Middle Ridge Winery sits right in the heart of Idyllwild and feels like a perfect blend of wine tasting lounge, art gallery, and weekend hangout spot. This is actually my third time visiting, and it's consistently been our go to whenever we're in town. The space has both indoor and outdoor seating so you can choose between a cozy, rustic interior or a breezy patio setup that's perfect for people watching and soaking in the mountain town energy. On weekends, the place really comes alive with live music, adding that relaxed, social vibe without feeling too loud or overwhelming. There was a band playing during this visit, but I have to admit I'm a little biased toward the young guy who performed the last time my boyfriend and I were in town. He was soooo good! We were secretly hoping we'd catch him again, but oh well... it was still a fun time. What makes it even more unique is that it's not just about the wine because they also showcase and sell beautiful jewelry, art pieces, and locally inspired goods, which makes browsing just as enjoyable as the tasting itself. It feels curated, not cluttered. Overall, it's a laid back but elevated experience with equal parts wine bar, art space, and boutique right in the middle of town!

We stopped in for a glass of wine to pass some time, and I'm so glad we did. The space has a great vibe--unique artwork from local artists lines the walls, the inside is bright and open, and there's a spacious patio out back with live music and plenty of seating. We opted to stay inside to enjoy the cool air. I tried the Tempranillo, which was on the lighter side but still quite enjoyable. I also ordered the marinated olive plate with crackers, which was simple but absolutely delicious. The staff was professional and courteous, though a bit on the reserved side. Prices are slightly on the higher end, but overall, we had a really great experience. Definitely glad we stopped in!

You MUST stop by this place for a lovely experience. They provide wine tasting a lot of knowledge and abundant amount of artwork from local artists. Every time I stop by in this town I will be stopping here. Please take a chance and have one hell of an experience, thank you Chris! We were able to bring our pet with us and was greeted with treats as well.

Front of winery from the street. Can be difficult to locate if it's your first visit.

Tasting Flight: $20 for three 2 oz pours Not the easiest place to find unless you know what to look for. Sitting in the road in front of the winery, are a couple of white signs, with red lettering, stating "WINE, ART & LIVE MUSIC" and OPEN UNTIL 6 PM (& beyond). Huge front deck, with umbrella covered tables, overlooking the main street in downtown Idyllwild. Indoors is an art gallery, jewelry/curio shop, and several areas to sit and do some wine tasting. They also have a large back patio with umbrella covered tables, and live music. The day we were there, they had a guitarist performing James Taylor tunes. SERVICE: All of the folks working were pleasant, but it wasn't the wine tasting experience I was expecting. You opened a tab, or paid as you went. You got a list of wines to choose your selections, received a pour at the front desk/check out counter, and went on your way. No one was able to discuss the wines, where the fruit came from, production process, etc. The staff was too busy pouring wine and ringing up merchandise sales, to spend any time with the customers. WINES: I will preface this portion of the review by saying that my wife and I are wine snobs. There were 14 wines on the tasting menu (4 whites, 1 rosé, and 9 reds), as well as frozen wine slushies ($15). My wife and I each did a tasting, sharing so we could try 6 wines. Based on the tasting notes, we tried all reds, as the whites did not sound like they would be what we enjoy. Of the reds we tasted, nothing was terrible, but nothing was what we generally look for: big body, slightly heavier tannins, more complexity. Everything was perfectly drinkable, but unfortunately nothing pleased our palates enough to take a bottle home. They also have a small charcuterie menu with items such as a Warm Pretzel ($7), Herbed Mixed Olive Jubilee ($11), Meat & Cheese Charcuterie Box ($20), and a Fruit & Cheese Charcuterie Box ($18). Now, my wife and mother-in-law loved the jewelry, and ended up buying several pieces, and I enjoyed looking at the art. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't the "winery experience" I was looking for, rather than a cool place to just sit, relax, listen to music, taste some wines, and have a couple small bites. I'd stop in again, but my expectations would be much different next time.

Beautiful gallery and truly such a great spot to sit and listen to live music on a Sunday afternoon.

Walking up to the front, you immediately get cozy vibes from the A frame roof. There is a nice patio out front as well if you want to people watch. Going in, it's really unique with all the jewelry and art on display. We were greeted by really friendly staff that helped us through our tasting. There was live music going on the back patio. It's covered by parachutes, so even though it was a hot day, it was still comfortable. We took each each tasting sample outside to drink and came back in as needed. All the wines I tasted in the flight of 3 were quite good (fuller bodied reds). Unlike the other wine bars around, they produce their own from various spots in CA. With the solid wine, entertainment, dog friendly patios, and nice staff, this will be a stop every time we come to Idyllwild!

Chardonnay and the fruit and cheese plate. Comes with crackers.

The fruit and cheese plate is great. It could be a full meal if you want it to be. Or plenty for 2 to share as a snack with wine. I thought the wine was a bit pricy for a winery, but I guess I'm more used to wineries that offer samples and glasses for cheap so you'll take home bottles of wine. This is not that kind of winery. I do love the fact that they have live music. It can get pretty cold out when the weather gets chillier though, and the heat lamp situation isn't the best.

Loved our first visit to Middle Ridge Winery on a Friday afternoon! Their patio was welcoming to our party of 4 and our 3 dogs. There were a few other groups with dogs out there as well and couch and high top seating inside. We ordered a flight which is three, 2 oz pours if your choice of wine. The glass has a line to indicate the 2 oz so you know your getting at least that much! We enjoyed 2 whites and a red and ended up buying 3 bottles of their sweet Bodacious white wine. They had a but 3 get 10% off deal! They do flat rate shipping as well no matter the amount of bottles you order and they have discounts for members or by the case too! Service here was so great! Chris the owner was so friendly and patient with us as he walked us through the wine list. We definitely would patron this place again!

I was instantly at ease; this beautiful and casual wine spot is a marvelous respite in Idy. I love this town but even more so exploring places like Middle Ridge can make for an exceptional experience. Even if this is your only stop, and why wouldn't it be. The sundrenched patio might be amongst the best in the world. Service, knowledge, and culinary are top notch here.

    Timmy S.

On a nice day this is a great spot to sit out on their patio and enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine. Or you can do a tasting, picking three from their list of offerings. They have a few food plates to choose from as well. The interior has several tables for large parties to sit. You'll find a variety of art and jewelry created by local artists for purchase too. I had a glass of their tempranillo which I thought was quite good while my wife had a glass of cabernet sauvignon which I tried and thought was just okay. The atmosphere is all about putting life aside for awhile and just relaxing. And that's exactly what we did.

This is the cutest little place and everyone here, from the workers to the patrons, were exceptionally nice. I love a nice glass of wine every once in a while so I am not an expert, but I did a sampler and trusted every recommendation. Also they have live music which was also amazing. Will definitely make this a place to visit when in Idyllwild.

Valet parking is available for $10. WINE & FOOD: Vanessa poured for us and was an excellent host and wine educator. She greeted us with a complimentary pour of their 2024 Walt Rosé of Pinot Noir before delving into our wine background, experience, and explaining the various flights. She took the time to get to know us and made excellent recommendations. My wife and I shared the L'Amour de Blancs flight ($29), the Elegant Expressions flight ($59), and the Taste of Terroir flight ($99). Each flight consisted of three generous pours, and as we went through, Vanessa even poured a few extra Pinot Noirs she knew we'd enjoy. The wines are extremely well-made and quite elegant, offering a good balance of acidity, tannins, and flavors. Along with the wines, we also tried several items off their Savory Bites menu: Marinated Olives & Nuts ($10), Soppressata Croquettes ($15), Wild Mushroom Pâté & Black Truffle ($18), and the Duck Confit Crostini ($18). Everything was delicious and for those who might be unsure, the menu offers wine paring suggestions so you can't go wrong. We had an excellent, leisurely experience and enjoyed it so much, that we became members. Membership offers discounts on wine, food, and merchandise, and even a discount at the fine dining restaurant located on the second floor of the hotel.
