Good service staff are friendly. Only problem is that they have a lousy food at cafeteria.

I cannot recommend this facility to anyone with a loved one who needs skilled rehabilitation or high-acuity care. My family experienced repeated problems with severe understaffing that appeared to affect nearly every aspect of patient care. At times, it seemed there was only one nurse or aide responsible for as many as 17 patients. Whether that was the official staffing ratio or not, the level of care reflected a facility stretched far beyond its limits. The most upsetting experience was waiting well over an hour after using the call light for help with toileting. By the time anyone responded, my family member had already soiled herself. We ended up providing the care ourselves most of the time because we could no longer depend on timely assistance. On another occasion, a broken bathroom call light left her stranded for approximately 45 minutes, forcing her to attempt an unsafe transfer on her own and creating a serious fall risk. Unfortunately, these were not isolated incidents. During visits, I regularly saw multiple call lights going unanswered, families wandering the halls searching for help, and patients waiting far too long for basic care. At one point, while patients were waiting for assistance, several staff members were gathered in a back room eating together, leaving the floor seemingly unattended. Employees need to stagger breaks. The food was another major disappointment. This facility promotes itself as a high-end rehabilitation center, yet meals were consistently poor quality and lacked the fresh, nutritious foods patients need to heal. My family often felt compelled to bring outside meals, yet there wasn't even a microwave available for reheating food. I was also concerned by several operational issues, including the use of a shared open ice cooler instead of a more sanitary dispensing system. Delays in laboratory testing that could impact dialysis patients, where timely lab results are critical for safe treatment. There was no onsite lab and lab results were not posted or available for 2 days. What saddened me most was seeing vulnerable patients--including veterans and retired healthcare professionals--left waiting for basic needs such as toileting, hygiene, and assistance. No one recovering from surgery, illness, or dialysis should have to worry whether help will come in time. I understand that healthcare facilities everywhere face staffing challenges, but patients and their families deserve safe, compassionate, and timely care. My hope is that management addresses the chronic understaffing and operational shortcomings so future residents receive the level of care this facility promises. Response time to calls lights is ridiculous over 25 minutes.Had to walk around to find someone. The receptionist extremely unfriendly not even a hello just a nod and smile.Medication just left no one watching if taken. Pill found on floor. 2 aides that came in did not knock nor talk to my family member it was more of like an order no name tags. Found family.member sitting staring at a plate of food that had been there atheist 2 hrs we asked for a different meal as he did not like , aide brought in new food with attitude. Medication carts are left unlocked. Bathroom is left a mess. Meds were crushed apprently without proper orders. Conversation was made with ED and DON but the pure i dont give a crap has continued to happen. Insulin syringes were left on top of cart with no one around. read more

My 76-year-old father was a resident at Ignite Medical Resort-Round Rock for 10 days before he suddenly and unexpectedly died overnight while in their care. I will not address the overall quality of care he received during his stay in this review. What I will address is what happened afterward -- or more accurately, what did not happen. At 1:30 a.m. on the morning of his death, I received a phone call from a constable, not from Ignite staff. The constable informed me that there had been a "pretty serious medical emergency" and that my father had been found unresponsive sometime between midnight and 12:30 a.m. He stated that staff had called 911 and that paramedics pronounced my father deceased around 1:00 a.m. I was in shock and did not know what questions to ask at that moment. It has now been three weeks since my father's death, and I have not heard from a single Ignite employee -- not a nurse, not a manager, not a care coordinator, not anyone. No one has contacted me to explain what happened. No one has offered condolences. No one has acknowledged that my father died while in their care. To be clear, I am not alleging that Ignite caused my father's death. However, the complete absence of communication is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. The expectation was recovery -- not death in the middle of the night with no explanation afterward. Why did no unit manager, social worker, or director of nursing contact me as the primary contact? Why was there no call explaining the sequence of events? A simple, humane conversation -- "The nurse entered his room to administer his midnight medication, found him unresponsive, we immediately called 911 and initiated life-saving measures, and we are so sorry for your loss" -- never happened. Instead, I am left to imagine what MAY have occurred. For a family who entrusted this facility with their loved one's care, that silence is unfathomable. read more

My wife died a short painful death at Ignite "Medical Resorts," which a friend who is a hospital administrator said was preventable. I should have been suspicious when she was first admitted, and her bed was so old that the vinyl veneer on the wood frame was peeling off, and the first outside layer of rubberized covering on her mattress had worn through. And that a nurse had to call three times in one day for their in-house repair person to fix the mechanical functioning of the bed. It took me two days to get staff to update the whiteboard in her room to contain staff on duty for that day. I asked the staff member why she had not updated it and she said I don't have a whiteboard pen or eraser. I purchased a packet on Amazon containing both for the room but still sometimes found the board out of date. My wife was in this medical resort for 3-4 days before she received her first physical therapy session and the sessions were sporadic after that. The call button was not easy to use, and it didn't call anyone. It lit up a light in the ceiling outside the door of the room that someone was supposed to notice and then come and make an inquiry about assistance. It often took 30 minutes before anyone came. On the day my wife died she had a problem after eating dinner, which the nurse who called me said they took care of. But when she went to check on my wife an hour or two later, my wife had had the same problem, obviously suffered briefly, and died. The nurse not having been informed that my wife had a Do Not Resuscitate order, tried to resuscitate her and called EMS. Only after EMS arrived and had been administering CPR did someone apparently come in and inform them of the DNR, and they thankfully stopped. I understand from friends who have had family members at rehab centers that the problems we experienced are not unique to this facility. However, based on what my family and I went through I do not recommend this "Resort." read more

Warning -- Please stay away What may look nice from the outside is completely overshadowed by what's happening inside. My father recently had a respite stay here and the experience was extremely concerning. Staff seemed short-staffed, communication was poor, and basic care was inconsistent. I repeatedly called to check on my father and no one returned my calls. Meals were missed, updates were nonexistent, and my "respite" turned into constant worry. A family friend eventually went to check on him and found he was not being properly attended to. I'll refrain from sharing every detail, but it was upsetting enough that it negatively impacted his emotional state -- he told me not to take him back there! This place operates like it's focused on profit, not patient well-being. I even shared feedback directly with leadership and was assured a nurse would call me back. That call never came. Please trust me and avoid this place. Do not leave your loved ones here unattended. Your family deserves better. read more

Every thing was fabulous except for one person who worked there while my dad was a patient. She screamed at me twice. She was awful. If she screamed at a patients family member... It's scary to think what she would do to patients when family wasn't around . I dont know her name. I think the other employees were scared of her.I only saw her that one time...One star just because of this employee. read more

Nope. It is nice and has a Starbuck's in the lobby. They should spend that money on the staff instead. I happened to go into the back for something and went into a staff bathroom and it had a sign that said something like "Smile, you're onstage!" No thanks. Just take better care of my loved one. They were always woefully understaffed and terrible at communicating between each other--as well...It was not good. I would avoid it if you can. My mother was here for a week and in her words "the worst experience of her life". I "thought" I had heard good things about this place around my workplace but something must've changed since then. My mom was there to get stronger after being in the hospital with pneumonia so she could go back to her assisted living facility. In the week she was there she got PT TWICE (granted it was over the new years holiday and there is no PT on the weekend ) and her experience with PT was good, but the bad experience came from the nursing/aides. They don't answer the call bell in a timely manner and put my mother in a diaper so they wouldn't have to take the time to get her to the toilet. They are also rude and unfriendly. I plan to make a formal complaint against this facility so maybe it will play a part in getting this place shut down!! I would rate this place 0 stars if I could! read more

Update Dec. 2025 Our ordeal at Ignite was so awful, it's been over a year now and I am still so deeply scarred it will be quite awhile before I can get past this experience. I heard that this place got new owners many months back, but that makes absolutely no difference to me. The nice looking building and lobby is just a facade. Unfortunately I must drive past that place too often and it makes me sick to my stomach even though I turn my head in the opposite direction. Honestly, I don't like being so negative against any place of business, but what took place there with my parent is beyond belief. Even with new owners I cannot imagine that all the employees that "worked" there at the time my parent was there are gone. The only improvement I can recommend is to shut that place down completely and resend their license. I can accept that some things can be made better, but not Ignite, they were beyond negligent, never truthful nor sincere. That business was, by far, the most inhumane business I have ever seen, heard of or experienced. It's the kind of place nightmares are made. Wish I knew then what I know now!!! We went through pure hell for a few months while our father was there. Upon arrival the 1st thing you see is a beautiful lobby...but beware, it ends there. Entering the room you'll see an orange folder with brochures and misc information, in which it says there will be a meeting with the family within 72 hours of arrival to ask questions and discuss their procedures and what we could expect during the stay with them, plus we would meet some of the supervisors from each area, such as Rehab, Housekeeping, a supervising nurse, etc. that never happened!! I asked quite a few more times over the months there that I really did want that meeting and never heard another word from anyone on that subject. Within the 1st hour after arrival we should have turned around and ran right back out the doors from that awful place because it only got worse...much worse. To see your parent cry because of the poor treatment, or complete lack of any humane treatment in that place is really hard to deal with. I tried to find someone who would help, but no luck. I called so many different employees multiple times over the months, but they very seldom answer their phones, and if they do answer they don't know, but they'll get back with you, that's a lie, they do not return calls or messages, and they won't talk to any family member about what's happening, even with a medical POA. P.S. our parent could not walk at all and needed help to get in and out of bed to use the bathroom but everyone was too "busy" to be bothered so they put him in diapers and disappeared. Our dad was ignored, had trouble getting his meds on time, got COVID while there (and no one told us so we came and went during that time), he's had a serious medical issue for 2 weeks and they did nothing until we insisted on a call to 911. He went to the ER in Round Rock, was treated and sent right back. 2 days later he went for a check-up with his ortho surgeon who noticed a problem and asked why he wasn't in the hospital!! We explained the situation and that doctor was appalled. He made some calls and my dad went back and was admitted to the hospital. That finally put an end to his months of pure hell at Ignite M.R. Ignite Medical (not a) Resort has no business being in the position of being a place to help people heal. They should be an embarrassment to the profession of being a SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility), We did finally have a "meeting" with the business manager and someone else but only because I demanded it when they asked for a credit card. They tried to help and tried to defend their place of employment but the meeting just stopped (they never got a credit card because Medicare was covering it). So this is only part of the awful experience we had with Ignite, there is just too much more to tell. Awesome care . The staff is dedicated to the mental and physical well being of its patients . They are very kind and are dedicated to getting you to your best physically so you can have a successful return to your home and to your life prior to your injury/ situation. Staff is exceptional from the welcome/release staff , to the physical therapists, to those providing other services like meals, meds, other needs. The key is the top level is very serious that the patients have the most positive experience so that the patient can focus totally on recovery. Amazing Staff and the facility is nice also. read more

I went here after reading it was a decent place for rehab ..after my surgery. Well, the facility on the outside and inside looked decent enough. But boy was I in for a shock! The beds they have in their rooms are old and VERY uncomfortable. Also, they apparently are short handed on assistant's because if you pushed your button to have someone come to your room.. You're gonna have to wait a minimum of 20-30 mins or more. Let's just hope you dont have to go to the bathroom.quick. The response time was awful. I will say there where a couple of nurses that where nice .... But all in all you could tell that many of the staff didn't appear to like their job. I spent a nightmarish three months here (mid Sept - mid Dec 2024). My family chose Ignite based on assurances that they would provide Physical Therapy every day. Turned out to be 2 or 3 days/wk, and of the 6-8 therapists I saw, only a couple were competent and willing. Baths were promised 2-3 X wk, but in 3 months, I had only one that was not by my wife. "Too Busy" They are terribly short-staffed, but refuse to admit it. Call light would usually go unanswered for anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. I had food poisoning at least once every 10 days. Had to go to ER @ Seton due to food, and when I returned 4-5 hours later, Ignite charged me an additional "Admission Fee", even though I was never actually discharged. I was assigned a Dr Romain as my "Attending Physician", who I NEVER met in my 3 months there, and only saw his nurse practitioners about 3 times for a grand total of less than half an hour. I re-named him my "Pretending Physician". Went 4-6 days at a time, on multiple occasions, waiting for him to approve refills on my regular maintenance meds. He discontinued my PT 10 days prior to what my insurance had approved. Absolutely NO discharge/transition orders/referrals from the Dr or the facility. No home healthcare. No medical equipment. My wife had to do all of that right as I was discharged, even though Ignite had repeatedly assured us that they were "taking care of everything". They almost never returned calls from my wife, my insurance social worker, myself. On several occasions I was given a nasty looking blanket as a bottom sheet and pillowcases as top sheet because "the laundry was out of sheets". Seriously?? Charging ridiculous daily room rates but can't afford enough sheets for the beds?? My wife brought my injection meds that require refrigeration and left them @ nurses station, and they LOST them, causing me to be without needed Rx for a whole month. Housekeeping - only if you or family can catch a housekeeper and get them to take trash out and maybe run a quick dust mop over a floor that hasn't been mopped in a month. Of the staff I experienced, only a small handful were both competent and caring. That goes for nurses, aides, therapists, administrators. The good ones were very good, but were severely overworked and treated with disrespect by admins. My insurance and I were over billed for therapy sessions I never received. I have repeatedly requested copies of my full medical records and itemized billing statements, and have only received "overview" statements with charges that are vague, misleading, and fraudulent. They openly object/refuse to provide documentation for their phony charges. When the "State Inspectors" would visit, all the admins who were never around would suddenly appear and pretend to be "helping" on the floor, while threatening staff members to "not say" this or "don't tell them" that. In summary, Ignite is a complete FRAUD, and should be avoided at all costs. read more

READ the reviews people. Don't let anyone you love go here. My mom was so neglected and ignored when she said she wasn't feeling well that she was rushed TO the hospital from Ignite, where she went into cardiac arrest. Her blood pressure was barely registering and the staff did NOT convey to the EMTs that there was ANYthing Mom had said was wrong, though in the notes I finally obtained months later, it was indicated Mom DID tell them she was not well overnight. This place should be shut down, and never be given a dime from Insurance. We will never allow a member of our family to go near Ignite again. Read the reviews, please. And know that for every review you read there are a dozen or more just like it that people have not taken the time to write. It's despicable that a place our loved ones go for care actually get worse. If you don't want to care for people, get the heck out of this business. PS My father was in the facility at the same time for rehab for a fall and then sent him home unable to walk, without so much as a walker. He had to have someone buy him one from Walmart so he could get up to go to the bathroom. read more

Don't bring your family to this fake rehab!! They will be abused and neglecte, they will cry for life saving medicine and not get it for upto 2-3 and a half hours. They tried to give my wife two drugs that don't work together because it can cause death.. they really tried to force her. The day staff is awesome but the night crew is dangerous. Even seen a old lady panicking because she needed meds or help and she was ignored for hours until she got out of bed to try and get help, she fell and died.. very dangerous night shift!!! We begged for help to stop their bad behavior but was ignored until my wife had 2 days left.. my wife was bullied by the night shift and they take 2 hours lunch breaks and let their paisents do without life saving medication.. We have pictures,videos and recordings to prove it.. ignite has many lawsuits against the, so your research before you make a bad decision and let them care for your love ones.. read more

Unfortunately when I was being discharged, I was disharted to realize that ignite was way more interested in my money than my healing like I thought they were. The business manager Nicole was about the most distasteful person I have ever met. I confided in her some deeply personal interest while I was staying there and she used it against me to try and get money from me. She also profiled me financially thinking I had more money than I did thinking she could charge me more!! I only saw the doctor once and she knew nothing about my story so when I discharged, I had two broken feet, three broken ribs, and a gash in my face. She marked that I didn't need any mobility devices at home. I can't walk! My insurance won't pay for a walker or wheelchair or anything like help in the bathroom to keep me from falling again. without a referral from the doctor. That's exactly how I got here, from falling multiple times. I thought they cared! You only find out at the very end. Sadly enough, most of these review are made before you actually discharge completely. I also heard that one of the doctors had her license revoked and is still praying there. I will be looking into to that but I don't know that far sure. There are some absolutely amazing people here 100%. I am forever grateful to them.. She tried a third time and I didn't even let her near me and I asked her to leave the third time, I had to ask her several times bc she wouldn't leave. That's just abusive especially since I was crying. I am still waiting to work out a $2250 bill that absolutely never should have gotten that high but there was no communication with me and I was given the run around. If I could put negative stars I would. Worst 36 hours of my life. Extreme neglect when you ask for water and don't get it, pain pills don't come because their "system" is messed up, shower, enema, help overnight getting in and out of bed. Only went there so as not to put a burden on my family and got the opposite. Nurse Patricia yelled at me. Nurse aid Bryon said, "off to torture the next patient..." The Twighlight zone was playing in my room when I arrive plus I had to wait more than 10 minutes outside in the heat because no one answered the door. They told me it was not a prison when I arrived, but felt like one when they wouldn't transfer my prescriptions when I wanted to leave. Only good people there I encountered were: Daphne, Leiza and the PT/OT people. This private "medical resort" is taking advantage of the wounded and sick- disgusting! read more

Administrator and Director of nursing could care less about caring for their residents. All they care about is their self interests and their positions and egos. The caregivers, nurses, and physician assistants are truly militant and failed to give medications wishing an hour of time patients are supposed to receive them and routinely exceed 3 hours past the prescribed time. In addition, they reduced the dosage to 1:2 of the prescribed dosage of several meds routinely. The problem was escalated daily to the director of nursing and to the administrator who would not allow us into her office to address the issue. She routinely quickly disappeared into a staff break area to s hidden room behind that break room to avoid conversation concerning the dst problems. Additionally, a binary abdomen tube installed into the resident was not cleaned and flushed out as required - not even one time That has had following impact and new medical procedures required after the patient released. Additionally, during our patient stay there were other multiple patients and families experiencing the same problems. The problems with staff are the result of the administrator and Firector of nursing and their failure to require following laws, regulations and standards. ! read more

IGNITE MEDICAL RESORT in Round Rock is differently a top tier facility for skilled nursing and rehabilitation. The staff from Nikk Holleman director of business development to Christie VP out Oklahoma other administrative staff are all welcoming the ladies in front lobby always happy to see you very positive pleasant individuals, what an amazing beautiful caring experience. Nursing staff exceptional skilled nurses these professionals really cared, for my husband keeping me in the loop and involved. Easy to go on with such amazing nurses and nursing assistants all lovely professional. Taking their time in care of my husband. Physical therapist to occupational therapist pass with flying colors the ladies and gents all so kind and patient while encouraging him. I love the place and would highly recommend this for loved ones. read more

My mom was in this rehab facility for over 2 weeks! She received the absolute best care from everyone associated with this place! The hospitality coordinator, the OT and PT and all the nurses and nurses aids treated my mom like family. We were so blessed by this wonderful place and highly recommend! read more

My elderly father died there from dehydration and Covid. When we'd visit him he had his drinks covered with plastic which he couldn't remove. They were very laissez faire about the Covid outbreak that swept through the facility. If you have a loved one there, please check on them daily, especially at mealtime. read more

Worst place ever is a good start. 1. Transfer and communication with the hospital could be improved. The medication and physical therapy program was not followed, and the patient sat in bed for four days; hence basically had to regain the leg and ability to walk again. 2. Medications are not provided as prescribed or on schedule. Hence, patients suffer in pain for no reason. 3. Patient's call buttons go unanswered for over an hour. 4. Patients under assistance required to get out of bed are lying in bed and only assisted to the toilet once a day. They are urinating in diapers at other times. (see # 3, all lights are not answered.) 5. Patients do not receive food as ordered. Tomato soup and grilled cheese seem to be the daily offerings, as the menu choices are not available. 6. Drinking water is not changed daily; patients receive a large water bottle filled with ice water when they arrive, which is a nice touch. Don't expect the water to be changed anytime soon. 7. The patient's bathroom smells like urine. 8. Patients, not moms, wheel themselves up and down the hallway looking for a CNA or nurse. I feel bad for those who don't have a loved one looking out for them. I wish I read the other reviews before moving Mom to this place. I hope others also report this place to the governing board at https://www.hhs.texas.gov/providers/health-care-facilities-regulation/file-a-complaint-against-a-health-facility-or-health-care-regulation-representative We are working with the insurance company to move to a different facility. Worst place ever. They had issues with my medication while I was there and when I was discharged they were supposed to call my medication in to my pharmacy but they didn't do that. I am in the process of getting a new primary care doctor so I can't get my medication until then. Called them several times to have them call them in but they just give me the runaround. I think I'll be out of here by the end of this week. Last night the med nurse came by around 7 & said "I hope you have water" & proceeded to give me a water bottle that was on my windowsill & I said that water is 3 days old, I'm not drinking that. She said I'll be right back, I need to find a cup. 2 hours passed, so I asked another nurse where she went...comes back & said "she's still looking for a cup". I said why didn't she just refill my water bottle with fresh ice water??? Duh! The other nurse gave me fresh water & the med nurse finally came back. I have some blood & wound secretions on my sheets from when they were re-dressing, so 2 days ago the nurses aid asked me if I minded that or do you want me to change your sheets? I said I would like them changed...the dirty sheets are still on the bed! Another one told me I had to call administration to order smaller hospital gowns! WTF! This place is whacked read more

I would give ZERO stars if I could! the WORST medical rehab ever. My elderly mother was there for weeks with a broken pelvis. From the start there was negligence. First issue, there is no button or anyway for someone who needs help and is bed ridden to call for help! It's a rehab facility! She sat for 13 hours one day waiting for a nurse or doctor to come in. She called me screaming in pain and sobbing. She said she SCREAMED for help for at least 4 hours. No one came. She had broken her pelvis in 3 places only 2 days before this. Unfortunately this was not the only time this happened. They also were unable to transfer her meds from the hospital For days and days. Her anti depressant, bipolar, thyroid, cholesterol meds, were not given to her for 5 days. I luckily knew where she kept them in her home, and was able to drive to pick up her keys, then drive an hour to her home, then come back an hour. What a waste! They could have been prepared. There are many other issues including lazy, rude and negligent staff, unsanitary practices that I saw with my own eyes. One of the nurses actually yelled very loudly at my bed ridden 74 year old mother. Many things went wrong on their part and my mom requested a chat with the higher ups. It tells you in the pamphlet and on the website where to go if you have problems, so she did. Not one call back. She called many times. I also called many times to try and communicate that she was in severe pain and it was negligent to refuse her meds. No one to answer the calls! There were small things like not being able to get in the building when they were clearly open but no one was there to let people in if the door wasn't working, nurses saying they would wait outside the door while using the bedside potty then disappearing, leaving a full potty next to her bed at head level for the entire day. Also, someone should have been there to help her get up and off of the potty) Seems like a nice place until you stay there! Don't fall for it. I couldn't find ANY reviews of the place, because there are none... pretty convenient. This will probably be erased as well, because once I started to talk to others about it I started to hear HORROR stories about the same place! UNACCEPTABLE. They should be put out of business. My 90-year-old mother had a hip replacement and went here for rehab. I would not ever recommend this facility to anyone!. After 5-days in the rehab this group finally decided to clean her incision area with Betadine. They still had not bathed her for over 5-days and when I asked one of the staff (maybe nurse's aide, or nurse) said that they did not have time to bath all the patients and they may get her bathed the next week. She said she was asserting herself. Her name was Makeda. Mom was in the facility 13-days and had 1-shower and the sheets were never changed. I had to clean her room and empty trash several times and bring her fresh food because the nutritional value of the food was POOR. Consisting of mostly canned goods and not much of anything was fresh. The one thing that really got me is that they refused to give her any more baby aspirin or Tylenol in the last 2-days she was there. They told her she was not going to get any more. There were some nice workers and Mom liked her PT team. I ASKED 4-TIMES FOR A LIST OF MEDS THEY WERE GIVING HER AND THEY WOULD NOT GIVE IT TO ME!
