I know I said that I'd never darken the doors of this specific IHOP location again, but after enjoying yet another wonderful free movie at the Library of Congress theatre ("Thunderball" with Sean Connery as good old James Bond) last night, we were peckish & looking to have something besides fast food after 10 p.m. So stopped in at IHOP (after a very long hiatus from the place), but vowing NOT to order anything that might have hit the fryer. There were just two other tables besides us, & it was obvious that the place had already been thoroughly cleaned & set up for the next day. Hubby had an American Cheese Omelet; I a Corned Beef Hash & Cheese Omelet - both with Buttermilk Pancakes on the side. One water; one iced tea - both with lemon. Everything was piping hot, properly cooked, & spot on. It actually was a nice fresh late-night meal. Server was friendly - promptly offering & then bringing hot sauce for my omelet; several fresh lemon wedges brought separately in a dish for us to add our own, etc., etc. Prices for omelets here seem to have currently plateaued at just shy of $10. All of the omelets were $9 & change. Still seems a bit pricey to me, but I do have to admit that both of our omelets were chock full of what they were supposed to be chock full of, & the pancakes were nice & fluffy. Bottom line: We'll be back. But I still will NOT order anything that might even marginally have come in contact with a fryer. . . . read more

By far the worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant. The woman who seated us didn't acknowledge us as we walked in. She was in mid argument with another employee. She grabbed two menus and started to walk away without a word to us. Normally, we would have left the restaurant but there are not many food choices so late at night. She took our orders and while we waited I went to the restroom. The restroom was an adventure. A tp and white goo hurricane must have came through. Some one thought it was funny to put goo on the floor along with every nob and door handle. I returned to our table to wait and soon after our food arrived. The food was fine with one exception. My boyfriends food was cold. He ordered chicken and waffles. The waffles were not warm enough to melt butter. Our waitress came back once to see if the food was ok and that was it. No refills, no check. We walked to the register to pay. As we left the building, our waitress comes in from outside, walks past us without a word or eye contact. No good byes, have a nice nights, or thank you. Not even a don't let the door hit you on the rear on your way out. We know this is not fine dining but there is no reason for an experience to be this bad. No more IHOP. read more

Went on Christmas Day it seemed like the staff was being held hostage. As we headed in to IHOP I heard a groan. I interpreted it as oh great there are more people. Our waiter's first interaction with us was him telling us he had an ulcer. Then it seemed like everything was difficult for him to do. If you are sick stay home! My kids and I decided to have dinner at ihop in Culpeper on Creativity Drive on today, June 7th around 5PM. As we were being seated I had noticed that the table had A few sticky spots as well as food was on the floor and seats. Ultimately we were seated at 2 different tables, visually dirty. When I had mentioned the tables and seats to Adrianna she copped in attitude with me . Instead of apologizing, She went over and and began gossiping to One of her coworkers about it. While we were ordering our food She continued to give us attitude, I decided not to order anything because Of her attitude towards me my family. I asked her if there were any managers on shift and she Said there were no managers on duty. I even asked for a shift leader and she also stated there were none this evening. As we were paying for the kids meals I mentioned the big Steak Omelet That she had not mentioned Which clearly states if your Server does not mention the big omelet during your meal it is free! She responded that I had to mention it while we were eating. Eventually I ask again to speak with a manager or shift leader So she walked away and spoke to Another host. At that point I was that point I was extremely frustrated and disappointed in how Me and my kids were being treated I stood there a bit longer and noticed someone peeking from the kitchen area in which I grabbed their attention and and the lady ended up Telling me that she was the manager for the night. At this point I was in shock that I was being lied to , I am not pleased at all with with my experience This evening. I am unsure if I will be returning to ihop and Culpeper. This place has sunken deep into a crap whole. Our last visit was our last straw. They brought our kids meals out 20 minutes before bringing mine. Then it took another 15 minutes for my husband to get his. It tasted cold and awful. Server didn't smile and the manager looked grumpy. The store manager there shouldn't be running it. She has no restaurant experience at all. Just a degree. I worked there for one day and quit after she screamed at everyone at 8am for not selling milkshakes. I wish I could give this place negative stars. By far the worst IHOP I have ever been to in my life. Started as soon as we walked in the door. No one came to seat us. We waited so long another family came in behind us and they ended up waiting so long that customer went and found someone to come seat us. After we sat down we continued to wait for close to 20 minutes before anyone even came to take our drink orders. We decided to order our food at the same time because we didn't want to risk waiting another 20 minutes before seeing anyone. Well, that didn't end up working because we actually got our appetizer before our drinks. At this point it's been about 45 minutes and we have an appetizer but no drinks. We, again, sat there so long we now needed refills but still no food. We stopped someone and asked for refills but that didn't happen. When we finally got our food not only were we still waiting for our refills but we had food missing AND some of the food we got was wrong! We started to eat the food we had and finished it by the time they brought the missing food but they still hadn't corrected the eggs that were brought out cooked wrong. At this point we had been at the restaurant for almost two hours and already watched another two tables complain to the manager about the terrible service and food. The manager didn't seem smart enough to bc comprehend what was going on. Her excuse was that she's been trying to catch up since she started her shift but there were only a handful of tables and at least five or so servers working so there was nothing to catch up from. One table that left even said "good luck" to another table sitting waiting for their food. Basically don't waste your time coming here. You'll leave irritated and hungry. read more

This is a typical ihop not phenomenal food but not bad. They're very accommodating, they have a back room w doors for group get togethers that need privacy and peace and quite. I've never been during the day or evening but I've been late at night and it's pretty dead but their is always two ladies that work at that time that are very nice. read more

Went there for breakfast, lady seated us, said the waitress would be right us to get our drinks. Within 1 minute that same lady sat down another couple right next to us and took their drink order. After 10 minutes had to ask someone to take our drink order, after 5 minutes still no drinks, had to ask another waitress where our drinks were, she finally got them to us. The same table that sat down the same time we did had their food when we revived our drinks, this is terrible customer service. The hostess followed us out and then was rude to us. It wasn't busy...maybe 4 or 5 other families sitting all around us. Worst IHOP I've ever been to. Out of 4 people I was with, only 1 person got their order where it wasn't messed up somehow. Burnt pancakes, a cold turkey dinner, and a hair inside of a burger about 3 inches long. When the burger came back for try #2, there was a small piece of tomato in the bun, and it was supposed to be plain. The manager was on the phone forever with someone, and when she did speak with us, she took money off the bill, but otherwise acted as if this was normal procedure for the cook to be sloppy. We popped in for a quick breakfast today, and IHOP, unfortunately, had a different schedule in mind. We sat for a good 5 to 10 minutes before anyone even came to the table, they weren't very busy and 6 servers were on duty. I stopped at this Ihop for dinner with my husband after work today.We were the first table of a large rush. No one came to service our table and the manager took our drink order. I was brought a orange marmalade with my tea and a dirty cup. Needless to say it was over an hour we sat waiting to order our food and never had a waitress come to our table. The manager had begrudgingly took our order after we asked for a waitress (multiple times) also the manager seemed more interested in her reflection in the window than taking our order. Flat out the worst managed IHOP in the region. A fifteen minute wait with only four couples in the restaurant . No one took our name until the manager came out from the kitchen. Then she was rude and even after being told that we were waiting the longest put the couple that told her, in front of us. Five families walked out while we continued to wait. One couple seated before us left after waiting after being seated for over ten minutes. We waited for five and then commandeered the only server responding Dakota who immediately brought us coffee and water. The meal was room temperature but accurate. Service by Dakota good. At this occupancy should have been outstanding. Not his fault as he was on point doing what he could with a subpar manager. Been here a handful of times over the past year but today was the last time. I've never been fully satisfied with service or food in previous visits but today everything was less than satisfactory rather than one or two things. The servers are always friendly, but they're usually slow or forget items. Today a nearby table was dirty when we sat down and they weren't finished bussing and cleaning until after we left. There are flies all over. The pancakes and French toast are pretty consistently good but everything else is hit or miss. It's the really slow service that is the issue. So many waitresses, so few people eating. But always a long wait. I think that there are issues with the kitchen staff. I was appaled...absolutely mortified. I borught my grandmother here to eat roughly 3 weeks ago, and I just now figured out how to put the experience into words. After the waitress brought us old coffee, we asked for a fresh pot, to which she went and refilled the canister with the old coffee while we watched her -__- NOT a good start to our breakfast. -1 star for poor waitstaff, thanks to Miss Precious (yes that was her name). We were the fourth table to be sat, the store was quiet at around 10am. I questioned why such a popular breakfast joint was dead at a time where there should still be a rush. I soon found out why. After an HOUR of waiting for our food, my children were hungry, we were hungry...it arrived. Cold. My son's waffle was limp and lifeless, it was as if they hadn't even kept the food under the warmers. My food was cold, hashbrowns were despicable. I scarfed them down, as did the rest of the family. When you're going to a restaurant hungry and then have to wait an hour more, you shut up and eat. For a restaurant with 4 tables, having to wait that long for cold food is disgusting. -1 for the bad cooks, -1 for bad food, -1 for a horrid experience. If I could give no stars, i would have. How this place received Best Breakfast of 2013 is beyond me, because I fail to see it. I warn everyone to stay away, and hope this review either helps them to understand how ridiculous their store is, or at least come under new management where they understand that the customers make the restaurant, and that success does not come form barely edible food and shitty service. read more
