Barstow. So many places to eat at but nowhere really to eat at. Does that make sense?? I'm not a fan of fast food places like McDonald's or Del Taco where everything is super processed. So based on my choices, I rationalized that IHOP would have the least processed food. They probably use real eggs, right? I can't remember the last time that I ate at IHOP. We were seated promptly, but it took a little bit to get a mug for my coffee. The carafe was just sitting on the table, but I had no access. :0( I can't believe EVERYTHING was so expensive for what seemed like the identical thing each of the pictures. $12 for what??? My husband and I decided to share a 2 egg simple breakfast with 2 slices of bacon, 2 hash browns, and 2 slices of toast. Yes, $12!! The coffee was hot but it was MEH. The WORST IHOP yet... I wish I went across the street to Denny's... We got seated right away.. But waited 15 minutes before I called for a server.. I saw the table next to us and it looked like they were here maybe 5 minutes before we got here and they didn't get their food until I ordered mine... As my friends and I pulled into Barstow to charge our Tesla at the local supercharging station, we were famished, and the majority of us became excited at the sight of the ihop that was across the street from the charging station. One friend was hesitant and pleaded that we go to El Pollo Loco instead, but we dismissed him because it was barely 10 am. After the horrible experience we had at ihop, we should have listened to our friend and gone to El Pollo Loco instead, or AT LEAST Denny's. First off, the place was definitely not busy (50% full at most), and we were placed in a booth off to the side of the restaurant. We were greeted by our waiter who, honestly, was not the brightest bulb on the planet. We asked her for two minutes to look at the menu, and she returned maybe 15 minutes later with water for us, which we had asked for upon being seated. She takes our order, and we wait patiently for our food for about thirty more minutes before we start getting restless. Groups that got seated after us got their food and started eating when we were there well before them. We start wondering what is going on when we see a group of waitresses and their manager around the register, and we have a feeling that something happened with our food. By now, it has been at least 45 minutes since the waitress took our order, and we did not receive any information on the status of our food, or refills on our water, despite all the waiters darting concerned looks towards our table. Perhaps, if they had been the ones to initiate a conversation with us, and told us what was going on, we would have been a little more understanding in writing this review. However, that was not the case. We had to flag down a waitress and ask about the status of our food, because we still haven't gotten our food, or more water since apparently they expect water to appear out of thin air or expect us to wait for our ice to melt, who knows? This waitress was very nice, apologized and went to go see what was happening in the kitchen. She returned shortly after saying that something happened with the printer in the kitchen and that our food was being prepared now. We wait about fifteen minutes more for our food, and when we finally get it, we cannot help but notice that the food was just sloppily thrown on a plate and looked disgusting, and did not taste great either. We do not even care at this point because we are so hungry from the drive, the wait, and the LACK OF WATER. Next time, we will listen to our friend and go to El Pollo Loco instead. read more

Horrible. Stopped here Thursday on the way to Las Vegas and had decent service and food, but today the food and service was horrible. Had to wait for a table while the server finish filling syrup bottles. The waitress, if you can call her that, named Brianna seemed totally lost. Soup was luke warm, she never brought my side of mayo and I went behind the counter to get ketchup. Arg! Literally came in with no one else in the restaurant. As soon as we set down 6 other groups came in. Everyone waited for about an hour to get their food. Everyone complained and left angry. Some of our food came out wrong, some came out cold and some was just overcooked. The burger pattie tasted like shoe leather, the potato pancakes were cold and tasted like they were made in some old rancid oil. And again we waited for an hour to get this food. We were about to leave after 40 minutes but were told the food was coming right out. Nope, we did not complain just paid the $40 we owed and left. I even wanted to leave a tip but the young lady seemed to busy and I only had $4 for the tip, so I left it and we left. Late night. Wanted to sit and eat something other than burgers. Saw the open sign. It was 9:30ish. Place looked empty and dark, but walked and stared to enter thru unlocked doors. Open sign was on but as I entered the person pointed at her watch and mouthed that they were closing. Really looked like they had been closed for a long time. If u don't care about business why bother to open at all. Won't be considering this place as an option to eat...ever. Try Arby's down the street. It was our next try. When I was small I loved IHOP, and It was quite the novelty at the time and a special treat for a Sunday breakfast ... the extensive menu with exotic pancakes and a half dozen different flavored syrups. Yummy.....for anyone's tummy, especially kids who loved sweets! The last time I ate at IHOP it was one of the most miserable meals of my life not to mention the terrible service and the fact they tried to steal my gift card( telling me it had a zero balance when it did not) and tried to keep the card). It had not only gone downhill it had gone down to hell ... the chocolate shake that I ordered not to mention that they had pictured and advertised was watery half melted and didn't have the chocolate drizzle like pictured. Once our food arrived it was cold and the bread on the sandwiches was crunchy from sitting out( either that or the mayo was old and made me throw up). The turkey sandwich was from a frozen turkey breast pressed together, the b.l.t had stale bread and old soggy tomatoes, the Mac and cheese looked dry like it was under the heat lamp for hrs. When we went to pay I handed the waitress a gift card ( I checked the balance before I gave it to her) and my debit card I said to use the gift card first. She brought back my debit card and the check. The full amount was on my debit card and didn't return my gift card. Long story short . The manager even said the gift card was empty! I told they I wanted my gift card card back . Finally found it not in register but under.... hmmmm... and there was still money on it. Bigger hmmm. Came for lunch. We got seated 12:05 PM. We were finally served at 12:12 pm. We only order breakfast here. I always get the same thing here. Poached eggs with either crisp bacon or sausage with maple syrup drizzled over it. A cup or 2 of their coffee. The servers are extremely friendly too. Can't beat it. read more

When we had to use the restroom they really enforced that we couldnt use it until we ordered and got the bill. Came here on a Thursday around 2PM and was instantly surprised by how quiet this diner was. It was as quiet as a library! It shocked me since there were about 20 people eating! I almost felt like I needed to whisper. Patty melt was phenomenal, but the turkey wrap and the steaks were so-so. What really blew us away was the service provided by Anna. She was so friendly and worked her tail off! She was the only server (they didn't have a host) and handled all the tables herself.
