There was a hair on one of our plates. The food was good though and the service was nice. Unfortunately, there were no paper towels in the men's bathroom.

It was so hot and fresh! I enjoyed it!

So good and fresh! I'll be back again without my kids again! :-) customer service was great too!

I've eaten at this take over IHOP three times. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad experience. The food and the service have always been top notch.

Ihop has been around for decades and I've been devouring their pancakes since I was a baby back in 1961. They used to be International House Of Pancakes way back then. No matter what their name is they do have the best pancakes in the USA no doubt about that and crowned with whipped butter and warmed maple syrup OMG !!! I love that you get a whole insulated pot of coffee when you order coffee and unlimited pots. I love the coffee also. Went again for breakfast today, my breakfast was delicious. I had the 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, choice of meat and choice of grits or hashbrowned potatoes. My eggs were perfectly cooked over medium just as I ordered them, my pancakes were perfect and crowned with the whipped butter, my bacon was perfectly cooked. My grits could of used some more salt so that's why I gave a 4 instead of a 5 ! Service was amazing but this location is usually really great service !

Worst iHop in BR.!! Every single time i have ordered from this place, my order was incorrect. I ordered a simple order, Burger..No tomato, no pickle..burger had NO ONIONS(which i love on my burgers) & LOADED with pickles.!! It can't be THAT hard to follow an order.

The sandwiches were fresh and packed with flavor, the pot pies were rich, creamy, and pure comfort food, and the appetizers were the perfect start to the meal. The whipped Parmesan mashed potatoes deserve their own standing ovation. They were unbelievably creamy, cheesy, and easily some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. And don't even get me started on the sweet pies... BOMB! They were the perfect ending to an already amazing meal. To top it all off, our waitress, Sophie C, was an absolute gem! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure our entire experience was perfect from start to finish. If you're anywhere near Baton Rouge, do yourself a favor and eat at Elsie's Plate & Pie. We'll definitely be back for the food the people and the ambiance!

(Visiting from out of town). Expected a wait, 20 minutes, no problem! Another 15 to place our order, and another 25 to receive our food. We were there over an hour before we got any food. Ooffff... it's fine. We're laid back and can roll with the punches-they're busy and staff was friendly-it'll all be worth it when the food rocks our socks. Sadly...no. Both grilled cheeses (entrees) were room temp and the cheese was already hardening. It felt as if they had forgotten to deliver the food. Waitress was so kind and took the one off our check. It was appreciated. Boudin balls were great!! Bedford and remoulade sauces were okay. Parmesan potatoes were good!! Brussel sprouts and fries were fine-would have been better if served hot, I think. We did the pie flight and they were all good. Not mind blowing, but good. I always give out second chances-public service and food service is tough and sometimes you just have off days. Worth checking out if you live in town!! But if you're just passing through, maybe just get some pie to go.

It's Simple as the name suggests…read more Nothing fancy or elaborate about this place. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

Instead, I was trying to meet a friend for lunch and he was so late that we couldn't get in where were trying to go. I saw the sign and off we went to Simple Joe Cafe. Simple, it is. Awesome food, it also is. This place is not fancy nor is it meant to be. This is a solidly Americana type menu and ordering at the counter, serving your own coffee, and picking your own table kind of place. AKA - the kind of place I love. I have been here a few times now and only had breakfast. Hint: they serve it all day. The two meat omelet is a great choice and has been my go-to. The other day some friends got burgers and a club sandwich and those looked great too. This will definitely be in the rotation for lunch.

We took our mom here for her birthday in early June. The service was okay at this restaurant. There was nothing that stood out in particular about the service, it was pretty average. The food at this restaurant all tasted great. I tried their fried green tomatoes appetizer as well as their golden fried alligator which was delicious. I got the jerk fried chicken with red beans and rice and smoked sausage for my entree and it was good. I was expecting my chicken to be spicy or to at least taste like jerk seasoning but it didn't at all. It was more like a BBQ sauce with no heat at all. The menu was also very lacking to me, we all felt that it was missing items or needed more. I wish there was more of a variety of items to choose from especially for those allergic to shellfish or vegetarian.

Fair warning you'll probably need a nap afterward. The restaurant has a sharp, modern aesthetic and is consistently spotless. The Service: This is one of the few places where the service is truly flawless. The staff is prompt, accommodating, and friendly every single time. My only small knocks on the place is Parking and music. Be prepared to pay for a spot and walk a couple of blocks. Occasionally, the music is a bit too high, which can make having a conversation a little hard. Overall the best lunch stop for downtown.

We will never be going back. Ambiance: The real estate of this establishment is wasted on this restaurant. Beautiful downtown location with a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that look out at pretty foliage and the I-10 bridge. The interior? Dirty, cracking, grease splattered walls with dusty canvas paintings. Service: our waiter was very kind and attentive and should be working in a nicer establishment. The hostess was abrupt and lacked personality. Food: The Food at Capital City Grill has always been inconsistent at best erring on 'not great' but in an endearing way. Like leaning in to watching a terrible movie. You know it's a bad film, but you appreciate it because it's bad, which makes it almost good. Always felt this way about Capital City Grill until today. It was like a cross between eating blueberry pie and blueberry cobbler. The next time I stopped in I ordered the Apple Stuffed Biscuit and it wasn't as good as the Blueberry. I think the Apple one would probably be better if the filling was eaten warmed. I have also tried the Beignets. I ordered a half of each type. The plain was not so great. Just too doughy and blah. The Sweet Potato was better, but I would still rather get the Stuffed Blueberry Biscuit. The sausage patties are made with Mild Jimmy Dean sausage so they are good too - better than the Bacon. The Pancakes are okay too if you aren't in the mood for the Biscuit. The Reese's one was overly sweet and the Pecan was messy and on the drier side but syrup fixed that.
