My favorite and by far the best IHOP! The food and service is outstanding!

I was happy with our service, the menu, and the prices. We usually try to favor local restaurants as opposed to chains but you can't beat that this is open 24 hours, they have no problem with menu substitutions and they are friendly. For me, it was a bonus to see the calorie count on the menu so I could make a healthy choice. The cage-free egg white veggie omelet was filled with fresh ingredients. Loved it. read more

I stopped by for breakfast and ordered from the senior menu, which included pancakes. There were very few people in the place but it took about 10 minutes to get someone to bring me maple syrup. Then when the bill came I realized I had been charged $9 rather than the $6 on the menu. Again I had to hunt down my waitress. When she brought my change I realized she had shorted me close to a dollar in coins. I put myself through college as a waitress so I am a really good tipper but I got up and walked out. I figure the waitess got the tip she deserved in keeping my change. I won't be going to iHop any time soon. read more

I am a Frequent dinner at this ihop. The food is good, great service & clean. The staff is always checking to see if you need anything. Don't expect a gourmet meal but the food is good. Ask for Lorain as your server she is great! read more

It is exactly what you expect...an IHOP. It's true to the decades old routine of all IHOPs. The menus are the same, the options are the same, the service is the same (decent) and the prices are the same (fairly low). All-in-all it's exactly as advertised. Food poisoning at its best. Even though the eggs Benedict smelled off when the waiter placed the plate in front of me, against my better judgement, I proceeded to eat. Needless to say, 5 minuets later I was throwing up in the bathroom for 10 minuets trying to get my stomach back. So my family & I left IHOP but forgot my coffee mug. When we called our waiter said he would hold the somewhat expensive mug until I retrieved it. I ordered the fried chicken meal...the mashed potatoes and corn were good, but the chicken was so tough, I almost broke a tooth on the darn things. Not to mention the price was $12 for the meal. I don't know how the chicken was fried, as the skin was so crispy it was gross. The waitress was fine, so I made sure I didn't mess her day by complaining. But I will never go back. We waited for a table for our party of 8 which included a toddler and 3 elementary aged kids. Then waited for 10 min for our server to take our drink order (which we already gave the hostess) and another 20 to take our food order. By this time the kids were squirrelly. Final 35 min later our food arrived cold and missing the kids meals. When the kids meals came out they were missing their sides. I had to benign our coffee carafe to the kitchen to get it filled I shared my disappointment with our server and she offered to get the manager. Another server came out to assess what could be done to rectify our disappointment and was accommodating, taking one meal and 20% off the order only to have an 18% gratuity added die to our large party size. I asked our server what was going on with the kitchen and she said that they get slammed with door dash and Uber eats orders and waiting customers orders get pushed back. Next time I'm going to order door dash and request a table and maybe I'll get served quicker. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE, LOOOONG WAIT..... We've eaten at many Ihops over the years, and I can honestly say this one is the very WORST. My Husband and I both ordered oatmeal, and our daughter had pancakes. About 5 minutes later, the waiter came back and said they just ran out of oatmeal!! How is this possible in a place like IHOP?? We waited another 15 minutes for our new breakfast order to arrive. Ridiculous. Also, we were given no extra napkins, and we were short a place setting. Close to an HOUR just to eat a simple breakfast. Terrible service, terrible management. No way should a restaurant like IHOP EVER run out of oatmeal!!! read more

The food quality has gone down in the last few years. The service was terrible! The 4 staff members, including the manager were too busy discussing "how cheap people are with tips", "how terrible the overnight shift is", and "how 'difficult' one of the regular customers was during a recent visit"(they used profanity in front of 6 tables full of people). Unfortunately zero stars was not an option. How can any establishment allow themselves to have a grumpy and rude hostess?? Sunday morning my family and I went to breakfast. A big deal to get everyone together nowadays but we made it happen. The hostess was huffing and puffing and extremely rude. When I asked her if everything was ok and brought to her attention that she seemed agitated she didn't even apologize or make an effort to improve her attitude. She took us to the back of the restaurant and tried to seat us on a bench that was completely torn with the foam busting out. I told her I wasn't going to sit there and I wanted another table. She went on to say all the other tables were reserved for a party. There must've been 20 free tables. I went and sat on the next booth over and she said the manager would be unhappy. I said if he had a problem he can tell me directly. Needless to say I've never heard of anyone making reservations at an IHOP but I figured there's a first time for everything and I was curious to see who reserved 20 tables at IHOP. A few minutes later 2 more families were seated in near us. Then a group of 8 highschool girls who had just completed some sort of color run sat. Then a large family came and took a few more tables. I couldn't believe it!! The hostess lied straight to my face. The room was not reserved for a party. I blame the GM and owner for allowing her to represent their business. Went there for desert on Valentines Day and the service was not up to par really!!! We literally waited over 10 minutes to be served!!!! Then when we got the check after we were done with our desert it took almost 20 minutes for the server to come back and take them money to be paid!!! This restaurant has fast become my favorite place to eat, because their food is delicious and because the restaurant is clean and bright. I often eat alone and have never had bad service there, unlike some restaurants who clearly would prefer not to serve single diners. stopped in this past week for a quick late night meal with wife and grandson. this is where the consensus took us and we were not disappointed. was not looking for a gourmet meal but exactly the variety that was offered. To give this place higher than a 2 is insane. We've tried this place twice and here goes... I made a list while we were there, including the fact we almost left twice before we even ordered. The floor and booths were dirty. The walls are dirty. The glass in between booths are dusty. The booth seats sink down. The other waiters seem to have attitudes, we heard them cursing, calling to each other, say they didn't want certain tables and complaining about tips from tables. Rugs need replacing. Coffee was old - just bad. Food was average, fries pretty tasteless, breakfast sausage not the ones advertised, just thin breakfast sausage. They didn't bring butter, ketchup or the dip we asked for, had to call hostess over. Didn't really seem anyone had a set table. The temp inside was sticky. Our original waitress didn't even look like she wanted to be there in the beginning, did warm up at the end. Not enough half and half for our coffee and they forgot an order of home fries. 45 year customers but never again. In the last year or so the quality an quantity has decreased, and more than just once. In a recent trip there I ordered 2 sausages got 1 1/2. the manager said it must have been a mistake. my wife ordered ham an egg melt and noticed a lot less ham. she ordered tea. she got 2 tea bags and enough water for 1 1/2 cups.The manager said it was their policy and we clould have asked for more water. Well I think none of these "mistakes" should NOT have happened in the first place. I felt that I was lied to and that these short changes were a way for them to save money. Many people would probably not even mention these subtle and hidden shortchanges. The so-called cinnamon french toast was like a dried up cinnamon bun. On another trip there I asked for an extra pickle slice. They said I would have to pay extra for it because it was their policy. NOW HOW CHEAP OF A PLACE IS THIS! WE WILL NEVER GO TO THE KEYPORT OR ANY OTHER IHOP AGAIN. PERKINS PANCAKE 1/2 MILE SOUTH ON 36 IS MUCH BETTER AND YOU CAN ASK FOR A PICKLE SLICE AND GET IT FOR FREE. read more

(zero stars) i'm posting this to facebook, also, but i don't expect it to be there....i did review on FB wed or thurs and it was deleted.....i ate there this past wed, 6/23...lunch at about 3:30...needless to say, place was empty....no problem....more "service" for me.....ordered the pepper steak (from the picture in menu) and it came with a salad....well, the salad had a bug in it so i called the waitress (she was subbing for my waiter who was busy), she saw the bug and asked me if i wanted another salad.....duh!!!!! why would i????? so , i went for the soup, which the waiter had told me to stay away from....it was ok....waiter took over his duty and nobody had told him about my bug.....guess it wasn't big news...maybe it happened often....who knows....i told him, and he said he would tell the mgr (after i prodded him to).....well, later on he told me he told the manager and mgr said "throw out all the lettuce"....hooray...good job.....ok, 3:30.....maybe 2 customers in the whole restaurant and i'm the one with the bug....did the mgr come out to comp my low priced lunch????no.....did he offer a discount?????no.....did he offer me a free dessert or drink??? no.....did he come out to see me at all?????no.....i paid my tab, left a generous tip and, after calling my gf and telling her of my experience, vowed never to come back again.....btw, the pepper steak was horrid....didn't look like the picture.....l think it was made with steak-um kinda steak.....terrible.....moral of the story????? maybe pancakes and eggs...maybe!!!!! management obviously has no clue on running a restaurant and, as i wrote the Star Ledger in order to make 2 trips on the Munchmobile, "i've eaten out over 20,000 times in my life"....this may have been the worst! dg middletown read more
