Let me start by saying I purchased a beautiful car from CarMax, that I absolutely love. However,I…read morerecommend to never use their finance. I make payments over and above what my car payments are each month. Car max likes to reallocate the money to future payments, so what you anticipate going toward your principal balance goes into a virtual Neverland. You as the consumer, have to call every month to make sure that it is applied to the principal. It's maddening. I called on 12-6 to make sure my December payment was applied correctly. I called again today to find out it still had not been applied correctly. I was told by customer service, for the rep to tell me that the request was in the "que" and would be done when the accounting department can get to it. What kind of business operated finances this way. Like I said I love my car and will pay this car off as fast as I can to get out from underneath this flimflam operation.

I went to carmax after having an accident and needing a replacement vehicle. My salesperson was not…read morethe friendliest, but got the job done. There were no vehicles that fit my needs within my price range on the lot, but we located one in GA that was shipped to this location for me to pickup. I paid $250 for this to be shipped. When I came to pickup the vehicle, it smelled terrible. The previous owner had clearly smoked in it, and they sprayed it to cover up. I mentioned it to the salesperson and he replied "I just had it detailed this morning". I said it still smelled, and I was sent to the service area where I was told a gentleman would contact me and come to my home or work to do an ozone treatment to remove the smell. I was skeptical it would work, but figured, I'd give it a try. Over the next few days of driving the vehicle, I noticed it shook after about 70mph, pulled to the right, there was a "malfunction alert" light that came on while driving and the key did not open properly about half the time. (I was told to go to a Nissan dealer to have that addressed as there was a recall for that specific key). I returned the vehicle after 5 days. I never received a call from the person to treat the car for the smell and the problems while driving mounted. The sales manager, named Chris, was actually very friendly and the return process was easy. Unfortunately, I still feel like I was taken advantage of because I paid $250 for a vehicle to be shipped to me to purchase and the vehicle was definitely not in good condition. So, all in all, carmax has a great return policy, but Beware if you have to pay to have a car shipped to purchase because if there are any issues, you are out that money. It would be nice if they also stood behind their vehicle when it's clearly not what was expected to refund the shipping to the buyer.

We came in around 10am to look at a pre-owned Acura that was sadly sold that morning. We started…read morelooking around and found the perfect car for us. We were complimenting the sales manager for how smoothly they ran things around here, boy did I eat those words. When we settled on the car we wanted, we went through and signed all the necessary paperwork, I was nearly jumping out of my skin with excitement when we signed the paper allowing them to "post a photo shaking your hand in front of your new car." A little while later, we were met with extreme disappointment to find we needed a co-signer in order to be approved. I was hurt and a little annoyed that they went so far with the paperwork despite not knowing if we could actually take it. We got in our car, pulled to the other end of their lot, we made a few calls and found a co-signer. We were gone for less than 5 minutes. We pull back in, hopeful tears in my eyes, to give the information for our co-signer. They started processing it and we waited over an hour to hear an answer. I'm in disbelief when after all this time, I finally heard the word "yes". My mother is who was approved as the co-signer, they said they just needed her to come sign a paper and we are good to go! My mother is a care giver to my disabled step dad so she had to ensure everything was safe at home before she made the trip to help us get our car. After only 30mins of waiting on my mother, we were called into an office, at 3:30pm, to tell us they sold the car to someone else, who test drove it after us at 1pm. They said their company policy is "first come first serve" but I guess they mean "whoever can give us the money the fastest" because they will apparently sign papers and do financing for the same vehicle for multiple people at the same time. I cannot begin to express the disappointment, the heartbreak. I don't want to speak on my personal life and mental health, but simply, the mental burden this experience has been to me is unreal, but what's even more unreal is hearing the talk amongst the salesman that this is the SECOND time they've done this to someone THIS MONTH. To the salesman, Dan Defler and the new cars sales manager Nick Dampier, that robbed us of our vehicle and our incredibly kind, humble and patient salesman Malick of the commission he deserved, I mean this in the most disrespectful way possible, screw you.

I've been sitting in the waiting area for six hours waiting for them to do an oil change.read more
