We were guests at the resort, and upon seeing their reasonable pricing in addition to receiving drink coupons, we decided to give it a try. They were able to substitute iced tea for the free alcoholic drink (with purchase of entree), and they had a cider option included. They don't charge extra to switch out fries for onion rings which isn't common amongst restaurants nowadays. And the onion rings were really fresh and good. Overall, all of our meals tasted great and it was a great option to have at the retreat. We sat out in the back patio since we had a dog with us, and thank god they had heaters because it was cold at night. Our only complaint was that the food took over 20 minutes to come out after ordering, and they said they were backed up by one large party.

Grade service. The lady brought out everything for us. Both of us did the breakfast deal and what a good amount of food and delicious. We sat outside facing the trees and loved it. Ample parking right in front of the restaurant.

Because it was Valentine's Day we were only able to order from the menu pictured Kerri had the salmon and she said the fish was cooked perfectly and tasty My chicken was stuffed with cheese and spinach topped with grilled dates and micro sprouts Service was ok Mostly pine wood on the walls and ceiling so a rustic type of feel

I was SO excited to dine here. The atmosphere is everything. You get to enjoy good food, surrounded by nature. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during the winter. The food was delicious. Slow to get to the table, though. And there is an extra charge for everything, including 1 slice of tomato in the kids burger. Our waitress was ok. She was very nice and friendly, but she didn't come to check on our table. We asked for the heater to be turned on. She said she'd get help from the manager, then never came back.

I love this restaurant! They have amazing drinks and the food is superb! The staff is so great & friendly! I recommend sitting outside in the back. Such a gorgeous place. You're outside in the forest, eating amazing food, and having the best cocktails (Blue Smoke is excellent )the best cocktails, who could ask for more? I highly recommend this place! There are not enough stars to emphasize how excellent it really is!

Such an amazing restaurant within the pines. Food is delicious and service is great. They even had live music on a Thursday night! The Peak doesn't disappoint!

We stayed at Tahquitz Pines Retreat and were given two vouchers for wine and beer, so we decided to try this restaurant out. There was no wait when we came on Saturday at around 5pm. The ambiance inside was warm and cozy, somewhat dimly lit and perfect for a dinner for two. We ordered the shrimp corn chowder, the lemon caper chicken, and the kona burger. The shrimp and corn chowder was our absolute favorite, one of the best chowders we've had. We also really liked the kona burger, which is like a teriyaki char burger from The Habit if you've ever had one! This one was better. I will say that the beef patty could've been seasoned a bit more and could have been juicier, but the sauce was great to pair with the burger. Our least favorite thing was the lemon caper chicken, specifically the chicken itself. Although it was cooked well, it didn't taste too special, and the lemon sauce was a little bitter (probably from using too much of the lemon rind/whites). But overall the dish was enjoyable. We finished all of our food along with two glasses of their house wines, which were solid. All of the food came out within about 15-20 minutes and the servers were incredibly sweet. Overall if you're staying at Tahquitz Pines, I'd highly recommend at least stopping here to redeem your vouchers, or if you're staying in Idyllwild!

Revisited and had a wonderful lunch. The menu is much larger and options were plentiful. The seasonal meatloaf was decadent -- one of the best meals I've eaten in Idyllwild! Staff was great and restaurant was bustling. Will be back on our next visit to Idy!

The Peak is a casual and comfortable restaurant located inside The Tahquitz Pines resort. The food is very good, the staff is kind and quick. I had the Mahi fish tacos, which were huge and very flavorful. We came back the following night for dinner and had the Tuscan Chicken sandwich and Brussels Sprouts. The Brussels Sprouts were delicious! The beer is served very cold and priced reasonably. I would come here again...after all I already went two nights in a row.

Our server told us this place had opened just about a year ago so I wanted to be sure to write about my positive experience. Me and my boyfriend had dinner reservations here on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant is attached to a hotel/lodging site. The inside is nice and modern and we opted to sit outside with the nice view of the trees. Be warned though! evening time in the spring/summer has the mosquitoes out so wear bug spray or cover up to enjoy the nice evenings outside. Our server, Alex, was a pleasure and very accommodating. For dinner I got the orange chicken which I was on the fence about but glad I ordered because I really enjoyed the saki-infused sauce they make. My boyfriend got the chicken tenders which were plentiful and delicious with a side of crunchy onion rings. Both of our meals were 10/10. I also ordered the blood orange cider they offer and that was quite refreshing and not too sweet. Lastly for dessert we enjoyed their fried ice cream which was crunchy and delicious. I highly recommend stopping by here if you're new to visiting Idyllwild or returning looking for a newer spot!

Came in after lunch and before dinner. So not super busy but service was still top tier. We googled to find somewhere new to eat and so happy we picked The Peak. The ambiance on the back patio is relaxing and peaceful you feel a little emerged in nature. I got the shrimp and corn chowder and not only did it have a beautiful presentation the flavor was very good. Can't wait to try different dishes in the future.

Came up for a family wedding and decided to stay at the Peak Resort. The restaurant was very elegant and woodsy at the same time. The waitress was very attentive as she seemed to be new. We ordered the Coconut Shrimp which was very good. Then we had the Alfredo Pasta with Chicken and the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Onion rings. All the food was very good, freshly tasting and good portions. Be aware that pricing is a little high but well worth it when it comes to flavor, ambience and service. I do recommend the resort and the restaurant as they hit all the high marks.

We added our name to the Yelp waitlist before arriving, but when we checked in with the hostess, she seemed surprised and said they didn't have a waitlist. A little confusing start. The atmosphere felt a bit stark--more like a warehouse than a cozy, inviting restaurant, with little warmth or décor to set the mood. Service overall was just okay, though it took quite a while to get our check at the end. As for the food, it was decent--flavorful but on the salty side, and overall reminded me of a standard cafeteria meal. The salmon dish itself was tasty, but it came with--no exaggeration--what looked like just a single teaspoon of mashed potatoes on the side. The squash was plentiful, but tasteless. For the price and presentation, I was definitely expecting a more generous portion. With all the glowing recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting something more memorable.

Some chilaquiles that were mixed with beans and green sauce. I only ate the eggs.

We came here for my birthday dinner and left feeling disappointed…read more To start with the positives, the market table was actually very good. The sides, salads, hot dishes, and meats available there were fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The meats we did receive tableside were also tasty. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not live up to expectations. Despite the restaurant not being busy, service was slow and inattentive. Dirty plates sat on our table for extended periods before being cleared, and we often felt overlooked. There were also flies inside the restaurant, and at one point my son had to kill one near our table. One of the biggest disappointments was the meat service itself. The restaurant advertises a wide variety of meats, but during our meal I don't believe we were offered even 10 different cuts. Some selections were described as things like "baby cow" rather than identifying the actual cut of meat, which was odd and made it difficult to know what was being served. Since we were celebrating my birthday, I was also disappointed that the staff completely forgot about it until I reminded them. The final frustration came when the bill arrived. We were charged for the higher churrasco option than what we had actually ordered. The mistake was corrected after I pointed it out, but customers should not have to catch billing errors themselves. What makes all of this more frustrating is that gratuity was automatically added to the bill. When a restaurant includes automatic gratuity, I expect attentive service, accurate billing, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. The food was generally good, especially the market table, but the combination of limited meat service, slow attention from staff, flies in the dining room, a forgotten birthday, and an incorrect bill left us disappointed. I wanted this to be a special birthday dinner, and it simply fell short.

$18.03 Gazpacho w. tax. Hard pass. Restaurant, yes, I'd go again, just not that dish…read more The gazpacho had a structural and ingredient imbalance. A classic gazpacho relies on an emulsion where sweetness, water content, and acid combine to find an exact equilibrium. Here the tang was very forward and overpowering. The tomato deficit was the first issue. There was no sweetness, no umami. The tomatoes didn't seem truly ripe, and the soup lost its primary source of natural sugars. Unripe tomatoes are high in malic acid and low in sugar, meaning they don't provide the sweet counterweight needed to soften vinegar. That imbalance left the acid in the soup, aggressive. Also, the flavor of the tomato makes one wonder if there was possibly canned tomato juice in use. Then there's a missing cucumber component. The menu referenced "cucumber essence". Cucumbers, amongst other properties, would bring a crisp freshness on the palate. It acts as a natural diluent and with its water content to help mellow the concentration of the vinegar. A few cubes of cucumber would have benefited the dish tremendously. In researching the pepper choice, I found out that it also worked against the balance. While red bell peppers provide a deeper, earthier sweetness that supports ripe tomatoes, yellow peppers are brighter, thinner-skinned, and more citrus-forward. In an already highly acidic base, those amplify the sharp notes rather than grounding them. As for the protein, there may have been an ounce of lobster in the soup. Lobster is sweet, rich, and delicate. But because the gazpacho base leaned aggressively tart and sharp, it was completely drowned out. Instead of tasting luxurious and sweet, the harsh acid flattened it. For this soup to work, it should begin with fully matured, vine-ripened tomatoes, hand-selected and pressed to extract their pure essence. Sieved, free of pulp and seeds, the tomato broth delivers savory umami balanced with bright acidity, subtle sweetness, and the fresh aroma of the vine. With the remaining ingredients added, the gazpacho base transforms into something rich and seemingly weightless, yet complex, vibrant, alive, and intensely fresh. Unfortunately, this recipe missed on all marks. When I walked in the door, I was greeted as a party of one and directed to the bar outside. At that time, a table wasn't presented as an option. At the bar there was a seat hanging off the end, sadly anchored there. Instead, I went back and asked to sit at an open two-top just outside, across from the bar in a corner. There I sat and watched as the crew moved through service. After a few minutes of sitting at an empty table without being noticed, and without a menu or water, I started my timer and looked up, trying to catch someone's eye. After five minutes, I was noticed. The server, once I was finally noticed, was outstanding. Within four minutes, my server took my order and brought me a setup, bread and a bowl of soup. The bread was warm. The butter was cold. The soup bowl was chilled. Oh, in the outside patio area, there are ducts for the AC, but there are definitely areas where the chilly wind don't blow. If you sit outside and are sensitive to heat, choose wisely.
