Ignite Brewing Company is one of my favorite local hangouts. It's owned and operated by kind and caring people and offers an inclusive space for all. The beer is great and they regularly have beers that give back. Be sure to ask about their charitable efforts, while you are there. They are always "making beer make a difference." The menu always has a wide selection of beers (styles and flavor profiles) and they regularly rotate the selections. I don't prefer IPAs, so I appreciate having a lot of options here even though I regularly lean toward the Blonde Barista. It's so good! They also have an amazing patio, regular events (like live music and fundraisers in addition to the trivia others have already mentioned), and now an assortment of food. I love that the menu includes specialties that can be customized to your liking. It's not often you'll see vegan dog, salad, or nacho options in addition to the more standard hot dog or brat base choices. I also appreciated that you can order with a bun, bunless, or served on a lettuce boat, but we ordered all bun options this time. Anyway, on this day I ordered a Staycation Sunset gose beer and a Heater dog, the messiest of the specialty food options. Thankfully, Ignite had plastic cutlery to help save me from making a spectacle of things. The flavor of The Heater was good - not nearly as spicy as the name might suggest. We ended up staying for awhile, so I ordered The Grand Slam a little later. This one was just as described - a Chicago inspired recipe. I recommend it - unless you are from Chicago and have loyalties to Portillo's or the like. My husband had both The Designated Hitter and The -Dog and really liked both. Got put up in town for a work project and decided to catch a break one evening and check out the local Brewery. Loved the atmosphere of the place with plenty of indoor and outdoor (patio) seating and the ladies behind the bar were fantastic with great service! Don't remember the draft I had but it was definitely tasty, I believe it was one of their IPAs (which will most likely always be the case with me ha) - is Ohio not the craft beer capital yet?! read more

We were there on a pretty quiet night, arriving about an hour before closing. I really like the vibe in here and the location downtown Barberton. The bartender was nice and the beer selection is good. I had the winter warmer (can't think of the name right now) and it came with an optional cinnamon/sugar rim. I don't always love that, but I was just in a cinnamon/sugar sort of mood, so I gave it a whirl. Cool place. read more

When we walked in we were immediately greeted by friendly and helpful staff. I love their digital beer boards, it helps me organize the beers in my mind. We tried a bunch. The two best ones were not in cans to go. We got two hotdogs, the dinger and chicago dog. They went nicely with a flight of beer but very simplistic. A nice spot in downtown Barberton that serves their own beer. We stopped by on a Saturday night, and the place was hopping. They have an outdoor seating area that was full as there was live entertainment. We found a table inside and the vibe was good. There's a small amount of bar seating, too. The beer selection was solid. We enjoyed the Blonde Barista, a coffee ale, and a 543 IPA. Other beers represented a good spread of styles like stouts and sours. They do not have a full bar from which mixed drinks might be served, but you can separately order a spirit like vodka. Ask them for details on what can be brought with you. The night we attended there was a food truck for dinner. The bar had some small snacks and even desserts in the beer cooler. Staff was prompt with service and answered our questions. A nice option when in Barberton for a chicken dinner. read more

Great place to sit for a while and drink a local brew. Highly recommend a flight so you can sample different brews. Of the four I tried, their Christmas Ale was my favorite; be sure to get the cinnamon sugar rim. The person working at the bar was super helpful and nice. Very relaxing and fun atmosphere here. My only disappointment was the food menu online didn't match the one on the kiosk inside. The food items I wanted to try weren't available. Well, my wife and I stopped in for a flight because we're very big brewery fans, we were in the Akron area, and this place has 4.5 stars on Yelp. How does it have 4.5 stars? I have no idea. We got a flight. The best beers on the flight were mediocre at best. Ignite the Jack-o-lantern: absolutely no pumpkin taste. It tasted like a lager that someone sprinkled some pumpkin spice into. Shadows on the Clouds: average for a hazy. This was a mediocre one. Memphis Sunset: peanut butter dunkelweizen. Just weird. Not good. Very weird. Scarlet: Irish red ale. Also mediocre, but palatable I suppose. The space is pretty cool. A combination of patio and open air bar. It's probably pretty nice in the spring and early fall. They just need better beer. Much better. Much, much better. read more

I wanted to go back and revisit my earlier review after a bit of time has passed and Ignite has largely addressed all of the issues that we'd had issues with before. We've continued to head to Ignite nearly every week since my original review and quite a lot has changed -- for the better. One of the issues was the food situation. Between the lackluster internal kitchen, no more food trucks, and no more outdoor food, it wasn't great. Now, they have since closed and reopened the internal kitchen with more affordable items that are delicious, even if slightly limiting. But they are still allowing outside food items AND food trucks have been back in full force! Win for everyone! So many options now! Another issue was the beer. Taste will always be subjective but there was a period where we didn't love any of the new beers. Recently though, they've all been on point. There's a new hazy that we love and a few barrel-aged beers that were incredibly good. Super happy with the beer quality that has been coming out lately! Even for trivia, they've increased the second-place prize to two beers which is a totally fair prize. Overall, we love Ignite. They listen to their customers, are always incredibly friendly and talkative, have some of the best staff around, and have great beer. The beer is good but less than great on the bartender or customer service aspect. Going in on a Saturday night that was slow and only had about 10 people in the building, I asked for 2 four packs. Dorothy was the girl who "helped" me. Her help consisted of telling me to check the cooler, then to inform me that the beers were very expensive so I probably wouldn't want them. I have to say, I think I look like a pretty average person but that should not matter in the sense of cost shaming. I walked in the establishment with intent to buy beer, why would I be persuaded to not do it? Also, I asked about the cost difference of the cans verse growlers to make sure she wasn't trying to push that aspect and nope. The costs are similar. I was highly disappointed in a brewery that I have liked in the past to have an environment that feels so harsh and unwelcoming. I don't know if I would ever go back, even if it's local :( Sorry Ignite but that experience was harmful and unnecessary. read more

So my wife and I had 3 breweries left to finish on the Summit Brew Path Passport, and the deadline is next week. We were going to split a beer at each and be done with it. And then, our first stop, Ignite Brewing came along. That split beer turned into two hours, and probably our favorite experience along the entire passport of local breweries. The space is great, and they have a wide array of beers, something for everybody's pallet. Their Christmas Ale is as good as any out there, and they put brown sugar on the rim even if you get a small flight beer. I loved their hefe, and honestly every beer I had was really good. There is a patio, and dogs are allowed out there. No food, but they gave us like 9 cheesy popcorn refills. We sat at the bar, and had an absolute ball. 30 seconds in and we were sharing pictures of dogs and kids with the bartender Tyler, and we spent a half hour talking about bourbon with the owner. We contemplated not even finishing the passport and just hanging out at Ignite. I highly recommend stopping in. We'll be back. read more

This Andrew O. guy is blatantly slandering the business because of the fact they are known cheaters during the Wednesday night trivia, week in and week out they have a near perfect score. Due to this the brewery changed the prize to help eliminate the cheating. He's just salty that they have been caught and can no longer get free beer on the weekly by being a low life cheater. The business has in fact not been going downhill, but has maintained their excellence since day one. All businesses go through staff changes, but there had been no regression on their customer service, that was simply a lie. The beer is fantastic, and has only progressively gotten better, this is something that the owners and staff pride themselves in. Yes, there are great beers around town, but none better or above the quality of Ignite's bees. Outside food was lightly banned to help promote their kitchen business, this is not an outrageous request. Yes, the kitchen was a third party, but that had no effect on the atmosphere of the brewery. Yes, that endeavor was short lived, but that is due to the high standards of the ownership and management of the facility. Food truck's have been coming back, but the weather has been classic Ohio winter/spring mix, and the food trucks haven't been as active. However, the "food ban" was lifted, meaning that Andrew O. and co could bring in their own food, or food from elsewhere. To which he was complaining about not being able to do, so exactly which way would please Sir Andrew O?? Again, Andrew O and co are cheaters and won both games consistently with a near perfect score for months, they are only salty about the changes due to the amount of beer they were able to get for free by cheating their way through trivia night. Free beer is free beer, don't whine over something you don't have to pay for. Probably wouldn't be so salty if you actually earned the beer through what you know, rather than google all of the answers. Seems a bit entitled to whine or something so simple. The comment about the management not listening is just blatantly false. False. As a true regular they (owners and management) listen VERY well, they even ask us our opinions on things. Which is well above and beyond what a company should do, who care's what we think?? The owners and managers, that's who. I don't know of a single current or former staffer that would have anything bad to say about the management of the brewery. Just yet another wildly false statement. Middling beers? Truly, the beer has continued to stay consistent or improve. Another false statement, and the only regulars the cheating squad talks to are themselves. The owners are invested in the new Brunswick locations, but this site has not suffered in the slightest. Honestly, the brewery will be better off without cheaters and entitled slanders. When you walk in, your senses are plunged into the sweet smell of liquid gold :). When breweries are putting toasted coconut on the rim of a beer, I AM IN!!! The open atmosphere is great with games in the corner, FREE popcorn and awesome bartenders. You can see into the bottling and brewing area or watch some tv. Really liked Ignite Brewing. Neat place with a cool outdoor patio. They don't serve food but we were there on a Saturday and they had a food truck. I had the matchstick blonde and it was really good. My husband had the Lost on Denali and he really liked it was well. There were several others I wanted to try so we will be back. Hometown "everybody knows your name" vibes and it was only my first time there! We drove 387 miles to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday in the city where she grew up--Barberton! Ignite does EVERYTHING right! Planning long distance was made super easy with a staff who cares and caterers to their patrons. Stacy was super amazing in helping me plan and was always available for questions and concerns as the party planning unfolded. We had 16 guests, we were given a semi private space that fit our needs perfectly! The music choices can not go without mention! I felt like my own playlist was playing all night! Family friendly! Great board games and out door games open to all! You do not want to miss a stop at Ignite!! Bring your own food and enjoy their amazing brews! These folks can brew some beer! We stopped with our puppy to check it out and were blown away. The patio is very spacious and dog friendly. The double IPA was delicious(5-4-3), the stout they rim with toasted coconut (Mounds of Curiosity) was killer, but our favorite was the coffee infused blonde ale. Can't wait to go back. read more

We were passing through Barberton on Thanksgiving weekend and decided on stop into Ignite Brewing Company on the recommendation of a friend of the owners. Turns out Barberton was in full-on holiday mode with their tree-lighting, so the brewery was jammed with people. Always a good sign!!! We were traveling, and with the crowd, hubby and I both kept it to one beer. I had their winter ale, complete with a cinnamon and sugar rum (such a cute touch and great added flavor) and my husband had an IPA. Solid beers, especially for a new brewery! There's still some work to be done on the building and ambiance, which I hear they're doing over time, to add more comfortable seating and decor. We will definitely revisit to try out more of their offerings on our next trip through the area! Looking forward to seeing their growth! read more

Large taproom with lots of windows and natural light accompanied by an extra large outdoor patio complete with corn hole! Beautiful brewery, but the best part is the amazing selection of high quality beers (delicious!!) and the friendly, down to earth people who own the business, and their great staff! It's a great place for after work or to hang out on a weekend night. Bring your own food or order pizza - their kitchen is not open yet. Patio is dog-friendly!! I've been going here for about two years now, religiously, whether it be once or twice a week. I've always loved the beers, but I cannot stand behind the fact that they put limits on their patrons. My family and I were refused service tonight due to the fact they thought we "ordered too much". If i wanted someone else to make decisions for me, I would have stayed living with my parents. In the two years we have been going, we've never had this issue. I'm now hesitant to return as are the rest of my family members and will be sure to advise friends and other family to choose elsewhere for their beer wants and needs. I have been to most of the breweries on the Summit brewery trail. This one has become one of my favorites. Creative beer selection and excellent friendly staff. I always feel like I have been missed when I come in, that's a nice trait! Staff takes the time to be friendly, helpful and informative. I have talked to the head brewer a couple of times and he too is friendly and informative. I am a big IPA fan and their "5-4-3 Double Play" is the best in the Akron area ( favorable, full bodied ) read more
