This place is the absolute worst. They actually had some good employees and they fired them. Some of the people there were wonderful, but they are managed by Spring Hills and they only care about the bottom dollar. On many occasions they did not give my father his medication. They did not shower him as often as they said they would. His skin was always in horrible shape. My mother and I were there every other day, sometimes more and I think that's the only reason he got the level of care that he did. They never shaved him. They were understaffed all the time. They don't pour the water to them, so that was the start of my father's decline. When I confronted the asst manager about seeing my father's medical records after his death...it miraculously took 2 hours for him to produce that. We were told by a woman we trusted that the man was in the back editing it to show he had been given all his meds. The first huge red flag was they didn't give Jim his meds the first night there and my mother and I sat in the lobby for an hour trying to get someone to help us get dad his medication. Please don't go to this place or any Spring Hill facility, they don't care about your loved one, only the bottom dollar. You will constantly have staff turnover and never any answers! Oh, and the literal nail in my father's coffin... they didn't call me when they sent him out (his final ride on EMS) to the ER. A nurse that loves Dad texted me asking how he was and I said "I don't know, you're with him". She said "no they took him out last night". I asked where and THEY HAD NO RECORD OF WHICH HOSPITAL!!! So, my father with dementia was brought in with no medical records, no nothing and had been sitting not able to breath and on a CPAP for 8 hrs alone when I was only 30 minutes away! I got there as soon as I found out. We spent the next 30 hours at his beside with him as he died from pneumonia, sepsis, and a heart attack. And we never heard from the director of the facility so much as an "I'm sorry for your loss". We were told we would get our refund in 45 days... it was 4 months later. Awful humans. read more

We made a tough decision to move our loved-one from a facility where care giving caused us many concerns. We were frustrated with numerous falls, over several months, resulting in serious injuries. The proposed solution was to hire private-pay nursing, around the clock, which increased care costs tremendously! Moving into Poet's Walk brought about an immediate improvement! The medical team is alert and engaged. Within days, a speech therapist identified swallowing problems and made recommendations to modify her diet. Physical therapists identified diminished core strength and adjusted her care plan accordingly. The nursing team is alert and engaged, bringing us peace and lifting tremendous worry! Gibran Chambers is a "hands-on" Executive Director and he can be seen interacting with both residents and staff throughout the facility! Marvin Smith, Lauren Urbanek, and Kelsey Lang are the reasons we selected Poet's Walk--they responded correctly to the myriad of questions we asked. Further, they went above-and-beyond, working long hours to insure a comfortable and joyful transition between facilities. We can't say enough good things about our experience! read more

We moved my 92 yr old mother from a facility in the Washington DC suburbs to Poet's Walk in Cedar Park. Needless to say we were quite worried and concerned with this huge move. But we didn't have to worry because Poet's Walk staff, caregivers and everyone in this facility, are totally dedicated to the well being, happiness and loving care of all the residents. Mom smiles, calls PW family and has transitioned smoothly. And all is due to the effort and love of at PW. PW is also bright, clean with beautiful flowers, sunny courtyards and happy. When it comes to your loved ones and figuring out the best course of action for them in their senior years, it is a very serious time for thinking. Poet's Walk is the 5th nursing home for my father. He has been catatonic and non-responsive for several years, and has been in a nursing facility for almost 8. 5 homes in 8 years should tell you something about the 'quality' of care for ANY of the Cedar Park memory care homes, but I would like to dive into Poet's Walk (PW), specifically. Two years ago we had had enough of the lack of care and concern, and lack of detail to bodily cleanliness from a memory care place in Cedar Park. We discovered PW and after talking with the director and being told everything great about the place and the level of care he would receive, my mother had made up her mind that this is the final place for Dad. "He will be treated great and we won't have to move him, again". During my father's time at PW, we have noticed a continual decline in the level of care he was receiving. He wasn't being shaved as often as we were paying for him to be. He wasn't being bathed as often as he should have been. Every time my mother would go visit, she would call and tell me that his head looks as though he has Cradle Cap. I don't like to hear about my father being ignored when it comes to daily cleanliness. When Mom would have an issue, she would talk to the director. This man speaks with a silver tongue. When you sit with him, he can make you feel like you are the most important visitor in his facility. When you leave his office, you feel like you've got your pop in the right place. At one point during his stay, my father needed medication. The nurse called my mother and told her his prescription would be ready that afternoon and the pharmacy. My mother drove to the pharmacy. The pharmacy had not received any calls for refills, nor any faxes. So my mother called and explained that to the nurse. The next day the nurse called my mother and said his meds would be ready, but at a different pharmacy. My mother went to that pharmacy. They, too, did not have the medication. When my mother called back, the nurse informed her that my father had been out of his meds for 30 days. ONE WHOLE MONTH! The nurse continued that it would be in Mom's best interest to get the medicine from the pharmacy. The next day, the nurse told my mother the medicine was ready at a DIFFERENT pharmacy. This pharmacy was not on the list of approved pharmacies in my father's profile with PW. This was an out-of-market pharmacy from his insurance policy. My mother paid FULL PRICE for the medication and got it to my dad, because at this point he had been out 32 days. PW never called prior to the medication ending to tell anyone that he needed more. They let him run out. THEY LET HIM RUN OUT! I had been buying and supplying PW with all of my father's diapers and cleaning wipes. I was buying enough that he would have 40+ extra every month. This went on for around 5 months. At the 6th month of me supplying his toiletries, I did my usual purchasing and had it sent to the nursing home. I purchased on the 3rd and they were delivered on the 6th. On the 18th of the month, I get a call that my father is out of diapers. I asked how and was told he just went through them. I decided to speak to the director. In my conversation with him, he told me it is not uncommon for any patient to go through 10 a day. Okay, that would be 120 diapers... there's still 40 left from the package as I purchase 160/mo. Additionally, we have a 5 months of leftovers at roughly 40/mo, so 200. That 200 should have carried him through this entire month and part of next, and I still had 160 that I bought. I asked him if he put that supply into his PW stock for all residents to use. He assured me he didn't. But I have dealt with liars in my profession and can tell when I am being lied to. This man with a silver tongue was splitting that tongue in two. Recently, we have discovered that those residents who have to have their food pureed have not been able to eat as often. Orderlies just don't want to deal with it. My father's shoulders are bony and his legs are really skinny. We've also heard of allegations of recent elderly abuse from orderlies to other residents. We have since moved him to a new facility... his 6th. PW is a servant only to corporate greed. He cares not about the residents in his care. Poet's Walk should certainly look into this facility and remove the toxic cancer at all levels and return this place to one of caring attitudes. read more

We have had nothing but trouble here. Do not put your loved one in here. We didn't see my mother in law for 9 months due to covid. About 2 months ago they finally made it possible to talk six feet apart but she is pretty hard of hearing so that wasn't practical. She died on Thursday and we had an appointment to finally see her on Saturday. They wouldn't let me go in with my husband to view her body! We had to go separate. They drafted the wrong account 3 times, even after I called and tried to speak with the finance lady there. She would't talk to me on the phone. They are charging us daily even though my MIL is deceased because her medical supplies are still in the room. We have called the supply company multiple times over Christmas holiday and can't get it picked up. They don't care to work with us. Someone took the wreath off her door that we gave her and no one seems to be able to find her red seated walker that we bought her even though all her things had her name on them. A couple of the individuals over there are very nice but as a group it's horrible. Very little communication when something goes wrong and zero accountability. We wanted an autopsy done as well but they said CPD wouldn't come out so after she laid there from 9:00-2:00 we finally gave up and had the funeral home pick her up. DO NOT COME HERE read more
