My mom and my sister were visiting from out of the country and craving food that they normally don't get back at home so we came here on a Thursday morning to enjoy breakfast. Our server was great and food came out promptly and as we were finishing our meals, my mother noticed a long black hair in her meal. We called the server over and he offered his apologies and called the shift supervisor over who was extremely rude. She looked at the hair and said that she didn't have anyone who worked here who had hair that long or that black. She took the plate and we finished the rest of our food and asked the server for the check at which time the supervisor came over again. She told us that she looked in the kitchen and didn't have anyone that had hair that long or that black currently working. She never offered an apology but at the end she rudely told us that she comped the meal. This place does not seem to have proper cleaning and sanitation practices in place. Outside patio smelled of pee (even our 5 year old asked "why does it smell so bad?"); the wasps were constantly attracted to the tables and the baby's high chair, which meant they were wiped with dirty cloths; three of the four silverware sets were dirty; and all of us walked away with 10+ mosquito bites from only being there for less than 40 min. The food came out fast, but it was only so-so; I remember other IHOP locations tasting much better. On top of that, another customer brought out his ten year old kid out to the patio to throw up, which really topped off our unappetizing experience. While I get it that things like that happen, in this day and age of communicable deseases there should have been staff directing them to a bathroom instead and cleaning/sanitizing the stuff afterwards. I ordered to be delivered from the third party IHOP sent me to. The food never came because it was never picked up by Postmates. When I called to IHOP and talked to Chris the manager, he said that happens frequently. I agreed to get my grandchildren dressed and come for curbside service because I did not want to disappoint the kids. Chris had the kitchen prepare new food since by now it had been an hour sitting for the original order. He also did not charge me and gave me two 20% off coupons. On Sunday, November 20, 2022, my friends and I had our stomach's ravaged by the so-called "International House of Pancakes". Jokingly, I tried to get one of my friends, M.M., to order the Southwest Chicken Burrito. Prior to the challenge, S.C., did some extensive research on the treacherous burritos they sell at this pancake shop. Upon finding the one and only review online, my friends and I were shocked by the discovery. "Never order a burrito from IHOP" is what was read on reddit. Because of this, I felt inspired, motivated, and encouraged to get Michael to face the challenge. My devious plan backfired and it forced myself to order the monstrosity. When it was time to order, I decided to get a second opinion from our waiter on the taste and contents of the burrito. This is where our beef began. Slyly, he responded, "Yes it's good" and it led me to believe he was lying and plotting against my bowels. My friends convinced me to hear him out and give the burrito a chance. This was a grave mistake. Hearing the outlandish and unspeakable things that my friends were saying the waiter was going to do to my food and drink, I was beyond nervous to see, and taste, the final product. Finally, doomsday arrived. The burrito was dropped at the table and it was the most unappealing thing a human can consume. To add to the bowel damage, the burrito was accompanied by a stack of two pancakes, yes two pancakes. Not one man on this earth has sat and thought, "Pancakes would be a great side dish to a burrito!" Then, the moment came, the first bite. Last weekend I punched the wall at Wilsons Hardware in Arlington, yet somehow ordering this burrito was the worst decision I've made all month. On a good day, this burrito was a soft four out of ten and I'm sure eating from the dining hall would've satisfied me more. The waiter then had the audacity to come and ask how the burrito was knowing full well it was trash wrapped in a tortilla. As a man who paid good money for this disaster, I forced myself to finish the entire thing. Another poor decision. The bowel damage is irreversible and now I have to sit and suffer knowing the loss of $15 was not worth it. In the end, I've learned two valuable lessons. The first being that nobody, and I mean nobody, should ever order a burrito from IHOP. Doing this is a fine form of self-hate and a first class ticket to therapy. The second lesson I learned is that pancakes do not pair well with burritos. I may sound like a bad combination and that's because it is. I hope whoever finds and reads this truly takes this review into consideration the next time they want to order from IHOP. My strong suggestion is that they shouldn't even go in the first place, First Watch should be their main choice. Thank you for your time, and God Bless those who won't listen. read more

DON'T PLACE PICKUP ORDERS HERE!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I EVER EXPERIENCED!!! Order online for pickup at 11:45am. Arrived around 12:20 to pick it up. After sitting in my car for 15-20 and no one brought it out (mind you the lines are just busy when you try to call) I went inside to figure out what's going on. SHOWED my order to several different people my NAME & ODER DETAIL and they just kept going to look for it. There were 5 other people who came in after me experiencing the same issue! After another 30 min of waiting with no answer and a manager refusing to come to the front to even talk to any of us that have been waiting and are upset, I went over to look at the shelves myself (the ones 4 different people checked for my order) and I found my order. At this point it was 1:26 I had been there an hour. When I asked to see the manager, they still refused to come out and talk. I usually get food for pickup and bring it home to eat, and it's always delicious, well prepared and neatly packaged for take-out. Recently I ate in the restaurant and was impressed not only with the food as usual, but also by the outstanding service. We ordered a special crepe main dish and a breakfast sampler, and when we mentioned to our server that the crepe entree looked different from the photo on the menu, he offered his apologies and pleasantly brought it back to the kitchen and they quickly corrected it. Same goes for some bacon on the breakfast sampler -- we mentioned that it was a little underdone and flabby, and he quickly brought a new helping of crispy bacon and told us we could keep the old portion if we wanted it. Very classy and professional. When you find that elite level of customer services, it stands out brightly and shines. Wish all restaurants had service as good as that! read more

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of IHOP. Now back when I lived in NYC and they were called The International House of Pancakes I thought they were great. But lately I've been disappointed at so many locations I've stoped going. Well today I was in the area and my wife felt like trying them out. So being the great husband I am, we went :). I was really glad we did. Our server, Tatiana, think that's how you spell it, was so very nice. Just a pleasent personality and attentive without being annoying. The food was fresh and I have no complaints. We both ordered the combo, 2 buttermilk pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon & hash browns. The food was well prepared, served hot, and its presentation was acceptable, not just thrown on the plate and served. All-N-All I would have no reservations coming back to this location. As for the rest of the IHOPs in the world, the jury is still out. (Except for the Warrenton VA location, they suck, consistently!) read more

First off, this is the 'International House Of Pancakes'. No one should go here expecting five star treatment, or even quality of food. This is grub for the masses, fodder for the inebriated, and cuisine for the cheap poor student. That said, I have always been a fan of IHOP ever since my grad student days when supper was had at around 4AM. Even though IHOP is consistently graded F or D by health nuts, owing to zero nutritional data made available by the chain, they probably have some of the best pancakes accessible anytime of the day in the nation. Now, I am not a frequent customer at this particular location, but I do have pancake cravings every once in a while, which is why I get food here about once a month or less. What makes this location so awesome is the cleanliness, the level of service, and the actual locale. In fact, the level of service is so good that I feel I don't deserve it considering how little I spend here. I have received more attention from the wait staff at this IHOP than at the Maggiano's in Tysons Corner where I spend $50+ every time. The staff is well kempt and available. This location is absolutely crowded during weekend mornings, yet they are more efficient in handling the waiting crowd than some much bigger chain restaurants. I'll always have a level of attachment with the IHOP brand due to my friendship with them that began when I was a student, but this location is one of the best I have ever been to. I have fond memories of IHOP, thanks to the U-District manifestation in Seattle - WOW, it's open 24-hours?!?! - from back in my high school days. Showing up with one person in Penguin Pajama Pants (with dress shoes), another in a hunting hat and all Grey sweatsuit, a third in part pajama, part formal wear and myself in a dog hair covered yoga pant and sweat shirt, we realized immediately that we fit in well with the rest of the crowd looking for the fountain of hangover cure (much like the fountain of youth, but way more useful.) There were probably about 50 people in line to get a table, and when we were told it'd be a 15 minute wait, we contemplated leaving, but luckily stayed. About 20 minutes in they called us and we were seated in a section with a happy waitress, eager to serve those looking to fight a hangover due to New Years Eve Shenanigans. What's not to like about IHOP. The food is good, your tummy gets full but your mouth keeps screaming "BUT LADY IT TASTES SO GOOD!" so you keep eating anyways. Butter Pecan Syrup YUM. Country Omelet, that claims to be made with 3 eggs, is ginormous. I'd like to see the chicken that laid those three eggs. It was likely one of Big Birds relatives. The 1-star review is based entirely on the verbally abusive manager and my experience of having him yell at me for 10 minutes in front of my young kids when I could not leave because their payment system was down. Dinner itself was good - my kids like it as a treat when my wife is out of town, and the pancakes did not disappoint. When we tried to pay and leave, however, I was told by the hostess that their payment computer system was down and that it would be 5-10 minutes before I could pay and leave. I was annoyed (we had a delay in getting a waitress when we got there despite an empty restaurant also - a problem they fixed, but this was #2 in a short visit). I asked to see a manager so I could find out why there was not another option for accepting payment. Note that it appeared that this "system down" problem is a regular one for them, as they were taking it in stride and knew how long it would be. I saw no reason that they would not have a backup plan - e.g. the old carbon copy sliders for credit cards, etc. The manager came out of the back and before I could get 5 words out he was talking over me, being aggresive and otherwise not showing me the lease bit of respect. All I wanted was to ask a question - and moreso, to pay and leave with my kids (5 and 3 yrs - who I then told to go into the outer entrance where they couldn't hear him). I spent 5 minutes trying to explain to him that this is no way to run a restaurant and that I just want to pay - and that he should have a method to receive payment if this happens a lot. He basically just yelled at me as I sat there - and told me that he would call the police if I left. I considered calling the police myself, but with my kids with me and my wife out of town, i decided that the best course of action would be to just pay and leave (eventually). The tipping point was when my kids came back in to ask when we were leaving, and he started telling them (and me) that I am a terrible father and that he feels sorry for them having me as a father. He said this 10-15 times over 5-10 minutes. If he could have been more insulting, I don't know how. This was beyond anything I have ever experienced anywhere. I told him that I would be calling headquarters to discuss his actions, and he told me: fine - you are not allowed in here again! (like I would want to go back). When I finally paid (he threw my credit card back on the counter at me), I called IHOP HQ in CA from the car and was transferred to a VERY helpful gentleman, to whom I relayed by story. He couldn't belive it - particularly the part about they way he spoke to me in front of my young kids about how terrible a father I am. Luckily, IHOP HQ stated unequivically that they would be handling it from a corporate level, and also directly through the ownership group that owns that particular store. They told me to expect a call back from the ownership folks soon, I and I fully expect that they will follow up. In the end, the food was good, the waitress was very nice and attentive, the hostess was nice and helpful. If you go there, just hope you don't ever have to ask the manager a question - you will be very sorry, I expect. read more

When I was in high school my friends and I would sometimes skip class to get a cheap, decent breakfast fix. It's IHOP- really, you can't expect more than you would another inexpensive, mediocre quality food chain. In the wee hours of the morning, depending on the day you go, it's a place for people finishing up a long night of studying, or on the weekends, a place for people to come after their weekend activities (the club, the bar, whatever). Service is decent, but it really depends on when you go- they'll be more attentive during the day, less so late at night or between midnight and 6 am. Food is pretty much the same every time you go there. I have had a few, let's say "interesting" experiences here. Sometimes the crowd is not right, I was sitting at the front on one occasion and a fight broke out- the "please wait to be seated sign" was flung at someone and high chairs went flying across the area around the register. If you go during NORMAL hours- expect a typical IHOP experience. But if you brave the late night/early morning hours- be ready for anything. read more

Michael greeted me at the podium and seated my right away and informed me that he was also going to be my server as well. Came in today because I had a coupon for a free 'Rooty-Tooty Fresh and Fruity Breakfast' because its' my B-Day today! :-) Anyway, ordered coffee, tomato juice, and bacon with my pancakes which I had whipped cream and peaches on it as well! YUM! Get my coffee, and I noticed that the coffee mug is smaller than usual. :-O Haven't been in here for a long time, and did not know they serve smaller mugs now of coffee. :-( My pancakes come out, and they looked great! YUM! They were a little tough, not sure if they were overdone, or the knife wasn't sharp enough anymore, but I cut through them anyway because I was hungry. LOL! The bacon was alright. Could have been more crispy, and not as burnt as it was. Wasn't too bad though. IHOP is one of those restaurants on a roller coaster of stardoms hitting all the stars from 1-5. It somehow achieves its 5-ness during the times of 2am-6am when your tired drunkenness of a brain high on the active ingredient called THC can somehow send those neurons to tell you to -EAT. It's only in those time that you are in shan-gri-la where its acceptable to be in an adult onesies, snuggles moo moo blankets, and of course your walk of shame outfit. All other times IHOP = 3 stars for food and service except for Sunday & Saturday brunches. We end up going to IHop when we want to get something to eat late. Brightly lit and plenty of servers walking around. No lemon automatically in your water. Our sever offered Tabasco sauce and ketchup and was pretty speedy with our food. My omelet was big and buttery. I enjoyed my fluffy pancakes, but I probably could've gotten the regular eggs and been satisfied. My friend recommends TGIFriday's Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae over IHop's. The brownie here was warmed, but could've been hotter. They don't split checks so be prepared with cash. There's lots of parking to choose from but it can be tricky getting out if there's a stretch limo chilling when you're trying to leave. I'm not sure if I smell less smokey coming out of here than Amphora even when sitting in the nonsmoking section. I think next time, we should try Silver Diner for late night eating.
