Wonderful little hair salon tucked away in the hustle of Vienna! I've been trusting my hair for a couple of years at a salon in Herndon; however, since moving to Fairfax, I needed a closer salon. Heart has my heart! I love this girl! So I moved from LA to DC recently and I loved by hair dresser in LA and was terrified that I would not find someone I liked in the area but I was in desperate need of a haircut so I took the plunge. OMG guys Heart is A-MA-ZING!!! I told her what I wanted and she went above and beyond. She gave me these amazing balayage highlights but the haircut was what blew me away. We arrived at the shop for the first time, with Groupons. The other reviewers are correct, this place is great. Our highlights and color turned out just the way we had wanted. I love this place! I had Heart as my hairstylist. She's very friendly and ACTUALLY listens to what you want. She said she was an art student so maybe that's where her attention to detail comes from. She was able to thin out my short hair in a way where there's a very feminine silky look and fixed my undercut. She's also super fun to talk to! Heart was very rude and hurtful to one of my best friends. My friend has a slight amount of dandruff and her scalp was a little oily from not getting all the shampoo and conditioner out, a common hair texture stylists should be used to. Heart made her feel like she was a dirty person with a fungi infection, and claimed she wouldn't work with her because of it. Heart, where did you get your medical license to diagnose someone with a false diagnoses? Did you feel bad when you made her cry, or is that normal for you to make people feel uncomfortable and insecure? Thank goodness my friend left, she found a nicer stylist that made her feel confident and beautiful, as they should. read more

My appointment was for Wednesday 5pm, but I called and see if I can get one today (Tuesday). Heart was very accommodating, she managed to fit me in for 2:15 PM, I work about 10 minutes away so it was no issue getting there. Before the haircut, I told her I want to donate 8.5 inches (it's the paper length and I didn't bring a ruler, so that'll do). Then I showed her what style I wanted and asked for her suggestions and recommendations. She was very helpful and told me how I should style my hair to look like the picture I brought in. This is the first time I got my hair cut without wetting the hair first. I actually don't mind that at all, it's actually better that way, at least I'll know the final length of my cut will be. In addition, I know that I won't be getting bangs, it just doesn't work well with me. The entire process took about 30-40 minutes. I'm happy with my cut and her price is very reasonable. I pay $35 + Tip. It'll be a while before my next cut, and I'll definitely come back. read more

I called to book an appointment about 2 weeks about an ash brown balayage and Heart advised me with the high maintenance of an ashy tone, making sure I knew exactly what I was getting into. She was also very flexible with her schedule as I had to change my appointment a few days before, but she was willing to have me in the next day. When I got to the salon she thinned out my hair with layers, bleached, and toned my hair. Heart could tell I was worried since it was my first time dying my hair so she made the effort to ease my worries every step of the way! She's very easy to talk to and really cares for your hair. I cannot believe I haven't found this place sooner! I had Heart as my hair stylist and she was phenomenal! I came in with and idea of what I wanted and showed her pictures of a brown-blond balayge ombre. She gave me a honest consultation and told me that the color I wanted was too light for my skin and would wash me out. I agreed with her and told her I wanted something low maintenance, yet a bit of color since I'm tired of my plain dark brown hair. She showed me several pictures of what she did to her past clients and we both agreed to do a balayge warm brown color that would fit my low maintenance need. I really appreciate Heart setting the expectations for her client and giving her own opinion of what she think is best, and she sure delivered!! There is no question about her superb technical skills, but what I enjoy most during my appointment is how easily we got along with each other. It was like I was having a conversation with an older sister. She really is such a sweet heart. On another note, I would like to review the other aspects of this salon: Location- It was a bit confusing to find the entrance to the hair salon as it was located to the left of Burke & Herbert Bank and you have to walk up the stairs. They do have parking near the salon. Salon- this is such a cute salon. All of the equipment are modern. There are 3 hair dressers and 2 hair washing stations. The place isn't big by any means but it definitely felt very welcoming. Pricing- The prices for a cut and color is very affordable. You should definitely call for a quote on the services but for a balayge with a hair cut is between $160-$180 (depending on length and texture of your hair). Ease of booking appointments- I called on a Friday and was able to get an appointment with Heart on Monday. I was surprised that she had room for me since it was a bit of a late notice. I believe they take appointments only and walk-ins can be a bit difficult, especially since they are pretty busy throughout the day. They do have a 48 hour cancellation policy. Overall experience: 5/5. You got a loyal customer. read more

I came in for a haircut and balayage with Kaya. Since I was getting highlights she gave me a dry haircut first. I was nervous that my layers wouldn't be cut correctly since I had never had a dry haircut before but they came out great! Probably one of my best haircuts yet. There was some miscommunication about the color of my highlights but after being there for four hours, Kaya and Heart patiently fixed my hair until I was 100% happy. Heart is one of the best hairstylists I've been to :) She gave me exactly what I wanted and recommended different styles that went well with my face shape. She's also really easygoing and fun to talk to! It almost felt like I was visiting a friend lol Anyways, I asked for a balayage ombre but my hair was too short...so she suggested a different type of style (which worked perfectly for my overgrown bob). I can't say enough great things about Heart, the stylist who runs this salon. I have been a loyal client of hers for almost 4 years (and yes I strayed once or twice and paid the price - came back crawling back to her). That is, until my eyebrow lady recommended me to Heart. Heart is a great listener and knowledgeable in what she does. She gave me an amazing fix. My hair was jacked up.
