Disgusting! While waiting to be seated, two of us watched the Cashier/Manager (with his back to us, at the kitchen) using his bare hands to get cooked sausages from a bowl and put them on a couple of plates before sending them to the customers. He wiped his hands on his pants! Then, he came to the cash register and handled change for paying customers. Yuck! We quietly exited and had a good laugh at him and this IHOP as we scooted for the car. Customers, BEWARE! We bet that he handled more foods afterwards. This place was all kinds of disgusting. We came in for my husband's bday and as soon as we walked in. We were hit with the overwhelming odor of sweat and I don't know what else. When we were finally sat down, I could see the chef from where I was. He was wearing headphones as well as being able to see the waitresses texting and talking on their phones. It took about 35min to get our food, most of which was inedible. My son couldn't even finish his Mac n cheese. :( Even worse, when we got home, my husband and I started vomiting from food poisoning after eating from this place. Stopped in for early morning breakfast. Older female server with nose ring comes out to take our party of three order. We go around the table and place our drink order, comes back around to me and I start to place my food order when I look up and realize the server is walking away... Me: Ma'am? Ma'am?? (Subtle whistle) She turns around and gives me a look from hell...oops! Me: Can we place our food order??? Her: (No comment) Me again: Bad day?? Her: No, just don't appreciate people whistling at me. Me: sorry, I did try to grab your attention by saying ma'am 2x. Her: (fake smile and proceeds to take food order) From that point on I received death stares from her the rest of our stay, but she never did return to our table. When the food was ready, instead of her bringing it out, she sent a cook to the table with the plates. I'm not one to judge people on physical appearance until the point where one's cleanliness and sanitation affect me and then I draw the line. The cook who brought us our orders (short, long hair, no upper front teeth) while uber polite had long fingernails with a repulsive amount of dirt under them and to make matters worse he had no gloves on and his fingers were touching portions of our food. Hard to say whether he was wearing gloves at the time our meal was being prepared on the line. Needless to say, some of the party was so disgusted their food was sent back. I elected to keep my entree and test my immune system. Those plates sent back were given to the hostess who had come out and asked if everything was okay. We explained our story and she not only removed those particular orders from the bill but zero'd out the entire bill. I thanked her and ensured "she" received a tip. No manager on duty at 7:30am to report the problem so hopefully he/she gets this feedback now. read more

I am giving this IHOP a 5 because of its overall consistency, cleanliness, and good service each time I have eaten here. I have visited different times and ordered different plates, never had an issue with food or service. I always get a smile and polite service, even when in a rush. One time, I came in on a Sunday morning (with Saturday night not completely out of my system yet) needing water, good food, and was offered Tylenol when I ordered breakfast. This was my first time trying IHOP's home delivery. Truth is, the potatoes were almost liquid, the entire meal was barely warm, and needed to be reheated to eat. I come here kind of frequently before I go to work at subway, and the staff are always kind to me they have a great sense of humor and I usually don't have to wait long for my food to come and if I do they're quick to apologize and make sure the rest of my time is worth it! Took the kids here one Sunday morning when we were in Anchorage at about 10 am. Normally that's a suicidal time to go to IHOP anywhere. They were busy but moving people thru so we stayed. I have to say, the food was typical IHOP, some good, some lukewarm but all passable. I was impressed that they had a lot of staff there for Sunday morning and our service was excellent. I saw others waiting longer and can only guess we had the best waitress. You could tell she's done this thing for a long time - she knew how to consolidate her trips to the tables. I was there less than a year ago. The servers left me and my daughter sitting waiting to be seated even though there were open tables and they were just standing gabbing. I spoke with the manager on the phone who apologized and offered to send a gift certificate and it was never received. I attempted to reconnect but contact ignored. Today me and my husband went to eat there for breakfast and during our meal he bit into something hard. Went he went spit it out we noticed that it was an acrylic nail in the middle of his pancakes. The manager there tried to make us pay for the food but I refused and he got mad and our waiter told us we did not need to pay for it. The service is not even service, it's just people standing around doing nothing but wasting your time and money. The management, or at least what you can call management, doesn't even seem like they know what they are doing, let alone that they care what's going on. It was busy which is natural on a Sunday so I can see how it's easy to get confused when the hostess and manager are both trying to seat customers. I am not impressed with this specific IHOP. When I first came to Anchorage this IHOP had great food with good service. But as the years have gone so has there food. I also can tell by there staff that this IHOP is on its way to becoming the typical low standard restaurant. For example my cheese eggs where not hot and the cheese was not melted. The pancakes were cold, I mean the butter wasn't even melting on them. The amount of sauce that went with my dish was sent to me in a very conservative amount and it was cold. Burgers are decent but the service is horrible. The workers were arguing loudly right in front of everyone to hear. Eventually a manager had to intervene and mediate their argument lmao. That didn't stop the rude back and forth commentary between the two men on that particular shift. My husband and I weren't too upset at the time it took for our burgers to get to us since we had a live dramady to watch (they were so loud you couldn't ignore it if you tried). The best part of my dinner was when our server came over to take the food off of our table and said, " Lemme take this sh*t out of your way". This ihop is the slowest ihop I've ever ordered from. I ordered delivery online and it took over a hour to get my food.. my husband called trying to figure out what was taking so long, everybody was confused and had no answers for us.. they kept saying we will call back in a couple minutes, but took them over 20 mins to call back the first time then they just didn't call back after they said they would the second time.. so we had to contact door dash ourselves to find anything out. all we wanted was our delivery fee refunded and our food made fresh and we were just gonna go pick it up.. but instead ihop manager just did what he wanted to do. We also let them know we were located on base and he told us to put in the notes that we needed someone who can get on base to deliver our food, so we did of course. Then we later found out that the lady's visitor pass expired 6 days ago and we had to meet her at the gate.. we didn't get no discount no nothing for this inconvenience... Awesome service yesterday. We were seated almost instantly, and our waiter was very cool. He offered to waive the cost on the drinks he served us after our kid momentarily got sick, showed patience while we decided whether or not to stay, and then gave us a couple of small bowls of fruit for our unruly ones. Food use to be banging but no longer is. Food is nasty now or either not cooked or sloppy cooking. I got the steak tips and eggs and asked for the meat to be well done and no cheese on my eggs since I can't have cheese and the waitress with red or burgundy hair orders cheese on my eggs and my meat was med rare and she says that is how they always make me and I told her can I have some eggs with no cheese and she said I guess and went to her colleague and got mad for her mistake. And then they placed me and my family at a table that was ready and said your server will be here shortly and we waited 15 minuets and she comes to is do you know what you want we'll i guess let me start you off with some drinks do you know and before I said no she says hold that thought I'll be back and then we had a different waitress. The food at this one (the new one) was not even close to being cold, the vegetables (brockley) were dry and rubbery, the t-bone tsteak was just disgusting. It had virtually no flavor at all. Absolutely the worst service I've ever received at any franchise breakfast joint. We first visited this ihop on a Saturday morning around 1100am with a party of five. Given the day and time we arrived, we all expected a significant wait time. However we only waited to be seated for approximately 20 minutes or less. Not bad in my opinion for a Saturday morning. Where the rating takes a huge nose-dive begun once we were seated. From the time the hostess seated us, it seriously took 14 minutes for the waitress to arrive and take our drink order. Now, I only started tracking the time once I felt it was a ridiculous wait and just that block was 14 minutes. From there we waited 16 minutes to actually receive our drinks and a total of 43 minutes to receive our food from when we placed our orders. This is an astronomical wait time given the size if the wait staff, regardless of the day. Though I recognize that our particular waitress may have been new and perhaps some of the cooks, we decided to give it another shot. This time the husband and I went on a week day around 830am. Zero wait time for a booth, in fact, there were more open seating than taken so not busy at all. Given my previous encounter, I started the timer immediately. This time an 8 minute wait for drink order and 8 minutes to receive the drinks after we placed our beverage order. This part boggles my mind, because as we were waiting for drinks, we saw three wait staff shooting the breeze by the register laughing it up. Wtf??!!! Once we placed our food order it only took 15 minutes to have the plates in front of us which is significantly sooner than our previous visit. I will say that overall the good quality is good, the facility is clean, but the service of the staff is unsatisfactory which to me, warrants 2 stars. The poor service outshines the good food, as experience can ruin it all. read more
