Ham & Egg Melt with French Fries and a side of 2 pancakes

Service is always slow, but staff is generally nice. Food is good, especially for the price. The actual restaurant is clean and comfortable, its a nice place to stop for breakfast or a late night snack, but i wouldn't recommend for any sort of special occasion.

Found hair in food. Waitress never even said sorry. Then while drinking my coffee found nasty old crusted rice looking substance. This place is not clean, and will not rectify the situation. They even charged me for the contaminated cup of coffee. So if you want hair in your food and dirty coffee cups they will give you a 6% discount which was a senior citizens discount but still charged me for the dirty coffee Will never eat here again.....

Very very poor service, I've never been here and my order has been made exactly like I ordered it. They don't seem to understand no butter or margarine or only turkey

One of the best Chicken & Waffle plates I've ever had.

Very good breakfast food. The big steak omelet is the best with egg substitute! The sampler is great as well. I crave this place.

We walked in during a busy breakfast rush, but there were still plenty of open tables. Once we reached the front of the line, the young lady behind the counter greeted us right away, took our order, and handed us our cups. The drink station was clean and stocked with a good selection. We grabbed a table--both the tables and floors were clean--and within about 10 minutes our food arrived. I ordered the French Toast Combo, which came with four slices of French toast, two eggs, sausage, and seasoned potatoes. The meal came out on two plates, and everything was spot on. The French toast had a perfect light crunch on the outside while staying pillowy soft inside. The scrambled eggs and sausage were solid, and the seasoned potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft inside. My wife ordered the Breakfast BLT--bacon, lettuce, tomato, fried egg, and Duke's mayo. She added a little hot sauce and absolutely loved it. Not a crumb left! She liked it so much that we also picked up a tub of their chicken salad to take home, and it was delicious later that day--no complaints at all. We'll definitely be back to Roost to try more of their menu!

We were able to sit wherever we liked, and our waitress came by within about 30 seconds. She was super sweet, took our drink order right away, and returned promptly to take our meal order. The breakfast rush was still in full swing, but everything seemed to be running smoothly, and there were clearly plenty of regulars. Our food arrived in about five minutes, which was great. I got the three eggs and bacon with grits and biscuits. The eggs were scrambled just like I asked, the bacon was on the hard side, and the grits were pretty plain--but once I fixed them up, they were fine. The biscuits were delicious. My wife ordered the two eggs and bacon with hash browns and toast. They forgot to add the cheese she requested in her eggs, and her bacon was also pretty hard, but she enjoyed the hash browns and toast since both were cooked well. All in all, it's a solid spot for a quick breakfast, and we'll definitely give them another try--especially since it's close by and has a warm, inviting feel.

While visiting my family from NYC, I usually swing by for lunch with my dad, seeing as one thing…read moreNYC doesn't have except for a few specific spots, it's good *CHEAP* Mexican food. Good "expensive as F***" is, as usual with NYC, easy enough to find. Anyway... They apparently recently remodeled the place, at least doubling the amount of space within the past few months. We went in, sat down, and something that I miss from here in Texas was served to us; free chips and salsa! That is a... VERY rare concept in NYC. Here they bring salsa, queso, and some... carrots / celery combo soaked in vinegar I think that I really like. We were going to get regular lunch specials ($7.00 to $9.50) but then my dad noticed a board close to the front. We went and looked and they had two lunch specials for a very expensive... $5. One was a chicken enchilada with beef chalupa, refried beans and yellow rice, which is what I got, my dad got the other one "2 soft tacos, beans and rice." Between the chips I had, I could not finish my meal. I took the beef chalupa home. My dad didn't stuff himself like I did, so he could finish his food. We were quite pleased with the food; not gourmet, but not bad by any stretch of the imagination, and... it's a measly $5 USD. You get "street vendor food" for that in NYC, whereas here you get a sit down table, free chips and salsa, complete with refill of said chips (they charge you back in NYC), and a full plate of food. This place offers insanely good deals for what I'd say is decent quality food; take advantage of it if you're around for lunch. In the past I recall having a giant bowl of soup, bone in chicken with... cobs of corn, with rice and beans on the side. That really hit the spot as well, but if you don't like bone-in meat... avoid. I also asked about the "margaritas $.99c" in the photo I uploaded; it looked like an 8 oz. glass, maybe 10, not some thimble-sized switcharoo that I've run into before, where I refused to pay for it and gave it back and caused a scene. If they don't skimp on the tequila, and I'm not going to bug someone about the ratio of tequila to other ingredients during the lunch rush ... that special looks *DANGEROUS* :P

I'm not sure how this place became the tradition, but whatever. Dad seems to like it, and that is all that matters. Cracker Barrel is just this side of awful. Yes, the folks here are kind and the service is OK, but ... meh. It's no different than any other Cracker Barrel in that the food is marginal and the atmosphere is way too kitschy. Pancakes here are anything but fluffy. Sure, one of them had some crispy edge going on, which was decent. The other pancake seemed like an afterthought. They did an OK job on the scrambled eggs, but the rest? The breakfast sausage here is grainier than beach sand stuck to toast, and (all) the breakfast meats -- particularly the ham -- are saltier than the Black Sea. I know people raised hell when this company tried to simplify the logo, but they really should be up in arms about the way-overpriced stuff that is served here. IHOP dominates this place in every way, including not having to browse through a cheesy store on the way in and out.

When we got it, both of our eggs were cold like the food had been sitting there awhile. This may have been a one off for them as I heard one of the waitress's say a few people had called in sick.
