What you know at IHOP is the unhealthfulness of this yesteryear cuisine. Fine dining it is not, but their menu and speediness of service usually makes their child-centric clientele happy. Their heavily advertised "kids eat free" promotion justifies the nutritional and culinary sacrifice made by the paying parents - the value inherent in this promotion justifies certain sacrifices. However, not so fast. On two out of two recent occasions in 2022, local management (Eldersburg MD) refused to honor the terms and conditions of this national promotion without warning or explanation. Parents were left with the "teachable moment" of asking that the police be called for a bill that was patently unfair and would not be paid (would kids find this constructive or mortifying?), or just paying the bill as presented. On specific inquiry about the promotion, the local manager was intransigent. Explaining that it was one of the children's birthday, fell on deaf ears. No special hoopla of any kind was available, s the manager felt cornered and dug in. Unbelievable but true. The takeaway is the inescapable conclusion that the customer is not always right at the Eldersburg IHOP and/or that the advertising is downright deceptive and really can be disregarded at the discretion of the local manager, who apparently decided that she did not like a patron. Either is unacceptable and we will never be back. read more

As one of the last remaining breakfast eateries in town, I found myself craving some eggs and hash browns. Imagine my disappointment when I stood in the waiting area with my toddler for about 10 minutes before a staff member showed themselves from the back. After circling the main room to check on seated guests the waiter (the only staff in the dining room) then warned me that online orders took precedence and it would be another 10 minutes before he could even see to me. No thanks! This isn't the first time either. The last time I went around lunch time, my server disappeared after taking my order and didn't reappear for the duration of my meal. I only received my food after flagging down another employee, and had to do the same again in order to pay my bill! Why should anyone submit themselves to this substandard service? It's obvious that the dining room customers aren't a consideration. read more

My father and I come to this IHOP every week. It is always professional and exceptional service. Every server we get is attentive and personable. The food is always cooked perfectly. This our first time at this location. They had a few patrons inside, we were immediately greeted and seated, the Hostess was also our Server. Even 40 percent senior savings didn't help much. Excessive wait times had prospective customers leaving without being served. Once delivered the food was burnt and tasteless. The wait staff was courteous and professional. There was not enough staff to keep up with the demand. I suspect the same for the kitchen staff. But there is little excuse for serving burnt food. Until they can get up to speed with their staffing I do not recommend eating here. read more

bad from the start. Stood alone at front desk unacknowledged for about 5 mins despite being walked past by 3 employees. Looking around there were 6 tables occupied. Finally seated and was told it "might be a while" as we are short handed. 10 mins later we still had not been approached by any waitstaff (not even water or coffee). Got up and left. The restaurant is clean and mostly empty. The wait staff, young, and super friendly and included friendly banter. They get an A for effort. However, the food presentation was terrible. Over easy eggs (not sunny side up)were super runny undercooked.. practically raw. The Burrito Breakfast bowl.. horrible presentation and disappointingly had hardly anything in it and missing avocado. Once the avocado requested after delivery was added.. it came with the avocado sticker label. The bacon under cooked. Special Lemonade drinks nice flavor but missing the blueberries on top. Wait staff WITH good Flfood presentation is what brings people back. They only got half of this equation correct. This is my 3rd time at this location and each time the food and its presentation was less than par. I kept trying because I generally love an IHOP.. but the cook needs lessons. read more

DON'T GO HERE! Big Belly Deli has better food and better service. It is difficult to make the review for this place go lower because it's just that bad. Unless you are very old and don't have any money this is not the place to go. I just waited 10 minutes in an EMPTY restaurant while the concierge dealt with two door dash orders they screwed up - one on the phone and one being picked up. I walked into a nearly empty restaurant at 11:00am on a Monday. After waiting for some to seat me, I was told there is a 15-20 minute wait. I sat down , there were others waiting as well. The area emptied quickly, and I was joined by others who arrived after me. When a couple who arrived after me were seated, I complained to the trainee, who immediately seated me in the still nearly empty dining room. He brought me a cup of coffee and told me someone would be right with me. Waiters were hanging around looking bored, but none took my order. After another 20 minutes I left. Sadly - I can't leave NO stars. I ordered the pepper jack patty melt (it doesn't deserve to be capitalized.) Here's the description from their website: Pepper Jack Patty Melt. We took the patty melt up a level. 100% Black Angus beef steakburger patty, Pepper Jack cheese, grilled onions, pickled jalapenos & IHOP® Sauce on cheese-crusted bread. This was missing: 1) Pepper Jack Cheese 2) Grilled Onions 3) Pickled Jalapenos 4) Well cooked Meat. 5) Enough Meat to cover a single piece of "cheese-crusted" bread". 6) Cheese-Crusted Bread Here's what there was an abundance of: 1) Bloody (mostly uncooked...not rare...but raw-ish) meat that bled through and soaked the sourdough until It was red. 2) Thousand Island (not listed in the menu description) 3) RAW Onions (I love onions - but after keeping the amount I wanted, there were 19 pieces of onion that I removed. 4) Pickles - I removed 7 pickle slices, and still had enough to cover the bread 5) Space on my bread where meat should have been. I feel robbed / assaulted / whipped through the space-time continuum to a place where raw and disgusting sandwiches made by people who can't even read a menu description is the norm. I'm beyond horrified. And I will spare you all the visuals - I was sick multiple times throughout the night. I ate no more than 3 bites before realizing that I wouldn't have fed a homicidal maniac this sandwich as punishment for a life spent killing innocent children. Every person who cooked or looked at this sandwich before door dash dropped it off should be fired, deported, exported or decapitated. We stopped for breakfast there this morning. A young man, Devin, seated us brought menus, offered us a beverage, and took our order. I think he was a one man show in the dining room because he went from table to table making sure customers had what they needed. The scrambled eggs were ok but weren't any better than the large warmers of eggs you might get at a hotel's free breakfast. The food at Eldersburg tastes fresher & they're fluffier & just delicious. French toast in Eldersburg is my favorite. // They have had a some hostess issues in the past few months but I think that's just a low staffing issue that doesn't appear to be the employees' fault. Forgot to take photos, but the Poblano Avocado Omelette was TO DIE FOR. Delicious. Side of pancakes made it even better. The appetizer sampler was just okay. Not a fan of the onion rings and the chicken tenders were a bit small, BUT the mozzarella sticks were great!! Server was named Keelan. He did an okay job but I felt like he was managing too many tables and forgot about us/didn't have time to give us full attention. Nonetheless, our meals were delicious, he got us a to go box, and we gave him a decent tip. I'll be back at some point for sure! read more

Went in one morning and was distracted looking for my ex-husband and my kids, who were already seated somewhere. Hostess must've said "good morning" to me but I didn't have time to process it. It's important to note that I was not in any way rude, just preoccupied. I started to say "good morning" back to her and before I could she says to me "you could say Good Morning you know" in a nasty tone. Give me a chance lady. If you get that nasty that fast (over nothing), maybe being a "hostess" isn't the right position for you? Food is mediocre. Most of the servers are pretty decent. Our waitress kept ignoring us and we had to ask for refills even though she kept passing our table.We asked for mayo when she took our order and again when she brought our order and we still had to ask a third time! 10 minutes later she brought one small container for two of us. Imagine this, friday night, your looking to have a good time tonight! You decide restaurant night with who ever friends, gf, co workers, family, in my case gf. You walk in, you expect what? Noise, smiles, music, awesome food, good drinks, all that (at least 40% of what tv ads make restaurants look like) I walked in to this iHop on a friday night.... What.... The.... @$&$....... first bad sign of a restaurant is.. no customers.. then again you cant judge that bad right? Maybe its a bad night, we sit, before hand customers were already sitting, and 1 family ill add they were the only ones there... and they literally told us "we thought they were closed" ohhhhk strike 2.. then the cook is mopping... before we even got our drinks 100,000% unsanitary you are under no circumstance to EVER do that with customers around here's exactly why... if your like me and have worked for hard ass restaurant managers.. your picky on a lot.. well.. i learned early when a customer smells bleach LIKE I DID and it smacks them in the face... strike 3 we were out.. if theyre manager wants to say "its memorial day weekend" chilis right next door was lit the hell up (went there instead) you would have thought this place was a library.. See here is what i dont get, the staff? 6/10 no where near good but not the worst. But see, a typical server is in college or just very good at their job and has a career out of it, i hate being apart of this lazy excuse of a generation because for those of you in college that want that "money" you destroy a place like this and there is so many of you to the point your manager gives up and shame on the management too, there is no reason you let kids run your place and that is exactly what happened here. Congratulations to the staff getting by living with their parents, not giving a damn about their job a job is sometimes a stepping stone, but if you fall through a step and it breaks, your still at the bottom of your climb. This ihop is seriously on the struggle bus. I've been here twice since it opened, first at night when it was slow and now in the morning when it was busy. Both times my family has received pretty shotty service, our first server was incredibly judgmental of my step father when he ordered more than one order of the ENDLESS pancakes. Today it took over an hour to receive our food and when we got our check we ended up having to go up to the hostess stand (full of sassy girls who seem generally miserable to be there) and have them hunt down our waitress so we could pay. On both visits our food has come out wrong and today as we were paying at the hostess stand I overheard another woman talking to the manager about the poor experience she had recently and asking for a refund. I know this location is new but they seriously need to retrain their servers and reconsider some of their hires. read more

Terrible service. Terrible food. Arrived and was told 25 min wait turned out to be 50 min. They seated 4 tables of people that came in after us before us. Finally got a table, no apology for wait time, restaurant is now very empty, waiter comes takes drink and food order, brings drinks, coffee pot only enough for half cup, no creamer , waiter never came back to table, waited 40 min for food, never saw waiter tried to get attention for other staff and was ignored. Food arrives (we ordered only breakfast items) cold and overcooked, brought out several wrong orders and some we never ordered . Again no apology just brought what was missing and walked away. No refills offered for empty drinks. Waiter never came back had to get another server to get check then another to take payment bills was 56 but copy they gave me after payment just said 48.90 no items listed of what we ordered. Never saw a manager the entire time we were there. Will be calling today to talk to one and contacting I hop. read more
