I cannot say enough wonderful things about Idlewire Grooming--especially Lori! My little 18-year-old Shih Tzu has never looked so good. At his age, I'm very protective and cautious about who cares for him, but Lori treated my sweet baby with such patience, gentleness, and love. Then they over charged me, owner went through the motions of refunding me but didn't really do it. I had taken her there once before and all seemed fine until the 2nd appointment, she did not want to go in. I should have 'listened' to her. They did not give her water either in those 6 hours. My little 4# Yorkie was delivered to this establishment at 9:00 am today. At 2:00pm I hadn't heard from them so I called. She wasn't done yet. I asked why it was taking so long and was told "because they needed to do other dogs." I've used this company for years with my two dogs and it never took more the 2.5 to 3 hrs for both of them. The excuse given was, "I didn't specify when I would like her done," which I've never had to do in the past. I wasn't happy that they blamed me for her long stay. So my advice is -be sure to specify when you want your dog done, and don't expect any kind of customer service here. read more

I groom my dog myself at home with basic tools, I took my dog to be groomed and de shedded. I gave my dog a deep bath and used a high velocity dryer to get a ton of fur out. The next day we went to get her groomed. I paid for a de shedding nails and a sanitary shave. I was not happy at all. The nails where so choppy and little to nothing was taken off. The brushing was horrible as well as when I took my dog back I was pulling fur from her with ease. When I got home I had to do her nails and coat again. I do not recommend them as groomers as they didn't do a good job and I had to go home and groom her myself. They made my dogs ears irritated and red. With maybe a minute of brushing I got so much fur from my dog out. When I deeply brush my dog I don't have fur coming out when I pull. I was told "it happens" when I know for a fact it doesn't when I brush my dog out properly. Her nails where about the same length as when I brought her in with just the factor of super sharp choppy nails. The Dremel is suppose to round the nail not make it sharp. They tried to put blame on me when my dog was still losing a lot of fur saying since THEY didn't bathe and dry my dog so that was the reason when I bathed her myself and got a ton of fur out as I always do. While leaving I saw a picture to rent a cot for boarding. You have to pay for a cot or you dog lays on hard concrete all day and all night. Not to mention about $5 extra a day to have your dog get out for more then 2 potty breaks a day. I would never want my dog in a small kennel on heard concrete not being exercised for multiple days. Another thing is the waver. I had to sign that if my dog was hurt it was not there fault which is beyond not okay since they need to take responsibility for hurting your dog if they do. They got some fur out but still not enough since I got quite a lot out at home. They did Dremel her nails but not close to my expectations. Not the quality I need for my service dog. read more

Boarded our mini Aussie doodle and Alaskan Malamute for 5 days. Both were sneezing and coughing the day we picked them up. Their kennels were not even side by side, which tells me either the kennel was poorly cleaned in between dog boardings and/or it was poorly ventilated. If we have to prove our dogs have been vaccinated, then we should be shown proof the kennels are adequately cleaned and ventilated. Now we face expensive vet bills! Same deal on grooming! Our dog is extremely thirsty every time we pick her up after grooming, which makes us wonder if they purposely withhold water, so they don't pee during grooming or bathing! Our malamute is now bleeding out his nose. We took both of our dogs in and they both had kennel cough. One was given an antibiotic and is doing better. I completely understand what you're saying. I'm just telling you that they picked it up at your kennel either from your kennel or from another dog there. Maybe there was another dog there that was unhealthy. I have no idea. This is never happened to us before. $150 vet bill post kennel. Based on another reviews I've seen, it sounds like it's a little hit and miss. I'm just saying that maybe you should take another look at what's going on with your processes. Nobody's perfect as evidenced when our Aussie doodle was sliced by one of your groomers and had several stitches. We keep going back to her because we realize it was an accident and gave it another shot. So far, so good with the grooming part. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. I have boarded my dogs here in the past (15 years ago), and they were great. However, recently, I brought my dogs for boarding. They didn't want to go back with the employees, so I was allowed to walk them back. The kennel that they put them in had piles of another dog's feces. When asked about this, they said they hadn't had time to clean yet. This happened on two different occasions. Now, all of my dogs have developed kennel cough, and my older dog has pneumonia from it. All of my dogs are vaccinated against this, so it must have been pretty bad for them to all have contracted it. I let management know about the unsanitary conditions, and I was blamed for violating their policy in taking my dogs back to the kennel with the employee. Cathy did such a beautiful job with care and professionalism for my wheaten terrier. I cannot recommend this place highly enough

My two 10 month old active frenchies were needing to be watched for a week long trip we had planned. Previously we had sitters stop by our house with our older dogs, but these pups are so active and curious we felt boarding them was the best option for them at this time. I was really worried since they had never been there or stayed there, and didn't want any issues to come up while so far from home. The specific caretaker for them seemed to really love dogs and her job, and their energy didn't seem to overwhelm her. They seemed very happy when picking them up, and they weren't dragging me to my car but almost wanted to stay and play with the dogs they kept seeing in the parking lot. I usually help them out of my car, but when getting home they jumped down with a new confidence that could only come from experiencing new situations without stress. They seem to be the same pups they were prior to dropping them off, with exception of their slightly increased confidence with the world. There were no issues and they didn't mind me checking in. If I need similar care in the future I'll definitely use Idlewire again the future. read more

We had a last minute opportunity to take a tour of Hill Air Force Base & wanted to find a good day care arrangement for our very anxious 4yr old Australian Shepard rescue pup so we could enjoy the day w/o worrying about her (i.e., loud F-45's taking off and landing) . After much research we contacted Idlewire Pet Care to inquire about getting her in for a day, along w/ booking a bath & nail trim. Not surprisingly, they were 100% booked out for both services (the good ones usually are). A short time after speaking w/ Julie I got a call back saying they had an opening for the daycare portion. Yay! With her vaccination records in hand, a favorite toy, and treats we dropped our girl off. We explained her history & requested that she have no play time w/ other dogs (she had been attacked by another dog recently) and it was agreed she would be taken & played with by staff during the day instead. We dropped her off at 10am & picked her up at 5pm. From start to finish the entire experience was top-notch and professional. Our dog was safe, exposed to and interacted with by knowledgeable handlers. She actually was a bit more chill about being around new people when we brought her back that evening. Took my two dogs (Weimaraners) here for doggie daycare. They did so good. All the girls there are so nice and so wonderful. They were easy to talk to and they were honest with me. I was worried because my one weim get's anxious so easily. My other weim needs lots of play time and to get his energy out. After having a bad experience with another doggie daycare facility (Ruffeldale) I was worried to leave my dogs with anyone. Idlewire was fantastic. Both my pups were so tired when we got home. I boarded my two Boston terriers for a few days. When I returned from my trip to pick them up, they appeared to be subdued, which is unusual for them when I return from anywhere, even for 30 minutes. When we got home they gave me the "cold shoulder" for almost a week, which has never happened after a boarding session. To me it seemed that they were upset with me for leaving them there. The notes provided to me regarding feedings and walks that we paid extra for did not match the amount of food bags we provided. We had 2 days of food left when we measured enough for each day of their stay. I understand sometimes in new environments that stress can cause a loss of appetite however the sheets reported that they are all their food. Made me suspicious enough to not want to bring them back. read more

We left our dog Kylock for 2.5 weeks with Idlewire. We had recommendations from a close friend and I felt very good about leaving him with them. They took him in on super short notice which was awesome I really helpful! I called them upon our return and notified them that we would be by that day to pick him up and we had mentioned when we dropped him off that we would like him to be washed upon pick up. When I called them I asked if they could also trim his nails. They stated the groomers were out (it was Sunday, so I totally understood and told them it wasn't a problem.) I walked in and the first thing the girl said was "oh did they call you about his accident" I said "um no..." she preceded to tell me that he had injured his foot in a water bucket and it was bleeding a bit. I said it wasn't a problem at all that accidents happened. She brought him out to me and checked his paw and as she did I in fact saw that his nails were clipped. When we got home he was loving on me and jumping on my lap and giving me loves and I noticed blood all over my shirt. My husband and I examined his bleeding foot and it was from a quick being cut and it was bleeding right from the nail. I have never seen a quick cut so severely. I understand a bit because his nails are dark. The problem I have....I was told the groomers were out today. I was also told his injury was from a water bucket. I'm very upset I was lied to. I was completely agreeable and understood that the groomers were out and did not push the nail clipping further so his nails should not have been clipped by someone inexperienced. Another thing is he has lost a lot of weight and his ribs are showing. I know that animals get stressed when their owners leave and I hope and pray that's the reason and not that he was under fed. I will not be using Idlewire for boarding or grooming in the future. read more

I found this company in an effort to save money. I was traveling frequently from Seattle to Ogden twice a month, for four nights and five days each time. With kennels in Seattle costing $30-$50 a day I wondered if traveling with my dog and kenneling him in Ogden for two nights wouldn't save me a bunch of money with Idlewire's cheaper boarding. I was paying $150 each trip at my usual kennel. So imagine my surprise when I got a bill at Idlewire for... $150. Now, Idlewire is a 'nickel and dime you to death' type company. Social play with the dogs had an additional charge of over $5 for 20 minutes. I've never used a kennel that charged for that, and I booked one a day. I also indulged in a bath for him, but he doesn't require further grooming except nail clipping. But somehow a $23 a day for two days added to that came out to the exact same amount I usually spent for twice as long at his usual kennel, minus a bath and nail clipping add on. I still don't understand what happened. Was there a 'check out time' I didn't know about somewhere in the fine print? I picked him up at noon, maybe they charged me another day? It was hurtful and disappointing to say the least. Also, my dog MUST be bathed because my husband is allergic to him. I usually bathe him myself at home. If he's bathed once a week his dander stays down and my husband doesn't have his allergies act up. But if he does any longer between baths my husband breaks out in hives, red itchy eyes, a runny nose, and sneezing. I am no dog groomer, but I can slather shampoo on my dog and rinse it off again, as well as clip and grind down his nails. After spending, whatever exorbitant indulgence price, I was charged to do this for my dog my husband IMMEDIATELY broke down in a major allergy attack minutes after picking my dog up from grooming 'just minutes before we walked in'. I do not doubt they did SOMETHING to him in the way of grooming, as his doggie scent was almost completely absent. But if I get better results performing his bath myself as a non-professional than at a groomer? I have serious questions about the bath's quality. I have not contacted them about these complaints yet. I intend to, just haven't had the time. If I get around to it and there's a resolution I'll do an update and score 'problem resolution' as well. Otherwise, seems like a clean and well maintained business, hence the second star. read more

I had heard good things about this boarding facility I left my dogs for a week three are small dogs and one is medium breed dog but still a puppy considering the considering the price I'm extremely disappointed one of my dog's was soaked in urine that had dried when I went back to help them get the dogs all four dogs were in the same kennel while other dogs were in kennels individually the dog smelled so bad I had to drive home with the windows down in November to stand being in the car then I had to come home and bath all for dogs and they still have a strong odor on them one of my dogs has lost its lost a substantial amount of weight the kennel that they were kept in had no blankets or bedding of any kind it was a cement floor that was wet I can honestly say I haven't boarded my dog's a lot but I am sure there has got to be better levels of service than what I was able to get idlewire read more

We looked for pet boarding for our four dogs after we had such a bad experience in Brigham City with one boarder and the one in Perry was booked. We found Idlewire. We will use them from now on. We were able to schedule everything online and have immunization paperwork sent over so it was a super quick painless process when we arrived. The staff was very professional, respectful and gentle with our dogs. They had playtime options for the dogs while they were there which we've never been given. Playtime alone, with other dogs there or family time since we had four dogs. Apparently we hadn't brought enough dog food and when they were running low they called us to ask with options on how we'd like them to proceed. At the end we were emailed "Report cards" on how they were in many areas. Over all. Five stars. I'm not sure how they could have been better Thanks Idlewire. We'll be back without a doubt. read more

The first time I took one of my huskies here, the groomer did a GREAT job. I was so ecstatic to find a great groomer that could groom huskies! This was something I'd been looking for for such a long time! She was fluffy and no longer shedding and it lasted for a while. Fast forward 4 months. I took both of my huskies in this time and did not have a great experience. One of my huskies turned out OK... she definitely looks better but not the best groom I've seen. She's still loosing clumps of hair in some places. However, my other dog is shedding worse than she was before! She is complete molting and clumps of hair are just coming out in my hands. She looks lumpy and not at all like she did the first time I brought her. Also, she is still wet! Her stomach area is totally wet and her overall coat is still pretty damp. It looks to me like they ran out of time and didn't have time to brush or dry them completely. When I asked the girl about it, she said that's how they are supposed to look. I wish they would have just charged me more for their breed (I get it; huskies take forever!) rather than not grooming them completely. I ended up paying $100 for both dogs and then coming home to brush and vacuum them myself for another hour each. read more

We boarded our two big dogs at Idlewire for over a week while we went on honeymoon. It was great! We took a tour of the place first and the friendly staff answered all my questions. I didn't like the concrete kennels, but they were large and the two dogs could stay together. We paid for several extra play times and walks. I went there to look into maybe housing my husky there and there was only one or two nice ladies there. There was a guy there that completely ignored me when I had a question. I will NOT be coming back due to his ignorance. I would go back because of how nice those two ladies were but I think customer service should be equal all around. We started here with Cortana for boarding on short notice when she was just a puppy 3 years ago. They were wonderfully gentle, loving, and attentive to her and didn't mind my anxious "Mum" check in calls. We recently added a hound puppy into the mix this year. Hounds can be a bit anxious and stubborn about strangers but Bogey did well with the Idlewire crew during August boarding and grooming this past week. Bogey wasn't too certain about all of his grooming but the groomers and techs seem to be very patient. Knowing the techs will take time to give warmth and care to my fur kids keeps us coming back. The people here are genuinely nice. You can tell they are animal lovers. I was hesitant to leave my dog here. I felt like it would be as though I was putting him in solitary confinement. The cages for the dogs are about 3'x5' (eyeball estimate). They are taken out twice a day to go to the bathroom. You can pay extra for playtime. (I believe it was something like 15 minutes extra.) We boarded my cat there. They sent her home with a chart showing how much she had eaten during her stay. That was useful. They also keep cats in cages. But since the cat is anti-social, that was the better option. read more

Double Coated Dogs (huskies,afghan hound, shepard, samoyed - shedding/bathing. Most huskies shed their coats twice per year, once in the spring and again in the fall, but a few huskies shed only once annually, usually in the spring. In extremely warm climates (think desert or tropics) some huskies may shed continually.Your husky's serious seasonal sheds are called "blowing coat." It will look like all of your dog's undercoat is falling out at once, but the blow is actually caused by a new topcoat coming in and pushing the fluffy underfur out. It should take your husky about three weeks to finish blowing coat each shed. To keep your husky's fur neat (and save your furniture), groom daily during coat blows and at least weekly in between. A grooming rake is invaluable for getting the shed undercoat tufts off of your dog during blows -- a procedure best performed outside. read more

The groomer did an amazing job with my dog, and I have a rottweiler. He came back super happy and beautiful. But the girls who stationed the front desk were extremely rude. They wouldn't answer any of my questions. I walked around for a while and as I was headed out not even a "have a good day". Nothing. Very rude and poor customer service. read more

They have options you can add to your boarding such as extra one on one time with your pet , walking them and the cost is inexpensive to add that. Their groomers are the best!
