They had great beer choices! The coffee blonde was amazing and we also enjoyed the coconut beer. I closed my eyes and imagined the waves on my feet. New Berlin's version was way too sweet, and smothered in black pepper. Instead of a really crispy curst, it was more like a thin crust pizza that folded instead of snapping in half. The currywurst was, and I hate to use the pun.. worst. It tasted like ketchup with curry powder sprinkled on top instead of a curry sauce made with a bit of tomato paste. The wurst was weak, and almost flavorless without the "sauce". I don't drink beer, so I can't speak for the beer. The lemonade and fries were good, and I hate to say it, the best part of the meal. Didn't take home uneaten food, because it wasn't worth it. The atmosphere is nice, our server was attentive and great. Staff friendly, and despite being busy, they were inviting. It's just a shame it sucked, because I wanted this to be my to go to place for Flammkuchen because I live alone, and it's just not practical to make for myself on the regular, but thought it would be a fun place to go with friends. But they really dropped the ball on such an easy dish. Please, New Berlin.. lay off the black pepper. You almost over peppered the french fries. Leave it up to the customer to add pepper because it was really heavy handed. Atmosphere and staff: 4 stars. Food: Zero stars.
