For my party of four, it was average. I've been to other IHOPS when I was younger, but based on food and service, all I can really say is meh. I ordered pancakes, breakfast sausages, eggs, and hash browns. The food was alright except the "breakfast sausage" is really just a cut up hot dog...a low quality hot dog. Pancakes vere good, fried eggs were a little undercooked but otherwise good, hash browns were fine. Service was sub par. Our waiter only visited us three 5 times: greet, drinks, food, check, and once for water. He was also hard to flag down to get the check, and after we asked for separate checks he still brought us a single check we had separated where we paid at the front. Overall, meh. It's a good bite to get for breakfast, but the service at this location seems average. The majority of the staff seemed like college students anyway, so it's understandable. read more

It's IHOP, what do you expect? Good for people-watching and those late-night "gotta get out of the house" sojourns. I've never been there earlier than midnight, so can't comment on what the atmosphere is like with more people and less cops. (Well, usually just the one cop, but still.) The Fairfax area, despite having the rapidly-growing George Mason University, is completely dead when it comes to restaurants (not bars) after 1AM. The only worthwhile vegan things here AFAIK are the fries and bottomless coffee. Fruit and oatmeal too, but really how often do you want oatmeal at that time of night? Their "Seasonal Fresh Fruit" is a lie. Servers have always been nice, though, and willing to put up with me and my friends lingering for a couple hours. One time I asked whether there was nondairy creamer for the coffee and the guy was so concerned about the lack thereof I felt bad, haha. But c'mon, how hard is it to spring for soy creamer? I have been to this IHOP multiple times but not a lot in the recent year.This morning was a bad experience all the way around first of all the cheese omelette listed as one with a little pancake batter Did not taste good and I asked him to do one without the pancake batter which they did. After eating over half of the omelette I realized it was not that good and very chewy a different Consistency then normal. I wanted to explain this to the manager, because I was concerned that something was wrong. She had quite a lousy attitude from the get go.All she wanted to do was tell me that no one else has complained.She asked if I wanted something different I said no I'd like not to pay for the meal. You would've thought I was asking for the moon when in fact it was a $6.50 seniors 2 egg omelette. The waiter was nowhere near the caliber of what I've encountered there before. As far as IHOPs go, this is a good one. I've been coming here consistently for the past decade, and I've had a pretty good experience almost every single time I've been. Here's what I've learned: - Go at 2AM when you're drunk, or the next morning when you're hungover. This makes the food taste really good. - The wait is 20-30 minutes long depending on how big your group is. If you're with other people, talk to them. if you're by yourself, bring a book. - I've memorized the menu by now but, if you're new here, get an idea of what you want to eat before you arrive, so you can put in the food order at the same time as your drink order. (For me, it's the Colorado Omelette with a side of hashbrowns or the Pick-A-Pancake Combo.) - When your food arrives, ask for ketchup, hot sauce, salt, more straws - whatever you may need for your meal, because the servers will likely be too busy to check on you again. - Adding bananas on top of your pancakes and switching out regular bacon for turkey bacon is easy to remember, but I would not get more complicated than that. - When you're done, bring your check up to the front. (They can split the bill at this time, if you're in a group.) Enjoy! read more

I'm giving the coveted five star review a lot of different reasons, but primarily because on New Years day I went in there with four people, all clad in varying degrees of pajamas mixed with formal wear and be completely accepted. When we walked out of there 8 drinks and 12 plates later, we were all stuffed and hangover free. Is there anywhere better in the world? I set the bar low as I remembered horrible things of this chain but I was pleasantly surprised! And on Free Pancake Day! The service was fast and friendly, with a smile. The extra staff was greatly appreciated on my part! The place was packed but they organized well and kept the line moving. The pancakes, which I love in general, were so good I want more RIGHT NOW! But I am too lazy and honest to hit 'em twice. I did tip as if I had paid for the pancakes and also donated money to the local charity so "free" wasn't free for me but it was voluntary. When I come here its never packed, service is fast, and the food isn't that bad. IHOP is trying to make their food a little bit more appetizing with the farm to table experience but you know - its IHOP. When you go to IHOP you're probably trying your best to have some food to keep the alcohol down, not throw up, and avoid a hangover. I'm not sure I know of anyone that puts IHOP at the top of their lists of going out to eat for breakfast/brunch. So for what you're getting it's fine and every time I've been it has been fine. It's a 24 hour IHOP with easy parking and from limited experience, it seemed clean, safe and had decent service. I had a friend from Australia arrive in DC late. What better way to experience the USA than a 24 hour IHOP! It's great to be able to waltz into a casual place at any hour, pick from a good array of satisying and mostly dependable menu items, and pay absolutely no premium. On top of both was the most overly sweetened whipped cream I had ever had and it was dyed purple. On top of the pancakes was white chocolate that made my stomach hurt. I LOVE this IHOP. I have been a twice a month customer at this location for 10 years because of the marvelous customer service and attention to detail that the staff provides. This is extraordinary because I am regular customer who brings 2-4 guests with intellectual disabilities and the staff treat us all exactly the same. They know our names, our favorite dishes, our favorite tables and patiently help teach life skills to my guests. They accept the days when we make a mess and understand when we have to leave in a hurry. They are a perfect model of community integration, making IHOP a place we all want to go to and look forward to going to. This is in large part due to the regular and dedicated staff. I come here so often that most of staffs know me by name and what I usually order. The staffs are very friendly and attentive, and the food has always been satisfying. I went to IHOP this morning in Fairfax, Virginia on Blake Lane. I got seated right away which was great but never saw a waiter or waitress for literally 20 minutes and nobody came to get our drink orders or anything. I've never seen such terrible service especially at a known restaurant like IHOP. I walked out because there was no way I was going to sit there forever. I will never be stepping foot in a IHOP ever again. I will be telling everyone I know about this because nobody should be treated like this. There were 5 hostesses seating people and no waitresses at sight. IHOP apparently is the place where you get seated and never get to order. Good job IHOP for starting my day so poorly. Twice in the last month I went to my favorite pancake house. Both times I had to walk out. Service was so bad, I couldn't get anyone to serve me. I heard the servers in the back talking loudly and laughing out loud. When I asked for the manager, he was called away from clearing a table. Both times were out of the busy times and the place was nearly empty. My wife was upset since we she was looking forward to pancakes and even when the manager apologized, swore she'd never return.
