We haven't been to an IHOP in years because one here locally had such terrible service. There aren't that many sit-down restaurant choices in the King George/Dahlgren area and we wanted to hit the road with a decent meal, so we gave them a try. We were seated right away and two different people tried to get our drink order, so the service was efficient. My son and I opted for lunch; I ordered a Cowboy burger and he got chicken and fries with a glass of milk. It took longer than usual to get our food but we entertained ourselves with the crayons and the kids menu and many (many!) games of tic-tac-toe. Eventually everything showed up. The burger was good. The onion rings on it were so large that it was kind of difficult to eat (too high - even after I smooshed it down once). I just deconstructed the burger and ate it with a fork. It was pretty good. My husband got an omelet of some sort and was happy with it and the chicken-and-fry boy never complains about his food as long as he has a glass of milk and plenty of ketchup. :) In the main section, there is a row of tables sandwiched between two rows of booth seating. There is little room to walk on either side. The poor servers had to carry the trays up high just to clear heads. Someone spilled something so they put up a wet floor sign and it caused a huge bottleneck of annoyed servers and confused customers trying to figure out the maze to leaving the area. It's a really terrible design. I'd probably go back. Both the food and the service were good. I think I would just opt to sit in a different section with hopefully a little more room for everyone to move freely. read more

Stopped in here once a long time ago. Service was bad, food was bad. We decided to give it one more try. This time, we didn't even make it to the coffee. Why you ask? They were out of coffee! While I can see 7 distinct people in the area, there's only 1 or 2 who look to be taking orders, and I don't know how many in the kitchen. I waited over 30 min for my order to be done. It sounds like the kitchen is backed up more than anything because a number of people keep coming up to ask about their food. Understandably the wait staff don't want to be out if the food isn't ready, however that leads to a number of people having to walk up and ask for refills as well as reminder for drinks they orders. There need to be more people getting the food done, then the wait staff doesn't have to be constantly back and forth (possible wait staff is doubling down for lack of kitchen staff). Every wait staff when asking for the orders also can be heard to say "may I speak?" before they put their order in. read more

Absolutely terrible service and poor management. We arrived around 10am after picking up my daughter and 4 year old grandson at Richmond International Airport. My grandson was tired and hungry. It took about an hour to get our food and they still forgot my daughter's food. When I asked for the manager as we were trying to eat he stood at our table and acted as though everything was fine. He was told a while ago we hadn't received our food. I handed him the check and he said he would take care of part of the check. I told him he would take care of the check. He stated very rudely "I just said that". To say I was just angry would be an understatement. Save yourself a very good chance at a very bad dining experience by going elsewhere. read more

We were very disappointed with the service and food to cost here. We had just gotten back from an overnight sail and were really looking forward to some omelets and pancakes. It was are first trip to this new location and noted that it was clean. However, as we walked in the hostess and servers at the desk did not acknowledge us for several minutes. The server was nice but terribly slow. We paid for an upgrade to my sons pancakes to have chocolate chips and when the food finally came out 45 minutes later... there were 5 chocolate chips in each pancake. Realllyyy???? I asked the server for more and was brought two of the tiniest condiment cups with 5 chocolate chips in each cup. Our omelets were less than impressive for the crazy prices. We won't be back and have heard similar from our friends. 2 stars because is is the clean and the food we did get tasted fine. read more

We've been here twice now. Excellent service and good comfort food - like you'd expect at an iHop. Each time the service was quick and the staff is very friendly. I like the fact that they provide employment for teens in King George. Suggestions -Work on cleanliness. Some of the seats were dirty. -Make the chocolate milk with more chocolate. read more

This is my second visit here. A much better experience than the first one. Server Lisa was on point with everything. Restaurant was not very busy at 9:30 am on a Saturday. Food came out hot and looking good. It's a new restaurant so everything looks clean. It appears to be small from the outside, however pretty big on the inside. Overall, the staff seem to be friendly. I will be back to give them another review. I pray the service continues to get better and I can give them a higher rating. read more

Honestly, the service was below average and the food was mediocre at best. By far the worst experience I've had at an ihop. We constantly had to keep asking for refills. Waited over 45 minutes for 3 omelettes, 2 stacks of pancakes and a bowl of fruit. We asked the server how long before our food would be ready and she told us "it's up, I'm just waiting on the pancakes. " we asked her to go ahead and bring whatever was up (we have an 18 month old who was getting restless and hangry). She brought us COLD omelettes, gross fruit, and lukewarm pancakes. We may come back but I don't foresee that being in the near future. Expect long waits to be seated, to get your food, and to pay. read more

We literally just waited 45 minutes for a sandwich and pancakes. The restaurant was empty, with only a few people in it. Then I was handed a salad with ONLY lettuce, nothing else!! Oh let's not forget the hair on my plate once I finally got my sandwich. So I waited 45 minutes and didn't even get to eat. No apology from the so called manager either!!! Had to edit: After our meal, my boyfriend went to pay the bill and of course my hair sandwich and bowl of lettuce was removed but they overcharged him on his meal, when he asked the cashier about it she called over the manager and he was smug, despicable, disrespectful and argumentative. I usually always have a good experience at IHOP. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express next door and went there twice for dinner. On my first visit my server was friendly and quick with my drink order and food. It was cooked as I ordered and was quite tasty. The second time was a totally different experience. Lots of staff on Friday night, milling around and conversing. I sat at the counter and did finally get waited on. Took 10 or 15 minutes to get my drink order of coffee and water. My food followed a few minutes later. The chicken and corn were good, but the steamed broccoli was warm and very undercooked. No one came to refill my coffee. They have the little coffee carafes you usually get when you order coffee, but I didn't get one, so no refills. I doubt I will be back. The place has a lot of potential, but need better management and better trained staff. If you order breakfast you might be fine, but don't order off the dinner menu. read more

After all of the iHoB publicity, of course we had to give the burgers a try! We were a larger group (8 people) but there were only 4 other tables that were occupied. We didn't have a very long wait before we were seated and we were able to order right away. Frustratingly, we waited well over an hour for our food and once it arrived, it was cold. One person in our group didn't get her food with the rest of us. She had to wait an additional 15 minutes for her order to be prepared. I had the jalapeño burger ant it was just okay. I'm sure it would've been better if it wasn't ice cold. I honestly wish we had just walked out after waiting for so long. read more

New and next to the new Holiday Inn Express in Dahlgren and across from the [old] Hampton Inn. To me, IHOP is a sure thing when you're starving. This one's no diff. I was able to customize an omelette with an ingredient not on the menu -- corned beef and hash. Not the canned kind and actually not something I thought I'd like, but I so did. It is made with a lot of onions, which I ate around. However, I still very much loved my food. And my server was fantastic. Great place for breakfast for dinner in King George county. read more

This new IHOP is a disaster. We had heard from neighbors that they were having problems but our visit today confirmed it. The worst breakfast ever. Cold eggs, uncooked bacon, rock hard toast and a wait staff that was out of control. Everyone around us was having problems and it did not appear that there was a manager on site to sort things out. It is clear this new franchise is getting no attention from its owners. We are local and have waited in anticipation for our IHOP but we are very disappointed. They need help. read more

Service is terribly slow. My family and I have visited this location 4 times. Once the day after it opened (new) in which service was great. The last three times over the last approximately year were just slow service. The place was not crowded at all, actually most of the times there were less than 4 seated tables. Getting a waiter/waitress on our last visit took 15 minutes. There seemed to be enough servers on staff sooting the breeze. The omlete I ordered came out more like a crepe. What a letdown. Well scrambled please. Tableware was dirty, drinks had a tint of other drinks like the glass wasn't cleaned. Food quality wasn't good. The place was filthy. Over half a dozen tables empty and dirty from previous customers and only one cleaned for over 30 mins while there. And it was not busy so there's no excuse. When we went there the waitress was very nice. And then there was the food it was terrible the pancakes were burnt. We only got partial orders or nothing. My husband ordered there chicken salad but never got the oil and vinegar. I order my food never got toast and some of never got our food at all. We asked to speak with a manager she was in the back cooking and wouldn't come out until almond a half hour later. The cook showed up late which she was covering for. The only reason I'm even giving 1 stars is because of our server Amanda. She is knowledgeable and gave us the best customer service and she really went above and beyond. Now as for the rest of the place it was a mess !!!! Long story short the kitchen wouldn't give my server our tables food so our food died in the window it was not edible. And the managers let that happen they knew what was going on in the back. My table was close enough to the kitchen I could hear everything . Ordered our food with our drinks. Didn't see our drinks for 10 minutes. After about 45 minutes and countless stops by the waitress saying that she'd be back with refills that never arrived, we still had no food at our table. At this point we flagged down the manager who said she would check on our food, but instead of walking back to the kitchen to check, she walked to the front of the restaurant where the waiting room was and sat down next to someone and proceeded to start talking to them. Me and my family have eaten hear 3 times now and each time it's gotten worse. This was my final straw. It took about 15-25 minuets for someone to even asked what we wanted to drink, and of course we ordered them too. It took about 20-30 minuets for our drinks to come out. I started timing after this point. They came by with food that wasn't ours, which happened last time too. It took 25 minuets for our food to actually come out after we had our drinks, which not everyone's food came out. Mine and my brother's food was supposed to have ranch on it, it's in the name, it didn't. My mom's food didn't have bacon and the food was undercooked. It took even longer for my sisters to come out, most of us had finished our food by then. We had to remind them of my mom's soup. Thankful though they did help us, I understand the place is new and as they've explained there's people still in training but again sadly it was getting worse. 3 different managers spoke to us. I can completely understand human error and that's why it's not less than 3 stars.
