Service was excellent. Onion rings were excellent. Had the grilled ham and cheese. Bread was very good, could of used a bit more ham.

Great service! They cooked our sockeye salmon that we caught from the river and it was fantastic.

This is a long time staple in Soldatna for breakfast. I have been here 4 times and it's always crowded. Like so many places in this summer boom town, they just don't have enough staff. I ordered chicken fried steak which was from a frozen battered source. Salty stir fried broccoli, and cold mashed potatoes. Gravy was leftover sausage gravy from breakfast. No wonder there was only 1 other customer at noon read more

The Catch is a nice facility and comfortable. The service was very slow and it was hard to get a coffee refill for our breakfast order. The food was good, when it finally arrived. The staff was busy moving tables and chairs and making a lot of noise, probably why they were so slow serving us. Probably wont be back. read more

If the establishment is going to host professional events in the back room, please get theater curtains or sliding doors to block the noise from the bar/restaurant. Every time I have been to an event someone is losing their head and being very noisy. read more

8/10 Food was good , I got the chicken fried steak my fiancé got the shrimp basket & my toddler got the butter noodles. The best part was our drink it was the specialty of the day rum punch vibe but mainly cherry flavor. that was really good 10/10 also took a slice of carrot cake home , didn't disappoint overall good experience but would have liked more seafood options given the name. read more

I wish there was something positive about my experience here. I attempted to order ahead, but no one picked up the phone number listed on the website. We drove there anyway with plans to place a takeout order. We were greeted by waitress who said it was her first day, so she couldn't help us with a take out order (??) and to wait for a different waitress. We stood in the entryway for 5-7 minutes before someone else approached to help us despite it being about 1 hr prior to close and only one table with patrons and a handful of people at the bar. Turns out the menu on their website is out of date (and probably their phone number?) so what we had wanted to order was no longer on the menu. Fine. We ordered the saute dish (~$50) with a variety of seafood (halibut, salmon, scallop, shrimp) with a side of soup (there's soup of the day is the only option). We waited 30 minutes for the food, and then were told there a was a surcharge for paying with credit card. Really? For a nice, sit-down seafood restaurant, that seemed excessive. How did it taste, you ask? There were 3 dry scallops, a small portion of overcooked salmon, 4 overcooked shrimp, and halibut that was cooked well, but was over-salted. The soup was a ham and potato soup (no seafood) which was mediocre. The best part of the dish was probably the vegetables. The mashed potatoes were not very creamy, tasted like they came from a box. I don't enjoy giving 1 star reviews, and don't do it often because there is usually something that can redeem them. That, unfortunately, was not the case for this poorly crafted, very expensive dish from a restaurant with service that left much to be desired. read more

If you're looking for a solid diner experience, this is a good place to consider. Service was friendly and efficient. The food? Very good. The hash browns were some of best I've had in years. Very good breakfast at reasonable prices. We ordered 2 omelettes and the French toast. The servings were very large. The omelettes were excellent and were served with hashbrowns and toast. The French toast was quite large as well. I was not very hungry and I read it was 2 pieces of French toast ($8) so I thought it would be a small portion but I was wrong! The 2 slices were very big and cut in half so it was 4 pieces of French toast! I ended up sharing half of it with my son and husband. The omelettes were the stars of the show. At first glance with the obnoxious yellow building, it has a pretty chill atmosphere. Looks like the back room has entertainment in a stage. I went on a Sunday. It was relatively slow. Only 2 people there eating, and I ordered the peninsula burger. The fries were completely white. Like they just got warm and not cooked. The bread was overwhelming to the hamburgers. My plate looked like a 3-year-old was picking at it. I was just trying to get to the the meat of it.I guess no pun intended. Despite the attitude from the waitress and the very poor food, it was a pretty forgetful place. But that's how it goes. Oh one more thing. If you like carrots and olives in your ranch? To start, I don't mind expensive food if it is quality food. This food is mediocre at best. Our meal cost $150.00 for fettuccine Alfredo with 4 shrimp and the halibut. The halibut is supposed to be the best in town, it was seriously over cooked. It was so dry my wife sent it back. They did replace it with a properly cooked portion, thus the second star. When we were seated our waitress pointed out that there was egg on the table from breakfast, it was 4:30. Then no one came to wash the table. I had to clean it off myself. read more

The food was extremely overpriced. The salmon salad was soggy, practically swimming in water, and oddly had a piece of reindeer sausage hidden at the bottom. When we asked the waiter about it, she brought it up to her nose, sniffed it, and said, "Yup, that's reindeer sausage," before walking away without another word. read more

We were wandering Soldotna on the 4th of July and saw that The Catch was open for dinner. A halibut wrapped in bacon and two king salmon dinners and we were happy! It is hard to get veggies in Alaska. We enjoyed a nice salad before dinner AND had steamed brocoli with our dinners! The baked potatoes were perfect and my son reported "really good" french fries. Visited the Catch after a day of fishing in Kenai. We were looking for some seafood and saw that they had a seafood platter online so figured that was the place to go. We were seated almost immediately and were allowed to sit wherever. Because we already knew what we wanted, we told our waitress pretty quickly. The seafood platter contained scallops, salmon, halibut, and shrimp. They also give you a salad and a choice of side (baked potato, mashed potato, or rice I think were the options). We both got the mashed potatoes and waited for our food. The salad arrived first and left a lot to be desired. The dressing was good but the lettuce was just cut up iceberg and had no flavor so we barely ate it. The main course and mashed potatoes came together not too much longer after our salads. The mashed potatoes were okay, the gravy seemed like it was from a can and the potatoes tasted like they were microwaved. Overall it was fine. The fish was okay as well. The salmon tasted a little burnt so we didn't finish it but the halibut was my favorite part (they give you tartar sauce and it was the best part of the meal). The scallops were buttery and the shrimp was okay. Overall, I wouldn't order any of this again, but the price wasn't too bad ($60 for all of this). read more

I'm sorry; was quite disappointed. The food is overtly expensive and full of carbs. Every entree came with 2 giant slices of bread and overloaded fries......also, portion size of real food was small. This is a "Locals" diner, which is what made it so awesome, I didn't want to eat at a chain. Staff made me feel welcome the minute I walked in. The breakfast was exactly what I would expect from a hometown restaurant - hearty, filling, and delicious! Hash browns couldn't have been more perfect, just the right amount of crisp. read more

Our waitress was good but we ordered certain items ( shrimp baskets) which were a bunch of the small shrimp with fries but instead we got 4 huge shrimp ( which was fine don't get me wrong they were still good) but the waitress later told us that it was the chef's first time doing the larger shrimp that way ( so too much information on the waitress part since I didn't need to know that. She also told us that when we asked what the soup of the day was she said that the only one that they had was a beer soup and that it was "awful". ) So to say the least they we only stopped here since it was limited choices in the area for food. And that my mom found decent reviews on tripadviser We were tourist passing through the area on the way back to Anchorage. Oh and heads up is a little on the pricey side for the quality of food you get. Had the halibut sandwich for lunch today. The sandwich was good with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The service was disappointing. I was one of 5 tables for the 3 front of house staff I interacted with. The one who I took to be the manager asked if I needed a drink refill but then never brought it. My total was $36 for a sandwich, substituted onion rings, a single glass of water, and a 20% tip. I'd suggest dining at another spot, any other spot. Stayed at the hotel for a couple of days while fishing. The owner/ main hotel dude bragged about how great the new chef was and has amazing the food is, ya, not so much. My son and I decided to give it a shot, waste of money, and it wasn't cheap. We both had the 12oz prime rib, Saturday night special and there was nothing prime about this cut of meat, select at best. The cost was $37 per plate, I would have been happier at McDonald's. My son got a side salad, well basically some browning iceberg lettuce with 4 small sticks of celery 4 small sticks of carrots a chunk of tomato and a pile of black olives. We ate the food and it was okay, we'll we didn't get sick, but I'm sure Alaska has better options, and I'd strongly suggest seeking them out. I went there last night for dinner about 6 p.m. Order chicken fried steak dinner. The mashed potatoes were cold and looked like they were 2 days old, vegetables were cold and the gravy was runny as water. I had 2 drinks with dinner. I paid $47.72, for just my bill plus tip. Ate here for dinner tonight. Delicious salmon dip came with hot pita bread, a little bit of spice, but very mild. The burger was made to order and also incredibly good. We went to Soldotna, Alaska for a fishing trip for 2 weeks. We stayed at the Angler's Motel which was connected to the Catch Bar and Restaurant and owned by the same person. We had breakfast at the restaurant almost everyday and the food was good and consistent. We went to the bar after a day of fishing several times and the equally as good, so were the drinks. I would definitely eat there again and hang out af the bar too. read more
