I rarely write a review about any restaurant let alone one that is part of a chain. But when I receive exceptional service, it needs to be noted. We have never eaten at an IHOP before but decided to take a chance after a nice walk in New Germany park. We were served by Megan B. and all four of us were extremely impressed with her attentiveness and professionalism. I also noticed that the staff was very kind to the other customers. In complete honesty since this is a chain restaurant, we did not have high expectations for the food. To our surprise the food was very good, and the portions were honestly more than we could eat. Megan B. immediately brought us a container for what could not be finished. The interior of the restaurant is basic which is fine and expected. But it was very clean and well maintained. Worst Service Ever!!! I don't think we have ever received such bad service anywhere. The food was good even if it did take a very very long time but our waitress was horrible. I don't think I have ever met a waitress that bad before. She never asked if we wanted refills. Heck I had to search for her just to get a bill and a to go box. She knocked over my daughter's chocolate milk onto my purse and left it like that at the register. I cleaned up her mess. She then told me to follow her that she had to use the other register. She disappeared. She finally walked out from the back she took my card without even handing me the bill. Gave me the receipt to sign I signed it looked up to give it to her and guess what she disappeared again. A couple was laughing because of the waitress disappearing and me saying where in the world did she go again. I should also point out that they were not busy at all. This is the first IHOP in the extended area, however it is located in a large convenience store, gas station style location. The gas station also has a Little Caesars, convenience store, and a Burger King in the same lot. I ate here awhile back with my dad, and overall it was too terrible. The place was clean, however the customer service was lacking. Even though it wasn't crowded we waited about 10 min to be seated, and after taking our drink order, another 10min to get the drinks and another 10min for ordering. Food was ok. On the first leg of my cross the country trek and was hoping to find an IHOP right off the highway and the universe provided. Literally right off the highway at a gas stop mind you. Was greeted, seated and served by Hannah B. Pleasant young lady who did her job/jobs well! Had a new omelette they had on the menu called the Pablono. Ten minute wait to be seated no problem. Coffee, tea & food ordered almost immediately. Coffee & tea served promptly. Thankfully my wife & I enjoyed our coffee & conversation because after an hour+ still no food. At least half a dozen other tables near us were waiting at least as long & all were grumbling. We left, several others left. Every one of us recommended to incoming customers that anyplace else was a better choice if you were hungry. I appreciate a good IHOP even though I try to steer clear of them now due to allergies, but I figured since we were down in this area and not really wanting fast food at the time we would come here since it was sit down service. I believe at the time of us coming here this place was fairly new and definitely in the growing pains stage. Food was standard to all other IHOPs, so nothing to really complain about there...well, maybe. I had the Turkey and Avocado Bennie. Everything about this sounded amazing and almost tasted amazing. Except for the avocado, one of the main draws for this dish. To me, avocado shouldn't have a crunch to it. Obviously not ripe enough, but still put on the dish. Was it a turn off, a bit, but it didn't hinder me from eating the rest of this meal. As for the service, definitely could use some help with that area. We didn't show up at a busy time and we waited for just about everything. If I remember correctly we had to wait for items that were to be with our meals to come out much later than they should have. You kind of want your toast if you having dippy eggs, am I right? I honestly cannot tell you who was holding up the process. Really couldn't pin it on our server, you could tell she was flustered, but whatever she was flustered about was out of her control. I can tell you that when you are in no hurry to go anywhere, the wait doesn't seem so bad. But if I had stopped here with the purpose of receiving a rather quick meal, I would be a little peeved with the hold up. Eww... don't expect your food to look anything like the pictures OR taste good. A few major points of complaint: 1)How is it possible for a breakfast restaurant to not know what "over-medium" means? Brown lettuce. I would never buy this or feed it to my family. The restaurant thinks it's ok to feed people this? A 8.69 Cobb salad. They should be reported to the health dept. trying to get the name of the franchise owner and get a full refund as my friend was finished with her s burger by the time they even got the salad correct. I asked for a Cobb salad with no mixed greens only romane. They brought out chicken on a bed of funky lettuce which I pointed out to them. When I said that was not what I ordered they brought a side dish with two whole hard boiled eggs in it. I said no way, sent it back and said please remake this salad from scratch. Then they brought it back with the eggs chopped up. I was livid and showed them the menu and asked if they even read their own menu? Where was the blue cheese tomatoes bacon? And I pointed out the lettuce was brown. My friend was freaking out in embarrassment by this time I was not loud but angry and he hates confrontation. Finally they brought out a salad with the right ingredients but the lettuce was still brown. My friend was blaming me on all this so I picked out the bad lettuce and only had toppings which was a crappy meal then they offered a buy two meals and get half off the second next time you come.... I said no bloody way. So they took the salad off completely but still charged us for two ice teas and my friends meal. We were trapped. I wanted to walk out but my friend was pissed and paid for his meal as I was the one that was going to pay for the outing but I wanted to walk out. So we got home angry at each other and vowing to never go back. My friend even blamed the incident on me for ordering a salad instead of something else which makes no sense. Waited about 5 minutes to have someone acknowledge that we entered the restaurant then waited over 15 minutes for a server to get our drinks and about 45 more for our food and there were only 4 of us. I have no idea why this restaurant has service times so high at slow times. I've been to packed restaurants that were packed and food was coming out at a decent time. The Grantsville md location is one of the worst places we've eaten at. I live 5 minutes away and still travel 30+ minutes for a restaurant because this place is such a mess. And it's been like this for years now. They aren't fixing their issues. It was bad pre-covid too. read more

If you want to feel like you're visiting the Twilight Zone, this is the restaurant for you. Things that we experienced during our time there: 1. Only ten tables occupied on a Sunday morning (should have been a HUGE red flag) 2. We both ordered coffee, were brought a small pot that filled each cup once and had to wait 30 minutes for refills. 3. Waited 45 minutes for our food, which was completely awful and inedible. When the manager asked how things were, we said "Horrible". She replied "I'm sorry" and walked away, never to be seen again. 4. Best of all...The waitress asked if it was one check or two??? For two people who are CLEARLY a couple!!! IHOP should pull this franchisee's flag IMMEDIATELY. We love to go to breakfast here. The service is good and so is the food. I recommend the strawberry and banana French toast. The restaurant is a little small and is attached to a gas station, but I don't that taken away from the restaurant. We like going to breakfast here and will continue to do so as much as possible. Poor service, poor response time. Everyone seemed to be in slow motion. We waited over 20 minutes to be seated. Empty tables everywhere.

Well, the good: friendly server, decent food, clean restaurant, but poor execution. We had to ask for refills, and if you were the lucky one to ask then you got a refill. So we EACH had to ask for refills. It seems like anything outside of the menu was an error- if you substitute you likely won't get it. My wife subbed toast it came 10 minutes after her meal arrived. My meal was all breakfast, no subs- the scrambled eggs were Luke warm. It's inconceivable how breakfast can't be hot?? This is my third time here, likely my last. I had a receipt with free pancakes for feedback when I paid the server kept the receipt. Likely bc she's in over her head with 4 tables. read more

Staff was friendly and helpful, our food was also really prompt and made without error. Given that it's a roadside place attached to a gas station I didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised. I placed a pick-up order on the app for 2 breakfast entrees with sides & 2 cups of coffee ($2.99 for each medium cup of to-go coffee - 12 ounces!). So my husband picked up the order & when he got back we saw that both of our sides were missing. He also told me when he got there they didn't have the coffee with the order & had to ask for that . Said the boy came back with one cup & he had to tell him it should be 2. Do these people even read the orders? I wish hubby had checked the bag for correct items but it's supposed to be a reputable restaurant & the app was clear on how to order & what items we ordered. I even got an email back showing our order. So hubby didn't get his hash browns, I didn't get my fresh fruit cup. Such a shame they don't take the time to be correct. This order was already paid for as well, & when hubby got back to the campsite is when we found out we got ripped off. So I called & the young boy that answered acted like it was his first day dealing with the public, much less an upset caller. I told him we would be back in a couple hours to get our food (perhaps as a snack or part of lunch), because if hubby had driven back around the lake & left the campground to pick up our sides, food would have been cold by the time he got back. So when we broke camp & packed up, I decided not to even stop by the restaurant. Let them be disappointed when we didn't even show up to pick up prepared food we asked for. It was worth it to me to not get the missed food because the kid I talked to in the phone didn't have a freakin' clue & was more worried about what time we'd get there so he could tell someone else if it was after his shift ended at 3pm. I had 0 problems with my experience at this Ihop! Thank goodness that it exists too. We went to Penn Alps and they were unexpectedly closed so we went here. This was my second visit and it was just as mediocre as the first. Three people in my group had pancakes that were room temperature. They weren't even warm enough to melt the butter at all. My crepes were just okay. The biggest issue for me is that if you have a breakfast restaurant, have fresh fruit for crying out loud. The strawberries had clearly been frozen before being thawed. Another observation was the waiting area desperately needed vacuumed. We were there around 7:30 AM on a Saturday...there's no way that area got that dirty by any breakfast rush there may have been before we got there. This place was spotless. Every employee was friendly. From the hostess to our waitress. Very clean tables floors seats. We were very comfortable de-masking to eat. We had dinner that night. So holly cheese sandwich with fries and I had a BLTA. Our waitress was a total doll. Super attentive and quick. Very sweet and friendly. The cooks forgot to put Avocado on my sandwich and the other waitress in the dining area ran back and got me a big side of avocado to put on my sandwich. She kept apologizing like she had done it. So very sweet. We had such a good meal we ate there the next morning before we got on the road. When we came in we noticed our same waitress from the night before. We requested Sam/Samantha again. She was just as terrific for breakfast. One to think of it. We are at like 8 pm that night and then she was there for breakfast shift so it's amazing her attitude was as sparkling as it was. She made everything terrific. Both of our breakfasts were delicious. I had strawberry and cream crepes wish were great. My husband had the breakfast sampler. When I walked in i waited for waitress to dig around a give a guy a dollar and explain something about why IHOP all waitress bank there own or something.. I was really tired and didnt care. After about 10 mins i got to set down. The place was vacant. After ordering a steak and eggs the waitress just went away. I had to ask"dont ya wanna know How i want either one.
