Be really clear on what you get with these people. When they talk about flight time, it is literally ONE MINUTE per "flight". We naïvely purchased 4 "flights" each for 2 people, thinking we would spend a good amount of time in the activity. WE LITERALLY WERE IN THE AIR FOR A TOTAL OF 4 MINUTES. The cost? $309. To add insult to injury, we paid for a "high flight", also for 2 people, which was another $40. So we spent $350 for 4 minutes of "flying". time. It's obscene. They tell you that you'll be there for 90 minutes, including the "training" time, so you assume you're getting reasonable time in the activity. You're also required to arrive 20 minutes in advance. So imagine if you only purchased one flight, you are there for 2 hours to get a single minute of activity?!! Perhaps this is a good thing to do with small kids who don't realize they are being fleeced. It's an outrageous price for basically a few minutes of activity. read more

When you arrive at the facility and check in, they'll ask you if you want to "fly high" (read go more than 5 feet off the deck), which of course you want to do, but it'll cost you extra. Photos? Video? Those will cost extra too and are, BTW, TERRIBLE quality. The staff are all very nice, especially the flight coaches. But they are clearly trained to upsell you on all things iFly). I've been three times now. Why, if I'm rating this one star, did I go back two times after the initial time? Because people bought me gift certificates. Go if you're gifted with this flight. I tried the indoor skydiving with my sister and cousins and cousins kids. We were a large group of 13. My sister scheduled an appointment and we signed the wavier in advance via email. If you don't sign the waiver in advance, you can do this when you arrive. We arrived early for our appointment and we used the computer to sign in. A number of us opted to add on the "High Flight". High Flight is a tandem rapid rise and rapid drop experience towards the end of your second flight. We watch the current group go through their flight. This will give you an idea of what to expect. So this main area is the observation area (if you have people that will not fly, they can watch the entire experience, or even record it), one enclosed room is the class room, and there is a second corner wherethe flight suits, helmets and goggles are located. If required, there are lockers to place your loose items, such as keys or cell phones. When the classroom is ready, you will watch a safety video and explanation of what you are going to do and how the instructor will communicate with you with specific hand signals. The first flight is the introductory and practice flight, in which everyone in your group gets a turn. This is more of a "floating" sensation. I have never been skydiving before, so I can't compare, but this reminds me of when I was on a hot air balloon or parasail experience. Then you have your second flight. I must warn you, the instructor will point upwards. This pointing upwards is to ask you if you signed up for the "High Flight". You can nod or show the instructor your arm band with the High Flight symbol stamped on it. On this second flight, you perfect your skills and stability. If you opted for the "High Flight", they take the last 15 to 20 seconds to run a tandem rapid rise and rapid fall about three or four times before your sessions ends. This High Flight was very exhilarating and well worth the add on cost. We all had a great time. they have a camera system that can take still photos and videos of your group, which you can purchase or use a voucher towards. A few noteworthy tips. With the air passing by at 130 miles per hour. Don't smile with an open mouth, else your spit may accidentally fly out. If you wear prescription glasses, they have larger goggles to accommodate it, but your glasses will be pressed onto your face. If you have a friend in the observation area, pay attention to the previous group so you can be prepared on what to take pictures of and what to record. Because at the end of each group, the instructors will perform some amazing tricks, which you should record, I saw a break dance routine that was simply amazing. read more

Our 4 year old flew like a pro with the high flight instructor and it was simply amazing to Watch him go! The only thing we did not like was the delay & wait of more than 1.5 hrs to fly after our slotted time! They were running behind on that day and did apologize to us. So please plan for possible delays. However watching other people fly before your chance comes helps you prepare for the flight would recommend this place! read more

I think this place was pretty fun and the flying part was such an exhilarating experience with the 100+mph winds blowing you up! I always thought it wasn't that great because people say the whole thing is very quick so I never really wanted to go. But then my work decided to come here on an outing and so I went. Now I think everyone should try this place out because to actually feel like flying or skydiving is such a unique experience that you can do right here. In my group of 6 we each had a couple turns going in lasting for about a few minutes each. The second time we went in, the instructor asked if we wanted to go up (which is an additional $10) and he had us spinning in the air from top to bottom which was definitely a "rush" and gave me that free-falling feel. It takes some getting used to get the right position but the instructor helps a lot. Great customer service as well because the fan was having issues and they told us to wait it out so we waited for about 30 minutes and then the machine got fixed. This was an activity on a trip for my daughters 13th birthday. She's was scared, so passed on the first round of flights. She went for it the second time because the instructor (lawrence) offered to hold on to her the whole time. That was the safety net she needed to feel ok. She loved it! While it was over $200 for both of us to get 2 minutes in the chamber, it was worth a fun experience and to challenge my daughters and my initial fear. While i can't imagine going more than once (it really is a long process to get the one or two minutes of flight), it was a great experience for us, and I was appreciative to the instructor for doing what he could to call my daughters apprehension. read more

Quick shoutout to Ben working at front desk for all of his help, and for being the homie. Being in the wind tunnel definitely gives you no control over your body, but the worker flying with you is amazing at helping guide you and making sure you're enjoying your time. Disclaimer: Indoor skydiving is very different from actual skydiving. Outdoor skydiving is more like falling, indoor skydiving is more like floating/being blown up by air. With that said, it was a fun experience while it lasted (1-min each time). Expect to be there for 1.5 to 2 hours. First you check in on the first floor, during which you will be asked to fill out a waiver and then given a waistband with a time. Then proceed upstairs to watch other people "fly" for a while to wait for your time to go watch the training video (time on your waistband). Then you will be given the proper outfit, goggles and helmet. After everyone in your group is ready, you will be let into the inner chamber and you are ready to go. Fear not, you will have a instuctor that will be by your side the whole time. Tip: 1) Come for someone's birthday, I believe birthday person gets High Fly for free. 2) Get the High Fly option (you go high up guided by the instructor) into the chamber for 10ish seconds. My 2nd flight! The first time was to celebrate my friend's bday when iFly first opened. This time I had a discount ticket from a friend which got me 3 "Earn Your Wings" flights for $40. I invited my friend and his 2 boys and together we had a blast! A 1-minute flight just isn't enough and I can't imagine getting teased like this. I got another coupon for a 2-1 so there will be future flights in the future! Too bad the coupon isn't valid on the weekends. For those of you who hasn't done this yet, be sure to bring a friend to help you take pics from the outside of the acrylic glass. My friend made all the arrangements. We had a coupon, buy one get one free I think it was. Anyhoo, it came out to $28 a person and it included one DVD for the entire group. I don't know if I enjoyed it because I had such a difficult time scheduling an appointment when I went actual Skydiving (see skydive hollister review). But we were in and out relatively quickly. We went in signed in on the computer, signed the waiver, went upstairs waited.. about 10 minutes (watching other people in the wind tunnel), was escorted to the room to watch the training video, instructor talked to us, went back outside got suited up and in the wind tunnel we went. At first I just thought we go the one minute.. It was a lot harder than I thought it'd be to keep my balance.. Once you get the hang of it though you sort of fly up. The minute went by quick and you randomly see flashes for when they are taking your picture. I was the first in my group to go and exited and got to watch the rest of my friends go. NOTE: Major drooool fest... Be advised keep your mouth closed. I was surprised when the instructor took me on a second go... except this time he flew up as well and we did tricks. it was pretty awesome. We spun while zooming waaaaaaay up and plummeting down in the wind tunnel. TOTALLY AWESOME! I don't like how it's called "indoor skydiving" having now done both, I feel like it's a different feeling. I would still prefer to go real skydiving but hey for this price I could do this 4 times compared to one real skydiving time.. so I guess it evens out. We have flown here a couple of times when friends/family come to visit or to celebrate a birthday etc. It's always been really fun and enjoyable. Staff has always been really nice and easy to work with, facilities are clean, and the feeling is undeniably so fun! The upgrade to High Flyer is worth it, it's such a blast. Our most recent instructor was Lawrence and he was the best! My husband and I went with 2 friends, and we had a total of 5 minutes flight time each with the package we bought. It gave us time to learn a few basics and Laurence was great at communicating with hand signals etc. I definitely recommend flying at iFly! But if you have long hair, I recommend a beanie or some other way to keep your hair contained because even tied back in a pony tail and under a helmet it got wrecked and took me several minutes to brush out my long hair. So bring a beanie and a brush along if you have long hair! read more

I tried to reschedule on the Saturday of that week, which was the only day my son would be available that week, plus iFly had plenty of availability. I was told no, unless I paid extra. I'll give my review from my perspective, then you can make your own judgment: I'm currently doing my AFF schooling to get my skydiving license, and I thought this would be really good practice to work on control, but the way the instructor did it was just pretty awful. I did a four-minute session, which I thought was going to be done in one minute intervals, or maybe even two, two minute intervals, but it was one minute, and then three minutes. After the first session, it was good because the instructor told me a little bit of what I was doing wrong, and then I went in again (after waiting a long time for the other people - long lines) for a three minute session. During the time, he was trying to instruct me on what to do, nonverbally, but I had no idea what he was trying to get across the whole time, and they turned the speed way down, so I was basically floating on my stomach for about two minutes, working on turning, trying to decipher what he was saying. At the end of it, he was able to use words to describe what he was trying to say, which was nice, except that we were done and I wasn't able to practice what he said. So that was just lovely. I would have had a much better time if the instructor wasn't even there and I could have just floated around and figured it out on my own. Pretty much just a big waste of money and time. I guess you just need to find a time when they are not busy at all, then you can work on your own things, or maybe do the acrobatics course, I'm not sure how it all works. I booked "The Elevated" Birthday party package online for my daughter's 10th birthday. I purchased for the minimum of 6 flyers thinking I could add on if any additional kids came last minute, but weekends are super busy and by the time we confirmed 48 hours in advance, the day was fully booked. It worked out okay with a few "unable to attend". Unfortunately, I didn't warn the attendees of the strict time constraint and one of the kids missed the 10 minute cutoff and wasn't able to fly. The rest of the kids did have a great time and the included high-flight, photo, and video for each flyer was a nice bonus. It took less than an hour from the official 11am 'check-in' time we were booked for, gearing up, training session with the instructor, flights (including 4 others not in our party), and undressing. Shawn was a great instructor for the kids. They're fairly efficient on a fully booked Saturday, and it helped that all the kids had their waivers filled out in advance. Our party room was ready for us at noon and we moved right in. Online Info on the Birthday party accommodations was limited, and I didn't get a chance to ask the party coordinator about the details. The party room had a refrigerator full of sodas, and there was a cold/hot water dispenser and a Keurig coffee maker available. The table was set up with a tablecloth, a couple of balloon weights (no balloons), plates and napkins, and we were provided 3 large pizzas (we were able to choose the toppings in advance when providing the final count of attendees). There was an additional table available that we set presents on, and they had additional napkins, forks and cups. We brought our own cake, cake cutter, candles, and lighter. . .so it's a lot more "hands off" for the staff than other places (like Pump it Up and Chuck E Cheese where they have dedicated hosts). We actually preferred this as space was limited in the room and it kept the experience more intimate. There was a window if we wanted to watch the fliers from the following sessions, and another window with a nice view out the front of the facility. A TV was also available, but we didn't use it. 1 hour was plenty of time for pizza, drinks, cake, and present opening. Important tips for event planners: *Set your invitation start time to be 15 mins before the 'check-in' time *Ask for RSVPs at least a week in advance of the party date (to get a final count by the time IFly calls) *A few days before the party, Send a reminder to all the flyers to arrive on time on flight day. . .better to come early than miss the flight experience altogether. *Bring additional decorations, we only had a banner, which we put up ourselves, but supposedly they'll put up decorations you provide if asked. *Ask the Ifly event coordinator any questions. . .she won't offer details unless asked. (Veteran moms cans ignore the advice above. . .I'm sure you're rolling your eyes and thinking 'duh', but this is coming from a mom that does these things few and far between ...boo me!) read more

Tip: Come here 30 mins prior to scheduled flight time to check-in and watch the instructional video! The whole experience took 2 hours. Great solo and/or family activity! We enjoyed our time at the Union City iFLY. The whole staff, from the front desk to the instructors, is incredibly friendly. Our flight instructor caught us up to speed quickly and our group was able to start indoor skydiving effortlessly! What really stood out to me was how the instructors and staff treated young children (~5 years old). Indoor skydiving is quite a scary, abnormal experience, but the instructors at iFLY have a knack in calming the nerves of young kids. I witnessed our instructor convince two young girls to step out of their comfort zones and try the high-flight option. Overall, it is quite pricey for flight (~$20 per minute). After purchasing a gift card package from Costco for $99/3 cards at $50 each. A good tip is to research as their are several gift card configurations and different Costco warehouses carry different selection packages. I decided to gift my tween nephew an indoor sky diving activity (actually he picked it out of 3 possible birthday gifts I offered) and I'm so glad he did. He entered this new activity a bit nervous, in the words of a 10 yr boy. After making reservations over the phone, we checked in at the front desk, paid for his chosen package with the gift cards (which is a good value). I also gifted his uncle as it was his birthday month too. The lobby (greet area) is rather small and can get crowded if several groups such as birthday parties, corporate gatherings or similar, come in at once. After paying and signing waiver, You are then instructed to go up the steel staircases to arrive at the top floor (aka flight deck) that holds the in door wind tunnel. The "divers" are met with an instructor which will provide directions and get suited with flight simulator jumpsuit. Then the "divers" line up to await the groups turn. The spectators find an area to sit outside the simulator awaiting their family or friends turn. This is when one gets their phones, video or iPad ready to capture the moment. I observed organized chaos. Not sure how the high spirited staff keeps things organized but they kept the schedule flowing. Each "diver" had 2 rounds, but his older uncle also got the added virtual realiiy (VR). the final outcome was both highly highly enjoyed this fun activity. The sky diver instructors were very helpful with the group, keeping them motivated to hold certain poses to get the best out of each moment. The first burst of air, one literally gets lifted from and instructor poses them to get the most after each turn. The second burst, the air literally pushes one up even higher (if youre light, you can go up (almost out of view). Oh their is a person in a booth controlling the air strength. The VR upgrade I was told was exciting to have 3D experience. I think it was $39 more, but check the web for all packages and upgrades. Note you can see pictures and videos taken from the business. Their are machines along the window and you view what pics and videos were recorded for each "diver". We didn't buy any as our family took pictures and videos from cell phones and iPads. But remember each "diver" will receive a completion certificate to take home, of which you can frame :) The nice thing said by my nephew is he had so much fun and wants to do it again. His uncle said it was exciting too. It was reminicent of his yester-decade military because of the suited outfit and air tunnel simulators. I've been to iFLY (in Union City) three times and I've always had a great time. I think it's best going with people that have never done it before just to see their reactions. The first two times I went back in 2012. I did it with my niece and nephew and we all thought it was one of the coolest things. It's the next next best alternative to skydiving to people like me - who won't do the real thing. Well, last week I took my 7 year old daughter for her friend's birthday party. And guess who was there? Matt Manalo, the SAME flight instructor that we had 5 years ago! Now there are a lot of good instructors at iFLY, but Matt is definitely one of the best ones. He has such a great connection with the kids! And when he is in the tunnel with them, he makes sure the child sees their parent before the lesson. He also is very intuitive if the child is willing to go all the way or simply just wants to stop. Matt just goes a little more out of the way than most. So if you ever go to iFly, and can request Matt Manalo as instructor, you will be taken care of and have a lot of fun! read more

Ruined my birthday party. Discriminated against my group. I called 3 weeks ahead and booked my birthday party. I live a 2 hour drive away, and had family coming from out of town. I, and others, booked hotels and we had ages from 4 to 70 ready and excited to "fly". The website FAQ sections states that flyers up to 30lbs are welcome. I called a few days ahead to let them know that we have a few flyers, and discuss the food and cake arrangements. The representative informed me, after I told her we have 4 people that were over 200lbs, that overweight patrons are only able to fly based on the discretion of the instructs. And, that they have no instructors that "ever agree to have overweight people", and they would not be allowed to fly. This literally left me and my family members, all of us coming from out of town, in the lurch. I literally could not find another venue to accommodate my group of family and friends, and essentially had NO BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. I was embarrassed and humiliated, and those friends/family that are generously sized were insulted as well. iFly is either deceptive in its advertising, or in violation of its own corporate policies. In either case, they have lost a customer, I cannot recommend them at all. read more

That being said, the experience was amazing. I have to specifically call out Aaron. I've flown with him twice now and he is amazing. He makes everyone feel at ease, communicates super well, and works magic making kids feel like they are in heaven. I have to start by saying I have never written a negative review before. However, our experience at iFly was horrible. While the experience itself was a lot of fun, when there was a problem it could not have been worse. We had purchased a package that included a couple of videos and several photos. When we went to purchase them, they had lost not only my video but all the photos as well. When I called, the woman who answered the phone on 2/20 at 11:00am was rude, unhelpful and hung up on me. I have never ever had that experience. All she cared about was not having to deal with a mistake IFly made. This woman should be fired as her job is customer service. It is very sad that this woman is responsible for leaving such a bad taste in my mouth. And of course, I have not heard back from IFly to remedy this situation. read more

Our instructor, Albert was fantastic and he gets a 5* so I'll put that out there first. Now on to the nitty. The place was smelly (sweat and marijuana...Kinda think it was one of the instructors that smelled of weed since it became really strong when he entered our waiting area for the jump). We arrived at 4:30 to complete paperwork as we were told that it could take time to do (really took less than 10 minutes for the 5 of us). We had a 5pm appointment but didn't start the class until after 5:30. One of the trainers was practicing moves of sorts between our skydiving simulations (It's apparently a normal thing). Each of us had roughly 2 minutes od simulation broken into 2 segments. It was a fun experience and I laughed so hard I got spit flying up my face (ewwwww). I would consider going to an iFly again but not at this site and only if with a similar deal as we got since it was a 4th of July special. One time feels sufficient though. read more

It would have been nice to show up later than our reservation time which was 3:30pm. We left at 5pm and felt the wait time could have been shortened yet still adequate to check in people, jump school, suit up and fly. Just a thought. In case it wasn't clear to people (as it wasn't for me, though admittedly I didn't read that carefully their online descriptions), each session you're buying is for ONE MINUTE of actual flying. And each package you get needs to be used up in one single session. For example, we got the family package for 4 people (10 sessions) thinking we could come back twice, and 2 people could come back a third time. Instead they didn't ask how we want to use it and just instead split it to 2min15s per person. They tell you to come and expect to spend roughly 2hrs there, but a lot of it is waiting (given you're flying for 60s per session purchased). You're also not technically reserving that specific time slot you purchased, they kinda just do people in batches in order of your time slot. There's only 1 flying tunnel in the middle of the room (everyone can see it) so they just process people in groups, and so your wait time varies depending on previous group size / their session length. We were the last group of the day and waited about an hour from checking in to being called. We were a group of 4 and was bundled with another group of 5 kids. You watch a few minutes of an intro video, get changed into your suit, and into the tunnel area you go! An instructor goes in with the group and takes people one by one - I was kinda scared but it was really safe and fun! The instructors are AWESOME! Super great attitude and will always make sure you're safe. They're also clearly very very experienced and we felt totally safe in their hands. They'll be more hands on if you need it, if they think you're doing pretty good they'll throw you around the room a bit lol, it was a very effective trust building experience. XD The experience itself was awesome and I'm really glad I tried it. But I would recommend people getting at least 2 session in their first go because in the first minute everything is so new and foreign by the time I came out my mind kinda blanked and I don't remember much of what had happened. In the second session you kinda know what to expect so you can really try to think and experience it more. When everyone's done the instructor then does a performance and holy moly it's INCREDIBLE how fast they can fly and drop and just have so much control over their body in the wind tunnel. Watching them perform was one of my favorite moments! At the end I was really intrigued by how to get better at it, but the price is just INSANE. $75 per 5 MINUTES. For context all the instructors there have 5000+ hours flown. It just seems way too pricy to pursue for anyone who didn't inherit millions of dollars, at least here. My conspiracy theory is all the instructors working here are secretly forced to to pay off the debt they accumulated learning how to fly here lol. Don't buy too many sessions in one go as you'll be offered a good discount in person when you've flown that day. They'll also offer a $10 high fly experience with the instructor - get it, it's SO cool, you get to spin up into the ceiling and drop back down 3 times with the instructor! Overall this was really fun, A+ instructors, I'm really intrigued by this but wish there were cheaper options to actually get more advanced at flying! read more

We came here on a Friday night to celebrate 2 people birthday in our party of 3. We scheduled the last booking of the day at 7:30pm not knowing we would run into major traffic jams coming from Paterson & Fairfield, Ca. so we barely made it on time. Cole was our guide and was very nice and professional. We called to let them know we were running late and they were nice enough to wait for us and gave us extra 5 mins to get there. We all had a fantastic time. Cole was very courteous and friendly and outgoing and made the whole experience even more fun and exciting. We will definitely be back to celebrate another birthday! read more

The waiting time is 2 hours with the reservation, after the reservation time. The cost is $59 for 2 minute flight. The suits are uncomfortable Extremely disappointing experience. Regret ever coming here. read more
