One of the few IHOPs that doesn't close at 10 pm. Our food was excellent, service was a bit slow. We were surprised at the cost. There were several tables of customers and one primary server. Three of us stopped in Monday evening as we had heard how great the burgers are at IHOP in Blue Springs. They were every bit of that and more good food awaited. One wasn't in a burger mood so she said TBone steak. The Pleasant manager suggested she order the steak tips. WOW was she as pleased with those as we were the burgers. In fact, we got an order of the steak tips to go. Well, with the delightful manager and good food that awaits you at this IHOP we will be back often. I usually get breakfast here but for a change I ordered this yummy looking sandwich. I say looking because in the menu it looked delicious. Well the only thing yummy about my lunch was the sweet waiter. He's been there for years and is always so polite and courteous. My sandwich did not look like the picture at all. Took the bread off and ate some of the turkey bits. I took fresh fruit as a side. Two of the grapes were rotten and the pineapple still had the core in it. Strawberries were ok but not delicious. The one star was for the waiter that was apologetic. He was very upset of how Stormie the female waitress did us. The gentleman seated us real fast. Said someone would be with us. The someone never showed up so he gave us our drinks and took our order. There were only 4 tables with customers in them. After 35 minutes went by I got him over to us and asked him what is going on. Also told him that the two groups that came in after us got their food first. He told us that Stormie went back to the kitchen and told the cook to made her customers food first. The gentleman that was helping us said that he went back there and seen one order was in front of the other two customers order and was told by Stormie to make her orders first. I mean the service was outstanding. But the food was straight and overpriced. The atmosphere is alright. Not too busy.(maybe for a reason) not mad at any of the workers. It's just overpriced. 18 DOLLARS for 4 blue berry pancakes and orange juice! The orange juice was horrible it tasted more like lime juice than orange juice and it was almost like carbonated. I almost never rate a chain, but I'm hoping someone sees this and makes some improvements. My mother, son, and I frequent IHOP, so we were excited to have one open so close to us. And at first I wrote off small annoyances as it being a new place and training their staff. I can't do that anymore. There are some basics that just aren't happening. I have been to this location close to ten times since they opened. These are issues that have occurred EVERY time I've been there. First, they don't bring silverware for my son. A baby I would get, but a preschooler eating pancakes?¿ He's not eating that with his fingers. And speaking of pancakes, there hasn't been a single time that the regular syrup has been brought to the table with our food. This causes my young son to be staring at his food that is not actually ready for several minutes until we can flag someone down to get plain syrup. Next, I am a big fan of their flavored coffee. I love that it comes with the whipped cream. It's just a pleasant change from the standard coffee and cream. However, every single time I order it decaf, I make sure to point to it on the menu and am still brought a standard mug and decaf coffee. When I request a second time, I'm brought the coffee in the large mug with no whipped cream. So then I feel like an ass asking yet again for what I actually ordered. It's like they don't know their own menu. Lastly, and this is not the fault of any current employee, please for the love of god fix the bathroom locks! I have to take my son into the stall with me, so I need the bigger one, and I have to hurt myself every damn time to get it to lock. And it often seems the smaller toilet is clogged or something. Someone messed up with construction there. So three out of four things I've mentioned directly affect my ability to keep my son calm. And believe me I would not have written this for one or two random occurrences. This hasn't gone right yet. Please retrain your staff. Learn from other locations. Because if it does not improve, and FAST, I will drive the extra distance to my old location. read more

While dining out, my waitress tried to pocket $90 from the change to my bill and their staff laughed and played it off like a joke. My bill was $6.01 and I handed her $100.01 and even asked if she would have enough change. She then came back finally and handed me a ticket with 4 one dollar bills and said "Have a nice day" and walked to the back kitchen very quickly. She did not come out for over 10 minutes until a manager hunted her down. She then proceeded to say that she was going to come back but she had never said anything to make us think that. She also had the $90 in her tip pouch that she pulled out. The manager was laughing about the situation and saying it wasn't a big deal. The server was personable and did well despite several kitchen errors. One was minor and corrected quickly. Another was more involved and the meal was comped. I'll just detail mine. I ordered a Fresh Berry Salad. They brought something else. Instead of making a new salad, they picked off some of the incorrect components and put other ones on. How do I know? When I was about halfway through, I found bacon. The salad doesn't come with bacon. Or tomatoes, which were left on. When I mentioned it to others at the table, someone said they heard. "Just take the wrong parts off." from the staff. I don't have an allergy to bacon or tomatoes and don't have a religious or dietary restriction. But what if I did? A restaurant that has so little regard for accuracy and food safety really bothers me. I have family members with food allergies, so the prospect of a hospital trip for the restaurant not going to the trouble of starting over? What other shortcuts are they taking? Are other food safety rules not being followed? Not going back to this location. Ever. Maybe not even the whole chain, if that's the way they handle things. read more

By far the worst service I've ever received. The restaurant wasn't even busy. We were seated quickly but that's the last thing that happened fast. It took over 15 minutes to find someone to take our drink order. The majority of the time the servers and even the manager would walk by and wouldn't even make eye contact. During the time we waited for our food, 3-4 tables walked out without anyone talking to them. People seemed to wait forever as the staff all hid in the back and you couldn't find any employees out in the dining room. I am confused, this is the IHOP that just opened in Blue Springs, right? We have been there twice this past week - sat at the same booth, right outside the kitchen both times. Waited on by the same young lady who was very nice and got us drinks, food and refills very quickly. No issue with the quality of the food or service. It is an IHOP and the service was actually better than what I am accustomed to at this chain, reading the one star reviews I actually wondered if I was reading about the same place. Maybe people are getting confused and thinking this is a 5 star restaurant where they pull out your chair and have violins and fine China and all that. No, it is an IHOP and a very good one at that! Maybe they just needed a couple weeks to get their bearings in a brand new restaurant before being fully up to speed, maybe it's not exactly fair to rush to give them one-star reviews before they have even been given a chance.
