, but they are boozy and taste good. The only complaint I have is about the service. They are very slow and somewhat unorganized in deciding who is going to help which table. We had multiple people come over to us and ask if we'd been helped. The second time we went, it was on a Friday night and they became extremely busy after we had sat down. They actually forgot to put our entrees in and we waited over a hour for our food. I would come back again, but not on a weekend until they get their service issues resolved. read more

Had lunch with around 12 other folks and everyone spoke very highly of the quality, flavor and plating of our meals. Service was quick and a very pleasant environment on the patio. The ice cream I had tonight was TOP TEIR!!! I think I was called affgato. It was a vanilla ice cream with an expresso poured over the top with some waffle chips. BEST ITEM OF THE MENU!!!! The executive chef and service there was amazing. I will DEFINITELY be going back there!! Sitting out on the patio with the music and the fireplace is beautiful.
