We went there to celebrate July 4th so it was a bit packed.. but the service was quick as we had the option to sit at the bar. I loved the pomegranate cider beer, so refreshing and fruity! The presentation and quality was overall amazing, however I felt the Brussel sprouts could have used more lemon or acidity. First time here. It's popular! I was surprised waking in. Got the BIG pretzel. Yum - came with a sweet mustard sauce and a cheese sauce. Got the classic burger and asked for only 1 patty instead of the double smashed patti. It's PLENTY filling. Great burger too. I like how the bun held up even with the sauce smothering the burger. Had the S'more Cheesecake for dessert. Although it looks amazing, the marshmallow layer on top was way too thick and hard, so when we tried to cut into it, it smashed all the way down to the bottom. We had to use our steak knife to cut through it. I wouldn't get it again. Eating a totally smushed cheesecake wasn't good. One thing I didn't particularly like were the dogs. I guess they're allowed. A couple times one would bark real loud - scared me to death. It's just not my favorite thing to be eating amongst peoples dogs at a restaurant. Servers were great and food was brought out quick. Everytime we are in town we come with our group here and yesterday was supposed to be no exception. Had called in to see why the wait time was four our group 12 and someone on the phone said about 30 minutes which would be okay since my son is on the autism spectrum and we work around his needs. Decided to head over and upon arrival was told it would be at least an hour and a half. Asked the guy why the change if I had called about ten minutes earlier and his response was "we get busy." Gave him our information, went back to the group and came up with some stuff to do in the meantime. The part that was an issue was that we never actually got a call to come back in for our table or any type of notification as to why we were not ever provided seating. can't believe I still haven't gotten around to writing a review for this place. eating alone on a getaway writing weekend, I got the CLASSIC CHEESEBURGER (100% beef patty, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and mayonnaise) with fries. very tasty. another surprisingly good place to get a burger in Idyllwild. usually, I'm here with the pups and the wife-unit. dogs are allowed on the deck (max of 6 total at any one time). we have been steadily working our collective way through the menu. last visit the wife-unit had the IDYLLWILD IPA FISH and CHIPS (IPA battered wild cod, fries, spicy tarragon tartar sauce, lemon wedge, and coleslaw). fish and fries were hot and crispy and really hit the spot. I ordered the STEAK SALAD (sliced prime top sirloin, mixed greens, purple onions, candied pecans, crumbled blue cheese, and garlic infused olive oil). as good a steak salad I've ever had not in a Thai restaurant. when we stopped by another time, my good German wife had the BRATWURST on a Kaiser bun. it came with whole-grain mustard, sauerkraut and a side of Cole slaw. the sandwich got rave reviews. for a while, I regularly ordered a 1/2 dozen jumbo CHICKEN WINGS with Dirty Sticky BBQ Sauce mostly for the dogs. in my defense, that was before the vet scolded me for giving them cooked bones which she said puppies chew to splinters that are hard on GI tracts. expect to see us here whenever we spend the weekend or longer at the cabin. have had nothing but positive dining experiences. well curated beer menu and the view from the deck (where the outdoor seating is) is spectacular. read more

Idyllwild Brewpub is a gem tucked away in the mountains. It is the perfect post-hike reward or weekend escape spot. The ambiance is unbeatable! Hidden in the trees with a spacious outdoor patio and a stream running right alongside it. It feels like you're drinking beer in the middle of a forest and that's a big part of the charm. The beer selection is solid with something for everyone and their cocktail menu is also solid. I got the Strawberry Creek Forever and it was the perfect pick me up in the middle of the day. Food-wise, the portions are generous and satisfying. We go the pig skins for an appetizer and the Campfire burger. Both tasty and great. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5? Service can be a little slow, especially on busy weekends and the wait time to get a table can be really long too. Still, nothing that would keep me from coming back. Overall, it's a relaxed, mountain-town brewpub with good vibes, great beer, great cocktails, and a beautiful setting. Seriously, the Tres Leches is the star of the show! Light, creamy, and soaked just right. Rich without being heavy, sweet without being overwhelming, and topped with just the right amount of cream, cinnamon and caramel sauce . It's a must. We were really looking forward to dining at Idyllwild Brewpub, but unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. We were quoted about an hour wait for a table, which we were completely fine with. To pass the time, we went to the bar and asked if we could order fries for the kids while we waited. We were told no -- that if we wanted fries, we would need to request a table for one and order them there instead. This felt unnecessarily rigid, especially with kids. Once we were finally seated, no one greeted us or brought water for about 20 minutes. Our server stopped by briefly and said he'd be right with us, but then continued bussing tables and delivering food to other guests. When we politely asked him for water, his response was curt and unapologetic, saying someone would bring it. About 10 minutes later, one pitcher of water was brought out for seven people, and the kids' cups didn't have lids until I asked. At that point, we requested a manager. She apologized and explained that they were busy, which we understand -- especially since half of our group works in the service industry, including management and bartending. However, the way the situation was handled was disappointing. In front of us, she asked the server what happened and he simply said he was busy, with no apology or accountability. Management didn't attempt to problem-solve, take over the table, or reset the experience in any meaningful way. No portion of the meal or drinks was offered to be comped, despite the fact that we had already spent over $100 at the bar while waiting. The interaction also felt somewhat dismissive, and overall lacked the level of professionalism we would expect when addressing a guest concern. The frustrating part is that the food was delicious, the bartenders we had while waiting were fantastic, and the host was wonderful. This truly came down to poor service from one server and missed opportunities from management. A simple apology, better communication, or ownership would have made a huge difference. There's a lot of potential here, but management should work on problem-solving and guest recovery, because how issues are handled matters just as much as the food itself. read more

Just so everyone knows it CLOSES at 7:30 not 8 pm and if you show up at 7:37 they WILL ask you to leave. Wasn't greeted very kindly by the server, how were we supposed to know that the kitchen is closed a half hour before what is stated on the website. This is a hidden little gem on the edge of town. Super tasty pub food, and a fresh delish salad. Idyllwild IPA was my favorite beer taster! Burger is a YAY! Side salad is a YAY. I wish they would've tossed it though. The dressing was just kinda blobbed in the middle of a flat plate so it was hard to get it all dressed. I will say service was a bit lacking. Food came quick, but not much attentiveness from a server otherwise, so be sure you ask for everything you may need when you order. But it did seem they were a bit understaffed! My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant on 8/31 (Sunday). The food that we ordered (i.e., chicken wings, salad, fish & chips, craft beer) were good, and the service that we received was also fine, although it was a bit slow due to a busy long weekend. The reason that I gave this a 2-star was specifically related to the treatment we received when we checked in with the front desk. When we arrived the restaurant that day, we mentioned that it was a party of two and preferred to sit outside. As we inquired the potential wait time since we went without a rsvp in advance, the shorter and younger girl (note: there were 2 receptionists at the time) at the reception podium said it would be an hour. Although a bit surprised given the busy-but-not-that-busy crowd, we expressed the desire to be waitlisted. The girl said "ok" and tried to move on to other tasks, but we quickly asked if she would then require our name and phone number, which she said yes and reluctantly jotted down. From there, we went downstairs and planned to check out other shops nearby as we waited. Once again, I was surprised by receiving a text message 5 minutes later saying that my table was ready. I do not wish to jump to the conclusion that it was a discriminatory experience, but we genuinely couldn't figure out why we didn't appear to be welcomed by her. read more

Absolutely love the Brewpub and highly recommend it to all locals (if you somehow still haven't tried it) and all visitors of Idyllwild!! We came here after a hot hike as it was seemingly the only restaurant open on Wednesdays in town. We each enjoyed a flight of beers (mostly local brews)! We also enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and a pretzel - all was delicious. Overall the ambiance of the place is what makes it so great - there is ample seating available both indoors and outdoors, with some tables looking out over the woods. There are several TVs, a bar inside, and just overall a lot of space for large groups. The staff were all very friendly and made some good recommendations for beers! We enjoyed our flights and getting a chance to try some new beers. It was the perfect place to kick back after a hike, have something refreshing to drink and grab a few tasty bites! The creek behind the brewpub also has some walking paths along the water if you'd like to go for a post-brew walk. Will absolutely be coming back next time I'm in Idyllwild! read more

What can I say? I love this place up in the mountains. I was camping at the nearby Idylwild campground and it's a 10 minute walk from there. They have some really good sours and IPAs and it's a great atmosphere lots of people here visiting from the surrounding area, including palm desert. My family and I were excited to try this place out while visiting the city but we're stocked to find out how rude and micro aggressive they are. Not wanting to seat us. Their racist behavior towards us was unacceptable. We tried all days we were up there to be seated but still had the same issues happen to us. TWICE! Truthfully felt super unwelcome. We came into Idyllwild Brewpub pretty late at night and were welcomed by our server, Josie, who was honestly amazing from the start. We had a table with young kids, and she was so patient and kind with them, which we really appreciated. She checked in on us often without hovering and made sure everyone had what they needed. At one point she even noticed that our corner was getting cold and offered to turn on the heat--such a small thing, but it meant a lot and really showed how attentive she was.
