Let me start by saying it had been a while since I came back to this restaurant, and now I remember why. The service was unfriendly, the food was overpriced, and the overall experience was disappointing from start to finish. We had a party of six and were charged a "large party fee," which would have been fine if it had been explained upfront. Then there was an additional fee just for using a card. I ordered the table beignets, and they tasted more like fried biscuits than the beignets they used to serve. My son ordered a chicken waffle and was asked if he wanted bacon(2pc) on the side, assuming it came with the meal, only to later find out it was an extra charge that was never explained. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which used to be my favorite dish here, and it was terrible. The only flavor was Worcestershire sauce and green onions. Nothing about it tasted fresh or balanced. The restaurant itself was not clean. The floors were sticky, and the tables were so wobbly our drinks kept sloshing out. We finally had to shove napkins under the table leg just to keep it stable. To top it off, we never received one of the drinks we ordered or the extra bread we asked for. For just me and my son to eat brunch, the bill came to over $72. I truly hate leaving bad reviews, but between the poor attitudes, dirty floors, lack of service, surprise fees, and bad food, this place earned it. There are too many better brunch spots in Baton Rouge to waste your money here. And one last thing -- if you're going to charge a party fee, charge it fairly across the table instead of sticking certain people with more because they ordered more food. Do better. read more

Went to Another Broken Egg for brunch and had a great experience. My friend has celiac disease and can't have gluten, and the staff was very attentive about it. They accidentally added regular toast to her plate, but a staff member (who wasn't even our server) noticed immediately, pointed it out, and took it back to get her a gluten-safe replacement. He was incredibly kind and genuinely caring, which meant a lot, because most places don't notice or don't take it seriously. Our food was great and the overall service was excellent. The restaurant was also clean (including the floors not sticky, which is a win). I really appreciate that they offer gluten-free options and actually pay attention. And we are back up a star. My only issue on this visit was how much everyone called me "baby" and "sweetheart". Now look. I was a "baby" server once, and I believe I had a manager come in and correct that behavior. I only expect to be called baby, in New Orleans. From the front door to the table top, my name of reference was "baby". The restaurant manager in me, just doesn't agree with that culture that's there now. But my food was good, my service was fine. We were in town and called ahead to confirm they had regular hours and check the wait, as it was Easter Sunday. They said to sign up online, check inside when we got here. We were about 10 minutes away, and even on a busy day, really didn't have to wait long to get a text our table was ready. Despite being packed, workers were nice, answered questions, atmosphere was lovely. Spacious parking area too, but watch out, entrance/exit can be a bit hectic. It was a bit of a wait, but we were having good conversation. Server was so nice, even brought us a complimentary order of beignets. When the food came, it looked lovely, and the tastes matched. As soon as I walked in, the host seemed like she didn't want to be there. I inquired about eating on the patio area but she said they weren't serving out there at the moment so I decided to sit at the bar. The lady at the bar was the only friendly person I came across there. She seemed to be working all by herself but she managed to constantly check in and make recommendations. I had a chocolate milk and the broken egg biscuit with a side of grits add cheese. I was very disappointed with the food. To me, I could've done better at home. There was no flavor, the sauce on the biscuit was close to gelatin which grossed me out but the tenders tasted okay. I felt like I could've saved my money. The Space We were seated immediately at 9am on Sunday so the space is more than ample. It was way too humid but there were a few outdoor areas that some were enjoying. The Eats I partook of the Apricot & Streusel Pancakes: Three house-cakes layered with house-made apricot preserves and topped with fresh blueberries, sweet cream cheese and cinnamon streusel. Served with two eggs any style and choice of baked bacon or house-made sausage patties. I have a pretty good appetite and took half home! Forever the Bayou Boy, my husband chose Mardi Gras Omelette which was filled with Louisiana crawfish, gulf shrimp, andouille and red peppers, topped with tomato hollandaise, tomatoes and green onion. This is about the Another Broken Egg on Perkins Rd. My aunt and I had a terrible customer experience. We used to enjoy eating here often, but due to the treatment we got from the general manager, Emily Our time started off with a long wait time and bad presentation of the meal. My aunt ordered eggs, toast, and hot chocolate. The hot choc took over 15 mins to come, our waiter, Henry, said he "did not have time to make it" and apologized. My question here is why are waiters preparing the hot chocolate instead of kitchen staff? Fountain drinks and water already made I can understand but not a hot cocoa. Anyway, when it arrived, it was watery, microwaved, and clearly too much water. Had no milk, definitely not with the $5. I ordered an omelet that was suppose to include a biscuit and fruit cup. I specifically asked Henry if the fruit was included, and he confirmed it was. But when the bill came, I noticed I was charged extra for the fruit. No big deal but I did not appreciated the dishonesty and considering the fact the fruits were not sweet at all. He admitted it was his mistake and said he would remove the charge along with the hot chocolate, and he apologized for the cold toast, since were unsatisfied. Things took a turn for the worse when the manager Emily came to our table to confront us. Instead of apologizing for the issues, she was very rude, dismissive, and condescending. My aunt's toast was very cold and didn't even come with butter, so we had to ask for some. When we brought it up, Emily went on a strange rant, arguing aggressively that "toast comes out cold all the time no matter where you go", and acted like we've never been to a breakfast restaurant that serves warm toast. Not sure where Emily eats her breakfast, but any decent breakfast restaurant serves warm toast, even Waffle House. Dumbfounded that she made all kind of excuses for this, rather than just apologizing. Disappointing coming from a place that is supposed to be a higher end brunch spot. Also, my fruit side bowl had fruits that were very unsweet. Strawberry and Pineapple being the worst. I brought this up to Emily and she condescendingly asked "when you go to a store and buy unsweet fruits, do you complain?". I was just looking for hear to suggest taking that off the bill, or at the very least a genuine apology for that. To be clear, I buy my fruits from Whole Foods or Trader Joes where fruits are always sweet. To make it worse, when I paid, Emily overcharged me $20, bringing the bill up to what it was suppose to be. When I pointed this out, she denied it, and then later realized the mistake she made. Still did not apologize at all. Claimed she was going to fix it, refused to give us a refund receipt, and so I took a picture of her kiosk screen. Later on I realized she sent the refund to a different card, not mine, which seemed either careless or intentional. The whole interaction escalated when she became more argumentative & unprofessional. At one point, she told me aunt to "shut up" in front of customers and other employees. One of her assistant employees was adamantly defending her without listening to our side of the story. It was a heavier set lady with an apron. If this is how a general manager treats customers, I can only imagine the culture she fosters for the staff. Henry, our waiter, was polite and understanding, but Emily should not be managing the restaurant. I do not recommend eating with the current management, and will sadly not be returning until the owners address Emily properly and take some action. There are other brunch spots in BR that actually care about customer service. Hopefully the owner makes some adjustments. read more

My friends and I have been a few times at this point and never had a perfect experience, however, I do think this most recent visit will be our last. 2/5 of us didn't have a bad experience, per se (I ordered the short ribs, I thought they were good. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles and she enjoyed it). However, their cold brew tasted very milky and wasn't very good. The Godiva pancakes aren't even close to what's pictured on their website; there's no chocolate chips, barely any of that chocolate whip and when she tried to bite it, the pancakes weren't even fully cooked! She asked for a different type (one she'd gotten in the past and enjoyed) but even those didn't turn out right this time One of my friends got an omelet with grits and the grits were just not good... I honestly understand where the low rating of this place comes from. I think if they condensed the menu and made sure those few things were stellar (and their servers could be better, ngl) then I'm sure it would be a better respected brunch place but until that happens, I will be taking my business elsewhere! read more

This restaurant is a short walk from my hotel so I decided to try a lunch there. It sits on the corner of a small mall and it is very nice inside. I was pleased to see how clean and inviting it was. His bright and bubbly personality just made the day brighter. Picked us up better than a cup of coffee after an all-night bender. Next was our breakfast or main course and it was good as well. I had to have some shrimp and grits and that is the most if you go there. It's been a while since I've visited and I've only been to the Perkins location but Citiplace didn't disappoint. We got on the waiting list online and were seated within 5 minutes of our stated timeframe. The waiter (Richard C.) was the best. My drink was brought out immediately and our orders were taken just as fast. They food was out within 5 minutes of ordering and was hot and delicious. The fast turnaround was an added plus because me and my brunch date were hangry. She was very pleasant and playful after a few bites. The plating was appealing, the food was so fulfilling and the atmosphere was inviting...Not too loud and boisterous but not so quiet that it felt awkward either. Definitely will be back. If I could give zero stars I would. I called ahead to make arrangements for a large party, then followed the instructions of the staff to the letter. We arrived at the restaurant and were met with unfriendly staff and racist overtones. I asked for the manager and she was not any better. It was so bad that the younger hostess started secretly apologizing for their behavior. I would not recommend this place for large parties, despite what they tell you over the phone. Stopped by Another Broken Egg for brunch with a friend before she moved for a new job. I've been here a few times and the service can be spotty. The last time i came, we were extremely disappointed in the service. Today though I had Lane G. As my server and he was a pleasure! Lane was attentive, got all of our orders out correctly and in a timely manner. Truly a 5-star employee! I got the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. The fruit was really fresh. Fair warning it is a sweet dish. So if you're sensitive to sweets and want something more savory this might not be for you. It's a sweeter version of French toast. Another one of those instances where I'm finally getting around to take a meal at a place that's very popular here in Baton Rouge - Another Broken Egg's Citiplace location. I ordered the huevos rancheros which came with country potatoes. Since I really only enjoy shredded hash browns, the waitress offered to substitute grits which I appreciated. I also ordered a side order of sausage patties, my go-to indulgence for any breakfast out. The eggs on the huevos rancheros were a bit overcooked, not runny at all. The taste was OK, but it was a difficult bowl to eat. The base of the dish was either tortilla chips or pita chips (couldn't really tell which) covered with black beans, some cheese and then the eggs. On the side they presented a small condiment bowl of salsa and sour cream. The dish definitely needed both as it was on the dry side. The taste of the dish was pleasant enough once you added the salsa and sour cream, the chips were toasted before the dish was layered. Although that added a nice crunch, it was extremely difficult to eat as they were too tough to cut through with a knife and fork and too large to eat without cutting into smaller portions. The grits were okay, nothing to rave about. The sausage patties were not well seasoned and VERY greasy. At the time that I arrived which was on a Monday for breakfast (approximately 8:45 a.m.) there were very few other patrons dining and I was seated at a two-top since I was alone. The small table was not the issue in itself. However, the fact that the table was very wobbly which the waitress noticed but made no attempt to level it out by placing something under one of the legs (or sitting me at another table since plenty were available) - and - the table was extremely sticky from a prior patron did not start off my first visit on a good footing. The menus were sort of worn and also sticky in some parts. All in all the cleanliness of the restaurant was pretty poor considering that they seem to be well staffed and were not busy at the time I was there. I noticed that windows looking out into the front parking lot, as well as the glass front doors were very dirty and smudged thoroughly with fingerprints. Several staff members and hostess were chit-chatting and scanning their phones, no one seemed to be making an effort to clean-up and make the place more presentable during a slow period which certainly apply during my visit. Again, the food was not bad - Just not worth any special mention. Considering that they have a pretty limited breakfast and brunch menu, I'm not sure that I'll be visiting again. I am not a breakfast person but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. You can tell everyone does because there was an hour wait! They have outdoor seating though which is nice, and you can run inside to their bar and buy cold brew coffee for the wait. Which was delicious. We had little kids accompanying us and they loved the kids menu. We ordered the black stone Benedict, a shrimp Benedict, and a brunch burger, with a side of a bananas foster pancake, and city grits all which were super delicious. Our server was so sweet. The whole process tools about 2.5 hours so don't come here if you're in a hurry. read more
