Disclaimer: I am not a beer lover; in fact, I am a devout wino. However, I was there with three beer lovers and one person who will drink any beer put in front of her. The places was so crowded, celebrating Scottish New Year, that we spent too much time outside enduring ice cold wind. After awhile we found standing room inside. The beers that the group enjoyed ranged from very dark to very light. During the three hours we were there the tried many of the beers on tap. The consensus was that if you love craft beer this is the place to enjoy really good beer. There are a few negatives. There is not a lot of seating inside; however, there is more seating outside that should be comfortable on warm summer evenings. We stumbled upon Idol Beer Works by accident and we're glad we did. The beer was great and the atmosphere was chill. There were people playing dice and relaxing while enjoying a sampler of the brew. There was a food truck that had some new takes on oriental food. We enjoyed ourselves, the food and of course the beer. Went here on Friday (9/29) and Sunday (10/01) during the street faire after watching some football. Cool place with a nice set up especially with the tables in front. Be careful of the wood railings near the brewing area. I set my beer on it thinking it was like a table for your beer but it sloped and slid and spilled some of my beer :/ I tried the Session Training Wheels and the Smutty Fraulien Blonde Ale. Both were good but I definitely prefer the Blonde bc the Training Wheels was too light for me. They also offer Kombucha, which I feel shouldn't be allowed in a beer place but that's just me. Love this place! Such a nice place, friendly staff, and different food all the time. They have a good variety of staple beers, The Bruce being my favorite. This is my favorite brewery in Lodi to get a beer. The only thing that sucks is that they are closed Monday-Wednesday, when the other breweries are open. Also the website needs to be updated, says you're open everyday. Other than that, great place to grab a good brew and they often have food trucks catering. We were taking our time to order since it's been awhile to be out. A white male bartender looks impatient and kept asking what to order. He was rude and unwelcoming. After we get our orders, took our drinks and sat in the table near the counter. I observed the same white male bartender interacted with the majority white customers. The biggest disappointment is the very rude, annoyed, cocky male employee that was working. Our family was so turned off by this place, we had one drink and left. The breweries in SoCal serve liquor as well as beer. Our family is not familiar with the different types of beers. When asked a question the guy shrugged his shoulders and when asked if he has liquor, he laughed and said, no, what do you think this is? It's a brewery, we don't serve liquor. So, so rude. Then we asked him to give us something compared to another type of beer and shrugged his shoulders again. We were looking for a fun day downtown and didn't let you ruin it, but we definitely took our day of drinking and money elsewhere. read more

Excellent Customer Service, Beer tasting at its finest and affordable beer in a relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be back. My favorite is Training wheels and if you prefer non-alcoholic they have a kobucha pineapple ginger that is delightful to the palette. I am visiting on a Sunday afternoon and the Fully Dressed New Orleans Food Truck is parked outside with Southern Flair. The Music varies between Country and Blues to get you in the mood. Idol Beer Works has the best beer in Lodi! Staff is super friendly and the beers are fun and unique. I love the family and dog friendly atmosphere and that I can bring outside food to hang out. The best thing to get there to try the beers is a flight. Their ballistic leprechaun is one to try: had to get a 6oz glass on the side since it doesn't come on the flight, but man it was worth it! This is a nice brewery space with a large outdoor area. I'm thinking it would be 5 stars if I had visited during the summer given all the outdoor seating. But I went on a cold Friday night, and the indoor are was spacious, but the beers were fairly average I thought. The Christmas Ale was my favorite though by far. It's definitely a place worth trying as the beers were decent and might be great for different tastes than mine, that's the best thing about all these craft beer options :) read more
