The best views , the best food , best happy hour, the best service . Our go to place to bring guests as we find peace in our mountain escape . Weekly music as well and that fun!

Great service and great views. Just stopped in for a quick drink and appetizer! The drinks were okay, nothing to write home about. We just got onion rings that were nice and crispy and we also got the zucchini flower that was unfortunately cold in the middle and pretty bland, but the sauce it came with was great. Think we'll try again for dinner time.

We were guests at the resort, and upon seeing their reasonable pricing in addition to receiving drink coupons, we decided to give it a try. They were able to substitute iced tea for the free alcoholic drink (with purchase of entree), and they had a cider option included. They don't charge extra to switch out fries for onion rings which isn't common amongst restaurants nowadays. And the onion rings were really fresh and good. Overall, all of our meals tasted great and it was a great option to have at the retreat. We sat out in the back patio since we had a dog with us, and thank god they had heaters because it was cold at night. Our only complaint was that the food took over 20 minutes to come out after ordering, and they said they were backed up by one large party.

Grade service. The lady brought out everything for us. Both of us did the breakfast deal and what a good amount of food and delicious. We sat outside facing the trees and loved it. Ample parking right in front of the restaurant.

Because it was Valentine's Day we were only able to order from the menu pictured Kerri had the salmon and she said the fish was cooked perfectly and tasty My chicken was stuffed with cheese and spinach topped with grilled dates and micro sprouts Service was ok Mostly pine wood on the walls and ceiling so a rustic type of feel

I was SO excited to dine here. The atmosphere is everything. You get to enjoy good food, surrounded by nature. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during the winter. The food was delicious. Slow to get to the table, though. And there is an extra charge for everything, including 1 slice of tomato in the kids burger. Our waitress was ok. She was very nice and friendly, but she didn't come to check on our table. We asked for the heater to be turned on. She said she'd get help from the manager, then never came back.

I went to dinner on Friday, August 7th and I want to start by saying that I genuinely did love the dinner and the service was very pleasant. The issue came when my sister and I went to use the restroom while our friend stayed behind to watch our food before we planned to head home. At some point, he had a restroom emergency and went to go use it after my sister finished before me. When I went out to meet her at the car, I realized that my steak was missing from the leftovers and went back inside to look for it. After being told that my food had likely been thrown out, I was devastated but too timid for confrontation so I reluctantly left empty handed. I asked my sister what had happened and she mentioned that she didn't see my leftover box and only saw her's and our friend's leftovers at the table. I also want to note that my sister and my friend were the only ones to get bags for their boxes and I didn't receive one for my box, incase that adds extra context. I feel upset because I was only able to have less than half of my steak before I began to feel full and I don't feel I got my money's worth which was also upsetting because I only like to treat myself on special occasions. I genuinely loved the steak and I was looking forward to having leftovers the next day.

Such an amazing restaurant within the pines. Food is delicious and service is great. They even had live music on a Thursday night! The Peak doesn't disappoint!

Revisited and had a wonderful lunch. The menu is much larger and options were plentiful. The seasonal meatloaf was decadent -- one of the best meals I've eaten in Idyllwild! Staff was great and restaurant was bustling. Will be back on our next visit to Idy!

The Peak is a casual and comfortable restaurant located inside The Tahquitz Pines resort. The food is very good, the staff is kind and quick. I had the Mahi fish tacos, which were huge and very flavorful. We came back the following night for dinner and had the Tuscan Chicken sandwich and Brussels Sprouts. The Brussels Sprouts were delicious! The beer is served very cold and priced reasonably. I would come here again...after all I already went two nights in a row.

Our server told us this place had opened just about a year ago so I wanted to be sure to write about my positive experience. Me and my boyfriend had dinner reservations here on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant is attached to a hotel/lodging site. The inside is nice and modern and we opted to sit outside with the nice view of the trees. Be warned though! evening time in the spring/summer has the mosquitoes out so wear bug spray or cover up to enjoy the nice evenings outside. Our server, Alex, was a pleasure and very accommodating. For dinner I got the orange chicken which I was on the fence about but glad I ordered because I really enjoyed the saki-infused sauce they make. My boyfriend got the chicken tenders which were plentiful and delicious with a side of crunchy onion rings. Both of our meals were 10/10. I also ordered the blood orange cider they offer and that was quite refreshing and not too sweet. Lastly for dessert we enjoyed their fried ice cream which was crunchy and delicious. I highly recommend stopping by here if you're new to visiting Idyllwild or returning looking for a newer spot!

We stayed at Tahquitz Pines Retreat and were given two vouchers for wine and beer, so we decided to try this restaurant out. There was no wait when we came on Saturday at around 5pm. The ambiance inside was warm and cozy, somewhat dimly lit and perfect for a dinner for two. We ordered the shrimp corn chowder, the lemon caper chicken, and the kona burger. The shrimp and corn chowder was our absolute favorite, one of the best chowders we've had. We also really liked the kona burger, which is like a teriyaki char burger from The Habit if you've ever had one! This one was better. I will say that the beef patty could've been seasoned a bit more and could have been juicier, but the sauce was great to pair with the burger. Our least favorite thing was the lemon caper chicken, specifically the chicken itself. Although it was cooked well, it didn't taste too special, and the lemon sauce was a little bitter (probably from using too much of the lemon rind/whites). But overall the dish was enjoyable. We finished all of our food along with two glasses of their house wines, which were solid. All of the food came out within about 15-20 minutes and the servers were incredibly sweet. Overall if you're staying at Tahquitz Pines, I'd highly recommend at least stopping here to redeem your vouchers, or if you're staying in Idyllwild!

Came in after lunch and before dinner. So not super busy but service was still top tier. We googled to find somewhere new to eat and so happy we picked The Peak. The ambiance on the back patio is relaxing and peaceful you feel a little emerged in nature. I got the shrimp and corn chowder and not only did it have a beautiful presentation the flavor was very good. Can't wait to try different dishes in the future.

Since we didn't have reservations, we were seated at the bar, which ended up being a blessing in disguise. Our bartender and server, I believe her name was Katie, was outstanding. She was friendly, attentive, and made the entire experience even more enjoyable. We started with a couple of glasses of wine and the Insalata Burrata with heirloom tomatoes, fresh burrata, basil, olive oil, prosecco vinegar, local microgreens, Maldon salt, and freshly ground black pepper. It was incredibly fresh, beautifully balanced, and the perfect way to begin the meal. For our entrées, we ordered the Lasagne di Verdure with seasonal vegetables, house-made ricotta, mozzarella, marinara, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The house-made ricotta was absolutely incredible and elevated the entire dish, making it an easy favorite. We also shared the Salame e Funghi pizza with San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and mushrooms. The thin, wood-fired crust had the perfect texture, and the pizza easily rivaled--if not surpassed--many restaurants that specialize in pizza. To finish the evening, we couldn't pass on the Torta di Nocciole, a flourless hazelnut cake served with vanilla gelato, a drizzle of local raw honey, and freshly grated nutmeg. It was the perfect ending to an outstanding meal--rich, balanced, and absolutely delicious. From the exceptional service to the thoughtfully prepared food, every part of our visit exceeded our expectations. We only wish there were a location closer to home. We'll definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later. Thank you for an unforgettable meal and outstanding hospitality!

Finally, it'd time to give it a try. There's a parking lot behind the pub but the main entrance is around the front area. There's a sign posted to where the parking is. You have a little steep driveway down to the parking lot. I don't think there's an entrance from the back so I wouldn't know how you would enter if you parked in the back. There's a fairly decent amount of parking and to our surprise, they even had a little nature trail along it. Anyways... The front entrance has a good amount of stairs up that will lead you to the pub. Quite an entrance I must say but once you reach the top, it's pretty much an open feel. Majority of the place is out in the open. Some seating inside but everything is pretty much outdoor. Nice little sections off the balcony and then you have the whole bar counter that just looks out to the parking lot and nature. I love that concept. Also, they offer food which is a good addition. Most breweries offer food but it's your basics items while this place has a lot of things to choose from. Of course theres beer on tap, wines as well as specialties cocktails. A good selections of items to choose from. We went with their cider which was perfect for the heatwave as it was nice and crisp. Goes down easily which isn't a good thing... lol... Food/snacks, we went with their jalapeños poppers which came with ranch dipping and a jam spread. That was a first time having it with jam and let me say, it worked. Poppers were really good stuffed with the cream cheese and a nice golden deep fried crunch. Highly recommend. And the pretzel. That came with the single or double. Go with double as it's worth the valve, a few dollars difference. That came with cheese sauce, and two different mustard dip. Pretty good starters as well as the cider. The food menu was quite good with what we had but looking at what others ordered, everything looked delicious. The place was great and the open concept looking out to nature was major. It's also very pet friendly as there were loads of fur babies out and about. On either side of the place, there's outdoor balconies that look out to nature as well but I think the main bar counter as you walk in takes the cakes. Finally trying this place out and I would say it's totally worth it. Service was amazing and all the staffs were excellent. Drinks and food were delicious. Would definitely be back next time .

It was their unique burgers that caught our eye so we decided to come in and see what's good. The first thing I noticed is that their prices seem a bit pricey for a burger and fries but all the prices here in Idyllwild are elevated so these prices are in alignment with other restaurants. And for me as the prices get higher so does my scrutiny of the food and overall experience. My reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is price vs amount of food you get - and the fact that they charge $5 for a Dr. Pepper. That's a bit obscene in my books, so 3 stars. Now the details... I was gonna get a pastrami burger ($20.99) until I noticed the Bacon Lovers ($19.99) and I'm a huge bacon lover and this is the first time I've ever seen a bacon lovers burger so I had to go with it. It is a juicy beef patty stuffed with bacon bits & topped with American cheese, more bacon and 1000 island dressing served on a brioche bun. They cooked it to a perfect med rare and it was really good. It comes with your choice of side (fries, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans or garlic mashed potato's. You can upgrade to fried pickes, zucchini, sweet potato fries, onion rings or corn nuggets for $2.50 and our waitress was raving about the beer battered onion rings so I chose those. The burger was great and so were the onion rings, however as you can see from the picture, there were not many onion rings AT ALL. I don't mind a $2.50 upgrade charge but give me some onion rings PLEASE!! Not happy about the quantity fr that upcharge! My girlfriend got the Wild Western burger ($20.99) which is a juicy beef patty topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce & onion rings. She didn't really like it much. She also upgraded to fried zucchini and she didn't much care for those either. It seems like there are good things here and some not great things here. If there is something ypu want to try here, I would go through the reviews and see what people are saying about it. Again, I feel like I got taken advantage of with that up charge on the 6 onion rings they gave me, but they did deliver on how good they are. I would recommend doing your research before ordering here.

It was very crowded everywhere else we tried to walk into other places just for a glass of wine and maybe some appetizers but no luck we kept looking and found this place at Idyll-Awhile Bistro. We walked in. Nobody was really there except us and maybe four other people, bar was empty. We waited a while. We weren't even greeted until like 20 minutes later after we arrived. Finally, somebody brought us some water. About 10 minutes later we were able to order some wine. We were watching people come in and it seemed like people that were known to the owner were greeted right away and served right away and we noticed customers walking in and seated were looking around for menus and service , they were looking like what's going on .?? Owner/server seem to be running around outside and inside, not attentive at all to any of us unless she knew or was familiar with customers that walked in. Finally our wine came and noticed bubbles on my friends glass of wine and thought Why??we didn't attempt to ask because that would have been another many minutes to address our concern . We just kept sitting there watching everything go down. It got very busy. I finally got up to pay the bill. I waited at the counter for at least 10 minutes while I watched her cash out other people other than me and then when I was ready to cash out, I gave her my card and she rudely said your card's not working And she tried swiping it and tapping it and again she said your cards not working she turned to my friend that was with me and said do you have another card very abruptly and rude and I was so embarrassed cause she said it's so loud apparently they don't Accept Discover and that's the card that I had but she didn't tell me why so we paid left there with the most disappointing visit I've ever had in my lifetime. I will never go back there again. Apparently she doesn't care about return customers of the way she was treating us and other people. She was very rude, abrupt, and matter of fact, no smile, no thank you hopefully she has better days.

There's a few cute little spots in Idyllwild and this is one of them. I've walked by it a few times…read moreand had a peeked inside and went on about my day. The last visit we were here, one of the locals mentioned wine tasting here. There's another tasting room that we would frequent as we've been to it numerous amounts of time. Now we know about this place . There's a couple of tables outside but the main room inside is the vibe. Of course you see the tasting counter right when you walk in and the mid century furniture on full display. It was mellow when we arrived with a couple on the patio and another at the bar area. The lady working was the sweetest and very friendly and welcoming. Nice person to talk to. It's also pet friendly which is great. Loads of wine to choose from as you would expect. There's one main wall which displays the wines like a decor wall and retail I believe. What they had on the menu all looked quite nice but with it being hot, a nice cold glass of rose is alway a good choice. Also where it's located right in the heart of the square with the Mountain View. Million dollar view with a nice glass of wine. The rose that we went with had a nice crisp to it. Not overly sweet but great. Perfect for a daily refresher. The place isn't that big with the inside as the main tasting room. There's a few tables along the patio, then you have the bar counter with a couple of seating. The rest of the place is a whole major vibe. Their color choices and fun furniture brings everything together. Let's not forget the wine as it's the main attractions. Finally trying this place out, it was great. A good recommendation from a local is alway a plus whenever you're visiting somewhere. Idyllwild is cute, not too big but what they have tucked in town are major gems. Wine was great and the place was cute. Will definitely be back again.

There was a nice wine selection and I had a glass of champagne and my husband had a cider. They were playing some fun music and the vibe overall was very relaxing. This is a great place. If you wanna just hang out for a little bit and slow down with a nice drink.

We chose Cafe Aroma for a birthday dinner and were so happy we did!…read more The bread with garlic in olive oil was a perfect light starter. My husband also enjoyed an old fashioned that was excellent. For dinner he husband ordered the ragu, and I had the penne in creamy basil (without shrimp). Both dishes came out quickly, were well prepared, and completely satisfying. Service was extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We reserved the patio so we could bring our pup, and the staff immediately offered her water, pets, and even a treat. I always appreciate a restaurant that makes dogs feel welcome rather than like an inconvenience. The patio also had a lovely ambiance, with white tablecloths and the same polished table settings as indoors. My only minor note was the live music. The singer was fairly loud and close to the tables, which made conversation difficult. Instrumental music might fit the early dinner atmosphere a little better. If you prefer a quieter meal, dining indoors may be the better choice. Overall, a great birthday dinner and a wonderful experience!

I read a bunch of the 1-star reviews. I read some of the…read more4-star reviews. I have to go with 5-star tho. OVERVIEW of 5 : Seated without reservation (*make one! We got lucky*) Server was amazing Food expediter was super nice Food was delicious Elegant, fine dining experience Music was my mountain playlist (and not too loud) View of mountains for me. View of architecture for my wife. PARKING: Parking can be difficult in the small lot, but there's parking along the street too. INSIDE: It was perfect weather. 68ºF at 6pm after a warm day. They have "indoor/patio" style seating which may be difficult for some to access by multiple steps. We were seated at the top, a table away from the music, along the window side. They have heat lamps - but temps were perfect (lots of people and hot food warmed everyone up). I wanted to walk around the restaurant. The tiered architecture is interesting. FOOD: High End Vegan! Yes - I'm guilty of wanting to give them 5 stars just looking at their vegan menu. (And omnivore selection) Yes - I appreciate the care that it takes to prepare a plate. BUT This food was just delicious by itself. Even in a cardboard box, this food would've been amazing. VEGAN "cheese" appetizer (great for 2-3 people) Nut cheese was warm and tangy. This is NOT just cashews and nooch in a blender. It is spiced with something that brings a little heat. *you will want to lick the bowl. PRO TIP: The welcome bread with ... oh shit.... WELCOME BREAD / Garlic Olive Oil This crusty bread served with microplaned garlic + olive oil is fantastic. Garlic Fiend? You're gonna love this. Not a fan of garlic? What's wrong with you?! I mean... just serve from the oil side. Save some bread for your vegan cheese.... VEGAN CHEESE (cont.) Order the gluten free bread (a little more like Uti's toasted dinner roll) with your vegan cheese app. Omnivores at your table will be surprised how well this vegan cheese and wine pair with each other. TROUT I think my wife got the trout. She loved it. Light and delicate. VEGAN KIMCHI TOFU I've had kimchi. I've had tofu. We all have. This was prepared on a bed of roasty veg that was a great match to the salty kimchi. I don't know if there was a marinade preparation (sesame paste?) with the tofu, or it was made locally, or both, but this firm tofu was excellent. Sweet. Nutty. Salty. Fresh tasting and filling. The vegan menu here isn't just an "alternate version" of an omnivore dish. It is its own thing. DESSERT MISTAKE = not getting it. We thought there would be dessert in town, but we got out late. Town had closed. MUSIC Tonight's music was a pair of musicians playing CS&N, Neil Young, Bob Seger... acoustic session: Guitar, Violin, Mandolin. Quiet & sentimental performance was a perfect accompaniment to a long hike day. THERE ARE 1-STAR REVIEWS of this place. They have their reasons. I've only been here once. But I experienced NONE of the things they've mentioned. Moreover, we experienced even better than what other 5-star reviews suggested. This is an elegant spot, framed by a perfect day in Idyllwild. If I come back to the town, I will want to try other restaurants, but I'll definitely come back here. Not *just* because of their vegan options, but definitely *for* their vegan options.
